North Carolina senator’s office allegedly told woman to ‘move to China’ after she expressed concerns over ********* policy
A North Carolina lawmaker is going viral on TikTok after his office allegedly told a female constituent in an email to “move to China” after she raised concerns about the state’s ********* policy.
The constituent, who asked to remain anonymous due to concerns for her safety, told NBC News on Saturday that she sent an email to *********** state Sen. Danny Britt on Nov. 7 to say that her family “desperately wants to expand.”
“But because of You, [President-elect Donald] Trump and the *********** party and the strict ********* laws in this country we cannot,” she wrote in the email, a copy of which was shared with NBC News. “Thanks for ruining our futures! You all are terrible people.”
In response, Britt’s legislative assistant Camille McDougald allegedly told the constituent to consider moving to another country.
“Thank you so much for the email. I am not quite certain how we are preventing you from expanding your family. I suggest you move to China immediately and see how that works out for you,” the email reads. “If for some reason that fails Russia is nice in the winter and Venezuela in the summer.”
McDougald’s response gained attention after it was shared by TikTok user Lindsay Talley, who posted a video last week explaining that her friend has a genetic disorder that “creates life-threatening anomalies with fetal heart issues.” The video has garnered more than 260,000 views, with many of the commenters slamming the response as “unprofessional” and “disgusting.”
“This is incredibly inappropriate,” one person wrote.
“These politicians have lost their ever loving minds,” another commented.
The constituent told NBC News that she is a carrier for a very rare genetic condition with a 50% chance of being passed on to a child.
“I was scared when I wrote that email, about my livelihood,” she said.
The woman said McDougald’s response made it seem like “they don’t care.”
Multiple attempts to reach Britt and McDougald have been unsuccessful.
Under North Carolina law, abortions are legal in the following circumstances: during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy; when a qualified physician determines a medical emergency exists; through the 20th week of pregnancy when the pregnancy is a result of ***** or *******; and during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy if a doctor determines there exists a life-limiting anomaly in the fetus. If a life-limiting anomaly is detected, the patient must fill out a consent form before seeking an *********.
The woman argued that the law was not clear enough, and because of that, it is “forcing people to get care out of state.”
In the end, the woman said she wants her government representatives “to have some compassion and tell me what they’re going to do.”

Mike Tyson reveals he ‘almost *****’ during medical episode in lead-up to Jake Paul ******
Mike Tyson reveals he ‘almost *****’ during medical episode in lead-up to Jake Paul ******
Mike Tyson says despite losing to Jake Paul in his boxing comeback on Saturday afternoon (AEDT), he has still won.
The 58-year-old boxing legend stepped back in the ring for the first time in 19 years to ****** Paul, a 27-year-old YouTuber and social media influencer-turned fighter.
And while the ****** played out as many predicted it would — with the older man running out of steam early in the bout and eventually losing — he still went the full eight two-minute rounds with someone less than half his age.
On top of that, he did it just months after suffering a medical episode during a flight in May which, he now says, nearly took his life.
“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson said in a statement on Sunday morning (AEDT).
“I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.
“I almost ***** in June. Had eight blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs (11.3kgs) in hospital and had to ****** to get healthy to ****** — so I won.
“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”
Camera IconMike Tyson is thankful just to be able to have fought. Credit: Getty
Paul built the theatre of the ****** up as much as anyone in the lead-up to the bout, even saying at the weigh-in that Tyson “must ****” after being slapped in the face, but he has been a humble and gracious winner since the bell rang at the end of the eighth.
The younger boxer paid tribute to Tyson over and over again during the post-****** interview in the ring, and did so again in the comments of Tyson’s post.
“Love you Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all,” Paul wrote.
Even billionaire Elon Musk said “bravo”.
All the hate from the pre-****** build-up was gone after the ******, with Paul even stopping to pay homage with a bow to Tyson before the final bell sounded at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
Camera IconJake Paul has scored a unanimous decision victory against 58-year-old Mike Tyson in Texas. Credit: AAP
The ****** wasn’t close on the judge’s cards, with one giving Paul an 80-72 edge and the other two calling it 79-73.
Asked if it was the last time he would be seen in a ring, Tyson said: “I don’t know. It depends on the situation.
“I don’t think so. I knew (Paul) was a good fighter.
“I didn’t prove nothing to anyone, just myself. I’m not one of these guys who goes out to please the world, I’m just happy with what I can do.”
Tyson came for Paul immediately after the opening bell and landed a couple of quick punches, but didn’t try much else the rest of the way.
Even fewer and shorter rounds than a standard bout couldn’t do much to generate “Iron Mike” in his first sanctioned pro ****** in almost 20 years, facing a boxing neophyte with hopes of fighting for championships somewhere in the future.
Paul was more aggressive after the quick burst from Tyson in the opening seconds, but the punching wasn’t very efficient. There were quite a few wild swings and misses.
Camera IconMike Tyson was repeatedly spotted biting his gloves during the ******. Credit: Netflix
Tyson mostly sat back and waited for Paul to come to him, with a few exceptions. It was quite the contrast to the co-main event, another slugfest in which Katie Taylor kept her undisputed super lightweight championship with a decision over Amanda Serrano.
It was the first sanctioned ****** since 2005 for Tyson. Paul started fighting a little more than four years ago.
“Mike Tyson, this is such an honour,” said Paul.
“He’s the greatest to ever do it. He is an icon. It was an honour to ****** him. He was exactly what I thought he would be.”

President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday selected Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright to serve as the next energy secretary of the ******* States.
Liberty Energy is an oilfield services company headquartered in Denver with a $2.7 billion market capitalization. The company’s stock gained nearly 9% on Nov. 6 after Trump won the U.S. presidential election, but its shares have since pulled back.
Wright serves on the board of Oklo, a nuclear power startup backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman that is developing micro reactors.
Wright will also serve on Trump’s Council of National Energy, the president-elect said Saturday. The council will be led by Trump’s pick for Interior Secretary, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.
Wright has denied that climate change presents a global crisis that needs to be addressed through a transition away from fossil fuels.
“There is no climate crisis and we’re not in the midst of an energy transition either,” Wright said in a video posted on his LinkedIn page last year. “Humans and all complex life on earth is simply impossible without carbon dioxide. Hence the term carbon pollution is outrageous.”
“There is no such thing as clean energy or ****** energy,” Wright said. “All energy sources have impacts on the world both positive and negative.”
Trump described Wright as a “leading technologist and entrepreneur in the energy sector.”
“He has worked in Nuclear, Solar, Geothermal, and Oil and Gas,” the president-elect said in a statement Saturday.
“Most significantly, Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the ********* Shale Revolution that fueled ********* Energy Independence, and transformed the Global Energy Markets and Geopolitics,” Trump said.
Trump has vowed to increase fossil fuel production to reduce energy costs, though analysts and some oil executives have said the president has little influence on oil and natural gas output in the U.S.
The U.S. has produced more crude oil than any other country in history, including Russia and Saudi Arabia, since 2018, according to the Energy Information Administration.

