Rebuilding the 2001 classic is no small task, especially when you keep in mind the many nuances long-time fans of the franchise would want to see included. It’s a perfect release for the spookiest month of the year, and horror fans will be getting a lot more than just the remake in the month. October 2024 has a bunch of scares in store for gamers, and there’s enough variety to make sure everyone is happily terrified. Silent Hill 2 Remake Among Many Horror Releases in October The month has long been the subject of horror-related media, with many directors choosing to release their horror films around Halloween. Bloober Team may have been thinking the same thing for the Silent Hill 2 remake, and it is not the only studio to have this idea. We’re starting the month strong with the remake of Until Dawn, the very popular interactive cinematic horror game. We will get some new gameplay mechanics and some added content in this remake. It will also be upgraded for better performance on the PC and PS5, but many are not happy with the rumored price tag attached to this title. It’s not just a month of remakes for horror aficionados, as Stormind Games is bringing the horrors of a silent apocalypse to gaming systems with A Quiet Place game. Titled A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, it’s a first-person perspective title that places the player in the shoes of a survivor. Staying quiet and moving slowly will be very important, and some fans hope the game has the functionality to pick up on sounds using your system mic. With tight corridors, nightmare-fuel creatures, and a mysterious location, what we’ve seen so far appears to be a worthy entry into the genre, and gamers will have a tough choice deciding where to put their money. Thankfully, much of what the fans have seen so far appears to be in line with their demands. By touching on the many nuances of the title, the developer has shown it is aware of what makes the Silent Hill game work. That’s not to say the title will be a frame-by-frame remake of the original. The studio is working to showcase James’ story in a new way while modernizing some gameplay mechanics to better match current sensibilities. Fan feedback has also improved the title from what was initially showcased. Overall, a lot is happening in October, and we’re also getting the new Dragon Age title at the end of the month. While not horror-related, it’s going to be another thing many gamers will need to consider in their budget if they wish to experience BioWare’s next project. Which game will you be picking up?
