Perth Wildcats sign ex-Cleveland Cavalier, LA Laker, New York Knick and Atlanta Hawk Dylan Windler for NBL25

The Perth Wildcats have completed their roster by signing former NBA first-round pick Dylan Windler.

The Wildcats spent months looking for the player they deemed would be the right fit for their team and signed the ********* guard who also won 33 rebounds in one G-League game last season.

Cleveland Cavaliers selected Windler with the 26th pick in the 2019 NBA draft and he went on to also play for New York Knicks, LA Lakers and Atlanta Hawks.

“Dylan will bring a high level of shot-making to the group,” Wildcats head coach John Rillie said.

“Rebounding has been something consistently has shown he can do at a high level for his position. Those two traits alone should help the Wildcats.”

Windler will arrive in Perth this weekend and join the team on their tour of Japan. He won’t arrive in either of the club’s pre-season games in WA against NBL1 West.

Wildcats general manager of basketball operations Danny Mills said Windler was the perfect addition to the squad.

“We believe Dylan is an excellent addition to our returning group of players, completing our roster for the NBL25 season,” Mills said.

“With five years of NBA experience, his strengths with his perimeter *********, rebounding from the wing, and athleticism perfectly align with what we were seeking for this final roster spot.”

The 201cm Windler expressed excitement at the prospect of moving to Perth. He said the opportunity to chase a championship helped with his decision.

“I’ve done a little bit of research in the time leading up to my decision, and I quickly noticed the winning tradition that Perth has carried for a long time in the NBL.

“I plan on bringing a winning mentality and work ethic to the team, doing whatever I need to do to help the team succeed.”
