Arkansas mother asks for drivers to be more aware as her son sits on life support following accident

CABOT, Ark. – Hunter Casper has been in a coma for nearly a month after he was struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter.

At 5 a.m. on August 6, 28-year-old Hunter Casper’s life changed forever.

“I could be spending the last 24 hours with my oldest son,” Christina Casper-Mccoy said.

“He was going the same way, and the lady was coming up behind him, did not see him or pay attention, and she hit him,” Casper-Mccoy said.

Casper-Mccoy said his electric scooter went 18 miles an hour, had ***********, taillights, and turn signals, and that the road had no shoulder or sidewalks.

According to Casper-Mccoy, the accident happened in Cabot near the intersection of Kerr Station Road and Candlewood Cove. She is asking drivers to pay more attention while driving.

“People are still speeding and not being cautious of what’s going on,” Casper-Mccoy said.

“From 5 o’clock to 11 o’clock, I didn’t even know my son had been in an accident,” Casper-Mccoy said.

She said Hunter had left his wallet at home when he left on his scooter for work.

That is why, when the accident happened, police were not able to immediately identify him. They noticed his McDonald’s work uniform in his bag and began making calls. His work then called his emergency contact.

Casper-Mccoy said she called the police, and they informed her that he had been taken to UAMS.

Looking at his Life-360, it showed he was there, and then she went.

“Thinking the whole drive, I have to come here and look through maybe the *****,” Casper-Mccoy said.

A nurse helped Casper-Mccoy and said there were two “unknown” patients. The first room wasn’t Hunter, but the second was instant relief.

“We have had really good days, and we have had really really bad days,” Casper-Mccoy said.
