  1. What to know as San Diego airport nears end of first phase in Terminal 1 revamp What to know as San Diego airport nears end of first phase in Terminal 1 revamp SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The first phase of construction to San Diego International Airport’s brand-new Terminal 1 is nearing its end. However, before it opens later this year, people should plan for another round of construction-related traffic interruptions when driving in and out of the airport. Starting on Feb. 20, a stretch of Airport Terminal Road on approach to Terminal 1 — both the forthcoming terminal and the existing one — and its adjacent Parking Plaza will have several lane closures in place due to the ongoing construction. Suspected hand grenade unearthed by construction workers at San Diego International Airport Drivers will need to merge into the left-most lanes while passing the new Terminal 1 while the closures are in place. According to the airport authority, they are expecting to lift the lane closures sometime in May. Lane closures map. (San Diego International Airport) Travelers are encouraged to plan for traffic congestion when heading to the airport with the construction, especially for flights during peak hours — 4 a.m. to 6:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to midnight. Although this advance thinking is likely nothing new for San Diegans, who have become accustomed to disruptions from Terminal 1-related work during the more than three years since groundbreaking. The $3.8 billion project will replace the aged Terminal 1, which is currently used by Southwest and budget airlines, with a new building holding up to 30 new gates and modernized amenities for travelers — from shops and restaurants to gate-area seating and art. Thousands of new parking spaces will also be added at the airport as part of the Terminal 1 project, including the more than 2,800 that opened ahead of the busy Labor Day weekend. SANDAG renews interest in Trolley connection for airport transit link The first phase of construction to the new terminal is expected to be complete by summer 2025 and will include 19 of the 30 new gates. An exact date for the opening has not yet been announced. After it opens, construction will then turn to the demolition of the existing Terminal 1 to make way for the second wing of the new building. This next stage of work is expected to take until at least mid-2028. The project’s cost is being funded through federal grants, such as those from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and airline operating and lease agreements. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. 3. McKenzie brace as Chiefs down Blues in final rematch McKenzie brace as Chiefs down Blues in final rematch Damian McKenzie has scored two tries as the Chiefs got a measure of revenge for their defeat in last year’s Super Rugby Pacific final with a 25-14 victory over the Blues at rain-soaked Eden Park. Saturday’s blockbuster clash bucked the opening weekend trend of high-scoring matches but a bruising, high-quality contest suggested both teams will be among the competition front-runners again this season. Flanker Dalton Papali’i barged his way over the line to give the reigning champion Blues the first try of the game just before the half hour mark after McKenzie’s penalty had given the Chiefs an early lead. A second McKenzie penalty cut the deficit to one point but a break down the wing by Mark Tele’a set up centre AJ Lam for another Blues try to send the hosts into the break with a 14-6 lead. The Chiefs struck first in the second half when they elected to kick for touch from a penalty and McKenzie ghosted over the line for his first try after the ensuing lineout. The All ******* playmaker was unable to convert his own try but the Chiefs hit the front at 18-14 with a try from centre Leroy Carter while Blues prop Josh Fusitua was in the sinbin for a high shot. Staunch Chiefs defence kept the Blues attack in check and McKenzie slid over for his second try five minutes from time, converting from wideout to take his personal tally to 20 points and assure his side of a first win at Eden Park for five years. “Outstanding feeling, the Blues are the benchmark, they were last year,” said McKenzie. “I put it down to our forwards tonight, they really muscled up and met fire with fire and allowed us to score tries.” Source link #McKenzie #brace #Chiefs #Blues #final #rematch Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  4. FromSoftware’s Biggest Fumble with Elden Ring Nightreign Is Leaving Out One Popular Character FromSoftware’s Biggest Fumble with Elden Ring Nightreign Is Leaving Out One Popular Character As Elden Ring Nightreign’s network test kicks into high gear this weekend, players are discovering that FromSoftware’s latest venture into the Lands Between feels dramatically different from its predecessor. While director Junya Ishizaki and his team have reimagined many aspects of the original formula, one particular change has raised more than a few eyebrows. Not the Lands Between you remember, dear Tarnished. | Image Credit: FromSoftware The upcoming standalone spinoff promises a fresh take on the Elden Ring experience, with faster-paced combat, three-player co-op, and a shrinking playfield that would make even battle royale enthusiasts feel right at home. But amidst all these innovations, FromSoftware has made a decision that might leave some faithful Tarnished feeling a bit… unmounted. For those currently participating in the network test, the absence of a certain loyal companion has become immediately apparent. And while the developers insist they have good reasons for this change, the question remains: will their alternative solutions prove worthy replacements? A faithful companion left behind When players first venture into Elden Ring Nightreign‘s take on a universe