  1. Atomfall Release Date—Platforms, Editions, and Price Atomfall Release Date—Platforms, Editions, and Price Atomfall is an alternate history England ravaged by nuclear devastation, and its fascinating premise and debut could explode 2025 into life. Rebellion’s Atomfall release is all about disaster, but the game’s quality looks anything but. Early 2025 belongs to Rebellion in some respects. The company knocked it out of the park with Sniper Elite Resistance and is looking to do the same with Atomfall. The RPG hits harder for me as an English-born writer, but I’m constantly curious what the country could look like if it’s turned upside down by nuclear fallout—with Fallout being a familiar word here. Atomfall looks to be a scrappy survival game, and one we have details on: Its release date, where you can buy it, and how much cash you need to part with to play it. Atomfall Release Date What a world. Credit to Rebellion Atomfall has a concrete release date of March 27, but you can play as early as March 24 if you secure either the Deluxe or Quarantine Edition to get 3 days of Early Access. We finally get to go fission in March, and unless things change, Atomfall marks the second major Rebellion release before April. Atomfall was announced in 2024 and seems to have undergone a successful development *******. We’ll update you if a delay is announced for Atomfall’s release. Atomfall Platforms There is last-gen and current-gen love for Atomfall as it’s getting a PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC release. It’s always better to see a release get a multi-platform launch across different generations. More platforms means more players, and more players means more chance of success. There’s no Nintendo Switch port, meaning Switch fans miss out on another third-party release. But as I keep saying, if you’ve read my other release date guides, don’t rule out a future launch if Atomfall does well and the Switch 2 proves as powerful as it’s been revealed. Atomfall Editions & Price Atomfall Standard Edition is $59.99 or $54.99, the Deluxe Edition is $79.99 or £74.99, and the Quarantine Edition is slightly pricier still at $89.99 or £79.99. You can see every edition and price below for a quick table to refer to. Atomfall Edition Price Standard Edition $59.99 or $54.99 Deluxe Edition $79.99 or £74.99 Quarantine Edition $89.99 or £79.99 The resemblance to Fallout aside, what is getting you most excited about Atomfall? Could this be a new franchise for Rebellion to support alongside the beloved Sniper Elite IP? Check out our first-hand preview of Atomfall where we got to experience the shooter for ourselves. 2. Maths and English requirement dropped for adult apprentices Maths and English requirement dropped for adult apprentices Vanessa Clarke Education correspondent Getty Images Businesses employing adult apprentices will now have the power to decide whether a Maths and English qualification should be part of the prescribed course, following a rule change by the government. The Department for Education (DfE) says this could mean 10,000 more apprentices are able to complete courses every year. More than 90,000 people over the age of 19 began apprenticeships between August and October 2024. However, more than 45% of apprentices drop out of schemes without completing the course, according to the most recent DfE figures. The government hopes that relaxing the rules for apprentices over the age of 19 will ensure more students are both applying for, and completing, apprenticeships in sectors where there continues to be high demand, such as healthcare, social care and construction. Apprentices aged 16-18 will still have to complete an English and Maths functional skills qualification – equivalent to a GCSE – as a course requirement. Gabby Reid, 21, recently completed an apprenticeship working as a coach for England Boxing, and is now pursuing a business and administration apprenticeship for the Coach Core Foundation. Ms Reid admits she “scraped” a pass in her GCSE Maths during the pandemic, when exams were teacher-assessed. In her current role, she supports new apprentices, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds; she believes Maths and English qualifications should be optional. “That could be the one thing that is putting them off applying for, or completing, the course – even if they love coaching. “It shouldn’t be a necessity.” Coach Core Foundation Apprentice Gabby Reid believes Maths and English qualifications should be optional Mariah Sutton, 27, completed her business and administration apprenticeship at the Heart of Worcestershire College, and is now doing a second apprenticeship in human resources at Polaris, a children’s services provider. Maths was always a “massive struggle” for Ms Sutton. After taking extra night classes, buying lots of books, and with the help of tutors, she was “over the moon” when she passed her functional skills level 2 in Maths. But she says the pressure of knowing she had to complete a Maths qualification took some of the enjoyment out of the rest of her apprenticeship. “It was always at the back of my mind, and I think it restricted my full potential.” Heart of Worcestershire College Apprentice Mariah Sutton struggled with areas such as graphs and median numbers while studying Maths “If you are learning a construction skill, of course you need to be able to measure, you need to understand ratios – but perhaps you are best off learning those as part of your on-the-job training, rather than having to do a separate English and Maths qualification,” Skills Minister Jacqui Smith told Radio 4’s Today programme. “[The need for a qualification] sometimes puts people off going into apprenticeships in the first place, and quite often means people can’t finish those apprenticeships,” she added. The government has also confirmed plans to reduce the minimum duration of an apprenticeship, from 12 months to eight months, from August 2025. The move has been welcomed by many businesses, who say the changes will help employers to fill skills gaps more swiftly. “Shorter apprenticeships will allow more people to move quickly, with the right skills, into key roles in shortage sectors like renewable energy and the health service – filling crucial skills gaps,” explained David Hughes, Association of Colleges chief executive. Significant barrier Failing to secure a qualification in Maths or English is one of the key reasons apprentices do not complete courses. But EDSK, an education think tank, previously found a majority of those who dropped out of apprenticeships also cited “poor quality” schemes, highlighting a lack of training and bad management. Other bodies would like to see the government go further. David Smith, chief executive of Lifetime, England’s largest apprenticeship provider, welcomed the rule change, saying it would help address a significant barrier for many apprentices, particularly those who are considered most disadvantaged. But Mr Smith said he was “disappointed” the change was not extended to apprentices aged 16-18. The Learning and Work Institute, however, believe it is a mistake to reduce the minimum length of an apprenticeship, and criticised the government decision to remove any requirement for those over 19 to obtain qualifications in English and Maths. “England is already an outlier compared to other countries, with shorter apprenticeships and far less general education like English and Maths. “Lowering standards in this way will increase this disparity,” said chief executive Stephen Evans. 