WA’s deal scene could be in for a ******* of uncertainty as companies try and get to grips with tougher new takeover laws, according to a top Perth competition lawyer.

Clayton Utz special counsel in Perth Trina Storm said WA businesses, such as junior miners, had until now been able to mostly ‘”skate along” without too much concern about national competition rules, which will be cranked up substantially under laws tabled by Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers on Thursday.
