HMAS Stirling upgrade greenlit in boost for WA’s AUKUS prep

Plans for a $740 million redevelopment of HMAS Stirling – which includes a storage site for low-level radioactive waste – have been greenlit by Federal Parliament in a boost for WA’s AUKUS preparations.

Parliament’s public works committee rubberstamped the naval base upgrade but not before acknowledging “valid community fears and concerns” about nuclear waste.
