  2. This five-star Apple Mac mini (M4) is down to a record-low price of $689.99 at Amazon This five-star Apple Mac mini (M4) is down to a record-low price of $689.99 at Amazon If all the MacBook deals are tempting you, but you simply don’t need the portability, we have the deal for you. Currently, you can buy the Apple Mac mini (M4) at Amazon for $689.99 (was $729), which is a record low for the popular and tiny desktop computer with 512GB of storage. Previously, this version of the Apple Mac mini (M4) hit a low of $699 at the start of April, so it’s a touch lower still today. To get the price, you’ll need to tick the apply coupon box on the Amazon site, which is no great hardship at all. As mentioned, this particular model comes with 512GB SSD storage along with 16GB unified memory and a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The Mac mini has removable, modular storage compared to previous models’ soldered-on components, but for convenience, it’s still useful to be all set for storage without needing to open it up for yourself. It’s ideal for slotting into your home office without taking up too much room. If you don’t think you’ll need that much storage and want to spend less, the 256GB model is also down to $499.99 at Amazon. Today’s best Mac mini deal Our Apple Mac mini (M4) review couldn’t be much more complimentary. We called it potentially the “best Mac ever”, citing how it’s “smaller, faster, [and] better” than before. It combines power and affordability, happily gaining a place in our look at the best computers. Unsurprisingly, then, it’s the best choice for anyone seeking one of the best Macs without needing the portability of the MacBook range. Our only real criticisms are relatively minor: the front USB-C ports are slower than the rear ones and the power button placement is “awkward”, but other than that, it offers “great performance” in a “more compact design” than before. Modern games will struggle a little here, but I’ve played favorites like World of Warcraft on a similar MacOS setup and had no issue. For work needs, its “virtually silent” compact design is a huge advantage. If you want to see the alternatives, take a look at the best mini PCs. You may learn that one of the MacBook Pro deals going on might suit you better. As the Mac mini isn’t made for gaming, there are some great gaming PC deals happening too. 4. Is Nvidia a Millionaire-Maker Stock? Is Nvidia a Millionaire-Maker Stock? Shares in Nvidia have soared over the past decades. But can the momentum continue? Artificial intelligence (AI) tech is maturing, but its long-term viability remains unclear. 10 stocks we like better than Nvidia › Over the last few decades, the American technology sector has made boatloads of millionaires — not only for founders and CEOs, but also for the thousands of regular people who work at these companies or buy their stock. With shares up by over 23,000% over the last decade, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) is the quintessential example of this phenomenon. But as we all know, past performance doesn’t guarantee future returns. And with a market cap of $3.2 trillion, Nvidia is already one of the largest companies on Earth, giving it less room to grow. Let’s dig deeper to see what the future might bring for this legendary chipmaker. While Nvidia started its life focusing on consumer video game graphics and cryptocurrency mining, both of those once-core operations have become totally overshadowed by generative AI. As of the fourth quarter, the data center segment (where Nvidia accounts for sales of cutting-edge AI chips) represented a jaw-dropping 91% of its $39.3 billion in sales for the *******. This level of concentration means that a large portion of Nvidia’s valuation is tied to the prospects of this one industry. If AI tech exceeds expectations, so will Nvidia. But if the sector falls flat, well — you know the drill. Right now, it still feels too early to know how things will play out. Analysts at Jeffries seem wildly optimistic. Their research suggests that three-quarters of businesses already use generative AI in at least one function, and they expect it to drive $1.1 trillion in revenue by 2028. But investors shouldn’t necessarily take these projections at face value. Even if AI becomes a part of mainstream life, there is no guarantee that big profits will follow. And this puts Nvidia’s clients in a tough spot. Despite the hype, generative AI remains wildly unprofitable. While giants like Alphabet and Meta Platforms can hide their AI losses within their vast research and development budgets, the scale of the problem is much clearer with pure-play AI companies like OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT. The Economist reports that while the start-up’s 2024 revenue tripled to $3.7 billion, losses ballooned to $5 billion. And while OpenAI’s management believes it can achieve $12 billion in cash flow by 2029, this is far from