Michigan summer road construction is back: What to know
Michigan summer road construction is back: What to know
Hitting the highway in metro Detroit? It might be best to leave a few minutes early and check MDOT and your favorite map app to plan for construction and the backups that can stem from it.
Diane Cross, spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of Transportation, or MDOT, projects are long-term plans and depend on funding.
Construction barrels and signage are up and ready to direct vehicles on where to go on the service drive of eastbound I-696 on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025.
“What drivers may call construction can be long-term projects, or maintenance work for safety, or permit work, which is an outside agency using our roads,” Cross said.
Though construction happens year-round, most of it happens April through November, Cross said. This summer, metro Detroit will see three major highway projects, along with several small, shorter ones.
I-75 in northern Oakland County
As a part of a $160-million project to resurface and repair Interstate 75 from M-15 to the Oakland/Genesee county line, a number of northbound and southbound I-75 exit and entrance ramps, including East Holly Road, Grange Hall Road, and northbound and southbound US-24, will be closed until late fall.
The project is expected to support 1,936 jobs, according to an MDOT news release.
M-14/I-96 in Livonia/ Plymouth
The northbound I-275 ramp to eastbound I-96 is expected to be closed until late June as a part of MDOT’s $140-million project to rebuild M-14/I-96 in the city of Livonia and Plymouth Township, Wayne County.
The full project, which is expected to support 1,336 jobs, has multiple phases and isn’t expected to be completed this construction season.
Maps and details about the project can be found at www.M14Reconstruction.org.
Eastbound I-696
The eastbound I-696 $260-million project is already underway and expected to last until 2027. The highway is closed from M-10 to I-75.

In Ecclesiastes, the ****** says, “Where There’s Life, There’s Hope.” Ixion replies, “Then let there be neither.” Ixion is a game that hates you. I don’t mean that it’s hard, well, it is, but this game wants to cause you as much anguish as possible, and I’m mostly okay with it. Well, that, or I am suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. In Ixion, you are responsible for a colonization effort in deep space. The planets you find are frozen, burning, corrosive, toxic or otherwise awful in various esoteric ways. Think of it as a combination of Sim City, Tetris and a realistic simulation of the Donner Party. So, get ready, the universe is a (very) hostile place. Let’s have a look at Bulwark Studios Ixion.

Do NOT Ignore This Weapon Stat if You Want to Be Dead Accurate in Helldivers 2
Do NOT Ignore This Weapon Stat if You Want to Be Dead Accurate in Helldivers 2
In Helldivers 2, going for the highest damage weapon is fun and all, but what if it doesn’t hit the target? You can have a gun that fires tank-splitting rounds, but if it feels like you’re dragging a fridge around every time you try to aim… good luck surviving a bug swarm.
To truly get the most out of your arsenal, you need to look past just damage, magazine size, and reload speed. There’s one sneaky little stat that separates sharp-shooting champions from clunky cannon fodder: Ergonomics.
It might sound like something you’d worry about when buying an office chair, but trust us, this stat is a game-changer.
What is Ergonomics in Helldivers 2, and why should you care?
In Helldivers 2, Ergonomics measures how quickly your weapon snaps back to center after you move your aim. Think of it like weapon agility. A high Ergonomics score makes your gun feel light, fast, and responsive; your crosshair glides and locks on like you’re in a sci-fi action movie.
A low Ergonomics stat, though? That’s when your gun lumbers around like it’s stuck in a tar pit, and by the time you’ve lined up a shot, your squad’s already vaporized the enemy.
One of the clearest signs of low Ergonomics? Try scoping in and adjusting your aim; if your crosshair takes a moment to catch up, your gun’s dragging behind. Especially when dealing with swarms of fast-moving threats (looking at you, Terminids), snappy aim is critical.
That’s why keeping your Ergonomics high is heavily recommended. The easiest way to increase it? Tinker with your attachments. Lighter or smaller attachments tend to boost Ergonomics, while heavier ones, like lasers and flashlights, drag it down.
In fact, just removing the default flashlight/laser combo can give you a small but noticeable boost. Sometimes, even big scopes can make your ergo go low, but choose wisely based on your weapon type.