parallel to the base game, they’ll quickly notice something—or rather, someone—missing. The trusty spectral steed Torrent, who carried countless Tarnished through perilous swamps and past fearsome dragons, won’t be making an appearance in this new adventure. Speaking to Dot Esports during a recent preview event, Ishizaki explained the reasoning behind this controversial decision: We hope that players look forward to all sorts of new traversal techniques in Nightreign. Traversal of the map and exploring the map has changed—and game speed and game feel. Instead of galloping across the landscape, players will now take to the skies with Spectral Hawks, massive ethereal birds that can be summoned at specific points throughout the map. These majestic creatures serve as both initial deployment vehicles and mid-match transportation options. We hope players enjoy using the sprinting and mounting system and Spectral Hawks to get around the map. In these ways, we have tried to change around the traversal, and in many ways, it does feel speedier than riding Torrent when you go back to playing Elden Ring. But it’s not just about the birds. FromSoftware has implemented a completely new movement system that includes wall-jumping, enhanced sprinting, and—in a very un-Soulslike twist—complete immunity to fall damage. The result is a faster, more vertical experience that emphasizes agility over the methodical exploration of the original. Speed over sentiment Who needs hooves when you’ve got hawks and parkour? | Image Credit: FromSoftware While Elden Ring Nightreign might be sacrificing nostalgia for the sake of innovation, the changes make sense within the context of the game’s design. The smaller, constantly shrinking map and faster-paced gameplay demand a different approach to movement and exploration. The new traversal system reflects this shift in priorities. Players can now sprint at speeds comparable to galloping on horseback, while the Spectral Hawks provide a vertical dimension that even Torrent’s famous double jump couldn’t match. The removal of fall damage further encourages aggressive, acrobatic play—something that would feel out of place in the more methodical original game. This reimagining of movement mechanics aligns perfectly with Nightreign’s roguelike elements and shorter match duration. When you’re racing against both the clock and a shrinking playfield, having to summon and mount a horse might feel unnecessarily cumbersome. The new system keeps players in constant motion, maintaining the intense pace that Ishizaki and his team are aiming for. Still, one can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia for those quiet moments spent riding across The Lands Between with your faithful spectral steed. But perhaps that’s exactly the point—Nightreign isn’t trying to recreate those moments. It’s forging its own path, even if that means leaving some beloved companions behind. What do you think about FromSoftware’s decision to remove Torrent from Elden Ring Nightreign? Will the new traversal mechanics make up for the loss? Share your thoughts in the comments below! 5. Will XRP Still Be a Buy if It Goes Above $3 in 2025? Will XRP Still Be a Buy if It Goes Above $3 in 2025? It’s very possible for cryptocurrencies to spend a bit too much time in the spotlight, leaving latecomers to crypto investing to take heavy losses, when having a bit of foresight would have spared them a lot of pain. In that vein, XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is currently priced around $2.50 (as of Feb. 13), but is it still worth an investment if its price surges higher than $3 this year? Let’s investigate this question, because in many ways, it isn’t even the right thing to be asking. XRP’s price today is, like all other cryptocurrencies and publicly traded assets, determined largely by the psychology of the investors buying, selling, and holding it. People buy and hold assets they think will be worth more in the future; they sell assets they think will be worth less. The fair market value of an asset itself on any given day is just a representation of where the center point is in the endless tug-of-war between buyers willing to pay a bit more for the asset just to hold it, and sellers willing to get a bit less just to get cash instead. If the price of a digital coin like XRP goes up over time, it’s because there’s more money that wants to acquire the coin and keep it than there is money locked up in the coin that wants to escape into cash. In other words, investors are, on average, more hopeful about getting more money by waiting and holding the coin than they are fearful of losing the equivalent amount of cash. Why would investors think this? For one, if there’s a solid investment thesis for an asset, which describes how and why the asset will be worth more in the future than it is today, it goes a long way toward getting investors to hold. But think for a moment about what that implies about the price on any given day. If you thought this means the price itself simply doesn’t matter much, only the sentiment about where it’s going, you’re on the right track. And that’s precisely how you should be thinking about whether to invest in XRP. Whether XRP is above $1, $2, or $3 is immaterial to whether it can continue to gain in value from any given point. As long as there’s a good set of reasons suggesting that it will continue to produce value, it has a clear runway to continue increasing from whatever price it’s at to whatever arbitrary price point you pick in the future. That doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to go up, just that spending time analyzing the price of the coin at any one point in time is much less fruitful than understanding the factors driving its rise, which we’ll get into next. Story Continues As it turns out, XRP has a good chance of rising above $3 