‘****** are dropping, while you’re shopping’: Protesters ****** Christmas display opening
‘****** are dropping, while you’re shopping’: Protesters ****** Christmas display opening
A Christmas tradition for families threatened by protesters has made a largely scaled back unveiling.
Myer in the centre of Melbourne displays decorative Christmas windows each year. Pro-************ supporters had threatened to ****** the grand opening which was scheduled for Sunday.
However, Myer said it would cancel the grand opening which is typically attended by families. The protesters also scrapped their disruptive plans in kind.
In a largely scaled-back rendition, Santa and a few staff members pulled down the curtain on the Australia Zoo themed windows at 7.30am on Sunday.
Just a handful of protesters were at the early morning unveiling, though more started gathering before the retail giant’s store opened at 10am.

They were chanting “****** are dropping, while you’re shopping”.
At least 43,000 Gazans have been ******* in direct conflict since October 7, 2023 – about 70 per cent of those are children or women. Oxfam says Palestinians are being starved as a military tactic, and aid agencies estimate 96 per cent of Gazans face high levels of food shortages.
In Melbourne, a vocal protester shouting “free Palestine” made her presence known during a live television cross to a reporter. The demonstrator was dressed as a police officer, wearing clown make up, and holding a sign which read “you look ******* staring at windows when kids are being murdered”.

The protest group, which initially threatened a large demonstration outside the windows is separate from the organising group which has run protests through the city every Sunday since October 7, 2023.
The Australia Palestine Advocacy Network organises the weekly march through the city, and is diverting its demonstration on Sunday away from Myer.
Australia changed its position at the UN for the first time in 20 years this week, voting with 158 other countries including the ***, New Zealand, France, Germany and Japan, for a resolution to recognise the “permanent sovereignty of the ************ people in the Occupied ************ Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the ***** population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources”.

The US, Canada and ******* were among seven nations which voted against the resolution.
In light of the protest action figuratively clashing with a family Christmas tradition, Premier Jacinta Allan faced questions this week about whether Victoria needed a NSW-style protest permit system.
“Do we really think the same sort of morons who want to disrupt a beautiful Christmas tradition for families is going to apply for a permit?” she said on Friday.
Camera IconMyer scrapped plans for a grand opening of the windows, which are zoo themed this year. NewsWire / Luis Enrique Ascui Credit: News Corp Australia
“(The windows) will be open for the thousands and thousands of Victorians from all different backgrounds, from all different parts of the state, to come and enjoy that beautiful family tradition,” the Premier said.
Information from Myer shows the first window display, “Santa and the Olympics”, was erected in 1956.
The most recent display themes have been: Bluey (2023), Disney 100 year anniversary (2022), Peter Rabbit (2021) and Christmas is Uncancelled (2020).

Fugitive arrested after encounter with hunter
Fugitive arrested after encounter with hunter
EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Troopers say a hunter called 911 to report a man who was acting suspiciously Friday morning — leading police directly to a fugitive who had fled the scene of a ****** earlier that morning.
A local hunter was out in the woods in the area of Emmett Township when he saw a man near his all-terrain vehicle, according to the Michigan State Police. The hunter reported that the man was “looking suspiciously at his ATV.” After having a brief conversation with the man, troopers say the hunter called 911 and told police about the suspicious activity.
“Unbeknownst to the hunter, the individual he had encountered was a fugitive and the subject of an active manhunt,” state police wrote in a release.
The man had multiple outstanding warrants, and earlier Friday morning, he had been involved in “a dangerous hit-and-run” on Michigan Avenue near 12 1/2 Mile Road, according to MSP.
State police say the man had rammed another vehicle, which contained his girlfriend, multiple times and chased the vehicle on Michigan Avenue, causing a multi-car ****** with his “erratic driving.” Ultimately, the man’s vehicle went off the road and was disabled.
The man fled the scene of the ****** and went into the woods, according to MSP. That’s where he encountered the hunter.
After the hunter called 911, officers were able to track down the man and arrest him without further incident, state police say. The 28-year-old Battle Creek man was jailed on several charges, including ******** with a vehicle, according to MSP. His name was not released Friday.
“As deer hunting season begins, we are reminding outdoor enthusiasts to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately,” troopers wrote. “This arrest marks a successful conclusion to what could have been a much more dangerous situation, thanks to the coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies and an alert hunter.”

Turkey 0-0 Wales: Penalty miss was justice served – Bellamy
Turkey 0-0 Wales: Penalty miss was justice served – Bellamy
Akturkoglu’s missing of penalty award by referee Juan Martinez Munuera provided late drama in an eventful goalless draw on Saturday.
Although Turkey controlled most of the match in front of their hostile home crowd, Wales provided a threat of their own with a disallowed Jordan James goal and Harry Wilson hitting the post.
It was a creditable display in testing circumstances, maintaining Bellamy’s unbeaten start as Wales boss after five matches.
The former captain said beforehand that Wales would “know a lot more” about themselves and their 2026 World Cup qualifying credentials after this match in Turkey, and events in Kayseri confirmed that view.
“[I learned] a lot [about the team],” Bellamy said. “Defending the box, we’re exceptional, so that’s credit to previous managers. We’re really strong putting bodies on the line.
“I knew there would be a bit of pain today, it was a difficult game against really good opposition. Can we improve on the ball? Can our angles, can our timing be right? That’s what we need to improve on.”
Bellamy added that he also learned some valuable lessons about himself as a manager.
“I was trying to stay calm and it was difficult, especially at the end. You don’t want to be riding that rollercoaster [of emotion],” he said.
“I felt maybe once or twice I was and I don’t like it, so I need to learn from that, improve from that. I was saying to the players I need to improve as well. The test of the atmosphere Turkey were able to create, it’s hopefully going to benefit me along the line and the players as well.”