3. One FromSoft Game Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Team “Really wanted to create” Got Stalled For 10 Years Due To Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro One FromSoft Game Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Team “Really wanted to create” Got Stalled For 10 Years Due To Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro You are possibly going to relate a lot to this one if you just so happen to be the middle child in your family. Remember Elden Ring’s creators, FromSoft? The studio known for creating extremely punishing games that bait the player into breaking their controllers? They have another franchise that is so different that many refuse to believe it comes from the same production house called Armored Core. Armored Core is one of the overlooked franchises by the studio | FromSoft This unique IP is essentially a long-running series of mecha-based action games developed by the studio. It would surprise many to know that before the studio became synonymous with the Souls genre, it was this series that helped push it off the ground. Unfortunately, even after that, its latest installment had to wait for 10 long years for its last release. Armored Core 6: Rubicons of Fires and its Development Struggles Armored Core 6 came out after 10 long years | FromSoft The release of ******’s Souls back in 2009 kicked off a Souls genre campaign nobody could have seen coming at the time. The studio then quickly got to work on developing the Dark Souls Trilogy, soon followed by Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the studio’s latest Souls adventure, Elden Ring. However, what got ignored in all of this is the franchise that started it all, Armored Core. The latest Armored Core 6 title is essentially what revived the franchise in 2023 after 10 long years of waiting. Explaining why it took so long, Yasunori Ogura, the game’s producer, revealed the following via PlayStation Blog. As for the process leading up to the development of this title, our company’s president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, myself, the director, Yamamura, and many other members of the development team all really wanted to create a new Armored Core game. – Meanwhile, because we had several projects underway at the same time, we had to allocate internal resources for the development of other titles. Which in turn resulted in a long ten-year wait for this game. Ogura disclosed how having multiple projects at the same time caused the unbelievably long wait for the much-anticipated release of Armored Core 6. Fortunately, something good came out of this too; that is how the fights in the game have ultimately become more immersive and better thanks to the team’s experience with all the Souls games. Why Armored Core is historic for FromSoft The Armored Core franchise remains significant to the studio’s portfolio | FromSoft If you love fast-paced mecha action, Armored Core is a franchise that you cannot miss out on. Not only is the latest Armored Core 6 the best entry point for newcomers, but older installments of the series are also worth visiting once again if you happen to be a fan. For those who do not know, Armored Core was also the first franchise the now-renowned director Hidetaka Miyazaki worked on. The Armored Core: Nexus title released during the PS2 era was a significant title for FromSoft, as it marked the debut of a director who would go on to change the course of the gaming industry. With the studio back on the experimenting track with the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign, many now wonder if we might get to see another Armored Core title soon enough in the coming years, bearing in mind that Miyazaki wants to personally overlook its development. 6. Trump pardons former Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich Trump pardons former Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich President Donald Trump has signed an executive order pardoning Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor who was sentenced to 14 years in prison before Trump commuted his sentence in 2020. “It’s my honor to do it,” Trump said during remarks from the Oval Office on Monday. “He was set up.” Trump called the Democratic former governor a “very fine person” and said he didn’t know him other than that he was on his TV show, “Celebrity Apprentice.” When asked if Trump would consider Blagojevich as ambassador to Serbia, Trump said “no, but I would,” adding that “if he got a pardon, he’s cleaner than anybody in the room.” “Let me tell you — from the bottom of my heart — how deep my appreciation and gratitude is for President Trump,” Blagojevich said in a press conference Monday evening reacting to the news. PHOTO: Former Illinois governor and convicted felon Rod Blagojevich speaks to the press outside of the Dirksen Federal Courthouse on Aug. 2, 2021 in Chicago. (Scott Olson/Getty Images, FILE) The past few months, Blagojevich has been active on X, expressing his support for the president and reposting content from Trump’s inner circle, including Elon Musk and Kash Patel, Trump’s choice to be director of the FBI. “Trump freed me & Obama sold me out so I’m biased, but I believe Trump has done more as President in his whirlwind first 8 days than Obama did in his entire 8 years. What do you think?” Balgojevich wrote on X last month. Blagojevich, a Democrat and self-proclaimed “Trump-o-crat,” responded to former President Joe Biden’s preemptive pardons in January, telling Piers Morgan Uncensored that he believed such actions were the “wrong things to do.” “I mean, President Biden weaponized the justice department against Donald Trump. So he just assumed that Trump’s going to do the same thing to his people that he did to Trump and to Trump’s people,” he said, adding that “there’s no evidence that President Trump is going to do anything.” MORE: Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich released after Trump commutes his sentence On his first day back in office, Trump announced sweeping pardons and commutations for nearly all of the rioters charged with the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol. “I pardon people that were assaulted themselves. They were assaulted by our government,” Trump