Goal umpire hit by bottle in St Kilda’s clash with Carlton at Marvel Stadium

A footy fan is facing a likely lifetime ban after throwing a bottle that struck a goal umpire in the head during St Kilda’s clash with Carlton at Marvel Stadium.

Goal umpire Steven Piperno was hit with what appeared to be a full water bottle during the second term of the round 24 game.

He was quickly replaced by the emergency umpire as he was checked by medical staff.

“******* awful seeing a bottle thrown at the goal umpire,” Former Sydney great Jude Bolton wrote on X.

“Unacceptable & disgusting behaviour.”
