Families, passionate horse handlers and punters took to Geraldton Turf Club on Thursday for the first meeting on the race calendar, with some kicking off the season with a bit of luck.

The 2024-25 racing season was off to a slow start as about 200 punters trickled into the turf club to put their bets on and enjoy a day at the track.
