The Last Gas Station Is A Cozy But Spooky Pixel Sim Set In A World Of Electric Vehicles
Alawar Entertainment has announced The Last Gas Station, a story-driven pixel adventure where you play as a Tanuki-like woodland creature who runs one of the last remaining gas stations in a world that’s fully embraced electric vehicles. Due out soon on PC via Steam, The Last Gas Station falls somewhere between cozy and spooky; service other woodland creatures still driving a gas vehicle during the day, but mysterious things happen to anyone who runs a pump at night.
As the new owner of this abandoned gas station, you’re tasked with stocking shelves, managing customers’ fuel levels, serving snacks, and upgrading your operations to keep things running smoothly. It’s also up to you to solve the mystery behind the previous owner’s disappearance.
Check out the screenshots for a look at the game below:
“[Always] keep an eye on the shadows,” a press release reads. “This place has secrets, and not all of them want to stay buried.”
Alongside running the gas station, players can design custom neon signs, decorate the inside of the store, and ultimately, bring this cozy, tucked-away gas station back to life. While managing the gas station is the main objective of The Last Gas Station, Alawar also describes the game as a “bite-sized, story-driven sim where cozy vibes meet mysterious undertones.”
“It’s a game about forgotten places, creeping dread, and the effort it takes to keep something – anything – going in a world that’s already moved on,” the press release says.
There is no release date for The Last Gas Station, but Alawar says it’s coming to PC soon.

Rising hedge fund stars at Sohn give their top investment ideas
Rising hedge fund stars at Sohn give their top investment ideas
A handful of hedge fund founders took the stage Wednesday at the 2024 Sohn Investment Conference in New York to share their best investment ideas.
The conference — one of the most anticipated hedge fund events of the year — kicked off with “Next Wave Sohn,” a session that features ideas from leaders in the hedge fund industry.
Here are their picks:
Alexandra Engler, Arene Capital
Alexandra Engler, managing partner of Arene Capital, pitched Celanese as a top pick primed for sharp gains ahead.
Celanese is the world’s largest producer of acetic acid and the most vertically integrated large Western producer of the compound, which drives a “durable cost advantage” for the company, according to Engler. Her fund focuses on what she called “idiosyncratic dislocations,” or situations where securities experience sudden sell-offs due to secular disruptions.
Celanese shares have suffered a nearly 24% decline this year as the price of methanol — a substantial input cost in acetic acid prices — has been spiking for about 18 months due to global supply shortages.
Engler sees the stock rising to $79 per share, implying 45.9% upside from Tuesday’s close. The hedge fund founder is betting on a global deficit of methanol to increase over the next three years, requiring the U.S. to increase production and drive higher methanol prices. That, in turn, should lead to a 30% price increase in U.S. acetic prices by 2028 from current levels, according to Engler’s forecast.
“We believe acetic acid capacity utilization in the U.S. has bottomed,” Engler said. “With capacity stabilized, we believe higher methanol will drive higher acetic acid prices.”
Kristov Paulus, Kultura Capital Management
Robinhood is what Kristov Paulus calls a “hypercompetitor,” a company that builds products fast, has a strong vision and bold leaders that he believes are underestimated by Wall Street. Robinhood is Kultura Capital Management’s largest position.
“Even in a more negative macro situation, this is quite reasonably priced,” said Paulus, the fund’s founder and CIO. “Underwriting this business is a hypercompetitor. This is betting on the organizations that are more likely to surprise us on the upside with products that not even we are thinking of.”
Robinhood has plenty of growth catalysts and “considerable room to grow as they close the gap with incumbents,” Paulus said. “This organization is executing better than they ever have before, and we see many different ways that they can be successful.”
Paulus said Robinhood’s product velocity has picked up in the last 18 months after stalling in 2021 and 2022, and that the company also has seen its customer retention rate rise since the GameStop mania in 2021.
Another durable tailwind for Robinhood is the expected wealth transfer from “baby boomers” to millennial and Gen Z individuals. Paulus said the company is the the most popular brokerage among millennial and Gen Z investors in the U.S.. Robinhood also stands to grow from its highly accretive crypto offerings and expansion into retirement and international verticals, he said.
Robinhood shares have jumped more than 65% this year, rallying 25% just this month.
Connie Lee, Felis Advantage
Fintech company nCino, which provides cloud-based software used by banks and financial institutions, is at a unique growth inflection point, according to Felis Advantage founder Connie Lee.
Lee said nCino shares are attractively valued, trading at a 50% discount to vertical software peers due to challenges she views as being temporary. For example, nCino is currently changing its pricing to be based on a bank’s asset size, rather than loan officers employed. This, she said, should help accelerate the business given that the company has a significant market share of U.S. banks with $1 billion or more in assets.