Taking a scope off an SMG? Good idea, as you will be close to the enemy anyway. Taking it off a marksman rifle? Maybe not so much.
Not just attachments, Armor helps too
Big boomsticks mean nothing if you aim like a potato. | Image Credit: Arrowhead Game Studios
Attachments are helpful, but they’re not the only path to ergonomic excellence. Enter: armor passives, specifically the Peak Physique perk. This perk’s description says it best: “Improves weapons handling with less drag on weapon movement.”
Translation? It boosts Ergonomics by a whopping 30 points, making sluggish weapons feel much snappier. With Peak Physique, your weapon follows your aim faster, making it easier to snap between targets, especially in high-intensity fights.
It’s a godsend for bulkier weapons like the Dominator, Eruptor, or just about any Support Weapon that normally feels like you’re hauling a mini-fridge into battle. This perk can be found on armor sets from the Viper Commandos Warbond or some Superstore gear.
So next time you’re customizing your loadout for a dive, don’t just grab the biggest boomstick with the fattest mag. Take a second to check out your Ergonomics. A fast, responsive weapon can mean the difference between effortlessly mowing down hordes or waiting for your weapon to adjust to movement while your squad screams for backup.
In the end, whether you’re tweaking attachments or flexing your Peak Physique, optimizing your Ergonomics is one of the smartest things you can do to stay accurate, alive, and awesome. Happy blasting, Helldiver.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2025) Review: Power-Packed Performance in Compact Size
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2025) Review: Power-Packed Performance in Compact Size
The ROG Zephyrus series from Asus has always been special. In most cases, gaming laptops do come with state-of-the-art features and specifications. Still, they are usually quite bulky and heavy to carry around. And the Zephyrus series does solve this problem. The laptops broke the stereotypes with a sleek and lightweight design while still packing a powerful performance. The company is back with the 2025 iteration of the Zephyrus series with the launch of Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus G16.
While the G16 does come with its own set of perks, the ROG Zephyrus G14 packs a compact design and powerful internals. The gaming laptop from Asus comes with a hefty price of Rs. 2,79,990. That said, does it make any sense to go for this gaming machine in 2025? Let’s find out in this review.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Laptop Design: Sturdy and Colourful
Dimension – 311 x 220 x 18.3mm
Weight – 1.57kg
Colours – Eclipse Grey
Asus Zephyrus G14 (2025) offers a design similar to that of the previous generation model. But that’s the beauty of this laptop. The design is fairly minimalistic at first glance and screams sturdy build the moment you start using it. The dark grey colour option is both elegant and minimal. At the same time, the aluminium-alloy chassis adds a premium touch as well. Given the price tag, you will be satisfied with the design and build quality of the laptop.
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 comes loaded with an aluminum chassis that offers sturdy look and feel.
The lid also comes with the iconic Slash Lighting, a diagonal array of light on the lid. This is again similar to the previous year’s model, and functionality largely remains the same. You can customise the lighting patterns and animations through the Armoury Crate application, but that’s it. If you are someone who loves to have more complicated patterns or images, then this year’s Strix Scar series could be better suited for you, as it comes with the AniMe Matrix lid.
Once you open the lid, you will be greeted with a large keyboard and trackpad, along with hotkeys at the top. The whole body is based on metal, so there is little to no flex on the keyboard and lid. The hinge also feels sturdy, though it only goes back to 130 degrees, which is a bit limiting.
The laptop comes loaded with ample amount of connectivity ports to get things done.
As far as IO ports are concerned, the brand has done a fairly good job providing almost all the necessary ports. You get a 3.5mm audio jack, one USB 4 Type-C port, one USB Type-A port, an HDMI 2.0 FRL port, and a charging port. On the right, you will be greeted with one USB 3.2 Gen USB Type-C port, one USB Type-A port, and a microSD card reader. I liked that the company has kept the Type-C and Type-A ports on both sides, making it easier to access.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Display: Smooth and Vibrant
Display – 14-inch ROG Nebula OLED screen
Resolution – 3K (1800×2880 pixels)
Refresh Rate – 120Hz G-SYNC
Asus has added its tried and tested Nebula display to the ROG Zephyrus G14. The laptop comes loaded with a 3K OLED panel that offers a 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, factory-calibrated with a Delta E < 1, HDR, Dolby Vision, and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus + MUX Switch. The display is probably almost similar to last year’s model. The Nebula display provides a good experience during my testing with punchy colours, deep *******, and excellent contrasts.
