It’s important to keep in mind this sole reviewer may not be the same as the “people” you’re describing. There are some critics who are – somehow – diehard fans of the modern Ubisoft formula. So, seeing that disrupted as stated here might be a huge issue.

Plus, getting *away* from one established formula doesn’t automatically mean the next game will be better. Perhaps the new design ideas are just as bad, if not worse.