“nCino is a high quality business with a dominant position in a large underpenetrated market, yet it trades at a steep discount compared to peers due to a confluence of one-time events,” Lee said, adding that the company “presents a particularly asymmetric risk-reward.”
“For nCino customers, nCino is one of the most important pieces of software within the technology stack. It literally drives their revenue engine. So as you can imagine, nCino is very sticky, deeply embedded and mission-critical for those customers,” Lee said.
What’s more, Lee views nCino as a tariff and recession-proof stock and named the stock an “AI winner” in a world of dynamic complex banking regulations.
Shares of nCino are down 28% this year.
Joseph Talia, VictoryArc Holdings
VictoryArc Holdings founder and CIO Joseph Talia believes Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange, or TASE, is an under-the-radar play that can triple over the next five years.
“TASE is a monopoly financial infrastructure asset that we think can compound intrinsic value in the mid-20s for many years to come, aided in part by a margin expansion opportunity,” Talia said. “TASE’ products are still priced at a massive discount to global peers.”
“In many ways, it is a supermarket for the capital markets of Israel — except it is the only game in town,” he added, noting that Israel’s real GDP has compounded 4% over the last 35 years and is home to underdeveloped capital markets.
Talia believes that TASE offers a diversified and durable revenue stream, and said that exchanges, such as TASE, act as essential infrastructure assets with earnings streams that are generally uncorrelated to the market and broader economy.

House GOP bill proposes a number of new tax cuts. Here’s how that could impact your money.
House GOP bill proposes a number of new tax cuts. Here’s how that could impact your money.
As a Republican-backed bill moves ahead in the House, proposed tax cuts under the measure include some new and surprising changes that could impact the wallets of millions of Americans.
On Wednesday, the House Ways and Means Committee voted in favor of the bill, which would make Mr. Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent while also adding a host of other reductions.
The extension of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions would mean that most taxpayers wouldn’t see much of a change because their tax brackets would remain at the same levels they’ve been at since the cuts took effect in 2018. Without an extension, more than 6 in 10 filers would face a tax increase in 2026, according to an analysis from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.
Aside from extending the 2017 tax cuts, the proposed bill would provide taxpayers with an average $1,300 tax reduction, according to the House Ways and Means Committee. Some of the additional tax cuts include those promised on the campaign trail by Mr. Trump, such as eliminating taxes on overtime pay, as well as new provisions that would lower taxes for senior citizens and parents.
The proposed bill is likely to change as it moves through the legislative process, with House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, aiming to send it to the Senate by Memorial Day. Democratic lawmakers have opposed the bill for its proposed cuts to Medicaid and food stamps, part of the GOP’s goal to find $880 billion in savings to help pay for the tax cuts.
Some Democrats also pointed out that some of the tax cuts promised by Mr. Trump, such as eliminating taxes on tips, would expire after 2028, limiting the benefits.
“[T]hey made provisions like addressing taxes on tips and overtime pay temporary, as opposed to the cuts for the richest 1%, which they made permanent,” said Rep. Don Beyer, a Democrat from Virginia who serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, in a statement.
Still, the bill released Wednesday by the House’s tax panel provides a laundry list of tax breaks that could soon become law. Here’s what the legislation would do:
Adds a new $4,000 deduction for people 65 and older
Senior citizens who are 65 and older would get a new tax benefit — an extra deduction of $4,000 per filer.
The new deduction could be used by people who either itemize or take the standard deduction. But there would be an income limit, with the $4,000 deduction available for people with a modified adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less for single filers and $150,000 for married couples who file joint returns.
The tax break would be available starting in the current 2025 tax year and extend through 2028.
By contrast, for seniors the latest version of the House bill has one notable omission: There’s no plan to eliminate taxes on Social Security income, as Mr. Trump promised in his campaign.
Proposing to scrap income taxes on Social Security proved controversial because those taxes directly fund the retirement program. That would likely hasten the insolvency of its trust funds, policy experts have warned.
Increases the standard deduction for all taxpayers
The current standard deduction, which was expanded under the 2017 tax bill, is set to expire on Dec. 31. The House GOP bill would make the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act’s ******* deduction permanent, as well as give it a boost.
Starting in the current 2025 tax year through 2028, here’s how the standard deduction would increase:
Single taxpayers would see their standard deduction rise from $15,000 to $16,000
Head of households would rise from $22,500 to $24,000
Married couples filing jointly would increase from $30,000 to $32,000
The standard deduction reduces your tax liability because it lowers your taxable income by that amount. For instance, single taxpayers earning $50,000 would reduce their taxable income to $34,000 for the 2025 tax year under the proposed standard deduction.