In their final meeting, Xi tells Biden he is “ready to work with a new administration”
In their final meeting, Xi tells Biden he is “ready to work with a new administration”
In their final meeting, China’s leader Xi Jinping told U.S. President Biden that his nation was “ready to work with a new administration,” as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take over.
The two leaders gathered Saturday on the sidelines of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. Mr. Biden was expected to urge Xi to dissuade North Korea from further deepening its support for Russia’s war on Ukraine. It marked their first in-person meeting since they met in Northern California last November.
Without mentioning Trump’s name, Xi appeared to signal his concern that the incoming president’s protectionist rhetoric on the campaign trail could send the U.S.-China relationship into another valley.
“China is ready to work with a new U.S. administration to maintain communication, expand cooperation and manage differences so as to strive for a steady transition of the China-U.S. relationship for the benefit of the two peoples,” Xi said through an interpreter.

Mr. Biden, meanwhile, spoke in broader brushstrokes about where the relationship has gone and reflected not just on the past four years, but on their long relationship.
“Over the past four years, China-U.S. relations have experienced ups and downs, but with the two of us at the helm, we have also engaged in fruitful dialogues and cooperation, and generally achieved stability,” he said.
Mr. Biden and Xi, with top aides surrounding them, gathered around a long rectangle of tables in an expansive conference room at Lima’s Defines Hotel and Conference Center.
There’s much uncertainty about what ***** ahead in the U.S.-China relationship under Trump, who campaigned promising to levy 60% tariffs on ******** imports.
Bobby Djavaheri, president of Los Angeles-based Yedi Houseware Appliances — which manufactures its products in China — told CBS News in an interview this week that such tariffs “would decimate our business, but not only our business. It would decimate all small businesses that rely on importing.”
Trump has also proposed revoking China’s Most Favored Nation trade status, phasing out all imports of essential goods from China and banning China from buying U.S. farmland.
Already, many ********* companies, including Nike and eyewear retailer Warby Parker, have been diversifying their sourcing away from China. Shoe brand Steve Madden says it plans to cut imports from China by as much as 45% next year.
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Biden administration officials will advise the Trump team that managing the intense competition with Beijing will likely be the most significant foreign policy challenge they will face.
It’s a big moment for Mr. Biden as he wraps up more than 50 years in politics. He saw his relationship with Xi as among the most consequential on the international stage and put much effort into cultivating that relationship.
Mr. Biden and Xi first got to know each other on travels across the U.S. and China when both were vice presidents, interactions that both have said left a lasting impression.
“For over a decade, you and I have spent many hours together, both here and in China and in between. And I think we’ve spent a long time dealing with these issues,” Mr. Biden said Saturday.
But the last four years have presented a steady stream of difficult moments.
The FBI this week offered new details of a federal investigation into ******** government efforts to hack into U.S. telecommunications networks. The initial findings have revealed a “broad and significant” cyberespionage campaign aimed at stealing information from Americans who work in government and politics.
U.S. intelligence officials also have assessed China has surged sales to Russia of machine tools, microelectronics and other technology that Moscow is using to produce missiles, tanks, aircraft and other weaponry for use in its war against Ukraine.
And tensions flared last year after Mr. Biden ordered the ********* down of a ******** spy balloon that traversed the ******* States.

Gyokeres stars for Sweden in Nations League win
Viktor Gyokeres has led Sweden to a 2-1 win over Slovakia while the Netherlands qualified for the Nations League quarter-finals with a 4-0 win over Hungary on Saturday.
Germany also set a single-game scoring record for the relatively new competition – this is its fourth edition – by routing Bosnia and Herzegovina 7-0.
Gyokeres took his nation’s opening goal in the third minute. After Slovakia’s David Hancko levelled in the 19th, the Sporting Lisbon striker set up Aleksander Isak to put Sweden back in front for good in the 31st.
Gyokeres is the ******-leading scorer of the Nations League with five along with Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Slovenia’s Benjamin Sesko. He recently upstaged Erling Haaland by scoring a hat-trick as Sporting beat Manchester City 4-1 in the Champions League.
Sweden are trying to earn promotion from League C to League B. Estonia finished 0-0 at Azerbaijan in the same group.
The Netherlands joined Germany as the two teams from League A, Group 3 to advance to the quarter-finals in March.
The Dutch easily won their game in Amsterdam, which was briefly suspended in the first half for the medical evacuation of Hungary assistant coach Adam Szalai. The Hungarian Football Federation said the former player was in “stable” condition after being taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Wout Weghorst converted a penalty in the 21st and Cody Gapko added a second spot kick in first-half injury time. Denzel Dumfries and Teun Koopmeiners added second-half goals.
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz scored twice, including from a superb free kick, to help fuel the Germans’ demolition of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Forward Tim Kleindienst also got his first two international goals, while Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz and Leroy Sane all added to the lopsided scoreline in Freiburg.
Wales escaped with a scoreless draw from Turkey after the host’s top scorer Kerem Akturkoglu missed an 89th-minute penalty. Akturkoglu, who leads Turkey with four goals in the Nations League, sent his spot kick off the post.
Iceland won at Montenegro 2-0 after late goals by Orri Oskarsson and Isak Bergmann. The loss meant Montenegro will be relegated to League C.
A goal by Georges Mikautadze got Georgia a 1-1 draw at home with Ukraine after an own goal by Solomon Kverkvelia put the visitors ahead.
The Czech Republic missed the chance to earn promotion from League B after drawing at Albania 0-0.
In League D, Virgiliu Postolachi scored in injury time to give Moldova a 1-0 win in Andorra.