guaranteed due to the intense competition in the industry. Story Continues ******** open-source rival DeepSeek shows that competitive AI models can be created (arguably) at a fraction of the cost of their U.S. counterparts, which means early leaders may not have much of an economic moat, especially when the technology matures and the rate of model improvement slows. If profit potential shrinks, so will the market for Nvidia’s expensive hardware. Image source: Getty Images. Nvidia will also face challenges on the hardware side of the industry as companies seek to diversify their supply chains. In April, the Trump administration effectively banned the company from selling its h20 chips to ******** clients. While Nvidia has already started work on a new compliant chip, it is unclear if ******** companies will be willing to build their businesses around Nvidia hardware, given the unpredictability of U.S. regulations. Rivals like Huawei are working to take market share. Nvidia is a big player in a potentially transformational industry, so there is little doubt it can continue to outperform the market over the long term (even though there will be short-term volatility). That said, the easy money has already been made. New investors shouldn’t expect this legendary chipmaker to repeat the multibagger returns it enjoyed over the previous decades. You can attribute the slower progress to the challenging dynamics on both the software and hardware sides of the AI industry. 7. After a 15-year battle, Harvard agrees in settlement to relinquish early photos of slaves After a 15-year battle, Harvard agrees in settlement to relinquish early photos of slaves BOSTON (AP) — Harvard University will relinquish 175-year-old photographs believed to be the earliest taken of enslaved people to a South Carolina museum devoted to African American history as part of a settlement with one of the subjects’ descendants. The photos of the subjects identified by Tamara Lanier as her great-great-great-grandfather Renty, whom she calls “Papa Renty,” and his daughter Delia will be transferred from the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology to the International African American Museum in South Carolina, the state where they were enslaved in 1850 when the photos were taken, a lawyer for Lanier said Wednesday. The settlement marks the end of a 15-year battle between Lanier and the nation’s most elite university to release the 19th-century “daguerreotypes,” a precursor to modern-day photographs. Lanier’s attorney Joshua Koskoff told The Associated Press that the resolution is an “unprecedented” victory for descendants of those enslaved in the U.S. and praised his client’s yearslong determination in pursuing justice for her ancestors. “I think it’s one of one in American history, because of the combination of unlikely features: to have a case that dates back 175 years, to win control over images dating back that long of enslaved people — that’s never happened before,” Koskoff said in a phone interview. The AP sent an email seeking comment from Harvard. A complex history Lanier, who lives in Connecticut, sued the Ivy League institution in 2019 for “wrongful seizure, possession and expropriation” of the images of Renty, Delia and five other enslaved individuals. The suit attacked Harvard for its “exploitation” of Renty’s image at a 2017 conference and in other uses. It said Harvard has capitalized on the photos by demanding a “hefty” licensing fee to reproduce the images. The daguerreotypes were commissioned by Harvard biologist Louis Agassiz, whose theories on racial difference were used to support slavery in the U.S. The lawsuit says Agassiz came across Renty and Delia while touring plantations in search of racially “pure” slaves born in Africa. To create the images, both Renty and Delia were posed shirtless and photographed from several angles. “To Agassiz, Renty and Delia were nothing more than research specimens,” the suit says. “The violence of compelling them to participate in a degrading exercise designed to prove their own subhuman status would not have occurred to him, let alone mattered.” In 2022, the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled in Lanier’s favor and reaffirmed the merits of Lanier’s lawsuit against Harvard after a lower court judge ruled she had no legal claim to the images. The state’s highest court recognized “Harvard’s complicity in the horrific actions surrounding the creation of the daguerreotypes,” saying that “Harvard’s present obligations cannot be divorced from its past abuses.” A new home for Renty and Delia In a statement Wednesday, CEO of the International African American Museum Dr. Tonya M. Matthews called Harvard’s relinquishing of the images a moment “175 years in the making.” “The bravery, tenacity, and grace shown by Ms. Lanier throughout the long and arduous process of returning these critical pieces of Renty and Delia’s story to South Carolina is a