Extends and increases the Child Tax Credit
The House bill also extends the $2,000 Child Tax Credit, which otherwise would revert to its pre-Tax Cuts and Jobs Act level of $1,000 per eligible child starting in 2026. That change would be permanent, the House Ways and Means Committee said.
The proposal would also increase the Child Tax Credit to $2,500 per child for the current 2025 tax year through 2028, after which it would drop back to $2,000.
Eliminates the 1099-K reporting rule
The proposed legislation would also abolish a controversial rule that would have required payment platforms like Venmo or Paypal to send 1099-K tax forms to anyone receiving over $600.
Previously, such payment services only had to report users’ income to the Internal Revenue Service if they had more than 200 transactions, exceeding $20,000 in revenue. The IRS had delayed the implementation of the $600 rule after pushback from some online platforms as well as from Republican lawmakers.
Increases the pass-through deduction for small businesses
The pass-through deduction for small businesses, which was enacted by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, also would increase under the House bill.
The deduction allows small businesses, including partnerships, sole proprietorships (who are often gig workers) and S corporations, to subtract 20% of their qualified business income from their taxes, lowering their tax liability. Under the new bill, the deduction would rise to 23%.
Eliminates taxes on tips
This follows Mr. Trump’s campaign pledge to eliminate taxes on tipped income, but it would apply only from the current 2025 tax year through 2028.
The provision would create “an above-the-line deduction for qualified tips received by an individual in an occupation which traditionally and customarily receives tips during a given taxable year,” according to a summary of the bill from the House Ways and Means Committee.
Eliminates taxes on overtime pay
Another proposal from Mr. Trump — to eliminate taxes on eligible workers’ overtime pay — would also become a reality, but only for three years.
Under the House bill, an above-the-line deduction for OT would be created from the current 2025 tax year through 2028.
Allow car loan interest to be deducted
The House bill would also eliminate taxes on car loan interest by allowing consumers to deduct up to $10,000 for interest paid on vehicle loans.
This would have an income limit, phasing out for taxpayers with a modified adjusted gross income above $100,000 for single filers or $200,000 for married couples. Vehicles must have been assembled in the U.S. to qualify for the deduction.
This tax break would last only from the current 2025 tax year through 2028.

Intel says foundry business won’t break even until 14A in 2027
Intel says foundry business won’t break even until 14A in 2027
Currently, Intel’s Foundry division loses billions every quarter as it invests heavily in new process technologies and production capacity. However, the company hopes that the Intel Foundry unit will break even sometime in 2027, which will coincide with the rollout out Intel’s 14A manufacturing technology and production start on 18A-P node.
Intel this week reaffirmed that the first product made on its 18A (1.8nm-class) fabrication process, the client PC processor (codenamed Panther Lake), will hit the market late this year and will ramp next year. The manufacturing technology will also be adopted for Xeon ‘Clearwater Forest’ and some third-party products, but from Intel’s Foundry business perspective, 18A is will be a proof-of-concept for external clients. If this production node is a success, more potential customers will adopt its successors, including 18A-P, and 14A (1.4nm-class).
“I think we do need to see more external volume come from 14A versus versus 18A, said David Zinsner, chief financial officer of Intel, at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference. “We have […] a bunch of bunch of potential customers, and then we get test chips, and then some customers fall out in the test chips, and then there is a certain amount of customers that kind of hang in there. So, committed volume is not significant right now, for sure. But, you know, I think we have got to partly prove ourselves a little bit with our own product and eat our own dog food here, and then […] we start to see some engagement around customers.”
Zinsner admitted that if the company choses to use High-NA EUV lithography with its 14A process technology — as it plans to at the moment — its costs will go up initially. Intel hopes that advantages enabled by the new fab tools will outweigh those higher costs.
Like other contract chipmakers, Intel does not comment on its clients. The company also intends to produce more of its own silicon in house with its Panther Lake and Nova Lake CPUs, which will improve Intel’s margins and its utilization of production capacities. As a result, Intel hopes that its Foundry unit will break even in 2027 and will be profitable from then on.
“We still feel on track to to hit breakeven sometime in 2027,” Zinsner said. “You know, I think when we committed to it in 2024, we said, ‘it is going to be somewhere between 2024 and 2030, most people kind of settled in that that must mean 2027, and that is generally kind of what we are thinking is we can be breakeven.”
To break even, Intel Foundry only needs low- to mid-single-digit billions in annual external revenue, according to Zinsner. Most of 18A’s volume will come from Intel’s internal products, while 14A will require more external adoption. Intel’s breakeven strategy also includes revenue from advanced packaging, mature nodes (like Intel 16), and partnerships with UMC and Tower. The company will continues to follow its ‘smart capital’ model, balancing internal and external wafer sourcing, and expects Foundry to compete for internal product demand to ensure efficiency and cost control.