Boeing issues layoff notices to 400-plus workers as it begins drastic cuts
Boeing issues layoff notices to 400-plus workers as it begins drastic cuts
SEATTLE (AP) — Boeing has delivered layoff notices to more than 400 members of its professional aerospace labor union, part of thousands of cuts planned as the company struggles to recover from financial and regulatory trouble as well as an eight-week strike by its machinists’ union.
The pink slips went out last week to members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, or SPEEA, The Seattle Times reported. The workers will remain on the payroll through mid-January.
Boeing announced in October that it planned to cut 10% of its workforce, about 17,000 jobs, in the coming months. CEO Kelly Ortberg told employees the company must “reset its workforce levels to align with our financial reality.”
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, or SPEEA, union said the cuts had affected 438 members. The union’s local chapter has 17,000 Boeing employees who are largely based in Washington, with some in Oregon, California and Utah.
Of those 438 workers, 218 are members of SPEEA’s professional unit, which includes engineers and scientists. The rest are members of the technical unit, which includes analysts, planners, technicians and skilled tradespeople.
Eligible employees will receive career transition services and subsidized health care benefits for up to three months. Workers will also receive severance, typically about one week of pay for every year of service.
Boeing’s unionized Machinists began returning to work earlier this month following the strike.
The strike strained Boeing’s finances. But Ortberg said on an October call with analysts that it did not cause the layoffs, which he described as a result of overstaffing.
Boeing, based in Arlington, Virginia, has been in financial and regulatory trouble since a panel blew off the fuselage of an Alaska Airlines plane in January. Production rates slowed to a crawl, and the Federal Aviation Administration capped production of the 737 MAX at 38 planes per month, a threshold Boeing has yet to reach.

‘£1bn boost for buses’ and Italy-style ‘migrant deals’
“£1bn boost for buses” reads the headline in the Sunday Mirror as it reports that Transport Secretary Louise Haigh is to reveal funding pledges for different areas of England when she introduces the government’s Buses Bill on Monday. The move will provide buses that run on time and fewer cuts to at-risk routes, the paper says.
The Sunday Times says ministers are preparing to copy Italy’s model of paying millions to countries in return for them doing more to stop small-boat crossings. The paper says Home Secretary Yvette Cooper is in discussion with a number of governments, including Kurdistan in Iraq, Turkey and Vietnam. Elsewhere, Gladiator director Ridley Scott says he has already started plotting a third instalment of the blockbuster franchise. Paul Mescal, who is pictured on the front page, features in the latest film released earlier this week.
The Observer says there has been a “shocking increase” in the number of vulnerable children subject to deprivation of liberty orders as a result of state intervention. The rise is said to be due to a lack of suitable care places but it has resulted in more youngsters being housed in unregistered or ******** accommodation at “eye-watering costs”, according to a government-backed assessment. Elsewhere, Sir Keir Starmer is pictured speaking at the Welsh Labour conference in Llandudno where he faced ****** farmers protesting over inheritance tax proposals.
“Call that net zero Sir Keir!” says the Mail on Sunday as it reports the *** sent 470 delegates to the COP climate change summit in Azerbaijan. The paper says the “huge delegation” has left “a massive carbon footprint”. Meanwhile, Coleen Rooney is pictured smiling as she talks to the Mail about motherhood, the Wagatha Christie libel case and why she barely sees her ex-footballer husband.
Cheryl Fergison, known for her former role as Heather Trott in EastEnders, is on the front of the Sunday People. It says she has revealed she is so broke she has to use a food bank. “It was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do,” she tells the paper. She hopes opening up about financial hardship will help others.

SpaceX rocket launch doubleheader near NASA, Kennedy Space Center: What time is liftoff?
SpaceX rocket launch doubleheader near NASA, Kennedy Space Center: What time is liftoff?
Not one, but two potential rocket launches are on the horizon — and the Space Coast may get a nice view of them.
SpaceX is targeting Sunday and Monday, Nov. 17 and Nov. 18, to launch an Optus-X satellite and GSAT-20 communications satellite from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Depending on cloud cover, weather and visibility, people in Titusville to Melbourne Beach might see a nice streak in the sky for each launch — particularly since this coastal area of Florida that’s home to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
If you’re keeping watch, Florida Space Coast’s has already broken the record of orbital rocket launches in a year, with the bulk of the 2024 missions from SpaceX. In 2023, SpaceX also helped break the record of rocket launches per year — contributing to the 72 launches that were completed near Cape Canaveral. As of Friday, Nov. 15, there have been 79 orbital rocket launches from the Space Coast in 2024.
Below are suggestions on where to watch the rocket launch from this area and other things to know. If there are changes to the launch schedule, this story will be updated.
For questions or comments, email FLORIDA TODAY Space Reporter Rick Neale at *****@*****.tld. For more space news from the USA TODAY Network, visit floridatoday.com/space.
Where can I see a rocket launch in Florida?
Weather permitting and depending on cloud cover, the SpaceX rocket launch should be visible from almost anywhere in Brevard County. And minutes after liftoff, there’s typically a rumble. Night launches, in particular, are easier to spot and beautiful to see.
When there’s a launch window in the middle of the night or very early morning, there’s an opportunity for unique photos — the rocket lights up the dark sky and the contrail after makes for a great photo.
Is there a rocket launch today? Upcoming SpaceX, NASA rocket launch schedule from Florida

Space Coast weather radar: Will it rain in Melbourne, Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral, Florida, today?
Shown is the National Weather Service-Melbourne radar, which shows conditions in real-time for the Space Coast and other parts of Florida. The current date and time show up on the bottom right of this radar embed; otherwise, you may need to clear your cache.
Pretty much anywhere in Brevard, you’ll get a view of the rocket launch − in certain areas, you can get an amazing view of SpaceX rocket boosters returning to the pads. The best view to watch a rocket launch from the Space Coast is along the beach. However, visibility will depend on weather conditions and people should make sure not to block traffic or rights of way on bridges and to follow posted rules at beaches.
If you are viewing the launch along the Indian River in Titusville from Space View Park or Parrish Park, look east directly across the river.
If you are farther south along the Indian River, look northeast.
Playalinda Beach or Canaveral National Seashore is the closest spot to view liftoff because it is almost parallel to Launch Pad 39A. On the beach, look south along the coastline, (you can even see the pad from some spots).