model for us all,” she said. The South Carolina museum has committed to working with Lanier and including her in decisions about how the story of the images will be told. “It’s not an improvement just to move them from one closet in a mighty institution to another. And so really, the real importance of this is to allow these images to breathe, to allow the story — the full story — to be told not by a conflicted player in the story, which Harvard was from the beginning,” Koskoff said. The attorney said “everybody has the right to tell the story of their own families.” “That’s the least, most basic right we might have,” he said. “To be able to tell the story of her family with a museum that will allow her to tell it — I mean, you can’t do any better than that.” In Lanier’s lawsuit, she asked for Harvard to acknowledge its complicity in slavery, listen to Lanier’s oral family history and pay an unspecified sum in damages. An undisclosed financial settlement was part of the resolution with Harvard announced Wednesday, but Koskoff said Harvard still hasn’t publicly acknowledged Lanier’s connection to them or its connection to perpetuating slavery in the U.S., Koskoff said. “That is just left unanswered by Harvard,” he said. He said Lanier isn’t expecting or waiting to hear from the institution, but that the settlement speaks for itself. “In the end, the truth will find you — you can you can only hide from it for so long,” he said. “Yes, history is written by the winners. But over time, you know, those winners look like losers sometimes.” Source link #15year #battle #Harvard #agrees #settlement #relinquish #early #photos #slaves Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

And now, as fans continue to explore the dreamlike world of Expedition 33, everyone’s wondering: what’s next? Eyes on the future: What’s Sandfall Interactive cooking up next? With one of the most talked-about RPG debuts in recent memory, Sandfall Interactive isn’t looking to slow down. In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, producer François Meurisse confirmed that a new game is definitely in the pipeline, though the studio is tight-lipped on the details. The only hints so far? There are exciting ideas brewing, and creative director Guillaume Broche is already sketching the blueprint for their next adventure. While fans are hoping for another emotionally rich experience, Sandfall isn’t rushing the reveal. We’ll start from a more efficient position than when we started the company five years ago. […] But I can say that we have – and Guillaume in particular has – great ideas for the next game. However, development on the new title should be quicker this time around. With the success of Expedition 33, the studio has grown its team and learned invaluable lessons from its debut project. Meurisse hinted that they’re now starting from a far more “efficient position” than when they first formed the studio, though he also acknowledged that expectations are much higher now. 10. The Nintendo Switch 2 may not be Nvidia’s only handheld – a rumor says it’s building a new mobile gaming chip, and I’m excited for portable DLSS The Nintendo Switch 2 may not be Nvidia’s only handheld – a rumor says it’s building a new mobile gaming chip, and I’m excited for portable DLSS Nvidia could be releasing a gaming laptop APU soon, according to rumors It’s slated to release at either Q4 2025 or Q1 2026 It could be a chance for Nvidia to use its hardware for a handheld gaming PC AMD and Intel are continuously competing with each other within the SoC market for laptops and handheld gaming PCs – and one of their fierce rivals looks poised to join the party. According to a reputable leaker, Moore’s Law Is Dead, Nvidia has a new gaming laptop processor slated for release between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026. This would be akin to AMD’s Ryzen Strix Halo APUs, with an iGPU as the driving force for gaming performance. It’s also expected to have a TDP (power consumption) between 80 and 120W. It’s best to take leaks and rumors as such with a grain of salt; Nvidia’s recent heavy focus on AI suggests that gaming would be an afterthought, so a gaming laptop SoC would be a surprise, to say the least. However, if this is legitimate, it may be a starting point for Nvidia SoCs coming to handheld gaming PCs. You may like As it stands, the Nintendo Switch 2 is the only handheld gaming device in this generation that will have access to Team Green’s DLSS upscaling method, using the Tegra T239 processor – and it’s worth noting that DLSS is a significant advantage the Switch 2 holds over current handheld gaming PCs. We’ve seen both Intel and AMD’s laptop processors used in handhelds, notably the former’s Core Ultra 7 258V in the MSI Claw 8 AI+. Essentially, the same could apply to Nvidia’s rumored SoC and could be a strong challenge to its competitors by providing great gaming performance. Analysis: A high-tier Nvidia SoC would take the handheld gaming market by storm (Image credit: Siberian Art / Shutterstock) While Nvidia’s Tegra T239 processor will be used in the Switch 2, with DLSS also available, I yearn for an Nvidia mobile processor of a higher tier, and this sounds like it could be it. Gamers using the likes of an Asus ROG Ally X or MSI Claw 8 AI+, only have access to FSR 3 and XeSS, respectively. I’m not saying those upscaling methods are any slouch, but they would have a hard time competing against DLSS (at least DLSS 3), as they do on the desktop GPU end. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. It may not be the same with handhelds, but DLSS on desktop gaming PCs has been the game-changing tool for a while, providing smooth performance through upscaling a lower internal resolution. I admit, I’m not a fan of game devs relying on the technology for steady performance in games (because they’re so poorly optimized), but it’s hard to deny the benefits of DLSS. If this were available for handhelds, I could easily see it outshining both Team Red and Team Blue’s efforts, especially on a smaller display. Let’s just hope this purported SoC isn’t only coming to gaming laptops… You may also like… Source link #Nintendo #Switch #Nvidias #handheld #rumor #building #mobile #gaming #chip #excited #portable #DLSS Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

  12. ******* court rejects Peruvian farmer’s landmark climate case ******* court rejects Peruvian farmer’s landmark climate case Vanessa Buschschlüter BBC News Reuters Saúl Luciano Lliuya says water in Lake Palcacocha has increased, putting his hometown at risk A court in Germany has rejected a lawsuit brought by a Peruvian farmer against ******* energy giant RWE in a long-awaited decision. Saúl Luciano Lliuya had argued that the firm’s global emissions contributed to the melting of glaciers in Peru – threatening his hometown of Huaraz with flooding. He was seeking €17,000 (£14,250) in compensation – money he said he would use to pay for a flood defence project to protect the city. However, the higher regional court in the ******* city of Hamm on Wednesday blocked the case from proceeding further and ruled out any appeals, putting an end to Mr Lliuya’s 10-year legal battle. RWE said it was not active in Peru and questioned why it was singled out. It also pointed to its plans to phase out its coal-fired power plants and become carbon neutral by 2040. In their ruling on Wednesday, judges deemed that the flood risk to the property of Mr Lliuya was not high enough for the case to proceed. However, in what climate change groups have hailed as a win, they did say that energy companies could be held responsible for the costs caused by their carbon emissions. While the sum demanded by Mr Lliuya was very low, the case has become a cause celebre for climate change activists, who hope that it will set a precedent for holding powerful firms to account. The 44-year-old mountain guide and farmer said he had brought the case because he had seen first-hand how rising temperatures were causing glaciers near Huaraz to melt. He said that as a result, Lake Palcacocha – which is located above the city – now has four times as much water than in 2003 and that residents like him were at risk of flooding, especially if blocks of ice were to break off from Palcacocha glacier and fall into the lake, causing it to overflow. He alleged that emissions caused by RWE were contributing to the increase in temperature in Peru’s mountain region and demanded that the ******* firm pay towards building a flood defence. Mr Lliuya also said that he chose the company because a 2013 database tracking historic emissions from major fossil fuel producers listed the ******* energy giant as one of the biggest polluters in Europe. Reuters Mr Lliuya says that as a mountain guide he has seen the effects of climate change at first hand Mr Lliuya’s original case was rejected by a lower court in Germany in 2015, with judges arguing that a single firm could not be held responsible for climate change. But in a surprise twist, Mr Lliuya in 2017 won his appeal with judges at the higher regional court, which accepted there was merit to his case and allowed it to proceed. His lawyers previously argued that RWE was responsible for 0.5% of global CO2 emissions and demanded that the energy firm pay damages amounting to a proportional share of the cost of building a $3.5m-flood defence for Huaraz. Reuters Mr Lliuya’s lawyer, Roda Verheyen, celebrated the court’s decision Germanwatch, an environmental NGO which backed Mr Lliuya’s case, celebrated the court’s ruling saying it had “made legal history”. “Although the court dismissed the specific claim – finding flood risk to Luciano Lliuya’s home was not sufficiently high – it confirmed for the first time that major emitters can be held liable under ******* civil law for risks resulting from climate change,” it said in a statement. The group said