and beyond in the future because it’s a good cryptocurrency investment. The coin is used by financial institutions including Santander and JPMorgan Chase to process transfers of money across international borders. Using XRP is useful for these businesses because it enables them to avoid paying hefty international wire-transfer fees, and it allows transactions to close within a few minutes instead of a few days. It also enables those companies to avoid paying international currency exchange fees, which are levied as a percentage of a transfer’s total value, and which therefore tend to be major expenses. And that’s why XRP’s blockchain processed more than $5.1 billion in transactions in the 24-hour ******* ended on Feb. 11. Each of those transactions generated a small quantity of fees that goes toward maintaining and upgrading the network. It’s clear that there’s a lot of institutional buy-in here already. More adoption is likely on the way, especially if regulators approve new financial instruments that hold XRP in traditional financial accounts, like exchange-traded funds (ETFs). In other words, there’s ample reason for investors to be optimistic about XRP being more valuable tomorrow than it is today. Jump ahead five or six years, and it might be vastly more valuable, especially if it can continue to beat out competition from other fintechs trying to gain ground in international money transfers. If you buy it today and hold it for that long, you probably won’t even remember when the price crosses $3. Keeping a healthy long-term view of your investments tends to make you forget what the price was during any given *******, especially when you still have evidence that they’ll be worth even more in the future. 6. NATO’s Rutte tells Europe to stop complaining, come up with concrete ideas NATO’s Rutte tells Europe to stop complaining, come up with concrete ideas MUNICH, GERMANY – FEBRUARY 15: NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte walks outside the main venue at the 61st Munich Security Conference on February 15, 2025 in Munich, Germany. International defence and security leaders from around the world are gathering for the February 14-16 conference. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images) Sean Gallup | Getty Images News | Getty Images NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Saturday offered some blunt advice to European members of the military alliance in the face of a more confrontational U.S.: stop complaining and present solutions. “Get into the debate, not by complaining …. but by coming up with concrete ideas,” he told the Munich Security Conference. The NATO chief also confirmed that the alliance would reach a new agreement for defense spending targets when members meet in June for a summit in the Hague, Netherlands. Speaking on a panel alongside Rutte, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham said that Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his offensive against Ukraine, had done more than any NATO member to galvanize increases in military spending. “Putin has done more to help NATO than we have,” he said, adding that the Russian leader had made a “serious miscalculation.” The thorny issue of NATO defense spending is a key part of growing division and discomfort between the U.S. and Europe. Trump’s relationship with the Western military alliance was acrimonious during his first presidency, with the Republican leader frequently lambasting NATO member states for not abiding by a 2014 target to spend at least 2% of GDP on defense every year. Ahead of his second term in office, Trump signaled that the debate over military spending — and Trump’s perception that NATO members are over-reliant on the U.S. for their own security — will be back on the agenda, stating that NATO’s 32 member countries should contribute even more toward defense. “I think NATO should have 5% [of their GDP as a NATO contribution target],” he said in January. “They can all afford it, but they should be at 5%, not 2%”, he said at a press conference in which he also refused to rule out using military force to seize the Panama Canal or Greenland — a territory that belongs to NATO member Denmark. There has been a broad increase in defense expenditure among NATO members since Trump was last in power. In 2018, at the height of the White House leader’s irritation with the military bloc, only six member states met even the 2% of GDP target. By contrast, NATO data estimates that 23 members met the 2% target in 2024. While some surpassed that threshold — such as Poland, Estonia, the U.S., Latvia and Greece — major economic powers including Canada, Spain and Italy are among the laggards below the contribution threshold. No NATO member has reached a 5% target suggested by Trump, including Washington under the administration of his predecessor Joe Biden. This is a developing story and will be updated shortly. 7. Unlike Palworld, Dark and Darker Isn’t Being Sued for Copyright Infringement but It Still Gets Fined of around $6 Million Unlike Palworld, Dark and Darker Isn’t Being Sued for Copyright Infringement but It Still Gets Fined of around $6 Million In case you didn’t know, Ironmace and Nexon, the companies behind Dark and Darker and The First Descendant, are locked in a legal battle. Well up until the recent verdict on February 13, 2025. But despite the court reaching a verdict, the battle isn’t over for either side. For once it’s a lawsuit not involving Nintendo. | Image Credit: Ironmace A South Korean court ruled that while Ironmace did not infringe on Nexon’s copyright, it did, however, use Nexon’s trade secrets during the development of Dark and Darker. As a result, Ironmace has been ordered to pay Nexon 8.5 billion won (approximately $5.9 million) in damages. Dark and Darker is here to stay as the Korean court reaches a verdict It’s a win-loss