Why is my fertility more important than my endometriosis pain?
Why is my fertility more important than my endometriosis pain?
Emily Griffiths
Emily Griffiths is considering a hysterectomy to potentially ease some of her symptoms, but says doctors are unwilling to discuss it as she does not have children
Emily Griffiths wants to have an operation to remove her womb, known as a hysterectomy.
At 26, with no children, she knows it is a big step. But endometriosis and adenomyosis have left her housebound, in debilitating pain, and unable to see a future as a mum.
Right now, she simply dreams of being able to go for a walk unaided. But she says she has been unable to find a clinician who will discuss the procedure because of her age.
“Doctors are too busy planning ahead for the child I might want in the future and can’t see where I am right now,” said Emily, from Carmarthenshire.
Emily’s symptoms started when she was 12, with periods so painful and heavy that she missed school and became anaemic.
She said GPs told her the pain was normal.
“They would say it was all in my head and I was just trying to be off school,” she said.
Emily was diagnosed with endometriosis aged 21, after collapsing with sepsis.
She was referred to a specialist centre in Cardiff, but said the wait was so long that her family self-funded private surgery.
Emily, who has been unable to see an NHS specialist, said she had lost count of the private clinicians she had seen and felt there was “zero support” from the health service.
Emily Griffiths
Emily says she has been going through the menopause with her mum, but few others her own age understand its effects
A hysterectomy would leave Emily infertile and prompt the menopause, which in turn could increase her risk of osteoporosis, heart ******** and dementia.
Yet for the past three years she has been given a monthly injection to chemically induce menopause, pausing her periods in an effort to alleviate her symptoms.
Scans show that has caused her bone density to deteriorate.
“A hysterectomy isn’t a cure for endometriosis, but it is for adenomyosis,” she said, adding she was 23 when she received that additional diagnosis.
“Even though it’s a big step, I could have the possibility of maybe going for a little walk when I’m really struggling… but at the moment I’m stuck in a very dark place.”
What is a hysterectomy?
A hysterectomy is a major operation with a long recovery time which is only considered following less invasive treatments.
It is carried out to treat health problems affecting the female reproductive system.
A total hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the womb and cervix.
In some cases the fallopian tubes, ovaries, lymph glands, and part of the *******, can also be removed.
What are endometriosis and adenomyosis?
Adenomyosis is a condition where the lining of the womb starts growing into the muscle in the wall of the womb.
It can cause painful periods and heavy bleeding, as well as pelvic pain, bloating and pain during ****.
Endometriosis is where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb grow in other parts of the body.
Symptoms happen when those patches break down and bleed but cannot leave your body.
Emily Griffiths
Emily says she’s had to go private for all of her endometriosis treatment, as specialist centres in Wales are either not accepting or prioritising ‘out of area’ patients
Endometriosis is currently widespread across both of Emily’s ovaries as well as her *******, bladder and part of her bowel.
Her menopausal symptoms have also been severe, but hormone replacement therapy (HRT) makes her endometriosis worse.
Because of the complexities of her case, Emily would need an endometriosis specialist to carry out the hysterectomy as it would also involve excision of the endometriosis.
A hysterectomy is listed as one of a number of treatment options by NICE for endometriosis and adenomyosis.
Endometriosis *** said a hysterectomy could not guarantee total loss of pain and symptoms, but “it’s important to remember that the final choice is yours – it is your body”.
Emily said that sentiment was at odds with her own experience.
‘Told I’m too young’
“I don’t really think that women do have the freedom to make a choice over their own bodies,” she said.
“I’ve been told that if I settle down ‘you may want to have a child with your husband’ – it’s just planning ahead and not seeing where I am right now.
“Basically fertility has been put way above any of my illnesses and what I’m going through.”
Emily said she had been advised to stay in a chemically-induced menopause, try the contraceptive pill or anti-depressants, along with “running, pilates or yoga”.
“I can’t walk without support, so to tell me about pilates or running is not the nicest comment,” she said.
Emily Griffiths
Emily has received letters from both the Princess of Wales and the King, in recognition of the work she has done to raise awareness of chronic conditions and disabilities
Emily’s work to raise awareness of the issues she faces has earned her recognition from the King and the Princess of Wales.
“I’ve had some really amazing opportunities… and that’s what’s keeping me holding on to some sort of hope,” she said.
There are currently two accredited NHS endometriosis centres in Wales, in Swansea and Cardiff.
The centre in Swansea does not currently accept patients from outside the health board area, while Cardiff said it considers outside referrals “where appropriate”.
Every health board has endometriosis nurses to support patients, but Emily, who lives in the Hywel Dda health board region, said lengthy waits meant she had little option but to seek private care.
“There’s been two privately funded surgeries so far, with possibly another one coming,” said Emily.
Follow-up care and advice also comes at a cost.
“No one on the NHS will monitor me currently, so it does become a never ending cycle of funding and finding the right person,” she said.
“If you have a question, maybe a certain medication they’ve prescribed isn’t agreeing with me, it always comes at a cost, you can’t simply ring them and find out.
“I understand that’s the route you take when you have private care, but if the NHS aren’t there to help either, then there’s no choice.”
Sioned Williams, Plaid Cymru’s spokesperson for social justice and equalities, was made aware of Emily’s case after she raised it with her local Member of the Senedd (MS).
“The Welsh government has been too slow in delivering their women’s health plan,” Ms Williams said.
“People with endometriosis such as Emily just want to be heard and believed and this should not be too much to ask.”
Sam Rowlands, the Welsh ************* health spokesperson said: “The Welsh Conservatives would immediately scrap the restrictive NHS guidance that locks patients in their local area, blocking cross-community and cross-border working, to make use of extra capacity to reduce excessive NHS waits in the short term and look to enact a substantial workforce plan to tackle the more deep-seated issues in the longer term.”
A Welsh government spokesperson said it had made women’s health “a key priority” and would publish a 10-year women’s health plan in December.
“The Women’s Health Network, led by the first ever clinical lead for women’s health in Wales, has been established to deliver improvements including in endometriosis care, treatment and support,” they said.
“Health boards are responsible for delivering services and we have funded dedicated endometriosis nurses within each health board.”

APEC leaders unite to call for ‘predictable’ trade ahead of Trump presidency, as Gaza split continues
APEC leaders unite to call for ‘predictable’ trade ahead of Trump presidency, as Gaza split continues
Asia-Pacific leaders have ******* to call for “free and predictable trade” as Donald Trump’s tariff shake-up looms, but were unable to reach consensus on Ukraine and Gaza for the second year in a row.
At the end of the two-day Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Lima, the 21 Asia-Pacific economic leaders stood ******* for the family photo, decked out in vicuña scarves. But for the second year in a row could not agree on whether the two conflicts should be discussed at the economic and trade forum.
Anthony Albanese and other like-minded leaders argued the conflicts “could be treated” at the forum because they were having tangible economic impacts, but others argued APEC was not the right forum to discuss geopolitical issues.
The forums chair, Peruvian president Dina Boluarte, urged all economies to recommit to an effort of cooperation.
“Recalling APEC ́s foundational principles, the Chair urged economies to uplift their commitment to the strengthening of APEC as an effective cooperation platform, based on consensus as its most important tool,” she said in a statement.
The conflicts are also expected to be discussed at the G20, which begins in Brazil on Monday.