it was hopeful that the decision could positively influence similar cases in other countries. Verdict expected in trial of French paedophile surgeon who abused hundreds Verdict expected in trial of French paedophile surgeon who abused hundreds Reuters French ex-surgeon Joel Le Scouarnec has admitted to ********* abusing hundreds of patients A verdict is expected on Wendesday in the case of Joel Le Scouarnec, the former surgeon who has admitted to ********* abusing hundreds of patients, mostly under age, between 1989 and 2014. Le Scouarnec, 74, has been dubbed France’s most prolific paedophile. He is already in jail after being sentenced in December 2020 to 15 years for raping and ********* assaulting four children, including two of his nieces. Now, he faces an additional maximum sentence of 20 years. The former doctor has been on trial in Brittany since late February. During that time dozens of his victims have testified, telling the court how the abuse they sustained as children shaped their lives. In March, during a session held behind closed doors, Le Scouarnec admitted to ********* abusing all 299 victims, many while they were under anaesthesia or waking up after operations. He kept diaries in which he described the assaults in graphic detail, which allowed police to track down his victims – many of whom had no memory of the abuse they suffered while in Le Scouarnec’s care. The former surgeon admitted to the charges during a session held behind closed doors in March. “I can no longer look at myself the same way because I am a paedophile and a child *******,” Le Scouarnec said during his last statements to the court last week. “Many things have been said. I don’t necessarily remember everything now. It will no doubt come back to me when I’m in my cell, but what I’ve witnessed [in court] is the suffering for which I am responsible,” he said. A long banner representing the many victims of Le Scouarnec was unfurled near the courthouse on Wednesday He added he neither wanted or expected to be given any leniency. Earlier this month he also said he was “responsible” for the deaths of two victims whose relatives say died by suicide, following the trauma of being ********* assaulted by Le Scouarnec when they were children. The grandparents of one of them, Mathias Vinet, who died four years ago, told the BBC about the “descent into hell” experienced by his grandson when police revealed to him that his name appeared in one of the diaries. The trial has sparked fury that Le Scouarnec got away with the abuse for over fifteen years, and that he was allowed to continue to treat children despite a conviction in 2005 for downloading paedophile images. The Victims of Joel Le Scouarnec Collective group lamented that the trial had failed to capture the attention of politicians and society at large. “No lesson has been drawn from this, neither from the medical world nor from politicians,” the group said in a statement. Several victims held a protest in front of the courthouse ahead of the verdict being delivered on Wednesday afternoon. Catherine, the mother of a victim, said on the day of the verdict that it was the first time she had seen so many journalists covering the trial and added that she felt the victims had been forgotten. “It’s a pity but my hope is that now our message can be passed on. Not for the generation that has been hurt but for my grandchildren,” she said, adding that she hoped institutions would “react”. Le Scouarnec, who was present in court every day of the 14-week trial, repeatedly apologised for his “revolting” acts. “I never saw tears running down his cheeks,” said victim Manon Lemoine Many of his victims were left unimpressed with his demeanour. “His words are always the same, in the same tone, I don’t see any sincerity in them,” Louis-Marie, 35, told the BBC. “The only thing I hope is that he doesn’t do any more harm to society… that he stays locked up.” “I never saw tears running down his cheeks,” said another victim named Manon Lemoine. But Maxime Tessier, one of Le Scouarnec’s lawyers, said he believed his client had been sincere. “He was very moved during this trial… It was very important for him to confess as he did. It was a moment of truth and justice.” Mr Tessier also pointed the finger at the medical establishment, which civil parties have accused of not doing more to stop Le Scouarnec’s from practicing medicine even when rumours of his paedophilia were circulating widely. “No one acknowledged responsibility, whereas all the victims said it’s not only a man who did that – but also the system which let him do it,” he told the BBC. The National Order of Doctors (Cnom), which has also filed a lawsuit against Le Scouranec, said in March that it “expressed its deep regrets” as the former surgeon should have been “prevented from practicing”. “This situation has highlighted poor communication between the different entities of the Order of Doctors, and we deeply regret this,” they said in a statement. 