Paris to open swimming areas in River Seine this summer
Paris to open swimming areas in River Seine this summer
Tourists visiting Paris will have the opportunity to swim in the river Seine from July onwards, the city’s authorities have announced.
Three outdoor pools will be set up, one of them right next to the Eiffel Tower, they said. “Everyone should be able to swim in the Seine starting this summer,” said French Sports Minister Marie Barsacq.
The three outdoor pools are due to open on July 5: one opposite L’île aux Cygnes (Swan Island) near the Eiffel Tower, one not far from Notre Dame (Our Lady’s) Cathedral, and one near the National Library.
They will have changing rooms and showers, be supervised by lifeguards, and offer space for sunbathing, a statement from the city said.
There will also be swimming facilities specifically for families and children near the Eiffel Tower, it said, adding that the pools will be open throughout the summer.
Water quality will be continuously monitored, as swimmers will dive directly into river water, the statement said.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said the pools were an attempt to improve the quality of life in the city in view of the expected rise in summer temperatures due to climate change.
A first step towards making the river more accessible to the public was to close the roads running directly along the banks to traffic.
Bathing in the Seine was officially banned in 1923, but swimming was still practised until the early 1960s.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Location Reportedly Not Hammerfell, It’s a City We Already Explored in Daggerfall
The Elder Scrolls 6 Location Reportedly Not Hammerfell, It’s a City We Already Explored in Daggerfall
It’s been seven years since the first reveal of Elder Scrolls 6, but we still don’t know anything. Bethesda and Todd Howard have kept the fanbase in the dark over the core elements of the next chapter in the Elder Scrolls franchise, such as its release date and setting. The major location of any game in the franchise is massively important.
In the last couple of months, we’ve seen several leaks surfacing online suggesting that Elder Scrolls 6 will take us to the province of Hammerfell. There’s seriously a lot of potential with this location, as we could get some extensive lore drops and unique questlines. However, a brand new Reddit theory has turned everything upside down. There’s a chance that Elder Scrolls 6 could actually be set in Farrun.
Is Farrun the real setting for Elder Scrolls 6?
If you’re unaware, Farrun is a major city in the northwestern region of High Rock in the Elder Scrolls verse. It’s part of the Iliac Bay region and was featured in the classic Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall as one of the primary locations players could interact with. However, we haven’t seen Farrun playing a role in all of the recent Elder Scrolls entries.
Fortunately, that could all change if we’re to believe Redditor CloudDistrictDaimyo‘s theory. According to them, if you compare the terrain seen in the 2018 teaser for Elder Scrolls 6 to Tamriel’s map, the coastline matches High Rock’s unique sideways shape.
On the other hand, Hammerfell’s coastline is far more in the south and narrower, with mountains directly dropping into the ocean.
The Redditor states that the camera angle in the teaser looks to pan from the Reach into Farrun, revealing the land that is put into the sea, and features consistent with northern High Rock. Clearly, this region doesn’t align with the known geography of Hammerfell.
Farrun could be the perfect setting for Elder Scrolls 6. (Image via Bethesda Game Studios)
A number of players believe that this theory does hold some weight. As user Feeoree says, although they were convinced that the teaser was suggesting Hammerfell, Farrun “could be [the] right” location.
However, others aren’t convinced. User TheRealMCDan believes that the setting revealed in the teaser is a “generic landscape,” and doesn’t represent any place where Elder Scrolls 6 is going to take place, as it was just a confirmation of the game being a real project.
Some in the community, such as user Iatemydoggo, hope to see Elder Scrolls 6 covering other locations, such as “Elsewyr and Valenwood”. These areas are home to Khajiit and Bosmer, respectively, and are known for their rich lore.
Todd Howard might soon reveal Elder Scrolls 6
Todd Howard’s next magnum opus could get a reveal soon. (Image via Bethesda Game Studios)
All the speculation surrounding the possible setting of Elder Scrolls 6 might soon come to an end, as rumors suggest an official reveal is right around the corner. That’s right, the wait might finally come to an end.
Reliable Xbox insider, exTas1s has suggested that there’s a chance that Bethesda could offer gamers a look at the Elder Scrolls 6 as early as in July 2025. We already know that an Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is planned for June 8, 2025, and this would be a perfect opportunity to show off the game.
However, this prediction seems quite optimistic. Let’s not forget that Elder Scrolls 6 only entered into full-scale development after the release of Starfield in 2023. Bethesda didn’t immediately start developing the game after announcing it in 2018.
Modern video game development is no joke and can take years. So, it’s fair to say that Elder Scrolls 6 won’t get a teaser before 2026/2027 at the earliest.
