Brisbane park *******: CCTV footage released of suspect after baby burnt with scalding liquid

Police have released footage of the man they believe is responsible for a callous ******* on a baby, after he poured scalding hot coffee over the infant.

The nine-month-old baby boy was admitted to the hospital with burns after falling victim to the random ******* while visiting Stones Park in Brisbane with his family on Tuesday.

The alleged offender randomly approached the child and poured hot coffee over as his mother screamed in horror.

An off-duty nurse who lives nearby told 7NEWS she heard screams coming from the park and went out onto her balcony to investigate.

She said she heard the child’s mother yelling “My baby, my baby”.

The nurse rushed down to the park to help the boy, taking him to her nearby apartment where he was placed under a cold shower before paramedics arrived.

The baby suffered serious, but non-life-threatening burns to 60 per cent of his body.

He was rushed to the Queensland Children’s Hospital with burns to his face, upper body and arms.

Queensland Police have now released CCTV footage from the area, showing a man running from the park.

He appears approximately 30 to 40 years old, with a proportionate build and tanned skin.

He was wearing a ****** hat, glasses, a shirt and shorts.

The Queensland Police Child Protection and Investigation Unit is investigating.