for the developers. | Image Credit: Ironmace Nexon first filed its lawsuit against Ironmace in 2021, claiming that the studio’s founders, who previously worked on Project P3, had stolen proprietary data to develop Dark and Darker. The company alleged that a former employee had leaked essential project files before forming Ironmace and making the dungeon-crawling PvPvE title. NEXON vs IRONMACE lawsuit ruling was today: • Dark and Darker not guilty of copyright, but of trade-secret damage • IRONMACE fined $5.9M USD (~$690k in March 2024, rest in June); and to cover 80% of legal costs for the case. Story of employee mobility and project boundaries. pic.twitter.com/OakBHKSNM3 — PlayerIGN (@PlayerIGN) February 13, 2025 After all this time, the court ruled on February 13, 2025, that Dark and Darker did not violate copyright law (via The Korea Times). The difference between copyright infringement and trade secret infringement played a key role in the case. Copyright infringement would have meant that Dark and Darker directly copied protected creative elements from P3, but since P3 never made it to market, the court dismissed this claim. Dark and Darker first came onto our radar in 2023 during its alpha-testing phase. However, Nexon’s legal action led to the game’s removal from Steam in March of that year. Ironmace responded by distributing the game via BitTorrent, which turned into an unexpected marketing success. And many fans’ and our joy, the game returned to Steam in June 2024 after a South Korean court dismissed Nexon’s preliminary injunction. IRONMACE IS FREEEEE Pumping brakes tweet: Ironmace still has the REST of the lawsuit to deal with which will probably take years, but no evidence of p3 being submitted by @NEXON_KR means they got ***** to stand on and Dark and Darker will likely be back on steam SOON pic.twitter.com/73kE5QHNkm — Onepeg (@OnepegMG) January 26, 2024 Ironmace has stated that it respects the court’s decision but has not yet confirmed whether it will appeal the ruling. The nearly $6 million fine is a big amount, but it is not a fatal one. But all may not be over yet. We hear lawsuits these days and just think of Nintendo But it has nothing to do with them this time. | Image Credit: Ironmace The ruling should give us a sigh of relived, but Nexon has hinted at appealing the decision. In a statement following the verdict, the company expressed satisfaction that the court recognized the economic impact of Ironmace’s actions but suggested that further legal action could follow. The legal battle between the two companies may not be over. The Dark and Darker case could be compared to Nintendo’s ongoing lawsuit against Palworld, which is facing allegations of patent infringement from Nintendo. But while Palworld’s legal issues involve direct accusations of copying game mechanics and assets, Dark and Darker’s case was about trade secrets rather than copies of assets. Despite the legal setback, there are no obstacles stopping Ironmace from continuing the development of its game. The studio has even partnered with PUBG developer Krafton to bring Dark and Darker to mobile. So let’s all get back to enjoying our time playing it. 9. *** ‘must do more’ to share Europe security burden *** ‘must do more’ to share Europe security burden Reuters David Lammy and John Healey said the West had not responded well enough to Russian aggression in the past The *** and EU must work together and “do more” to “share the burden” of security across Europe, two senior ministers have said. Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Defence Secretary John Healey added that the West had done too little in the past when Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2014. In an article for The Telegraph, they said the *** had committed an additional £150m towards military aid for Ukraine as well as new sanctions on people close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Their comments come after the US Vice-President, JD Vance, told the Munich Security Conference on Friday that Europe must “step up in a big way to provide for its own defence”. In his address, Vance said it was his belief that the greatest threat facing Europe was not from Russia or China but “from within”. He said many European governments, including the ***’s, had retreated from their values and ignored issues like migration and free speech. Lammy is due to speak as part of a “townhall” meeting on Ukraine at the summit later on Saturday, and will also take part in a panel discussion on European security. Reuters JD Vance told the Munich Security Conference that the greatest threat facing Europe is ‘from within’ The comments by Lammy and Healey focused on external threats. The ministers said: “From opposition and in government, we have been clear that Europe and the *** must do more together to share the burden of our continent’s security.” They added that the West’s response to Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008 and Ukraine in 2014 had been inadequate and that “Putin only responds to strength”. They said that for two decades the Russian leader had been “seeking to recreate the Russian empire and suffocate the countries around its borders”. They wrote that the ***, US and Europe were united in achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine, which should be sovereign and prosperous. Meeting Vance on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he wanted “security guarantees” ahead of planned peace talks between the US and Russia. US President Donald Trump said he had spoken to Putin on Wednesday and agreed to “work together, very closely” to bring an end to the war in Ukraine. It has been nearly three years since Russia invaded. EPA-EFE/REX/Shutterstock Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed an ‘army of Europe’ to secure the continent’s borders Zelensky has