Petrol prices: Middle East conflict has “woken oil markets” and could flow on for motorists

Escalating conflict in the Middle East has put oil markets on alert, with rising prices sparking worries Aussie motorists will pay more at the bowser.

Prices for the crucial commodity have lifted 8 per cent this week to trade at $78 a barrel in Europe — potentially adding 5¢ per litre to the bill for local motorists.