With that said, where do you think Elder Scrolls 6 could take place? Let us know in the comments below.

House Speaker Mike Johnson supports a stock trading ban for US lawmakers
House Speaker Mike Johnson supports a stock trading ban for US lawmakers
House Speaker Mike Johnson said Wednesday he is supportive of ongoing efforts on Capitol Hill to ban lawmakers from trading stocks, even as he expressed sympathy for opponents of the idea and didn’t say whether he will bring up the effort for a House vote.
“You want me to tell you my honest opinion on that?” he said to reporters Wednesday. “I’m in favor of it because I don’t think we should have any appearance of impropriety here.”
But Johnson quickly offered caveats in a nuanced answer, noting, “I understand people that have misgivings about that,” while not saying whether a vote would be in the offing.
“We’ll see where it lands,” he concluded.

The comments come as some lawmakers again push efforts to ban the controversial practice of congressional stock trading, with other lawmakers again under scrutiny for trading during recent market volatility.
Johnson had previously avoided taking a position on the issue, with his new comments coming as varied efforts to enact a ban gain bipartisan support.
One bill, called the TRUST in Congress Act, would require lawmakers and their spouses and children to place certain assets into blind trusts. The bill currently has 72 co-sponsors, with 60 Democrats and 12 Republicans supportive.
But supporters have been reintroducing this bill for years, only to see previous efforts fail to secure a vote.
Another newer effort this year getting attention is called the No Corruption in Government Act, which would prohibit insider trading and also address congressional lobbying.
Johnson didn’t express support for any bill in particular, but said on Wednesday, “On balance, my view is we probably should do that because I think it’s been abused in the past and I think sadly a few bad actors discolored it for everyone.”
Any new effort would build upon the 2012 STOCK Act, which made clear that insider trading by members of Congress is banned and required trades to be reported. The act has been criticized for not penalizing lawmakers who don’t comply with the reporting requirements.
Another prominent supporter of the effort is President Trump, who has repeatedly said he would sign a ban if it reaches his desk. He most recently weighed in during an interview with Time last month.
“I would be okay with it,” he said. “If they send that to me, I would do it.”

Ubisoft delays major games, but says Prince of Persia remake is finally on track
Ubisoft delays major games, but says Prince of Persia remake is finally on track
Ubisoft has revealed its decision to delay major unannounced titles to give them additional development time.
Sharing the news in its latest earnings release, the publisher pointed to its decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows late last year, and its subsequent successful release and positive reception earlier this year.
Although Ubisoft does not specify which games were delayed, its statement strongly suggests they are titles in its biggest franchises, such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six.
“After a thorough review of its pipeline that took place from October to December, the Group decided to provide additional development time to some of its biggest productions in order to create the best conditions for success,” Ubisoft said.
“This decision has already been beneficial to the quality of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. As a consequence, FY2026-27 and FY2027-28 will see significant growth vs. FY2025-26 on the back of strong content coming from the Group’s largest brands.”
Ubisoft also confirmed in its earnings documents that the long-delayed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake will release during its current business year, which ends in March.
The Prince of Persia: Sand of Time remake looks set to release next year.
The game’s last trailer, released last summer, announced a 2026 date, which implies the remake will arrive early next year.
Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced its plan to form a subsidiary which will focus on its main three IPs, and be partly owned by Tencent.
The new subsidiary will be based on the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six brands, and will be “backed by greater investment and boosted creative capabilities” in an attempt to push each series forward.
The subsidiary has been valued at around €4 billion, and Tencent will be investing €1.16 billion to gain a ********* stake of around 25% in it.
In its latest earnings release, Ubisoft said the subsidiary intends to improve the quality of “narrative-driven solo experiences”, expand live service offerings with richer features and more frequent updates, and scale into underutilized markets such as mobile and China.

Liberal deputy leader Ted O’Brien refuses to commit to nuclear policy he championed
Liberal deputy leader Ted O’Brien refuses to commit to nuclear policy he championed
The new Liberals Deputy Leader has refused to say whether he supports retaining the nuclear energy policy he was in charge of after the party suffered a devastating loss at the May 3 election.
Ted O’Brien, who as the energy spokesman for the Coalition, devised and championed the policy to establish nuclear energy plants in seven locations across the country, was grilled on the policy on 7.30 on Wednesday night.
He said all of the party’s policies – “including our energy policy” – will be under review.
“We need to be humble enough to recognise that the *********** people had something to say on the third of May,” Mr O’Brien said.
Camera IconNew Liberals Deputy Leader Ted O’Brien has refused to recommit to the nuclear energy policy in an interview on 7.30. NewsWire / Martin Ollman Credit: News Corp Australia
“But we have to get to the bottom of what that is and we will do so in a very open and humble way.
