Indie publisher Merge Games is closing down after 15 years.

The company posted a message on its official X account, stating that it was set to close its doors.

“After 15 years, Merge Games is closing down,” the statement reads.

“Starting from a tiny, cramped attic and growing to a tight, multi-disciplined 22 person team, we’ve brought hundreds of indie gems to storefronts around the world and loved every moment of it.

“We couldn’t have done it without people passionate about indie games, from all of our developers all the way to you folks, the players.

“If you see someone from Merge, just know that they’re an incredible person that worked their hardest. Thank you for the many years of gaming.”

Merge published numerous games, as well as physical editions of other notable titles such as ***** Cells, Streets of Rage 4, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, the news follows a report earlier this month that Merge Games’ office in Chelford had closed down and an unknown number of employees had been ***** off.

Merge Games’s remaining portfolio will be integrated into its parent company Maximum Entertainment, the report says.
