Did Space Marine 2 Just Diss the Greatest Halo Game of All Time?

There’s no doubt that Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is a major hit, breaking records and presenting itself as the most popular title in the franchise to date. Developer Saber Interactive is well aware of this fact and is already working hard to solidify the game’s reputation by promising new updates and content.

Saber Interactive’s commitment to its player base is quite incredible; the developers have constantly been responding to players and providing open communication, which is quite an anomaly in the current gaming industry. However, Saber’s boss might’ve taken things too far by taking a jab at the greatest game of all time, Halo: Combat Evolved.

video titled “Space Marine 2 is a reminder of what we lost” by LegendaryDrops, who discusses the story and tone of the new Warhammer 40k title. Asmongold’s reaction caught the attention of Saber Interactive’s CEO, Matthew Karch.

The comment stirred up controversy in the gaming community as it talked about the current state of video games and stated that too many of them are crafted around “messaging or imposing morals on gamers.”

However, that’s not the only thing; many gamers believe that Saber’s boss also took a subtle jab at the iconic Halo: Combat Evolved. If you’re unaware, Saber was responsible for crafting various aspects of the Combat Evolved remake.

I can’t even comprehend many of the current games that we play these days. They are too complex and too much of an investment. We worked on Halo back in the day, and that game could be distilled down to the simplest of ********* loops, but it was entirely addicting. That is what we wanted to recapture.

Well, no doubt labeling such an iconic game as “simplest of ********* loops” is straight up a ******, but Karch also acknowledges the contribution of the game for developing Space Marine 2.

When Saber picked up a deal to develop the Space Marine sequel, their goal right from the get-go was to craft a game that would be straightforward and enjoyable, much like the original Halo shooters.

Halo allowed the studio to bring its vision into a reality, and he hopes that the same ideology will inspire a number of other developers to return to games that are fun and immersive rather than featuring complex narratives or messages.

posted on the game’s official website and Steam store page, Saber Interactive has teased a number of additions coming to the game at the end of this month. These include a brand-new map for the title’s operations mode.

Operations are cooperative multiplayer missions that bring together squads of Space Marines against hordes of enemies to complete various objectives. It’s one of the most popular modes in the game right now.

The upcoming map is centered around the planet of Kadaku, which is under the control of the Tyranids swarm. Space Marines will be sent to help Cadian Astra Militarum regiments still holding the planet and make Tyranids’ victory a defeat as soon as possible.

That’s not all; we’ll also get a free 4k texture pack DLC for gamers who have a PC to take advantage of, hotfixes to deal with technical issues, and new armor customization additions, such as ****** options for your helmet lenses. The new content additions aim to integrate with the upcoming Season 2 on Saber’s roadmap for Space Marine 2.

Despite its subtle jabs at other games, Saber is taking the right step to establish the Space Marine sequel and the franchise as a new pillar of the gaming industry. With quality updates and additions, it’s destined to become a staple going forward.