“And that includes with nuclear energy, that includes with the energy policy moreover, and right across the policy suite.”
Presenter Sarah Ferguson pushed Mr O’Brien on the nuclear policy, saying that it would be too late for nuclear reactors to replace coal by the time the Coalition returned to government.
“So I want to be crystal clear about this, are you saying it’s still possible for nuclear reactors in Australia to replace ageing coal fired power stations?” Ms Ferguson said.
In reply, Mr O’Brien said the party was not going to be rushed into policy decisions.
“So I can be as clear as you’ve been, we are at this stage not saying that any policy is out and gone, nor are we saying that any policy is accepted and locked in,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Our job right now is to ensure that we are understanding the message that the *********** people has sent us.”

Mr O’Brien said he recognised climate change “is a real issue” and too much time had been wasted on debating whether action was needed.
“My personal view is that what has held Australia back for too many years has been an unnecessary debate on the question of why act on climate change?” he said.
“It shouldn’t be a debate about whether or not climate change is happening today, whether or not there needs to be action taken. Of course there needs to be action taken.
“The question is, what is the best pathway?”
He said it was “critical” to reduce emissions as quickly as possible, but needs to be balanced.
When asked whether the Liberal Party would stick with its policy to remain in the Paris Agreement and the net zero climate emissions target, Mr O’Brien again all policies would be reviewed.
“No policy is definitively, in or definitively out. It would be premature to do so now.”

The Liberal Party’s coalition partners the Nationals may cause issues, with several members already pushing back on net zero and the push to transition from coal.
The Nationals have more numbers in the coalition after the May 3 election, and leader David Littleproud keen to stick with the Coalition’s nuclear policy.
“We’re going to review all our policies and we’ll do that in a calm, methodical way, similar to the way that we worked through the Voice to make sure we understand the implications of any decisions we make,” he said earlier this week.
“But we’ll be principled – principled about the people that we represent and making sure we understand the implications of that.“So we’re not rushing into anything, but we will work through that in a collegial way.”

Newark Airport’s Issues: What to Know
Newark Airport’s Issues: What to Know
Newark Liberty International Airport has faced many disruptions in recent weeks. Technology outages, air traffic controller shortages and runway construction at the busy hub have led to scores of canceled and delayed flights.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it’s trying to improve the situation, including with software and hardware upgrades. On Wednesday, it met with airline executives to discuss how to run things smoothly by reducing the number of flights at the airport on any given hour.
In a Senate hearing on aviation safety on Wednesday, Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, said the agency has had a “multiyear failure to keep pace with technology and staffing needs.”
What’s going on with staffing?
Air traffic control facilities nationwide have not had enough controllers — the professionals who guide planes into and out of airports — for years, a result of employee turnover, tight budgets, long training times and other factors.
There are only 22 certified controllers employed to serve Newark, which is about a third shy of the staffing target of 38, according to the F.A.A. The agency also employs five supervisors and nearly two dozen controllers and supervisors in training. Ten trainees can do at least some work without extra supervision, the agency said this week.
Tight staffing has at times disrupted operations at Newark. For several hours on Monday, for example, limited staffing forced the F.A.A. to prevent flights from leaving other airports bound for Newark. Those delays averaged an hour and 40 minutes and lasted as long as nearly seven hours. For part of the evening, as few as three air traffic controllers were working when the staffing target was 14.
The air traffic controllers for Newark were moved last summer to Philadelphia from an office in Long Island, where controllers still guide planes to other New York airports. The hope was that by moving the Newark operations to a more affordable area, the agency might have an easier time recruiting controllers.
But 16 of the controllers working on Newark flights are expected to return to Long Island in July 2026. Replacements are being prepared and training classes are filled through next summer, the F.A.A. said on Tuesday. Because of the complicated nature of the work, it can take a year or more to train controllers at other facilities to handle traffic at Newark, one of the busiest airports in North America.
What’s going on with runway construction?
Since April 15, one of Newark’s three runways has been closed for construction. That has caused between one and four flight cancellations per hour, peaking during the busy afternoons and evenings, according to the F.A.A. Arrival delays have also been common. The construction is expected to continue through June 15 and resume on weekends from September through the end of the year.
At the same time, the Philadelphia air traffic control facility has twice had brief, but concerning radar outages that made it impossible for controllers to locate the planes they were guiding. The first of those outages left controllers rattled, with some taking leave to recover from that stress. Both outages were caused because a telecommunications line failed. A backup line was in place, but software for that line also failed, overwhelming the backup, officials said this week.
“I don’t believe there was a heightened significant danger to the flying public,” Franklin McIntosh, the F.A.A.’s deputy chief operating officer, told senators at a hearing on Wednesday.