The laptop comes equipped with a 14-inch 3K OLED display that offers 120Hz screen refresh rate.
The display also supports HDR and Dolby Vision, meaning that you can enjoy high-quality content on Netflix and YouTube. I love to watch anime series in my free time, and I must say, I really enjoyed watching content on this laptop. While watching Re: ZERO – Starting Life in Another World, the colours came out to be perfect, while the deep ******* in the darker scenes were handled nicely.
Moreover, while playing Doom: The Dark Ages, I noticed the colours were accurate, and the high screen refresh rate made the gameplay experience even smoother. That said, the laptop also comes with a 500nits of peak brightness, which is enough for indoor use. However, if you are using the machine outdoors in a cafe or airport, you will face glare due to its glossy display.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Keyboard, Touchpad, Speakers, and Webcam
Keyboard – Backlit keyboard
Webcam – 1080p IR camera
Speakers – Four Speakers with Smart Amp Technology + Dolby Atmos
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 features the same backlit keyboard, which was there in the 2024 iteration. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing, as the keyboard is still one of the most comfortable ones when it comes to typing. I love using the keyboard as it provides the right amount of key travel and a slightly cushiony feel, making it easier for longer typing sessions.
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 features a single-zone RGB backlit keyboard that offers a comfortable typing experience.
It also comes with RGB backlit LEDs, which are bright enough and customisable through the Armoury Crate application. You can select different animations for the backlit, which is a good thing. More importantly, you also get customisable four hotkeys, which you can configure according to your preference.
The touchpad is fairly large and offers a smooth experience. There is no wobble during the scrolling experience. You get multi-touch gesture support, but I would have really liked the company to give its edge gestures, which are also present in the usual Zenbook series, to further elevate the experience.
The device also packs a 1080p IR camera that supports Windows Hello feature.
In terms of security, you get an IR-based camera for Windows Hello support, which works fine, even when the lights are dim. The 1080p camera is also decent for video calls, though there is no physical shutter.
Coming to the speakers, I am quite surprised Asus has managed to improve the performance while retaining the compact size. The four-speaker setup (dual force woofer) is loud and offers good details even at high volumes. So, whether you are playing a game or watching a movie/series, you will enjoy the audio coming from the laptop.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Software: Smart Connect Works Well
Operating System – Windows 11 Home
Other Features – MyAsus, Armoury Crate
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 runs the Windows 11 operating system. This is a CoPilot+ PC, meaning you can use all the AI features available from Microsoft on this device. The dedicated NPU that comes with the AMD XDNA NPU is also present, which can provide 50 TOPS with this gaming laptop.
Moving on, the app that you should be focusing on is the Armoury Crate application. It is a one-stop destination for customising the settings of this gaming laptop. And the interface is quite simple to use. The app has different sections through which you can change the patterns of Slash Lighting, change RGB patterns, customise the performance of the laptop, and more. You can also customise the profile. Asus gives you four different power profiles: Silent, Performance, Turbo, and Manual. These profiles can be used to customise the power settings and fan speeds.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Performance: Reliable for Daily Usage
Chipset – AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Processor
RAM – 32GB LPDDR5X-8000
ROM – 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD
GPU – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070Ti (12GB GDDR7)
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is powered by the latest AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor that offers up to 5.1GHz of boost frequency, 12 cores, 24 threads, and 36MB cache. It also comes loaded with AMD XDNA NPU that delivers 50 TOPS performance for AI-related tasks. Moreover, the gaming laptop is also loaded with the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070Ti graphics with 85W + 25W TGP and 12GB GDDR7 RAM. It is equipped with 32GB of LPDDR5X 8000 RAM and 2TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD storage. Although the RAM is soldered, you get an expansion slot for storage.
