Samsung Announces Massive Dota 2 Tournament

Samsung Electronics has officially announced a massive Dota 2 tournament titled, Odyssey Cup Dota 2 Championship. The event will take place on Southeast Asia and Oceanic servers, with the Grand Finals being held in Melaka, Malaysia.

Samsung Announces Dota 2 Odyssey Cup

Being a leading innovator in the world of electronics, Samsung is now dedicating some of its force to helping expand the world of esports. With Dota 2 being one of the biggest competitive games in the world, this tournament marks a historic feat for the company and the game.

With a $20,000 prize pool on the line, players will have the chance to compete during the months of September and October for a chance to qualify for the Grand Finals.

There will be two Southeast Asia qualifying rounds, which will feature six teams from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, making it a total of 12 Southeast Asia teams competing.

There will then be two teams from New Zealand and Australia with a chance to compete. Qualifiers will take place from September 21-25.

Shortly after these qualifiers, the teams who advanced will face off against four invited pro teams, with the top advancing toward the Grand Finals. This portion of the series will take place from September 28-29.

Grand Finals will take place from October 10-13 in Malaysia.
