The hailstorm swept across the city with residents in Boorgoon, Kardinya, South Lake and Secret Harbour being hit hard by the intense downpour of small hailstones. One local — who captured the storm on video — was forced to take cover at Curtin University as it moved through the area. Perth reached a maximum of just 15.3C before 2pm on Thursday and the Bureau of Meteorology says the wet conditions were forecast to continue into Friday. “Some showers and thunderstorms in the east (of WA) as the system clears,” meteorologist Christie Johnson said. “Some morning frost in inland parts of the South West, perhaps some showers, maybe even some small hail or a rumble of thunder through parts of the South West.” The temperature is set to rise slightly to a top of 18C but Ms Johnson said that is still below average for this time of year.