18. Hello Neighbor 3 Playtest Is Live Now Hello Neighbor 3 Playtest Is Live Now TinyBuild is returning to the town of Raven Brooks with Hello Neighbor 3, and now players can too with an open playtest. The “cozy yet eerie” game tasks players with exploring–and eventually escaping–the now-half-abandoned town of Raven Brooks. The game’s second playable prototype was announced in a video by lead developer and franchise creator Nikita Kolesnikov, who also gives a general rundown on what players will be able to discover in the playtest. The newest version of Hello Neighbor 3 features an all-new map that’s “much closer to what it’s meant to be,” Kolesnikov. The player is tasked with exploring the houses that make up the town of Raven Brooks to find useful items, with the prototype’s ultimate goal being to escape before a storm hits the town. Some of the houses are occupied, however–and the occupants may be less than happy with the player’s intrusion. In Hello Neighbor 3’s “system-based world,” players can approach every situation in a different way, using stealth, agility, brute force, or even diplomacy. The game’s major selling point is that the town of Raven Brooks is a living, reactive sandbox–its inhabitants go about their lives if undisturbed, but can also react in new and different ways to player actions, opening up new pathways in the game. Players can request access to the new prototype’s playtest on Hello Neighbor 3’s Steam page. While the first Hello Neighbor game was reviewed poorly by critics on release, publisher TinyBuild has still managed to spin a whole franchise out of the game, including multiple spin-off games, books, and an animated show. The purchase, its first investment in bitcoin, was worth $512.6 million with bitcoin’s price of $108,837 Wednesday. The world’s largest cryptocurrency has been on a tear lately, hitting a record high near $112,000 last week, as easing trade tensions and the Moody’s downgrade of U.S. sovereign debt highlighted alternative stores of value like bitcoin. Shares of GameStop rose nearly 3% in premarket trading following the news. The meme stock is up about 12% this year. As of February 1, the company had amassed a $4.76 billion cash pile, according to its annual report released in April. CNBC first reported on GameStop’s intention to add cryptocurrencies on its balance sheet in February. The company confirmed its plan in late March, saying it has not set a ceiling on the amount of bitcoin it may purchase. GameStop is following in the footsteps of software company MicroStrategy, now known as Strategy, which bought billions of dollars worth of bitcoin in recent years to become the largest corporate holder of the flagship cryptocurrency. That decision prompted a rapid, albeit volatile, rise for Strategy’s stock. 22. Cumbria driver jailed after 10mph police pursuit Cumbria driver jailed after 10mph police pursuit Nathan Bevan BBC News, North East and Cumbria Police eventually used a stinger to stop Jack Lowrey during the 10mph pursuit A man who attempted to get away from police by driving at just 10mph has been handed an immediate 12 month prison sentence. Jack Lowrey was spotted driving erratically through parts of Cumbria on the evening of 11 January as if “under the influence of something”, Carlisle Crown Court heard. During a 16-minute “chase”, the 21-year-old drove slowly with his lights off before having his tyres punctured by a police stinger and being forced to stop against a wall. Lowrey, who had been given 16 months in February 2024 for threatening to kill someone while holding scissors to their throat, admitted dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking. Previously of Distington but currently of no fixed abode, he also admitted to failing to provide a specimen and having no insurance or licence. He will also be banned from driving for 36 months after his release and will have to take an extended test before getting behind the wheel again. Cumbria Constabulary Jack Lowrey was said to have been “heavily intoxicated” The incident began when Lowrey took a red Ford Focus courtesy vehicle without his family’s permission. He had initially attracted the attention of officers while sitting in the vehicle on Moorclose Road in Workington, before then heading south towards Whitehaven where the blue light pursuit began. Upon his arrest, he was taken to a police station where he refused to co-operate and shouted abuse. Lowrey’s barrister told the court how he had gone “out of control” and started to use alcohol to cope after his father was handed a lengthy jail term in 2023. Passing sentence, Judge Nicholas Barker said he had “little hesitation” in finding that Lowrey was “heavily intoxicated” during what “was a determined attempt, by you, to evade the police”. 23. 