said on Sunday in regards to his Jan. 6 pardons. In 2011, Blagojevich was convicted on 17 counts of corruption, including an attempt to sell the U.S. Senate seat that former President Barack Obama vacated after being elected to the White House in 2008. During his first term, Trump called Blagojevich’s 14-year sentence a “tremendously powerful, ridiculous” sentence, though he had also expressed that he did not know Blagojevich well. (Evan Vucci/AP) The former governor was expected to be released in 2024, factoring in two years of credit for good behavior. He began serving time in 2012, and Trump commuted his sentence in 2020. Upon release, Blagojevich expressed his “profound and everlasting gratitude for President Trump,” calling this an “act of kindness” that represented the “beginning of the process to actually turn an injustice into a justice.” MORE: Blagojevich thanks Trump for his ‘kindness’ in commuting prison sentence “He didn’t have to do this, he’s a Republican president, I was a Democratic governor,” Blagojevich also said at the time. 7. Kickstarter is rolling out new tools for backers, including a way to split pledges into four payments Kickstarter is rolling out new tools for backers, including a way to split pledges into four payments Kickstarter just unveiled a bunch of new tools for backers and creators. The most notable of the bunch is called Pledge Over Time and, well, it’s exactly what it sounds like. The tool allows backers to split a pledge into four payments that get pulled from a bank account every two weeks. It’s sort of like Affirm or Klarna. This feature should also help creators, as it’ll entice more backers to buy into a campaign. It’s available right now, but only to select campaigns. Pledge Over Time is coming to everyone “by spring.” This follows a related tool that was released last year that allows folks to back projects after a campaign has ended. Kickstarter The platform is also in the process of refining search and discovery to help backers find stuff that interests them. Kickstarter promises that new search filters and sorting options are coming to web and mobile this spring. The mobile app is also getting an update “by the end of 2025” that lets backers view all of their funded, live and unsuccessful projects in one place. Kickstarter There are some changes coming down the pike to make backers feel more secure when pledging. If a project faces “significant fulfillment failures” it’ll get slapped with a notice on the main page. Backers of these projects will also get a notification that outlines the issues and actions that Kickstarter has taken. Project pages will also soon include more details about a creator’s overall track record. Indiegogo already does something similar via its Trust-Proven badge. For creators, the fundraising platform is introducing add-ons. These are perks that can be added to a campaign after being successfully funded. It gives backers more opportunities to spend money and get cool stuff in return. Shipping management is also being streamlined, as is the tax collection system. 8. How Uniqlo has grown in the U.S. How Uniqlo has grown in the U.S. Uniqlo is catching on in the U.S. — and it may have more room to grow. With a market capitalization of roughly $100 billion, Uniqlo’s Japanese parent company Fast Retailing is one of the largest retailers in the world behind Zara’s owner, Spanish company Inditex. Uniqlo has been able to grow thanks to what experts say is a minimal, functional design at an affordable price point for many consumers. “They have a nice twist of fashionability which makes them unique and interesting. They’re also very good value for money,” says GlobalData Retail managing director Neil Saunders. “The clothes are generally good quality, they last a long time and the price points are very reasonable, and all of those things really resonate with the American consumer.” However, the Japanese retailer faces challenges as it tries to reach 200 stores in the U.S. by 2027, up from 69 locations now. The space is competitive as more apparel retailers from around the world gain a foothold in the U.S. The company also has room to grow its e-commerce operations, where Uniqlo lags many of its rivals. “A lot of other brands have taken on the digital journeys, and it’s not something that Uniqlo had done from from a very early stage, because they have been centered around the physical bricks and mortar stores. So they also need to make sure they always stay into the digital space,” says McKinsey senior advisor Martin Roll. Watch the video above to learn more about why Uniqlo is expanding in North America and what exactly sets the brand apart from peers in the saturated retail industry. 9. Succession Complete Series Blu-Ray Box Set Drops To Best Price Yet Succession Complete Series Blu-Ray Box Set Drops To Best Price Yet Succession: The Complete Series on Blu-ray is discounted to only $65 (was $95) at Amazon. This is the lowest price yet for Succession: The Complete Series, which released on Blu-ray last August. The hit HBO show ended its run in 2023 with a pile of Emmy awards, high ratings, and universal acclaim. It’s one of the best HBO shows in recent memory. If you’re interested in starting a rewatch, the Blu-ray box set lets you avoid paying monthly for Max. Succession: The Complete Series originally released on DVD in 2023, just a few months after Season 4’s finale aired. It took nearly a full year for Warner Bros. to release the Blu-ray box set. The DVD collection is available for $45, but the $65 Blu-ray version offers substantially better picture quality, especially on modern TVs. $65 (was $95) Succession is the story of Logan Roy, head of one of the world’s largest media conglomerates, who just announced his imminent retirement. Now his kids, and more than a few others, have to spend four seasons jockeying for position in hopes of becoming the new boss while also earning a little bit of love from daddy. If you can’t get enough of Succession, you could read the entire series (and more) by picking up the scripts in paperback format. All four seasons are available for $20 or less at Amazon. These are weighty books, with each of the first three seasons clocking in at 700-plus pages. Season 4’s script is a tad shorter at 656 pages. Succession featured some of the best writing on TV during its run, and what’s cool about these books is that you’ll come across dialogue and scenes that were cut from the show. 10. Trump halts prosecution of firms accused of bribery abroad Trump halts prosecution of firms accused of bribery abroad US President Donald Trump has halted the enforcement of an anti-corruption law that allows the prosecution of Americans accused of bribing foreign officials. The law has been in place for around 50 years and prohibits US firms from trying to to retain or win new business with other countries by bribing government figures. “It’s going