What is the F.A.A. doing?
On Friday, the F.A.A. installed a software upgrade that it said would help prevent outages. The agency is also working to add a third telecommunications line. And, on Wednesday, agency officials and airline officials were meeting in Washington to discuss limiting flights at the airport.
While construction is underway, the agency plans to limit flights to 56 per hour, split evenly between arrivals and departures. That will restrict operations through next month, but not significantly, according to a New York Times analysis of flight schedules from Cirium, an aviation data firm.
The limit would then rise to 68 flights per hour, from mid-June through late October. That would be a big decrease on many summer afternoons, when the number of flights currently scheduled can reach the high 70s or low 80s, according to the Cirium data.
United Airlines would be affected the most because it operates about 70 percent of the flights at Newark, which is one of its eight airport hubs. But if the F.A.A. limits help to stabilize operations at the airport, it would be worth it, Andrew Nocella, United’s chief commercial officer, said at a company event in New York on Tuesday.
Mr. Nocella described the cap at 68 flights per hour as “a great outcome.”
“Hopefully, as we get through the summer and into the fall, when staffing with the F.A.A. improves, we can increase the number,” he said. “But the most important thing is to make sure when you head out to Newark that you can get on your aircraft and you know it’s going to go and it’s going to go on time.”
Just months ago, Newark’s operations were not far behind those of other major New York-area airports. Over the 12 months that ended in January, 77 percent of Newark’s departures were on time, compared to 78 percent at Kennedy International Airport and 80 percent at LaGuardia Airport, according to federal data. Over that *******, 76 percent of flights arriving at Newark were on time, compared to 77 percent at J.F.K. and 79 percent at LaGuardia.

New York prison guard says he cleaned up blood of fatally beaten inmate in plea
New York prison guard says he cleaned up blood of fatally beaten inmate in plea
UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — A New York corrections officer admitted in court Wednesday he cleaned up blood from the fatal beating of an inmate that was captured on bodycam videos in an attempt to conceal evidence.
Nicholas Gentile pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of attempted tampering with physical evidence in the Dec. 9 beating of Robert Brooks at the Marcy Correctional Facility. Publicly released video of the assault, which shows officers beating Brooks while his hands were cuffed behind his back, sparked condemnation and calls for reforms.
Gentile, 36, was among 10 guards indicted in February in connection with Brooks’ death. Six officers were charged with second-degree *******. Gentile was indicted on a felony charge of tampering with physical evidence.
Under questioning from the judge and a prosecutor, Gentile acknowledged he knew about the assault by fellow guards, cleaned up Brooks’ blood and failed to document it.
Under a plea agreement, Gentile was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge, meaning he can avoid prison time if he resigns his job and obeys the law. He also waived his right to appeal.
He declined to make a statement in court.
One former officer charged with ******* in the assault, Christopher Walrath, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter earlier this month.
Three other prison workers have reached agreements but had yet to enter those pleas, according to prosecutors.
Brooks began serving a 12-year sentence for first-degree assault in 2017 and was transferred Dec. 9 to Marcy, a prison about 180 miles (290 kilometers) northwest of New York City.
Special prosecutor William Fitzpatrick has said Brooks was beaten three times that night, the last of which was the fatal attack caught on bodycam footage. Brooks, 43, was declared dead the next day.
Fitzpatrick, the Onondaga County district attorney, also is prosecuting guards in the fatal beating of Messiah Nantwi on March 1 at another Marcy lockup, the Mid-State Correctional Facility.