3 Reasons Wix Could Rally 50% Into the Summer 3 Reasons Wix Could Rally 50% Into the Summer Wix (NASDAQ:) started the week’s trading just over the $150 mark, though it has still been down 16% since its earnings report last Wednesday. The stock had been rallying into results but took a hit after missing on earnings, even as revenue came in above expectations. Guidance for the coming quarter was weaker than hoped, rattling investors and prompting a short-term sell-off. Still, there are compelling reasons to believe the pullback is already overdone. With a solid revenue beat, strong forward bookings, continued product innovation, and aggressive buyback activity, the tech giant looks well-positioned to bounce back into the summer months. 1. Analysts Are Holding Strong or Turning More Bullish Despite the earnings miss, a wave of analyst support should help to stabilize sentiment. Multiple teams, such as those at RBC Capital Markets and Cantor Fitzgerald, reiterated their Buy or Outperform ratings, and several refreshed price targets imply a major upside. JMP Securities was among the most bullish in its outlook, setting a target of $250, which implies an upside target of some 65% from current levels. Each firm acknowledged the softer Q2 guidance but focused on the long-term drivers instead. Morgan Stanley pointed to first-quarter revenue growth of 13%, which beat guidance by 60 basis points. They also highlighted momentum in the Partners segment, which grew 24% year over year, and the accelerating growth in Self Creators, now tracking near 7.5%. RBC noted that bookings and revenue came in modestly ahead of expectations, while full-year guidance on revenue, bookings, and free cash flow remains unchanged. That suggests the weak Q2 guidance is more about conservatism than deterioration. 2. The Pullback Has Created an Attractive Setup Sometimes, opportunity looks like a dip. With shares down 16% in just a few days, Wix now offers investors a chance to get in at a discount to recent highs, with some solid business momentum already in place. The company reiterated its full-year 2025 guidance, which calls for bookings growth between 11% and 13%, and CFO Lior Shemesh confirmed that top-of-funnel demand remains strong. Shemesh noted that first-quarter new user cohort bookings were 12% higher than the same ******* last year, attributing the acceleration to an increase in users and stronger product fundamentals. When companies are growing cohorts, beating on bookings, and still pulling back on price, it often sets the stage for sharp recoveries, particularly when technical support levels hold. 3. A ******* Buyback Signals Confidence Perhaps the strongest signal from management came not in the numbers but in what they plan to do with cash. Wix announced an expansion of its share buyback program, a move that typically indicates one thing: management believes the stock is undervalued. Buybacks are not undertaken lightly. They are a direct reflection of how confident executives are in their outlook. With macro uncertainty lingering, Wix’s decision to increase capital returns to shareholders speaks volumes about where they think the business is headed. Bank of America’s Michael McGovern referenced this when he refreshed his Buy rating on Wix with a $230 price target. He noted the company beat expectations in the first quarter, driven by higher-margin bookings. While second-quarter guidance came in slightly soft due to uncertainty among small and medium-sized businesses, McGovern added that the macro softness was largely expected. Why Wix Still Has Room to Run Despite the earnings wobble, Wix is still executing at a high level. Revenue is growing, bookings are accelerating, and user engagement is improving. Analysts remain supportive, price targets are stacked well above current levels, and management is putting real capital behind its belief in the company’s future. With summer seasonality approaching and investor appetite returning for high-quality tech names, the recent pullback could represent a rare opportunity. If guidance stabilizes and macro pressures ease, Wix may well be on the path to reclaiming its previous highs and potentially reaching the $230 to $250 range being targeted by the analysts. Popyrin breaks new ground with Roland Garros win Popyrin breaks new ground with Roland Garros win Alexei Popyrin has broken more fresh ground in his soaring career, brightening up a gloomy day in Paris by reaching the third round of the French Open for the first time. But while the 25th seed was battling his way past Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, 7-5 6-3 6-4 on a drizzle-splattered outside court, Ajla Tomljanovic’s big date under the roof of Court Phillippe Chatrier turned into a bit of a damp squib as she succumbed 6-3 6-3 to 2024 finalist Jasmine Paolini. The two matches ended within 30 seconds of each other on Wednesday with Popyrin’s delight at overcoming a potentially tricky hurdle in stark contrast to Tomljanovic’s frustration at not being able to offer more of a threat to the No.4 seed amid a second-set fightback.