Talking about the performance, you get the best possible combination at this price point. The flagship AMD processor, which is mated with the latest RTX graphics card, handles almost all the tasks you throw at it. Whether it be for office purposes or gaming, this is a versatile machine that gives the best of both worlds.

The daily performance is snappy and can also handle the load during multitasking. I opened around 40 Chrome tabs, played a video in the background, and played Shadow of the Tomb Raider. And the laptop glided through these intense tasks with no real slowdown.
The gaming laptop comes equipped with a powerful performance in this price segment.
Interestingly, when you set it to the highest performance mode (GPU to Ultimate and power profile to Turbo), you can then unlock most of the power of the gaming laptop. I played Doom: The Dark Ages on this machine, and it went smoothly while giving 60FPS with DLSS off. With DLSS 4.0 on, I comfortably got around 120 FPS. During Shadow of the Tomb Raider (preset at the highest setting, no ray tracing), it comfortably ran around 118fps. Even with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, I got close to 70fps with the ray-tracing Ultra preset and DLSS 3.5.
That said, most of the popular AAA games ran smoothly on this gaming laptop. And if you want better frame rates, then activating DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation can undoubtedly make a huge difference.
Coming to the thermals, since it is a compact machine, you should expect the temperature to increase. The brand has added a slightly better cooling system to the Zephyrus G14. However, it still gets hot during gameplay, which can sometimes result in throttling. This is especially true when you keep the device flat on the surface. However, keeping it at an inclined angle surely helps with heat management. Another downside I noticed was that the fan gets loud when you play games for a longer session.
That said, my unit also came up with a fault, which prevented the device from coming out of sleep. This was problematic at first, as I had to force restart the device every time it went to sleep. However, disabling the Sleep option solved this issue. I also reached out to the Asus team to understand this issue, and they added that it is a Windows bug, which should be resolved with an upcoming update.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Laptop Battery: Average
Battery Capacity – 73Wh Lithium Polymer (Typical)
Fast Charging – 200W Adapter
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 comes loaded with a 73Wh battery, and the company ships a 200W fast charger. It also comes with 100W *** charging support, which is a good addition. That said, all such high performance does take a toll on the battery life. With the Silent mode, you can comfortably get around 5 hours of battery backup, while with some heavy multitasking, it drops to 3 to 4 hours. Moreover, if you set the device to Performance mode and play some games, you will get roughly 50 to 60 minutes of battery backup. The results are not that impressive.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Laptop Verdict
The 2025 iteration of the Zephyrus G14 does bring some interesting and useful upgrades to the table. The device is future-proof with the kind of specifications it offers. And it is not just your usual gaming laptop but a hybrid one. You can live a dual life—office work during the day and gaming at night—without much hassle with this laptop. The minimalistic design does not scream gamer vibes, which most gaming laptops do.
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 offers good performance, while retaining the compact form factor.
The display is sharp and one of the best from the brand. The gaming performance is up to par, and you can play most of the AAA titles on this machine. However, it sure comes with some limitations, with the compact size and heat management being one of those. Moreover, the battery is not that great, but it’s doable most of the time. That said, if you are looking for a portable gaming laptop that handles most tasks and high-end gaming, then you can definitely consider the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14.

Moderna Stock Looks Ripe for a Short Squeeze
Moderna Stock Looks Ripe for a Short Squeeze
Moderna (NASDAQ:) is down 35% in 2025, making it one of the worst-performing stocks among medical stocks and the broader market. Not surprisingly, the stock is down over 80% in the last 12 months. What may surprise investors is that the Moderna stock is down approximately 60% over the last five years. That means the stock has given back all the gains it made when the company’s COVID-19 vaccine entered the market, and then some.
One reason for Moderna’s sharp fall is the overall sentiment surrounding vaccines in general and mRNA (messenger RNA) technology in particular.
However, the stock has made single-digit gains in the last month, which could suggest investors are seeing a bottom. Other data points suggest that any bullish news could send Moderna stock much higher.