to mean a lot more business for America,” Trump said when signing the executive order on Monday. A White House statement said “over-expansive” and “unpredictable” enforcement of the law risked the “economic advancement of the US”. Trump has previously spoken of striking down the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), having called it a “horrible law” and said “the world is laughing at us” for enforcing it. He has also directed US justice authorities to review current and past actions related to the law and to find new guidelines for the FCPA’s enforcement. The anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International said Trump’s order “diminishes – and could pave the way for completely eliminating – the crown jewel in the US’s fight against global corruption”. But the president said in a statement that enforcing the law would only bar “routine business practices in other nations” and that enforcement action takes resources away from “preserving American freedoms”. The White House said: “US companies are harmed by FCPA over-enforcement because they are prohibited from engaging in practices common among international competitors, creating an uneven playing field.” It said Trump wanted to eliminate “excessive barriers to American commerce abroad”. Previous cases in which the law has been invoked have involved Goldman Sachs, mining giant Glencore. In 2020, Goldman Sachs agreed to pay nearly $3bn (£2.3bn) to end a probe of its role in the 1MDB corruption scandal. The bank’s Malaysian subsidiary admitted in a US court that it had paid more than $1bn in bribes to win work raising money for the Malaysian state-owned wealth fund. In 2022, the Swiss-based mining company Glencore said it would pay $180m to the Democratic Republic of Congo to settle corruption claims. It came after a series of corruption cases led by countries including the US. In 2024, the US’s justice department and the financial watchdog the Securities Exchange Commission filed 26 enforcement actions under the anti-corruption law, with at least 31 companies under investigation by the end of year. On the same day Trump signed the order, the justice department told federal prosecutors to drop their corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who has pleaded not guilty of accepting ******** campaign funds and gifts in exchange for his influence as mayor. The White House said the indictment had “restricted” the mayor’s ability to address “******** immigration and violent crime”. Trump also pardoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat who served eight years in prison over corruption charges before his term was cut short by Trump during his first term. 11. Helldivers 2 Players Are Using Rookies As Kamikaze Bombers In the Name of Democracy Helldivers 2 Players Are Using Rookies As Kamikaze Bombers In the Name of Democracy The Second Galactic War in Helldivers 2 is getting intense and it seems like Super Earth’s brave soldiers are even using some unethical, non-democratic ways to defeat the enemies. A brand new backpack Stratagem was introduced in the newly added Servants of Freedom Premium Warbond, and veterans might be using newbies as bait. The new Portable Hellbomb Stratagem can be activated anywhere at any time (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) Apart from a new Stratagem, two new weapons were also added as a part of the Servants of Freedom Warbond. These new weapons have initiated a lot of debate among the community as one of them dishes out damage of 4,500 in a single shot, convincing many that it has made the game too easy. Helldivers 2 rookies are getting used as Kamikazes Arrowhead Game Studios recently added the Servants of Freedom Premium Warbond to Helldivers 2, giving players a Stratagem that is capable of mass destruction: Portable Hellbomb. A viral joke on the r/helldivers2 subreddit has pointed out that rookies are getting strapped with this new Stratagem to be used as Kamikazes on the battlefield. The newly added B-100 Portable Hellbomb is a mini NUX-223 Hellbomb in a backpack form and just like the actual Stratagem, this also needs some time to get activated. It has a 10-second timer once it gets activated, so players must quickly drop it and get away from it in order to avoid getting annihilated by it. It can be unlocked on the third page of the Warbond for 110 medals, but this is not the only investment that would boost your performance on the battlefield as the Warbond also contains a new weapon that currently has no match. Some Helldivers 2 players think that the GP-31 Ultimatum has made the game too easy The GP-31 Ultimatum is probably the most powerful secondary weapon in the game right now (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) On the second page of Servants of Freedom Premium Warbond, players can find a new secondary weapon called GP-31 Ultimatum. At first glance, it may seem like a regular pistol, however, it is loaded with a single explosive round that can inflict damage of 4,500 in a single shot. Some players are having a blast using the weapon on the battlefield, however, players on higher difficulty levels have complained that it has made the game too easy. The weapon is capable of taking out structures like Detector Towers, Jammers, Science Labs, and Fabricators in a single shot, making it better than some Stratagems. The community is currently debating if Arrowhead should nerf this weapon. The Warbond features another weapon called the LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle on the first page. This is a variation of the LAS-16 Sickle, however, this doesn’t have any overheating protections, so players can get more out of this weapon as compared to the regular Sickle, however, the heat from the weapon can damage the players. The community has discovered that using Fire-Resistant armor makes things a lot easier as it resists most of the damage from the weapon. 