Meanwhile, APEC leaders stood ******* on free trade, reaffirming their support for the “rules-based multilateral trading system”, and called for “predictability” as uncertainty surrounds the global economic status quo given the incoming second Trump administration.
While they used the same terminology in the 2023 statement, the messaging is poignant this year given Mr Trump has vowed to impose tariffs of up to 20 per cent on foreign imports and slug ******** goods with up to 60 per cent.
Such an aggressive agenda would likely trigger a US-China trade war.
“We acknowledge the importance of, and will continue to work to deliver a free, open, fair, non-discriminatory, transparent, inclusive and predictable trade and investment environment,” the ****** statement said.
“We reaffirm our support for the rules-based multilateral trading system, with the WTO at its core, and remain committed to working toward necessary WTO reform, in order to improve all of its functions.”
Mr Albanese said his task at APEC had been to “ensure that *********** jobs are protected” and “promote free and fair trade” – a message he would continue at G20.
The ****** APEC statement came ahead of ******** President Xi Jinping meeting with outgoing US president Joe Biden on Saturday afternoon (local time).
Mr Albanese is hoping to meet with Mr Xi on the G20 sidelines.
If the meeting eventuates, it will come after China nominated Mr Albanese as a role model for other US allies as they prepare to balance relations with Beijing and the second Trump Administration.
Beijing, through the China Daily, said Mr Albanese had showed “strategic autonomy” amid “unprecedented geopolitical complexity and uncertainty” following Mr Trump’s election.
Mr Albanese on Friday (local time) said he didn’t “subscribe to China Daily”.
“What I’ve done with China is work in the way that we said we would before the election. We said we would cooperate where we can and we would disagree where we must and we would engage in our national interests. I’d done that without compromising any of Australia’s national interests,” Mr Albanese said.
“We have not changed our position on any of the key differences that we have. We’ve said both privately and publicly the same things.”

3 Trucks To Avoid Buying in 2025
3 Trucks To Avoid Buying in 2025
You can’t beat a truck when it comes to functionality and versatility. From day-to-day use to towing a boat or camper to tailgating before the big game, trucks can do it all. Plus, they always come in handy when moving. But not all trucks are created equally.
The average car costs around $900 a year to maintain, per Consumer Affairs, but some could put a ******* dent in your budget due to frequent repairs. Shelling out more than you want to or can afford is already bad enough, but a lemon of a truck that racks up additional costs will only cause a great financial hit.
Explore More: 7 SUVs To Avoid Buying in 2025
Try This: 9 Things You Must Do To Grow Your Wealth in 2024
For those who are in the market for a 2025 vehicle and want to get the most bang for your buck, here are three trucks to avoid, according to experts.
Trending Now: Suze Orman’s Secret to a Wealthy Retirement–Have You Made This Money Move?
Not much has changed for the 2025 Honda Ridgeline. The midsize truck maintains its smooth ride, comfortable interior and easy handling, per Edmunds, but it doesn’t offer impressive towing or off-roading capabilities. It also falls short with its 21 mpg fuel economy and overall value for the sticker price.
The Honda Ridgeline is ideal for consumers who don’t need to haul and are happy with a truck that drives more like an SUV, but it’s not for everyone.
“Despite its solid performance, the Honda Ridgeline is on the verge of being discontinued due to declining sales, especially with the rise of competitors like the Ford Maverick,” Rob Dillan, automotive expert and founder of EVhype, explained to GOBankingRates. “This could impact parts availability and resale value.”
Be Aware: Mechanics Explain Why You Should Never Buy These 6 Popular Car Brands
The 2025 Nissan Frontier has a few new things to look forward to, like more driver-assist safety features and comfortable seats, but according to MotorTrend, there are no mechanical upgrades, which is concerning since previous models struggled with loud engines and terrible fuel economy.
In addition, the Nissan Frontier faces stiff competition from the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz, which could be better options depending on consumers’ needs.
“The Nissan Frontier relies on older battery technology and offers limited range compared to newer competitors,” Dillan said. “Its aging design and technology may not appeal to consumers looking for modern features.”
Big improvements have been made to the 2025 Ram 1500, including a pair of straight-six turbo engines instead of a V8 and upgraded technology and interior, per Edmunds, but things are off to a shaky start. There have been reports of serious safety issues, resulting in a recall.
Story Continues
“Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling approximately 33,777 Ram 1500 pickup trucks in the U.S. due to concerns with damaged front wheel bearing encoder rings that may affect and disable the electronic stability control system,” Dillan said.
Maintenance and repairs will cost $18,469 during the first 10 years of service, per CarEdge, which is $8,364 more than the industry average. However, Dillan warned that buying a new model could cost even more. “The issue could pose safety risks and lead to potential repair costs,” he said.
While the 2025 Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Frontier and Ram 1500 have positive aspects, experts and reviews cautioned that they could cause years of financial woes and regret.