Why MRNA Stock Continues to Drift Lower
The words “vaccine skepticism” are now part of our national discourse around healthcare. The appointment of Robert Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health & Human Services has accelerated this discourse, which is creating some concern about the likelihood of vaccine approvals in the Trump administration.
Another example of news impacting the stock came on May 21. Moderna announced it was pulling its application for its combination flu/COVID-19 vaccine candidate. The company wants to wait on efficacy data from the ongoing late-stage trial of its influenza shot, which will be out later this year.
However, Moderna gave investors a heads-up on that news in early May. At that time, the company said it didn’t anticipate the combination shot would be approved until 2026 because more data on its flu shot was needed.
A third piece of news impacting the stock is the Trump administration’s recent move to give the United States “most-favored nation” status regarding pharmaceutical prices. The concern is that this will be a de facto form of price control.
However, it should be noted that Moderna stock has been up since that announcement, suggesting that the stock has formed a bottom.
MRNA Is Still the Future of Drug Discovery
Before 2020, most Americans had never heard of mRNA technology. However, drug companies have been experimenting with the technology since the late 1960s. Today, mRNA vaccines have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional vaccines.
The key benefits are ease of production, a lower production cost, a safety profile and high potency that make them ideal candidates for preventing and treating infectious diseases. This development process was aided by artificial intelligence in 2020, and AI will only help make mRNA drug development more efficient.
However, it’s important to note that the roots of mRNA were in developing a ******* vaccine. Moderna has several oncology vaccine candidates, including some in late-stage clinical trials. Although they may still be years away from approval, the fact that they are in development, many in partnership with Merck (NYSE:), shouldn’t be quickly dismissed.
How Likely Is a Short Squeeze?
Investors should consider two questions. First, are the conditions right for a short squeeze? That answer is undeniably yes. As of this writing, Moderna’s short interest data on MarketBeat shows that over 60 million shares are short.
That would require nearly six days of average trading volume to cover. If sentiment around the stock were to turn bullish, that’s a lot of fuel.
The second question is what might cause that sentiment to reverse?
The simple answer is that the sell-off in Moderna stock simply looks overdone. The positive news about vaccine boosters in the highest-risk market is advantageous to Moderna.
It shouldn’t be dismissed that the company has a deep pipeline and, for now, enough cash to get other candidates across the finish line.
Options Activity Suggests a Higher Price by Mid-Summer
A quick look at the options chain for Moderna in mid-August shows a significant number of call options with a $30 stock price. That would be after the company’s earnings report on August 7, suggesting that traders believe there could be a strong move in the stock.
Analysts have been lowering their price targets on Moderna stock since the company reported earnings in early May. However, the consensus price target of $53.95 is more than 100% higher than the stock’s price on May 21.
That would still have the stock price around its late 2020 levels before its COVID-19 vaccine was approved.

Thermal Grizzly’s open-air der8enchtable is designed for dedicated PC tinkerers
Thermal Grizzly’s open-air der8enchtable is designed for dedicated PC tinkerers
At Computex 2025, Thermal Grizzly’s new der8enchtable caught our eye in a busy booth crammed with specialist cooling and overclocking gear. The amusingly named product looks ungainly as sold, but actually facilitates fast and efficient PC hardware testing – in essence, it is an open-all-angles PC case. Aimed at content creators, professional users, and extreme overclockers.
Thermal Grizzly’s der8enchtable
This modular, user-friendly bench table should be well-thought-out, as it was a collaborative design from overclocking experts Roman ‘der8auer’ Hartung (of course) and ElmorLabs. Think of it as an elevated motherboard tray, and those metal struts and supports that rise from it help you visualize which PC parts go where.

Breaking it down, dotted around the large horizontal PCB area are quite lofty motherboard standoffs. Moving around the edges, you can see connectors for fans, internal USB connectors, power and reset buttons, microSD card slots, SATA ports, more USB, a pump connector zone, another fan connector zone, auxiliary power inputs, and yet another array of fan sockets. Some of these functions might typically be addressed by a PC case, but the features here are far more extensive.
