Herkimer County Legislature chair arrested again, this time for firearm safety

The Herkimer County Legislature chair has been arrested again, this time for firearm safety, according to a statement from New York State Police.

Robert Hollum, 49, of Mohawk, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 11, for one county of failing to store a firearm safely, a class A misdemeanor, troopers said.

On July 18, New York State Police were dispatched to an unoccupied disabled vehicle in a ditch on Warren Road in the town of ******* Flatts. Troopers observed a .22 caliber rifle on the floor of the rear passenger seat with 500 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition nearby.

Troopers secured the **** and responded to the registered owner’s address, who stated he ran out of fuel.

Robert Hollum

That registered owner was Hollum. He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the town of ******* Flatts Court on Monday, Sept. 30.

A special prosecutor from the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office has been assigned to the case.

Hollum had already been arrested once back in May for ***** charges.
