‘I want to do better’: Latrell Mitchell breaks his silence and addresses fans on social media

South Sydney superstar Latrell has taken to social media to address the white substance scandal, with the fullback vowing to be a better man after he fronted the Rabbitohs board on Tuesday morning.

Mitchell met with club officials at their headquarters in Maroubra to discuss the leaked photo of him standing over what appears to be a white substance while doing community work in Dubbo earlier this month.

to thank them for their support and promised them that he’ll strive to be the best version of himself after what’s been a controversial year on and off the field.

“Sometimes in life you make poor decisions and I have accepted that I as a man / family man / club man, I want to do better,” he posted.

“I can take this time now to move forward, look ahead and continue on being the best version of myself.

“Love to all that has (sic) supported me through this. Very grateful.”

Mitchell is expected to be fined and suspended by the NRL after he was hit with a breach notice, while the Rabbitohs are also set to hand down their own punishment following Tuesday’s meeting.

The fullback was outstanding for the Blues in game two but missed the State of Origin decider with a serious foot injury, while he also copped a three-match ban earlier in the year for a stray elbow against the Warriors.

He still hasn’t returned from that injury and must now wait to hear what his sanctions will be, with Mitchell unable to explain what happened in Dubbo when asked by reporters at club headquarters on Tuesday.

“To be honest I don’t really know. We will just leave it there, aye,” he said.

“No comment. I think we’ll leave it with the board and go from there.

“I just had a good yarn to them and we’ll leave it with them and get home to my family now.”