You may like
You will also see a ‘goal’ shaped structure rising above the der8enchtable, and this offers sturdy metal support to any PCIe cards you might wish to install on your motherboard of choice. On another edge of the benchtable you can see thick metal bars reach upwards, with ****** holes ready to fit a range of air and AIO cooling solutions.
Last but not least, the der8enchtable hasn’t forgotten to add that all-important active PCB and D-RGB lightning. Hopefully, we will get more technical details, a demonstration, and pricing and availability for the der8enchtable, shortly.
Other new Thermal Grizzly products
Another major addition to the Thermal Grizzly family of products is the DeltaMate product line. This range builds on previous work on the Mycro series of direct-die water cooling equipment, and wraps up the tech into a “complete, visually cohesive range of water-cooling components.”
Of course, the new DeltaMate line supports the latest high-end processors and graphics cards. CPU support seems extensive, with AMD AM5 and Intel LGA 1851 CPU sockets listed as compatible. However, for GPUs, the first DeltaMate GPU Block only works on the premium Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090 cards…

Thermal Grizzly also showcased its WireView Pro in prototype stage. The firm describes this as “an improved version of the trusted tool for measuring the power consumption of graphics cards.” It is used for tuning GPUs to get the best overclocks. Here, special attention has been made to detecting common issues with the notorious 12VHPWR power connector, offering per-pin current monitoring. Thus, it is easy to be alerted if there is an unbalanced load situation, and the WireView Pro even includes an integrated fire extinguisher fan to help prevent heat build-up.
An array of new thermal pastes and pads was also on display at the Thermal Grizzly exhibit – check out the above galleries.

Government to press ahead with shorter prison sentence plans
Government to press ahead with shorter prison sentence plans
Sentencing reforms aimed at easing prison overcrowding have been mostly accepted by the government, the justice secretary has said, although she has rejected allowing early releases for the most serious offenders.
The government commissioned an Independent Sentencing Review by former Conservative Lord Chancellor David Gauke, who concluded major reforms were needed to “end the dangerous cycle of emergency releases”.
Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood told the Commons she will proceed with most of Gauke’s recommendations, including earlier release for some offenders.
Shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick labelled the plans as a “get out of jail free card for dangerous criminals”.
The government also confirmed it would expand a pilot scheme offering chemical castration to some prisoners, with a view to making it nationwide and potentially mandatory.
Last year, thousands of inmates were released early in an emergency measure to deal with prison overcrowding.
Gauke’s early release recommendations relate to the “earned progression model” for offenders, inspired by reforms to high-security, supermax prisons in the US state of Texas, which the BBC visited with Mahmood in February.
The model sees offenders progressing through three stages, with good behaviour rewarded by early release after completing a third of their sentence. If not, prisoners stay in jail until they have served 50%.
There are concerns some of these prisoners on standard determinate sentences could include sex offenders and perpetrators of domestic abuse.
But Mahmood ruled out allowing early releases for the most serious offenders – those incarcerated for serious violent, *******, or terrorist offences on extended determinate sentences – saying these prisoners will continue to have to serve at least two-thirds of their sentence.
She also confirmed the expansion of a small pilot scheme offering voluntary chemical castration to some sex offenders to 20 prisons after the report said that trial should continue.
Mahmood told MPs the government is exploring whether to enforce chemical castration as mandatory.

Thai ex-PM Yingluck told to pay $474m over rice scheme
Thai ex-PM Yingluck told to pay $474m over rice scheme
A Thai court on Thursday ordered self-exiled former premier Yingluck Shinawatra to pay 10 billion baht ($A474 million) in damages over a botched rice-pledging scheme that saw her sentenced in 2017 to five years in prison for negligence.
Yingluck, one of four members of the billionaire Shinawatra family to have served as prime minister, has been living overseas to avoid jail for failing to prevent corruption in the rice scheme, which paid farmers up to 50 per cent above market prices and caused massive losses to the state.
The program, a flagship policy of her populist Pheu Thai party, cost the state billions of dollars and led to millions of tons of rice going unsold.