14. Safer Internet Day: how to avoid online scams and stay safe online Safer Internet Day: how to avoid online scams and stay safe online Since it was instated back in 2004, Safer Internet Day arrives annually as a way to share tips on how to protect yourself and your loved ones when browsing the web. With online scam incidents on the rise worldwide, it’s hardly surprising the 2025 edition of Safer Internet Day seeks to equip internet users with tips on how to avoid falling victim to scams. For the purpose of this article, I’ll focus on probably the most common of all – shopping scams. Let’s dig into the main red flags to be wary of and how the best VPN apps and other security software can help you minimize the risk. Online scams red flags 1. Too good to be true? As the premise for the 2025 Safer Internet Day’s theme suggests, the first thing you need to ask yourself when you come across a wonderful offer online is: does it sound too good to be true? If your answer is yes, you are likely dealing with an online scam. Bear in mind that malicious actors are used to advertise incredible (but fake) offers on different platforms, from social media to unsolicited emails and DMs. The image below is an example of how scammers may trick people into clicking on a dangerous link… (Image credit: Future) 2. Dodgy messages While there are many ways scammers can grab your attention, email and SMS remain the most popular tactics to spread phishing attacks. Malicious messages include fake account verification, order confirmation, delivery notifications, and more. As a rule of thumb, you should be extra careful when you cannot recognize the sender. If you aren’t sure, I suggest directly double-checking with the company you have placed your order with. 3. Fake shops and malicious sites While ChatGPT-like tools have been helping cybercriminals craft ever-convincing fake shops or phishing emails, there are still some ways to recognize malicious websites. Always check if the domain name of the store is legitimate. Dodgy websites are also generally characterized by an amateurish design, grammar mistakes, and poor spelling. Before clicking the “buy now” button, I’d recommend checking the reviews and contact sections to see if they look like the real deal. (Image credit: Shutterstock / EugeneEdge) Tools to protect yourself from online scams While your own judgment is the main weapon you have for not falling victim to online scams – whether that’s a phishing email or fake shop – there’s also a bunch of security software that can help you minimize the risk within just a few clicks. Virtual private network (VPN) services are one such tool that helps to boost your privacy online. Less people know, however, that some of them can also help defend against phishing and malware. NordVPN Threat Protection Pro, for example, came out as the best in blocking malware and phishing during our last round of testing. Another simple way to avoid clicking on dodgy links is by using a link checker tool. Simply copy and paste the link you aren’t sure of and discover whether it’s safe before it’s too late. These services are often free to use, including the one developed by NordVPN and IPVanish. You may have looked out for all the red flags, avoided dodgy links, and even use a malware and ad-blocker tool. Yet, you could still fall victim to a scam. Unfortunately, no matter how careful you are, there’s always going to be a certain level of risk of falling for a scam when you’re online. It’s vital, then, to be prepared for this to happen. The best way to mitigate the damage is to protect your online accounts so that, even when your login details are compromised, scammers won’t be able to access all your sensitive information. My final tip would be to enable two-factor authentication whenever possible. A reliable password manager tool can also help you to stay on top of all your login details within a couple of clicks. 15. 3 Stocks to Gain From the Rising Demand in Offshore Drilling 3 Stocks to Gain From the Rising Demand in Offshore Drilling President Trump’s “Drill, baby, drill” initiatives may cause a demand spike for offshore drillers. Trump signed an executive order attempting to remove former President Biden’s permanent offshore drilling ban over 625 million acres of federal waters. This includes the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific coasts of Oregon, California, Washington, the Atlantic Coast, and Alaska’s Bering Sea. Trump plans to expedite the approval of permits to drill on federal lands in an effort to increase domestic production and bring energy prices down. Here are three drillers in the oils/energy sector that could benefit from the rising demand for offshore drilling. Transocean: Leading Offshore Drilling Contractor Fleet Utilization Nearly Full (NYSE:) provides offshore contract drilling services for the oil and industry. They have a fleet of 34 mobile offshore drilling units, which consist of 26 ultra-deepwater floaters and eight harsh environment floaters. Over 80% of Transocean’s rigs are less than 10 years old, with 10 delivered within the last five years. Max water depth ranges from 7,500 to 12,000 feet, and max drilling depth ranges from 30,000 to 40,000 feet. Demand Drives Up Day Rates The company charges day rates for their drilling rigs. More demand equates to higher day rates. For example, BP (NYSE:) secured a 365-day contract for the Deepwater Atlas (NYSE:) drillship set to start in Q2 2028 at a day rate of $635,000 or $232 million per year. This comes after an earlier contract for the Atlas for a four-well contract at $505,000 a day and a two-well contract for $580,000 a day. Rising Day Rates and Utilization Results in a 33% YoY Revenue Bump Transocean reported Q3 2024 EPS of 7 cents, beating consensus estimates by 11 cents. Revenues rose nearly 33% YoY to $948 million, matching consensus estimates. Contract drilling revenues rose sequentially by 87 million due to increased rig utilization, higher day rates for two rigs, higher reimbursement revenues, and a full quarter of revenues from the newbuild ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Aquila, which was partially offset by lower revenue efficiency across its fleet. Over 97% of Transocean’s Rigs Are Booked for 2025 Transocean’s backlog booked an additional $1.3 billion in Q3, including the Deepwater Conqueror, bringing the total backlog to $9.3 billion with clear visibility of future demand. The demand for ultra-deepwater and harsh environment rigs remains strong. CEO Jeremy Thigpen stated, “With these most recent awards, more than 97% of Transocean’s active fleet is contracted in 2025, once again demonstrating that our customers clearly recognize Transocean’s unique capabilities – our rigs, crews, and superior operational performance –add value to their programs.” Valaris: Operating the World’s Largest Fleet of Oil Rigs Valaris Ltd (NYSE:) provides contract offshore drilling services just like Transocean. The difference is that Valaris operates a larger fleet of 53 rigs, which include drillships, jack-up rigs, and semi-submersible platform drilling rigs. Jack-up rigs, also known as mobile offshore drilling units (MODU), are giant rigs with legs and a large mobile platform that looks like a city on the sea. Workers will often sleep there for two to three weeks at a time in the living quarters that are usually outfitted with a gym, cafeteria, sauna, TV, and computer rooms. Upbeat About the Upcycle Runway Through 2026 Valaris reported Q3 2024 EPS of 8 cents, missing analyst estimates by 19 cents. Revenues rose 41% YoY to $643 million, beating consensus estimates by nearly $23 million. Fleetwide revenue efficiency was 98%, which included a full quarter of operations for its VALARIS DS-7, which started its contract in Q2. Valaris Leadership Remains Confident in Industry Upswing Management remains very confident in the