proposed what he described as an “army of Europe” to secure the continent. He told the conference on Saturday: “As we fight this war and lay the groundwork for peace and security, we must build the armed forces of Europe so that Europe’s future depends only on Europeans, and decisions about Europe are made in Europe.” He added: “Europe needs a single voice, not a dozen different ones.” Among the other possible security guarantees is the deployment of a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine. Lord Dannatt, who was head of the British army from 2006 to 2009, said about 100,000 soldiers would be needed for such a mission and that the *** might need to contribute 40,000 of them. “We just haven’t got that number available,” he told the BBC Radio 4’s The Week in Westminster. “Our military is so run down at the present moment, numerically and as far as capability and equipment is concerned, it would potentially be quite embarrassing.” Sir Richard Shirreff, Nato’s former deputy supreme commander, told Radio 4’s Today programme that “100,000 [troops] is probably the minimum”. Asked about calls to significantly increase defence spending, he said: “This is a defining moment for European militaries [and] European governments”. Max Payne is by far one of the most successful franchises on the market, it did wonders for the developer when it was released years ago and players have been meaning to see a refined version of the game for a very long time if the above-mentioned dates turn out to be true then players can hope to play Max Payne on their latest devices very soon. Alan Wake 2 gave players a taste of intimate storytelling narrated through the lens of a writer in a horrific world. This game’s appeal reaches out far and wide and a sequel is much anticipated. Brace yourselves for the next big wave of Remedy Entertainment’s games Remedy Entertainment has big plans for the future. Indigenous All Stars: Almost 40,000 fans give tick of approval to All Stars concept in WA Indigenous All Stars: Almost 40,000 fans give tick of approval to All Stars concept in WA WA footy fans have voted with their feet in supporting the Indigenous All Stars concept, with 37,865 people descending on Optus Stadium to watch the pre-season spectacle on Saturday. The stands were filled with a colourful mix of purple Fremantle jumpers with the bright yellow All Stars jerseys and Indigenous jumpers from teams across the league for the return of the representative side for the first time in a decade. While the excitement of players to play alongside each other was evident, fans were equally thrilled to see the best of the country’s Indigenous talent together on the same team. Faithful Fremantle fans Emily and Pip Gailbraith made the 100km trip from York to see the Dockers in action for the first time this year and said the special event needed to become a regular fixture again. “We are here to support Freo and the ruckman for the Indigenous All Stars, young Coen Livingstone, is a York boy,” Emily said. “The atmosphere here is amazing, we have run into heaps of people who we wouldn’t normally see at a Dockers game because they support West Coast or another team and it’s really great. “They need to do this more often, maybe they could play a WA team one year and the next a South *********** team and so on.” “It’s good to see the Indigenous talent that’s out there and it all to be in one team and play together and the chemistry they’ve got is absolutely insane,” Pip said. “It’s good to see everyone yet together and support everyone.” Camera IconMicah Martin (7), Keenan Martin, Nanette Muir and Noah Muir-Haywood (2) Credit: Daniel Wilkins/The West *********** Past and current Indigenous players and their families came from all over the state to watch the biggest stars in the game in action. The Revolution D.F. X 1050 is Enermax’s statement of intent, showcasing its technical prowess and its ability to meet the needs of power users alongside a unique aesthetic design. The Revolution D.F. X 1050 comes with a promise of delivering not just ample power but also operational efficiency, durability, and a host of smart features to ensure optimum performance. The patented DFR (Dust Free Rotation) technology, for instance, is a notable inclusion aimed at reducing dust accumulation, supposedly prolonging the unit’s lifespan and ensuring consistent performance. As we delve deeper into the analysis of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU, we shall scrutinize every facet of this unit to ascertain whether it lives up to the lofty standards set by its predecessors and the expectations synonymous with the Enermax brand name. Specifications and Design In the Box We received the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU in a fairly large cardboard box with thick, sturdy walls. Inside the box, the PSU is additionally protected inside packaging foam. The ******/red artwork on the box is focused on the unit itself. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) Enermax kept the bundled items down to the bare minimum, with an AC power cable, four mounting screws, just two simple cable ties, a colorful sticker, and a 24-pin connector jumper that can be used to power on the PSU without connecting it to a motherboard. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The modular cables of the Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU are all ******, with ribbon-like linked ****** wires and ****** connectors. This includes the 12+4 pin cable of the unit. There is also an extra optional cable for connecting the internal ARGB to an external controller or compatible motherboard. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) External Appearance Enermax has managed to encapsulate a substantial power output within the Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU, all while adhering to the standard ATX dimensions of 150 × 140 × 86 mm (W×D×H). This meticulous design ensures the unit’s compatibility across a vast array of ATX-compliant enclosures, encompassing Desktop HTPC and other compact configurations. The vital electrical specifications and certifications are neatly displayed on a sticker atop the unit. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) Straying from the minimalist design approach, the Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU flaunts a unique aesthetic charm. It is sprayed with textured ****** paint and showcases a distinctive octagonal fan grill located at the base of the chassis, which is elegantly adorned with a badge at its center. The right side of the chassis is completely plain, while the left side is home to what initially appears to be a typical decorative sticker with the company and series logos. What initially appears to be a simple decorative sticker is actually a frosted display that illuminates various colors and effects, adding a visually appealing aspect for users who appreciate RGB setups. The Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU offers 14 built-in lighting modes, providing a range of color and effect options including various static colors and dynamic rainbow effects. The lighting is limited to the side display, making it subtle and elegantly applied. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) On the rear side, besides the customary small on/off switch and AC cable receptacle, the Revolution D.F. X 1050 incorporates a square momentary switch on its rear side. This switch rotates the pre-programmed RGB effects if the unit is not connected to an external ARGB controller and also allows users to easily turn off the lighting by holding it down for three seconds. The front of the chassis houses connectors for the modular cables. Although the connectors are not color-coded, a basic legend is imprinted on the chassis to facilitate correct cable connections. The PCI Express and CPU 12V cables employ identical connectors, eliminating the risk of incorrect cable insertion, thanks to the distinct connector designs and keyed configurations. Internal Design Enermax is using one of their own brand PFERS-12Μ fans for the cooling needs of the Revolution D.F. X 1050, the maximum size of fan that fits in a standard ATX chassis is 120 mm. It is a very high-quality fan, with a dual ball bearing 6-pole engine. Ball-bearing engines are very reliable but not the quietest, however the PSU features a semi-passive design that will completely stop the fan while the load is low. Enermax also programmed a “Dust-Free Rotation” mode into the fan, which has the fan making a powerful reverse spin once it is powered on, supposedly blowing away any accumulated dust. This will not be of much use for systems that are on 24/7 and it is likely that the fan will simply draw the dust back towards it after that momentary reverse spin, yet it could help in some cases and very dusty environments. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) Although the platform may be initially mistaken for a Great Wall design, the OEM behind the creation of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 actually is Dongguan SANR Electronic Technology (also known as Casecom). SANR is a large ******** OEM but we rarely find their platforms in high-end products. Even though the chassis was reduced to just 140 mm, the internals of the PSU are not as packed as we thought they would be. Rubycon supplies the two 450V/390μF capacitors of the APFC stage, which are placed next to a single large filtering inductor. The active PCF components are two CWS60R125AZ power transistors and a diode. Two MOSFETs form a typical synchronous half-bridge LLC inversion stage towards the main transformer. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) Six 014N04SA MOSFETs generate the single 12V line on the other side of the transformer. The DC-to-DC converters for the 5V and 3.3V voltage lines can be seen right after a very small heatsink. The secondary side capacitors are a mix of Rubycon, Nippon Chemi-****, and Nichicon products, all of which are from Japanese manufacturers. Cold Test Results Cold Test Results (25°C Ambient) For the testing of PSUs, we are using high precision electronic loads with a maximum power draw of 2700 Watts, a Rigol DS5042M 40 MHz oscilloscope, an Extech 380803 power analyzer, two high precision UNI-T UT-325 digital thermometers, an Extech HD600 SPL meter, a self-designed hotbox and various other bits and parts. The Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 has a particularly interesting energy conversion efficiency curve. It is extremely efficient at low to medium loads, delivering figures that could easily grant it an 80Plus Platinum certification regardless of the input voltage. However, its efficiency drops significantly when the load is greater than 600 Watts, preventing the PSU from receiving an efficiency certification greater than 80Plus Gold. The average nominal load efficiency with an input voltage of 230 VAC is 92.7% a very high figure for an 80Plus Gold certified product. It drops significantly when the input voltage is reduced to 115 VAC, down to 90.2%, suggesting that the platform is largely optimized for a 230 VAC input, but it still easily meets the 80Plus Gold certification requirements. By default, the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 has a semi-fanless mode programmed, which signifies that the fan activation is dependent on the cooling demand. Unlike the vast majority of competitive products, there is no way to switch to an always-on mode for the cooling fan. Nevertheless, the programmed cooling profile is highly proactive, with the fan starting when the load is just above 150 Watts. The internal temperatures of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 