Thailand is the world’s second-largest rice exporter.
Thursday’s ruling was on Yingluck’s appeal against a previous order to pay 35 billion baht in damages to the finance ministry.
“The accused performed duties with gross negligence that caused damage to the state and therefore must pay compensation,” the Supreme Administrative Court said, adding the previous order exceeded the legal threshold of her responsibility and was unlawful.
Yingluck, 57, came to power in 2011 after a landslide election victory and resigned just days before her government was ousted in a coup in 2014.
She is the aunt of current Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and younger sister of former premier and political heavyweight Thaksin Shinawatra.
Thursday’s verdict comes less than two years after her family’s Pheu Thai party returned to power after a decade in the political wilderness, coinciding with influential brother Thaksin coming home after 15 years in self-exile to avoid jail.
The Shinawatras have consistently denied wrongdoing and have long maintained they have been victims of political vendettas by powerful figures in the conservative establishment and royalist military.
Yingluck on Thursday said the order to pay 10 billion baht was excessive.
“Even if I repaid it my entire life, it would never be enough,” she said on social media.
“I will continue to demand and fight for justice.”

Nestle to refocus on core business, says CEO Freixe
Nestle to refocus on core business, says CEO Freixe
STORY: Swiss food giant Nestle will refocus on its core business after diversification into different types of products “weakened the fabric” of the company.
:: File
That’s according to its boss Laurent Freixe, who took over the company in September.
He told the Financial Times that straying into segments like health supplements meant its core brands in coffee, petcare and food were neglected.
He said he only saw merits in slimming down the group’s portfolio in places where Nestle wasn’t in a position to win.
In another interview earlier this week, Friexe revealed that Nestle, owner of brands including Nescafe and KitKat, is recovering market share in the U.S.
That’s despite concerns of impact from President Donald Trump’s trade tariffs…
… and American consumers feeling unsettled by a slowdown in the economy.
Leading with an attitude that “M&A is not the strategy”, Friexe branded Nestle as “on the right track.”

Airlines are facing an uphill battle during peak travel season as delivery delays at Boeing and Airbus fuel a commercial jet shortage.
The ongoing capacity issue remains a cause of concern for the industry even as many appear upbeat on the demand outlook.
“Demand looks good for the summer,” EasyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Europe” on Thursday.
“As you said, our book position for both our third quarter, which ends in June, and our fourth quarter, which ends in September, are ahead of where they were this time last year. We’re also seeing very positive bookings in our holidays position.”
His comments come shortly after the British low-cost carrier reported a pre-tax loss of £394 million ($529 million) for the six months through to the end of March, compared with a £350 million loss for the same ******* in 2024.
EasyJet said current bookings indicate it will meet expectations for full-year profit, although investors appeared to be disappointed by the results. Shares of the company were trading down 4% at around 1 p.m. London time.
Looking ahead, EasyJet’s Jarvis singled out airline deliveries as one of the firm’s key challenges.
“The main capacity constraints are around airline deliveries, with both Airbus and Boeing not meeting their original delivery schedules and therefore all airlines receiving their aircraft later. And that’s why we only see kind of [a] 1%, 2%, 3% increase in capacity this summer,” Jarvis said.
“We can see that there is more demand in the market and yet the supply from the airlines will be more modest this year,” he added.
Aviation experts told CNBC at the start of the year that delivery delays at Boeing and supply chain problems were likely to take years to resolve.
‘A real tailwind of declining oil prices’
Boeing, which has been beset by a series of crises and production problems in recent years, said last week that it had delivered 45 commercial jets in April, nearly twice as many it delivered during the same month a year ago. The upswing in deliveries takes place as the U.S. planemaker scrambles to stabilize production.
European rival Airbus, meanwhile, said it had delivered 56 jets last month, down 8% from the same ******* a year earlier.
Aviation analytics firm Cirium said last month that first-quarter delivery totals for Boeing and Airbus suggested that both companies were likely to face “significant challenges” if they were to achieve their respective 2025 targets.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said there were some early signs of improvement regarding aircraft deliveries.
