AFLW: West Coast Eagles captain Emma Swanson to return to side to face Adelaide Crows

West Coast captain Emma Swanson has been named to play her first game for the year, recovering from a groin injury in time to face Essendon.

The Eagles’ bid for back-to-back wins for the first time in their history has also been boosted by the selection of star midfielder Bella Lewis, who has been passed fit after missing the final quarter of their one-point win over Richmond.

WAFLW superstar Jayme Harken, who won her second consecutive Dhara Kerr Medal, a premiership and the Lou Knitter Medal for best-on-ground in the final for Claremont this season, has been named for her debut weeks after she was added to the Eagles’ list.

Former West Coast Fever netballer Verity Simmons is a surprise omission after a 10-disposal and two-clearance debut against the Tigers.

Ruck Sarah Lakey has been added to the side to add some height in place of Tess Lyons, who clocked less than 50 per cent time-on-ground on her debut.

Zoe Wakfer is set to play after copping a head knock, but defender Evie Gooch has been dropped.

Essendon were left with injuries to Amber Clarke and star forward Bonnie Toogood from the same incident in their heavy defeat to Fremantle on the opening weekend.

The pair will both miss this weekend, with the ******** picking Lily-Rose Williamson, Jacqui Vogt and Ashleigh van Loon for the clash.