These 3 stocks are showing clear bottoming formations and could rip higher, charts show
These 3 stocks are showing clear bottoming formations and could rip higher, charts show
What do Incyte , KKR and Chipotle have in common? At first glance, absolutely nothing. INCY is a biotech stock, KKR is a financial/private equity firm and CMG is, of course, a popular restaurant in the consumer discretionary sector. If you haven’t heard much about these names during the market’s recent surge, it’s no surprise. All three remain below their respective 200-day moving averages, which means they’ve underperformed in recent weeks. This is especially glaring compared to large-cap growth stocks, many of which have rallied 20%, 30%, 40% from their lows. Some are even approaching new highs for the year. Conversely, these three stocks are still well off their peaks. So, if we were to run a simple relative strength screen focused only on stocks near their highs, we’d completely overlook them. That said, we can’t ignore stocks like this. If this market is going to extend meaningfully higher, participation will likely need to broaden beyond the current leaders. A hallmark of a strong uptrend is rotation — capital flowing into laggards as the front-runners become near-term overbought. And that rotation often begins with names showing clear bottoming formations, despite underperforming. Believe it or not, as of this morning, more than half of S & P 500 stocks are still trading below their 200-day moving averages. So, relying solely on trend-following screens would eliminate a lot of potentially actionable setups. We’re highlighting INCY, KKR and CMG because each has traced out a textbook bottoming pattern over the last few weeks — in particular, an inverse head and shoulders formation. KKR broke out earlier this week, a move that it now will be trying to extend. We’re still waiting for INCY and CMG to do the same. Both are close to their respective potential breakout zones. These patterns may or may not trigger, but the process remains the same: focus on identifying technically attractive setups with clear upside potential If the breakouts hold, the measured move targets on all three names would put them above their 200-day moving averages. And if that happened, it would be a meaningful development, and potentially a signal of broader participation beneath the surface. As we often say, one of the earliest signs of a long uptrend is seeing successful bullish patterns. Again, the formations don’t have to be large to be effective. Some of the smallest, cleanest bases often precede ******* formations, creating the kind of solid foundation that fuels sustainable rallies. These three stocks are just examples of the types of setups we’ll continue to look for as the market pushes higher. The goal is to stay aligned with names breaking out from clear bases — without chasing those that are already stretched. DISCLOSURES: None. Next Mario Movie’s Title Leaks And Calls Back To The Series’ Best Game
Next Mario Movie’s Title Leaks And Calls Back To The Series’ Best Game
The Super Mario Bros. movie was one of the biggest releases in 2023, and we know the filmmakers are going to broaden the scope for the sequel. While we’re still just shy of a year out from its release on April 3 next year, the Super Mario Bros. sequel still doesn’t have a confirmed name–or does it? The film was mentioned in a press release with the title, but was quickly edited.
However, fans quickly were able to screencap and archive the article with the title, as part of NBCUniversal’s media plan for the next year: Super Mario World.
“An exciting range of films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination were presented, including Megan 2.0, Nobody 2, Bad Guys 2, How to Train Your Dragon, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, ****** Phone 2, HIM, The Phoenician Scheme, Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions.”
If you go to the article now, Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions have been deleted from the stream of announcements.
In the first movie’s post-credits scene, we see a Yoshi egg starting to hatch, even making his trademark noise. So we knew there was almost a guarantee that Mario’s dino buddy could make an appearance. The film takes its title from the Mario game that was released for the Super Nintendo in 1990, where Yoshi and his different-colored comrades were introduced.
So will Super Mario World, if that is the confirmed title, take Mario, Luigi, Peach, and friends outside of the Mushroom Kingdom? It’s hard to say at this point if the movie will take any other visual or story cues from the SNES classic.
Not to be outdone by the plumber brothers, The Legend of Zelda movie will be released the following year after the Mario Bros. sequel.

French taxi driver charged with theft after David Lammy dispute
French taxi driver charged with theft after David Lammy dispute
French police have charged a taxi driver with stealing luggage and cash from *** Foreign Secretary David Lammy and his wife Nicola Green.
The driver allegedly sped off with the couple’s luggage after a row over a fare for the 360-mile journey from Forli, in Italy, to the French ski resort of Flaine, in Haute-Savoie.
The driver insisted he was owed 700 euros (£590) in cash for part of the journey not covered by an upfront payment to a booking service.
But the Foreign Office said in a statement the fare had been paid in full before they set off on their private holiday.
The taxi driver had a row with Ms Green before driving off with their luggage to a police station, where he made a complaint.
According to French newspaper la Provence, an investigation into a “commercial dispute” was opened by the Bonneville prosecutor’s office in Haute-Savoie.
A member of the foreign secretary’s office contacted the driver to get the luggage back, and it was allegedly deposited at a police station with a “considerable” sum of money missing from Ms Green’s bag, prompting her to make a statement to officers.
Bonneville prosecutor Boris Duffau told the BBC the taxi driver was now being charged with theft.
“An investigation has been opened following a disagreement regarding the payment of a taxi ride between Italy and France,” said Mr Duffau.
“After an investigation by French police, the Bonneville prosecutor’s office has decided to prosecute the taxi driver who has been summoned to appear at the Bonneville court on 3 November 2025.
“He has been charged with theft (of luggage and cash) to the detriment of Nicola Green and David Lindon Lammy.”
The couple had decided to take a private holiday in France after spending three days on a state visit to Italy with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Sources say they arranged their own transport, at their own expense, through booking company getTransfer.com.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) told the BBC there were no sensitive documents or laptops in the car and the foreign secretary had been travelling on his own personal passport, rather than a diplomatic one.
The FCDO strongly disputes the taxi driver’s version of events.
A spokesperson said: “The fare was paid in full.
“The foreign secretary and his wife are named as victims in this matter and the driver has been charged with theft.
“As there is an ongoing legal process, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
