Raelene Polymiadis accused of ******** parents with insulin

A daughter accused of ******** her parents with insulin has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Raelene Polymiadis, 63, stood in the dock at South *********** Supreme Court on Monday and quietly pleaded not guilty to the ******* of her 94-year-old parents Brenda and Lynton Anderson.

Police allege Ms Polymiadis murdered her non-diabetic parents with insulin separately in 2022 and 2023.

The case will now go to trial at the Supreme Court, and Marie Shaw KC, speaking for Ms Polymiadis, asked Justice Julie McIntyre to set a directions hearing in two weeks.

“We are awaiting some further disclosure from the prosecution,” she said.

Ms Shaw also stated that her client might apply for separate trials.

“One of the matters we need to consider is whether or not there should be an application for separate trials,” she said.

Brenda ***** in March 2022, while Lynton ***** in May 2023, both at the Flinders Medical Centre.

Police arrested Ms Polymiadis in July 2023 and have charged her with two counts of *******.

At a hearing at the Adelaide Magistrates Court in May, a defence lawyer for Ms Polymiadis said there was “nothing similar” about the two deaths.

“We have two deaths, there is nothing similar about them in the sense they are not in the same year, it is not suggested to be in the same circumstances,” the lawyer said.
