More Publishers Should Follow Nintedo’s Example Regarding the Handling of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Shutting Down

After more than seven years of running, it seems like Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is coming to an end. The mobile game, which was released in 2017, has been a mixed bag when it comes to reception, even though it is deemed to be successful commercially.

Although it’s an obvious disappointment for the long-term players, there is something to look forward to. Apparently, the developers are working on an offline version of the game that will carry on data from the original version.

Considering how old the game is, the end was on the horizon. However, many fans would debate that the game still makes a lot of money and has a dedicated player base. That said, with the release of New Horizon, the game has primarily been in the ********* for Nintendo, and a refresh is much needed.

The official statement from the developers is out, and according to it, the game will come to a close on November 28. Fortunately, the servers will be active till then, and players can enjoy the game till it ends. That said, after the server ends, players will no longer be able to log in to the game.

The good news is, it’s not all gone when it comes to the game, as NDcube is working on another version, which will be released shortly after the initial closing. For those interested, there will be an offline version of the game. However, fans will need to pay a fee to access it, although the exact cost is yet to be determined.

Players will be able to transfer their data from the current version to the upcoming one. Hence, it’s necessary to link your current game account to a Nintendo account so that you can transfer the data automatically. It’s also worth pointing out that the new game won’t have any microtransactions, but players will lose Leaf Tickets or any subscription in the current game.

Mobile gaming generally has been a challenging sector for many games to ******, and we often see big-name titles fail. Apex Legends Mobile and Warzone Mobile are just a few examples of games failing on mobile despite being immensely popular on other platforms.

It also goes without saying that the lifespan of mobile games is generally shorter compared to that of PC games. Instead of dragging the game for longer, Nintendo’s decision to close shop on Animal Crossing Pocket Camp could prove to be a solid one.

As mentioned before, the newer version won’t have any microtransactions, which is rampant in the current version of the game. The offline version will allow players to transfer data from the current game so all the progress won’t be lost.

What are your thoughts on Animal Crossing Pocket Camp ending after a seven-year stint? Will you pay to play its upcoming offline version? Let us know in the comments below.