are fairly low for a PSU with that kind of power output and such small dimensions. The cooling profile of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 is optimized for low noise operation across the first half of the loading spectrum, with the fan spinning at a low speed with a load up to 600 Watts. After that point, the controller increases the speed of the fan sharply, quickly bringing the noise levels high, favoring good thermal performance and safety over acoustics. The fan reaches its maximum speed only when the unit is loaded at 100% capacity for a protracted ******* of time. Hot Test Results Hot Test Results (~45°C Ambient) The Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 has its output specified for an ambient temperature of 40°C. Generally, PC power supply units (PSUs) are categorized based on their temperature ratings, with 40°C typically associated with low-end to entry-level mainstream units, and 50°C designated for quality mid-tier to high-performance products. The 40°C rating of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 is disquieting for a product of such a class but the rating alone does not warrant poor high temperature performance. The performance of PC power supply units (PSUs) is known to vary with ambient temperature, with the degree of variation largely dependent on the design and quality of the unit. In the case of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU, the energy conversion efficiency exhibits a marginal drop of 0.3-0.4% at low loads, a range that is within acceptable limits. However, as the load increases, the efficiency decrement escalates to higher than 1%, indicating a different efficiency behavior under heavy load conditions compared to low load scenarios. This pattern suggests that the thermal stress on the active components becomes more pronounced as the unit is subjected to higher loads, reflecting on the design characteristics of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050. Under adverse environmental conditions, the fan within the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU begins its operation almost immediately after the load surpasses 50 Watts. The fan’s activity progressively escalates, reaching its apex once the load surpasses 800 Watts. Beyond this point, the temperatures tend to elevate to a somewhat uncomfortable level, indicating a threshold at the platform’s design capacity and capabilities. PSU Quality and Bottom Line Power Supply Quality The electrical performance of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU is commendable, especially for a high-performance unit, reflecting a strong emphasis by the design engineers on the primary 12V rail. This rail exhibits excellent regulation, with a variance of less than 0.5% across the nominal load range, and effective filtering demonstrated by a maximum voltage ripple of 40 mV. However, the voltage regulation and filtering on the 3.3V/5V rails are not as proficient, with regulation approximating 1.2% and voltage ripple extending up to 36 mV, though well within the design limit of 50 mV. As part of our standard testing, we test the primary protections of all PSUs we review (Over Current, Over Voltage, Over Power, and Short Circuit). The protections of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU engaged normally. The OCP of the 12V rail immediately engaged at nearly 130% of the unit’s maximum capacity, a high figure for such a PSU design. Bottom Line The Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU stands out as a compelling option for those in pursuit of a high-performance power supply unit. The build quality is robust, showcased by its intriguing external aesthetics with a textured paint finish, fully modular cables, and an elegant touch of RGB lighting on the frosted side display. Furthermore, the inclusion of high-quality Japanese capacitors throughout the unit underscores its reliability and durability. Its external allure is matched by a compact and cleanly executed internal design carried out by SANR Electronic Technology (also known as Casecom), a seasoned yet uncommon OEM in the high-end PSU arena. Despite being a relatively rare name in high-end PSU circles, they have exhibited a good design and assembly job, reflecting a blend of experience and quality assurance in the product. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) When it comes to power quality, the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 shines, particularly with its exceptional voltage regulation and filtering on the 12V rail. The unit boasts outstanding energy conversion efficiency that transcends the 80Plus Platinum benchmark at low-to-medium loads, showcasing its operational efficacy. However, a noticeable dip in efficiency is observed when the PSU is heavily loaded, relegating it to an 80Plus Gold certification under such circumstances. Thermal performance of the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 is average, showing a tendency towards higher temperatures under heavy loads in adverse environments. Nonetheless, at or near room temperature, the unit performs well, maintaining good thermal figures. When it comes to noise levels, the unit is practically inaudible at low loads in standard room temperatures, a feature that most users will appreciate. However, as the load increases, particularly in higher ambient temperatures, the noise level rises but remains within a tolerable range for most users. The fan’s maximum operational speed is attained before the unit reaches its maximum power output, which could be a concern in high-temperature environments. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) Value-wise, the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 stands out as a competitively priced option given its high power output, currently retailing at $120. This price point is particularly attractive when compared to less powerful units from competitors retailing at similar prices. The 10-year manufacturer warranty is a cherry on top, providing a sense of security and trust in the product’s quality and durability. The comprehensive set of features, compliance with ATX 3.0 standards, and the lengthy warranty make the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 a worthy investment for those in need of a high-power output PSU with a mix of aesthetic and functional attributes. However, its limited cooling performance and display of thermal stress when the unit is very heavily loaded may warrant consideration for users who plan to utilize this PSU in sustained high-demand settings. 14. Adani to restore full power to Bangladesh in days but differences remain, say sources Adani to restore full power to Bangladesh in days but differences remain, say sources By Krishna N. Das NEW DELHI (Reuters) – Adani Power has agreed to fully restore supply from a 1,600 MW India power plant to Bangladesh in a few days after a gap of three months but has rejected Dhaka’s request for discounts and tax benefits, two sources told Reuters. Billionaire Gautam Adani’s company halved supply to Bangladesh on October 31 due to payment delays as the country battled a foreign exchange shortage. This led to the shutdown of one of the two equal-sized units of the plant on November 1, followed by Bangladesh’s request to keep supplying only half the power, citing low winter demand and as the payment issue bubbled. Ahead of summer demand and on Bangladesh Power Development Board’s (BPDB) request, Adani Power has agreed to resume full supplies by next week, said the two sources who had direct knowledge of the matter but declined to be named as they were not authorised to talk to the media. The plant in eastern India sells only to Bangladesh. Adani Power, however, has not agreed to meet several other demands from BPDB, including giving discounts and concessions potentially worth millions of dollars to Bangladesh, said the sources. The two sides had a virtual meeting on Tuesday and more are likely to carry on the discussions. “They don’t want to give up on anything, even $1 million,” said one of the sources, referring to Adani Power. “We have not got any concessions. We want a mutual understanding, they are invoking the power purchase agreement.” BPDB Chairperson Md. Rezaul Karim did not respond to questions about the differences. He told Reuters earlier this week that “now there is no big issue with Adani” and that full power supply was going to begin, while he tried to step up payments beyond $85 million a month. An Adani Power spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The company said in a statement following a Reuters story on Tuesday that “dispatch of power by a power generator is dependent on the procurers’ requirements, which keep changing”. In December, an Adani source said BPDB owed the company about $900 million, while Karim said at the time the amount was only about $650 million. The pricing dispute revolves around how power tariffs are calculated. BPDB earlier wrote to Adani Power seeking tax benefits worth millions of dollars and resumption of a discount programme that ran for a year until May. (Reporting by Krishna N. 16. Maori edge hard-fought All Stars clash over Indigenous Maori edge hard-fought All Stars clash over Indigenous The Maori have claimed an attritional and gutsy 10-6 All Stars rugby league win over the Indigenous. In the lowest-scoring game since the inception of the All Stars match in 2010, tries from Jacob Laban and Jesse Arthars cancelled out Shaquai Mitchell’s four-pointer. Arthars was the winner of the Preston Campbell medal as the best player of Saturday’s game at Commbank Stadium. Cronulla playmaker Niwhai Puru had the chance to win it for the Indigenous at the death but he dropped the ball as he attempted to ground it. It meant the Maoris were able to hang on and avoid a third-straight loss in the annual pre-season match. The low-scoring affair was not aided by the absences of several key stars of both cultures, chief among them Latrell Mitchell and Jahrome Hughes. A slippery surface which led to several players falling to the turf in front of a 21,328-strong crowd did not help the coherence of either attack on a humid night in Sydney’s west. The Indigenous went closest to crossing in the first half. Maori fullback Kalyn Ponga made an incredible last-ditch tackle on Tyrone Munro to prevent him from touching down on the right wing. Josh Curran also had a try chalked off after Indigenous fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow was deemed to have impeded Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad. It meant that the scoreline after 40 minutes read 0-0. But any fears that the All Stars clash would end with a 1-0 scoreline as Super League’s season opener did two days earlier, quickly disappeared when Mitchell burst over. The front-rower was able to spin and bounce off the Maori defence before reaching out to dot the ball down right on the tryline in the 41st minute. Puru added the conversion for the Indigenous side, who were unable to hammer home their advantage with Tabuai-Fidow having a try ruled out. Eventually the Maori hit back with Brisbane winger Arthars steaming down the right flank to go over but Mawene Hiroti could not tie the game up from the tee. Hiroti nearly made amends after scooping up a loose ball and racing 60m downfield but unfortunately for the Cronulla man, Brent Naden was in hot pursuit and was able to run him down. Hiroti’s shortcomings were eventually cancelled out when a Zach Dockar-Clay bomb was picked off by Laban, who touched down to give the Maori a 10-6 lead with 12 minutes left. Naden and Puru both went close to snatching a win for the Indigenous but the Maori defence was faultless at the death.