“Boeing, to be fair, have improved significantly. We had the last five of this summer’s deliveries in April. Every single one of these aircraft came a couple of days early, which is a good sign,” O’Leary told CNBC’s “Europe Early Edition” on Friday.
He was also optimistic about the outlook for the broader aviation industry.
“I think the airline sector generally, this summer, is looking at strong demand, reasonable pricing but with a real tailwind of declining oil prices coming through,” O’Leary said.

Analysts are getting even more bullish on this cloud stock after earnings beat
Analysts are getting even more bullish on this cloud stock after earnings beat
Analysts see even more gains ahead for Snowflake after on the back of the cloud-based data storage company’s strong strong first-quarter print. The cloud company posted first-quarter earnings and revenue that beat analyst expectations. On top of that, Snowflake raised its fiscal 2026 revenue outlook. The results and updated guidance sent shares more than 9% higher in the premarket. The company has benefitted from higher enterprise spending from companies prioritizing artificial intelligence spending and looking to shift their workloads to the cloud. Its AI deals with other startups have also broadened its customer base to companies looking to build AI agents through its platform. The results led to many Wall Street shops upping their price targets on the stock, including Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley and UBS. Take a look at what they had to say: Deutsche Bank: reiterates buy, lifts price target by $5 to $225 Analyst Brad Zelnick’s new price target suggests Snowflake shares could jump 25.6% from Wednesday’s close. Zelnick said the results affirmed his views heading into the year that support Snowflake as a top pick. “At the heart of the stock debate is Snowflake’s ability to attract Data Science and AI workloads to drive the next leg of growth beyond core business analytics, and we believe this quarter showed evidence of why they are getting seat at that table,” Zelnick said. “Following strong F1Q upside the setup from the rest of the year now looks far less backend load for Product revenue, where encouraging F2Q guidance suggests another very strong quarter of net new consumption growth and potential top-line reacceleration for the first time in years.” Morgan Stanley: keeps equal weight rating, raises price target by $15 to $200 Analyst Keith Weiss raised his price target but said he is waiting for a better entry point given Snowflake’s current valuation. “A stable core, ongoing benefits from sales changes, and traction with new products are translating into sustained growth in product revenues. With secular prospects improving, priority for data infra rising and margins heading higher, we would take advantage of pullbacks to get more constructive,” Weiss wrote in a note to clients. JPMorgan: stays overweight, raises price target by $15 to $225 Analyst Mark Murphy highlighted Snowflake’s “robust” pace of product delivery, and that the company brought more than 125 products to market in the first quarter alone, translating to a 100% year-over-year increase. “Overall, we remain constructive on Snowflake’s ability to deliver improving growth trends as new features increasingly contribute to the top line, while we maintain our longstanding thesis that the AI center of gravity is increasingly shifting to the data layer,” Murphy wrote in a note. “Considering the large TAM, superb management team, and impressive trajectory, Snowflake could grow into and beyond the current valuation in future years, in our view.” UBS: maintains neutral rating, lifts price target by $10 to $200 Analyst Karl Keirstead said Snowflake’s current multiples don’t seem unreasonable and raised his price target to a “justified premium” given the stock’s high-growth peer group. “Of note was the very strong 2Q/Jul guidance and the absence of any ‘macro’ commentary (Snowflake said that it saw no usage pressure or change),” the analyst said. “Bottom line, the print should bolster Street confidence in enterprise data spend in 2025, a theme that is also lifting Palantir and Databricks. Even at CY26/FY27E multiples of 12.0x revs and 47x FCF, we expect some follow-through in the stock.” Bank of America: remains neutral, increases price target by $48 to $220 Analyst Brad Sills’ new price target implies shares could gain 22.8%. “We are raising our PO to $220 from $172 to reflect solid Q1 results, which suggest that Snowflake continues to benefit from improving consumption trends in the installed base,” Sills wrote in a note. “However, we reiterate Neutral. With only 3 net new Global 2000 customers adds, the shift to cloud in data warehouse is perhaps slowing. While commentary suggests that new workloads are ramping, we question whether these will be material enough to offset slowing growth in the core over time.”