upswing. CEO Officer Anton Dibowitz stated, “We maintain our conviction in the strength and duration of this upcycle and believe Valaris is well positioned to drive long-term value creation. While we have seen some customer demand deferred, the outlook for 2026 and beyond remains robust. We continue to focus on securing attractive, long-term work for our available rig fleet to support our earnings and cash flow growth.” Seadrill: A Smaller Fleet Trying to Right the Ship Seadrill (OL:) Ltd. NYSE: SDRL also provides contract offshore drilling services to the oil and gas industry. Seadrill claims to have the most modern fleet of all the major offshore drillers, from drillships, jack-ups, and semi-submersibles for benign and harsh environments. They have a fleet of 13 ultra-deepwater drillships, four submersibles, and five shallow-water jack-ups. In October 2024, Bloomberg reported that Transocean and Seadrill were in ongoing merger discussions, but the rumor fizzled out. Seadrill Delivers Surprise EPS Beat Despite Revenue Decline Seadrill reported Q3 2024 EPS of 49 cents, beating consensus estimates by 47 cents. Revenues fell 14.5% YoY to $354 million but still beat consensus estimates by $32 million. Its Q3 performance was better than it expected internally, which led it to raise its forward guidance for the full year 2024 revenues of $1.39 to $1.41 billion versus $1.36 billion consensus analyst estimates. Seadrill’s Optimistic Long-Term View Supports Investor Confidence Seadrill CEO Simon Johnson commented, “Seadrill’s third-quarter results exceeded expectations, leading us to raise our full-year guidance. We secured additional drilling work for the Sevan Louisiana and mobilized the West Auriga and West Polaris (NYSE:) to Brazil, where they are undergoing customer and regulatory acceptance.” However, Johnson also pointed out, “In the absence of an immediate market opportunity for the West Phoenix, we stacked the rig and released the crews, refusing to contribute to our own white space, waiting on the market to change.” He concluded, “Despite the near-term imbalance between available rigs and opportunities, we remain resolute in our belief in the strength and durability of the offshore drilling industry and Seadrill’s position within it.” Original Post Source link #Stocks #Gain #Rising #Demand #Offshore #Drilling Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  16. Trump meets with Jordan’s King Abdullah II as he pushes Gaza resettlement plan Trump meets with Jordan’s King Abdullah II as he pushes Gaza resettlement plan Washington — President Trump is hosting Jordan’s King Abdullah II at the White House on Tuesday as he escalates pressure on the Arab nation to take in refugees from Gaza — perhaps permanently — as part of his audacious plan to remake the Middle East. The visit is happening at a perilous moment for the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza as ******, accusing Israel of violating the truce, has said it is pausing future releases of hostages. Mr. Trump has called for Israel to resume fighting if all those remaining in captivity are not freed by this weekend. Mr. Trump has proposed the U.S. take control of Gaza and turn it into “the Riviera of the Middle East,” with Palestinians in the war-torn territory pushed into neighboring nations with no right of return. He suggested on Monday that, if necessary, he would withhold U.S. funding from Jordan and Egypt, longtime U.S. allies and among the top recipients of its foreign aid, as a means of persuading them to accept additional Palestinians from Gaza. “Yeah, maybe. Sure, why not?” Mr. Trump told reporters. “If they don’t, I would conceivably withhold aid, yes.” President Trump speaks during an executive order signing in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, D.C., on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025. Al Drago/Bloomberg via Getty Images Jordan is home to more than 2 million Palestinians and, along with other Arab states, has flatly rejected Mr. Trump’s plan to relocate civilians from Gaza. Jordan’s foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, said last week that his country’s opposition to Mr. Trump’s idea was “firm and unwavering.” In addition to concerns about jeopardizing the long-held goals of a two-state solution to the Israeli-************ conflict, Egypt and Jordan have privately raised security concerns about welcoming large numbers of additional refugees into their countries even temporarily. When asked how he’d persuade Abdullah to take in Palestinians, Mr. Trump told reporters, “I do think he’ll take, and I think other countries will take also. They have good hearts.” The king is also meeting with top Trump administration officials during his visit, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, national security adviser Mike Waltz, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, as well as a bipartisan group of lawmakers on Capitol Hill. He is the third foreign leader to hold an in-person meeting with Mr. Trump since his Jan. 20 inauguration. Mr. Trump announced his ideas for resettling Palestinians from Gaza and taking ownership of the territory for the U.S. during a press conference last week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He initially didn’t rule out deploying U.S. troops to help secure Gaza but at the same time insisted no U.S. funds would go to pay for the reconstruction of the territory, raising fundamental questions about the nature of his plan. After Mr. Trump’s initial comments, Rubio and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted that the president only wanted Palestinians relocated from Gaza “temporarily” and sought an “interim” ******* to allow for debris removal, the disposal of unexploded ordnance and reconstruction. But asked in an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier that aired Monday if Palestinians in Gaza would have a right to return to the territory under his plan, he replied, “No, they wouldn’t.” Source link #Trump #meets #Jordans #King #Abdullah #pushes #Gaza #resettlement #plan Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

