First man accused of ***** salute in Vic fights charge

The ***** salute is a form of hate speech that causes systemic harm to minorities, an expert has told a magistrate who will determine whether a man is guilty of carrying out the gesture.

Jacob Hersant, 25, is the first person charged with the offence in Victoria, accused of performing the salute in public six days after it became a ********* offence in the state.