England 20-29 South *******: Groundhog-day defeats keep stacking up
England 20-29 South *******: Groundhog-day defeats keep stacking up
Jack van Poortvliet has been here before.
Two years ago, as England’s scrum-half huddled up under the posts, his face flashed up on Twickenham’s big screens.
New Zealand flanker Dalton Papali’i had just picked off his pass and cantered in to give New Zealand a seven-point head start.
This time around it was a kick. Eben Etzebeth, looming like a skyscraper, had charged down Van Poortvliet to give South ******* a freebie try and puncture England’s promising start.
It will have felt like all his fault. It wasn’t.
England’s forwards left him unprotected and vulnerable. Marcus Smith, his fly-half, had his own chance to clear and similarly found a South ******** torso.
And, ultimately, the errors added up.
For all England’s unquestionable courage and energy, they have continually been undermined by mistakes this autumn. The foundations of a promising team always seem to be subsiding under their own slip-ups.
They have come in all different matches, in all different guises, from all areas of the team.
Against New Zealand, the crossed wires and fumbled drop-goal routine between Harry Randall and George Ford was most obvious.
Against Australia, England’s ******** to secure a kick-off – Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii disrupting Maro Itoje – on the last play was key. But so was a botched midfield move that gave Andrew Kellaway a walk-in.
Against South *******, Ben Earl missed a vital tackle on Damian de Allende, before England’s faint hopes of crowbarring their way to a comeback were dashed by Luke Cowan-Dickie’s twitchy line-out throw and Itoje picking, not going and being caught at the back of a promising breakdown.
Those are individual moments, perhaps the most glaring ones. But you could pick plenty more.
After three straight home defeats for the first time since 2006, the spotlight certainly shouldn’t shine on Van Poortvliet alone.
It must also extend to the sidelines to take in selections and systems.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese drops big election hint amid speculation of clash with WA poll
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese drops big election hint amid speculation of clash with WA poll
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has seemingly let slip when the next Federal election might be as he plays down the prospect of forcing WA to shift its state vote.
Premier Roger Cook’s revelation at The West ***********’s Leadership Matters forum that he sought legal advice about shifting WA’s fixed election date ignited speculation Mr Albanese was plotting an early national poll.
Mr Albanese last week denied asking Mr Cook to shift the WA election but admitted the pair had spoken about the State election.
Asked directly on Sunday to rule out a March Federal election, Mr Albanese told Sky News the speculation was a “completely nothing story”.
“He (Mr Cook) has said that his election is on March 8,” Mr Albanese said.
“And I talked to state leaders sometimes about the dates in which they have elections set. It is as simple as that.”
The Prime Minister said there would be a Federal budget in March and the election “will be in May”, as is scheduled.
Mr Albanese quickly walked back the comment, saying “it could be beforehand”.
The prospect of WA being forced to shift its election date to accommodate Mr Albanese promoted a fierce backlash, with State Opposition leader Shane Love claiming it showed the Prime Minister “doesn’t give a stuff about Western Australia”.
As the election speculation rumbles on, Labor will this week roll out a new ad attacking Peter Dutton for opposing cost-of-living relief during this term.
The ad claims the average household would have been $7600 worse-off had Mr Dutton been in power.
The figure is based on data that shows the annual pre-tax pay for two average full-time workers is $7300 dollar higher than it would have been had wages grown at the rate of the previous Coalition Government.
“Peter Dutton as PM doesn’t add up for working people,” Employment Minister Murray Watt said.

After Whoopi Goldberg criticizes NYC bakery, customers pour in
After Whoopi Goldberg criticizes NYC bakery, customers pour in
GREAT ******, Staten Island (PIX11) — Whoopi Goldberg claimed that a historic bakery on Staten Island wouldn’t fill a dessert request that she’d made because the business didn’t like her politics.
The owner of the bakery, Holtermann’s, said that a major maintenance issue at the business had prevented it from filling any large orders, like Goldberg’s, at that time. Now, people from across Staten Island and way beyond have stepped up to show support for Holtermann’s, and, they said, to send a message of disapproval to Goldberg.
More Local News
The comedienne, actress and host of the talk show “The View” sparked controversy on the show on Wednesday when she showcased a large tray of what Goldberg called her mother’s favorite dessert. It’s called Charlotte Russe. It’s a small, individual piece of cake with raspberry curd, wrapped in decorative paper, and topped with whipped cream with a maraschino cherry on top.
“The place that made these refused to make them for me,” Goldberg said during a segment on “The View” on Wednesday. “[My] folks went and got them anyway,” Goldberg continued, “which is why I’m not telling you who made them,” she said. “Perhaps they did not like my politics.”
She said during the segment that a large order for the treats had been placed in her name but was turned down. Even though Goldberg didn’t name the bakery, its unique packaging identified the source as Holtermann’s, and word about Goldberg’s displeasure quickly spread. By Friday, there was a long line outside of the bakery on Arthur ***** Road well before it opened at 7:30 a.m. Long lines remained throughout the day until closing time at 6 p.m.
The business almost completely sold out of its stock. Its staff baked non-stop, all day.
Holtermann’s has been baking on Staten Island for 146 years. Its many devoted customers call it an institution.
“I’ll be 82 in January,” said Penny Clark, who’d come to buy coffee cake. “As a little girl,” she continued, “my birthday cakes came from here, holiday cakes came from here. I’ve never stepped away.”
Pops and Poosh: Mom runs kitchen at Haitian eatery on Long Island
Thomas and Elizabeth Barnes are also regular customers, but they’d never tried the Charlotte Russe “until now,” Elizabeth said.
“The bakery didn’t do anything wrong,” her husband Thomas added, “and we’re here to support them. If it helps them get some extra business, then good for them.”
Bakery owner Jill Holtermann Bowers said that when Goldberg’s order came in early this month, the bakery’s boiler was being replaced. As a result, said the owner, she couldn’t promise to fill any big orders.
“The boiler was from like there to there,” said Holtermann Bowers, pointing to two theoretical points about 12 feet apart. “It took five guys to cut it up, remove it, and then you have to change all the piping.”
It was a very large undertaking, the owner said. She was invited by Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella to join him and other local elected officials in a news conference in front of the bakery early on Friday afternoon to show support for the bakery, and to condemn Goldberg’s comments.
The news conference lasted about a half hour, but all day, from open to close, there was a non-stop, long line.
The reaction, said Holterman Bowers, was the unexpected result of an unexpected situation.
“We didn’t know what was going on until somebody called us from Ohio” on Thursday, the bakery owner explained in an interview, “and he said, ‘Y’know, there’s this thing with Whoopi Goldberg and the Charlotte Russe cups,” she said, “and I didn’t know what he was talking about.”
That was the first of many, many calls to the business, which helped the owner and her employees quickly learn about what had happened.
“We figured it out, and I’m happy for the business, happy for the support,” said Holtermann Bowers. “We give to Staten Island all the time, volunteering, doing everything else,” she continued, “so I’m so happy seeing everybody coming out to support us.”
Near the close of business, she said that Friday’s sales figures were at least as strong as they are on her busiest Thanksgiving and Christmas bake ***** days. Customers had left her shelves nearly bare, and, the owner said, she and her staff had taken dozens of orders from other parts of the country for shipping.
PIX11 News reached out to “The View” for comment. Goldberg and the show declined through a spokesperson.