This Chicken Got Hands, and he really, really does… out now on iOS and Android This Chicken Got Hands, and he really, really does… out now on iOS and Android This Chicken Got Hands is exactly what it says on the tin Play a chicken driven to destruction by the theft of its eggs ******, bash and smash your farmer’s property to pieces It seems that it’s now in vogue to cast the player in the role of various seemingly innocuous animals driven to violence. Whether that’s Squirrel With a Gun, Goose Game or Goat Simulator, it seems that some believe all farm animals are one bad day away from snapping. And in the case of This Chicken Got Hands that’s very much the case! Now, I’m not about to pretend that the thing which caught our attention about This Chicken Got Hands wasn’t the title. Because in itself it’s not exactly all that exceptional. Put simply you race around a 3D-rendered farm (which does look fairly nice) taking out a variety of targets to annoy and inconvenience the farmer who’s stolen your eggs. You’ll race against the clock, and upgrade your stats and abilities while using a variety of moves in fast and frenetic chicken-based action. And while the graphics can seem a bit over the top (depth of field anyone?) it does look to be quite fun. How much?! However, I think the only thing that stood out to me was the fact that, when reading through the store listing, there was some information on in-app purchases that shocked me. Usually, we don’t discuss those of course, but when it lists the range of them going from £0.99 in our local price to a whopping £38.99, it certainly warrants mentioning! Exactly what that’s for is anyone’s guess, but it does make me wonder what this frenetic flight of a feathered fiend for freedom is hiding. Still, in the meantime if you want to find some other top releases why not check out some of our reviews? Catherine Dellosa recently dug into the card-shop simulator Kardboard Kings and found it both fun, and a bit wanting in certain areas. 19. Boeing says it delivered 45 aircraft in busiest January since 2023 Boeing says it delivered 45 aircraft in busiest January since 2023 By Dan Catchpole Boeing said on Tuesday that it had delivered 45 airplanes in January, up from 30 deliveries the previous month and the most deliveries in a month for the U.S. planemaker since 2023. The deliveries included 40 737 MAX aircraft, up from 25 delivered in the same month a year ago, when a mid-air blowout on a nearly new Alaska Air 737 MAX 9 grounded the model and brought Boeing under scrutiny from federal regulators. It was Boeing’s busiest January for deliveries since 2019. It was also the company’s first full month of production since a seven-week strike last fall halted most of its commercial airplane production. Aircraft deliveries are closely watched by Wall Street because planemakers collect the majority of their payment when they hand over jets to customers. It delivered seven 737 MAX jets to United Airlines, five to Southwest Airlines and seven to unidentified ******** airlines, according to the company. According to Cirium Fleet Analyzer and flight records on FlightRadar24, Boeing delivered 737 MAX aircraft to Shenzhen Airlines, 9 Air, Shandong Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, and two to Air China. Boeing also delivered four 787s, including the first 787 to TAAG Angola, and one 777 freighter to Ethiopian Airlines. Boeing booked 34 orders for 737 MAX to unidentified customers and two 777 freighter orders, also to unidentified customers, for a total of 36 new orders, up from 27 orders during the same month a year ago. It did not record any cancellations. After adjusting for accounting standards, Boeing added 42 orders to its contracted backlog: 33 737 MAX jets, two 777 freighters and seven 787s. That is down from 142 gross orders in December, including 30 787 orders for flydubai and 100 737 MAX orders from Turkey’s Pegasus Airlines, a longtime Airbus customer. As Boeing works to stabilize commercial jetliner production in the United States, a Boeing executive told Reuters on Monday that there is not enough demand in India to justify opening a final assembly line in the country. 21. Ex-Activision Blizzard Boss Thought Warcraft Was One Of The Worst Movies Ever Made Ex-Activision Blizzard Boss Thought Warcraft Was One Of The Worst Movies Ever Made In 2016, Universal and Activision Blizzard brought World of Warcraft to the big screen in Warcraft. The film only earned $47.4 million in the United States, but its worldwide total was $439.1 million. Regardless, Bobby Kotick, the former CEO of Activision Blizzard, recently shared his belief that Warcraft was not only one of the worst movies he’s ever seen, he also cited it as one of the reasons why World of Warcraft veteran designer Chris Metzen left Blizzard in 2016. While appearing on the Grit podcast, Kotick explained that Metzen became burned out during the production of the Warcraft movie. Kotick added that he felt it was “a terrible idea” to make the film, but the deal was already in place before Activision merged with Blizzard. He also went on to say that Warcraft proved to be a major distraction for Blizzard that took the company’s focus off of the games. “It took a lot of resources and distracted [Blizzard],” recalled Kotick. “You think about all these people who make video games for a living and now they have the chance to like make a movie and they’re like helping with the casting and they’re on the set and it’s just a huge distraction. Our expansions were late, you know patches weren’t getting done on time and… it was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.” Kotick added that he begged Metzen to return to Blizzard, which he finally did in 2022. Since Metzen’s comeback, Kotick noted that they have hardly spoken, before asking rhetorically, “What am I going to tell Chris Metzen about game design?” Despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it was recently reaffirmed that World of Warcraft is not coming to Game Pass. World of Warcraft celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2024, and there’s no end in sight for the game. 22. *** Police Target Pro-Lifer Again for Silently Praying: ‘Automatically a Criminal’ *** Police Target Pro-Lifer Again for Silently Praying: ‘Automatically a Criminal’ New footage obtained by the nonprofit law firm Alliance Defending Freedom *** (ADF ***) shows an officer employed by a *** police officer demanding a charity volunteer to leave an abortion facility censorship zone or “buffer zone” for silently praying in her head. The video footage shows a West Midlands police officer explaining that the “mere presence” of Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, a pro-life volunteer and co-director of March for Life ***, constitutes “harassment, alarm and distress” for simply standing alone, praying silently. BREAKING: West Midlands Police have AGAIN targeted Isabel Vaughan-Spruce. Changing tact from going after her prayers, they now claim her “mere presence” is “harassment”. Nobody should be banned from a public area just because of their beliefs. THIS is two-tier policing. pic.twitter.com/J7z5VVzh6P — ADF International (@ADFIntl) February 10, 2025 “With you being the leader of an anti-abortion organization is causing people harm and distress. And though you are not saying anything, it is causing people these issues because they know who you are,” the officer said. The officer told Vaughan-Spruce she was violating the rules of the “buffer zone” – an area within 150 meters of an abortion facility – by standing near it. “[The officer] believes that just because I hold pro-life beliefs, I am automatically a criminal in certain public areas. This isn’t right,” Vaughn-Spruce expressed. She has sought legal help from ADF *** to ask the police for clarification on how a “person’s mere presence” amounts to a criminal offense. ***Please sign up for CBN Newsletters and download the CBN News app to ensure you keep receiving the latest news from a distinctly Christian perspective.