West Aussies’ chance to get up for the cup as AFL premiership trophy tours WA

The premiership cup won’t be residing in WA after Freo’s finals miss – but West Aussie fans can see the trophy up close and personal when it makes the trip across the Nullarbor next week.

The 2024 Premiership Cup will land in Perth on Tuesday, September 3 and spend three days in WA.

It will take in school visits, footy clubs and iconic destinations.

It is all part of a 21-day journey for the cup across Australia and is the first time it’s been to WA since the historic 2021 grand final which was played at Optus Stadium.

AFL executive general manager of game development Rob Auld said West Aussies will get the chance to get pictures with the cup before it is won by this year’s premiers.

“West *********** fans were unbelievably excited to see the Cup in 2021 when Optus Stadium hosted the Toyota AFL Grand Final and its terrific to be able to bring the cup back to one of our heartland states,” he said.

“Whilst in Perth, the cup will visit local schools, community football clubs, Toyota dealerships and a number of iconic West *********** locations, so I’d encourage all fans to come along and get up close and personal with one of the game’s most revered pieces of silverware.”

The cup has been locked in to head to Moora Toyota as well as the East Perth Football Club, with more venues to be announced soon.