Trump selects Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright as secretary of Energy
Trump selects Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright as secretary of Energy
President-elect Donald Trump has selected Chris Wright, a campaign donor and fossil fuel executive, to serve as energy secretary in his upcoming, second administration.
CEO of Denver-based Liberty Energy, Wright is a vocal advocate of oil and gas development, including fracking, a key pillar of Trump’s quest to achieve U.S. “energy dominance” in the global market.
Trump also said in a statement Saturday that Wright will serve on the newly-created National Energy Council, which will be chaired by North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Trump’s selection for secretary of the Interior.
Burgum will oversee a panel that crosses all executive branch agencies involved in energy permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation and transportation, Trump said in a previous statement.
Wright has been one of the industry’s loudest voices against efforts to ****** climate change and could give fossil fuels a boost, including quick action to end a year-long pause on natural gas export approvals by the Biden administration.
Wright also has criticized what he calls a “top-down” approach to climate by ******** and left-wing groups and said the climate movement around the world is “collapsing under its own weight.”
Consideration of Wright to head the administration’s energy department won support from influential conservatives, including oil and gas tycoon Harold Hamm.
Hamm, executive chairman of Oklahoma-based Continental Resources, a major shale oil company, is a longtime Trump supporter and adviser who played a key role on energy issues in Trump’s first term.
Hamm helped organize an event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in April where Trump reportedly asked industry leaders and lobbyists to donate $1 billion to Trump’s campaign, with the expectation that Trump would curtail environmental regulations if re-elected.
The Energy Department is responsible for advancing energy, environmental and nuclear security of the ******* States. The agency is in charge of maintaining the country’s nuclear weapons, oversees 17 national research laboratories and approves natural gas exports, as well as ensuring environmental cleanup of the nation’s nuclear weapons complex. It also promotes scientific and technological research.
*********** Sen. John Barrasso, who is expected to become chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said Trump promised bold choices for his Cabinet, and Wright’s nomination delivers.
“He’s s an energy innovator who ***** the foundation for America’s fracking *****. After four years of America last energy policy, our country is desperate for a secretary (of energy) who understands how important ********* energy is to our economy and our national security,″ Barrasso said of Wright, adding: “Wright will help ensure America ******** committed to an all-of-the-above energy policy that puts ********* families first.”
Thomas Pyle, president of the ********* Energy Alliance, a ************* group that supports fossil fuels, said Wright would be “an excellent choice” for Energy secretary. Pyle led Trump’s Energy Department’s transition team in 2016.
Liberty is a major energy industry service provider, with a focus on technology. Wright, who grew up in Colorado, earned undergraduate degree at MIT and did graduate work in electrical engineering at the University of California-Berkeley and MIT. In 1992, he founded Pinnacle Technologies, which helped launch commercial shale gas production through hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.
He later served as chairman of Stroud Energy, an early shale gas producer, before founding Liberty Resources in 2010.

Japan to join US marines on rotations in the NT
********* troops will join US Marine rotations in the Northern Territory, as the three nations deepen defence ties in a bid to counter China’s military strength.
Acting Prime Minister Richard Marles will on Sunday host US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and ********* Defence Minister Nakatani Gen for the trilateral ministers’ meeting in Darwin – the first to be held in Australia.
Mr Marles, who is also the defence minister, said following annual “2+2” talks with his ********* counterpart in September, both nations looked to how they could build greater familiarity between the their defence forces.
One of the “obvious opportunities” was for Japan to participate in activities during the US Marine rotation.
“We have spoken to Japan about having their amphibious rapid deployment brigade doing training with our own defence force, with our own army, and with the US Marines,” Mr Marles told Sky News.
“Having a more forward-leaning opportunity for greater training with Japan and the US together is a really fantastic opportunity.”
China’s expanding military capability has alarmed Washington and countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
Asked if the increased military co-operation would anger Beijing, Mr Marles said the decision was about building the nation’s capability.
“What we are focused on … is building the best relationships possible with like-minded countries, with our friends and with our allies,” he said.
“Japan is obviously a country with whom we share values, a democracy.
“We have a huge strategic alignment with Japan. This very much came out of our bilateral meeting in September, but it’s been a theme of the conversations we’ve been having with Japan now for a number of years.”
Asked what message he would send to US president-elect Donald Trump’s pick for US defense secretary Pete Hegseth, Mr Marles said it would be that ********* leadership matters.
“If there is a world which is only determined by power and might, that does doesn’t leave a lot of space for most countries in the world, and countries like Australia,” he said.

SILVERHILL, Ala. (WKRG) — The big question in Baldwin County this week — what is the mystery substance appearing on people’s cars? While we don’t know exactly what it is, we’re getting a better idea of what ties all of the incidents together.

“I thought it was maybe some mud, but it’s gotten progressively darker,” Perri Farlow, a Silverhill resident said. “Now it’s just this dark, yellow, hardened substance all over my car.”
The most successful way to remove the substance is to take the vehicle to a detailing shop and let the professionals do the work, and getting it off can come with a hefty price tag.
“The initial cost to get this stuff off my truck, I was floored, several thousand dollars,” John Lankford, a Summerdale resident said. “It’s very frustrating that, you know, I have to spend my hard earned dollar and my family’s hard earned dollars to, you know, have my truck repaired.”
Although they said they’re looking into it to determine the best steps to work towards a solution, the mystery substance is even leaving county and state officials with questions.

“Members of our agency of coordinated with several of our partners, especially in Silverhill and Robertsdale, with their *****, police and public works, as well as our own county departments, the Highway department and then Alabama Department of Transportation,” the Director of the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency Tom Tyler said. “There seems to be an equal misunderstanding about what the substance may be or what its origins may be.”
But there seems to be one common thread, the people we’ve spoken with all said they drove down State Route 104 through Silverhill last Wednesday. Some decided to take matters into their own hands doing their own research to learn more about the substance.
“We are getting lab results from this chemical off of several different vehicles, not just one, not just two, several different vehicles,” Lankford said. “We’re sending the substance off the labs and we’re having it tested.”
He said they’re hoping when the results are back they’ll be able to get a better idea of how exactly it got on their cars.
“I’ve got three kids in school. I don’t know when I would have time to go take care of this,” Farlow said. “I was in the market for a new car and now, I don’t know how I’m going to sell this if I don’t get it taken care of.”
The Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency said there are no indications or evidence that the substance would pose any health hazard. As of Friday afternoon, they have not received any reports of anything of this nature pertaining to the substance.

“We’re all in this together, so if we can find a solution, we’d love to communicate that with the public, especially if there’s any kind of mitigating factors that could assist people who have been impacted by this,” Tyler said. “But right now, we don’t have any of those kind of answers.”