*** This is not the first time Vaughan-Spruce has been confronted by police. As CBN News reported, the pro-life advocate was arrested twice for silently praying inside an abortion “buffer zone,” but she was tried at Birmingham Magistrates Court in February 2023 and was found innocent. “CPS Guidance from October 2024 stipulates that silent prayer is ‘not necessarily’ a crime in an abortion ‘buffer zone’. The guidance further states that any actions must be ‘overt’ to meet the threshold of criminality,” ADF *** explained. Last time, the West Midlands Police apologized and paid £13,000 for breaching Vaughan-Spruce’s human rights. “It has been made clear time and time again through the verdict of Birmingham Magistrates’ Court, through the concession and payout from the police, through the words of the former Home Secretary, and through CPS Guidance – you cannot break the law by simply existing in a buffer zone, holding thoughts and beliefs in your mind,” said Vaughan-Spruce. She continued, “Every person has a right to stand in a public space and think what they want. The police officer told me that my ‘mere presence’ was offensive – that’s nothing short of viewpoint discrimination. He believes that just because I hold pro-life beliefs, I am automatically a criminal in certain public areas. This isn’t right.” The legal defense group says the West Midlands police authorities are now “changing” their tactic from “going after her prayers” to now claiming “her ‘mere presence’ is ‘harassment’.” “Nobody should be criminalised for publicly holding lawful views or associating with any lawful cause. The idea that the state can interrogate citizens and instruct them to leave certain public areas based on their pro-life beliefs and associations is profoundly chilling and concrete evidence, if ever we needed more, of viewpoint-based two-tier policing,” said ADF *** legal counsel Jeremiah Igunnubole. “If Isabel can be treated this way then what does this mean for all Christians holding to biblical truths? This isn’t 1984; it’s 2025 – police must respect the fundamental rights of freedom of speech, thought, and association,” he added. 23. Magnus Carlsen in Talks to Join Team Liquid Magnus Carlsen in Talks to Join Team Liquid · · February 11, 2025 Number one ranked chess player and five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen is reportedly close to joining esports organization Team Liquid. The signing of the consensus best chess player in the world would align with the upcoming debut of chess at the Esports World Cup. Magnus Carlsen in “Advanced Negotiations” with Liquid Per a report from Sheep Esports reporter Alejandro “anonimotum” Gomis, Magnus Carlsen is likely to sign a deal with Liquid. Gomis notes in their report that with chess debuting at the Esports World Cup in 2025, Liquid is likely seeking to expand its winnings potential. In the inaugural EWC in 2024, Liquid finished second in the club championship race behind Falcons, taking home $4 million in addition to the prizes won from individual competitions. To even those only slightly familiar with chess, Carlsen is known as one of the greatest players of all-time, if not the greatest. He’s held the International Chess Federation’s number one ranking since July 2011. He became the first player to hold the Chess, Rapid, and Blitz world championships at the same time in 2014, and then accomplished that feat again two more times. Carlsen most recently made the news after withdrawing from the Rapid and Blitz world championships, after being warned and fined for wearing jeans. He did end up competing in the Blitz tournament after the dress code was loosened, but again sparked controversy after successfully proposing to share the championship after a deadlocked tie with Ian Nepomniachtchi. Chess isn’t the only game making its debut at the Esports World Cup in the event’s second year. Just yesterday, the EWC announced that VALORANT would join Riot Games titles League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics at the 2025 tournament. Is this the biggest name outside of esports to sign with an organization? Let us know on the Insider Gaming forum. 24. Google maps changes Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America for US users Google maps changes Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America for US users Google maps has changed the Gulf of Mexico’s name to the Gulf of America for people using the app in the US. Explaining the move, Google said it was making the change as part of “a longstanding practice” of following name changes when updated by official government sources. It said the Gulf – which is bordered by the US, Cuba and Mexico – would not be changed for people using the app in Mexico, and users elsewhere in the world will see the label: “Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)”. It comes after President Donald Trump ordered the body of water to be renamed in US government documents after he returned to office last month. Mexico had decried the move, arguing that the US had no legal right to change the gulf’s name. The change was made by Google on Monday after the Geographic Names Information System, a US government database run by the Interior Department, listed an update to the Gulf’s name. The listing reads: “The Gulf of America, formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico, with an average depth 5300 ft is a major body of water bordered and nearly landlocked by North America with the Gulf’s eastern, northern, and northwestern shores in the U.S. and its southwestern and southern shores in Mexico.” It said the change was made in accordance with Trump’s executive order to “restore names that honor American Greatness”. Following the signing of the order, President Trump proclaimed 9 February as “Gulf of America Day”. “I call upon public officials and all the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities,” a White House statement said. Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum had asked Google to reconsider its decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico. She argued the US could not legally change the Gulf’s name because the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea dictates that an individual country’s sovereign territory only extends up to 12 nautical miles out from the coastline. Trump’s executive order, signed on 20 January, also ordered North America’s tallest mountain – formerly known as Mount Denali – be renamed Mount McKinley. It has not yet been renamed in Google maps.
