MSP cuts costs with Scality pay-as-you-go anti-ransomware storage
MSP cuts costs with Scality pay-as-you-go anti-ransomware storage
London-based managed service provider (MSP) Autodata Products has opted for Scality Artesca object storage through its Scality cloud service provider (SCSP) pay-as-you-go purchasing option, which it uses to supply on-premise backup against ransomware for customers.
Benefits of the SCSP licensing model include being able to offer customers highly scalable backup with short recovery time objectives (RTOs) and at the same cost per terabyte (TB) whether it’s for 25TB or 2.5PB (petabytes).
Autodata Products provides IT solutions focused on backup, storage and security via its Cloudlake offer, predominantly based on Wasabi cloud, Veeam backup and Scality storage. It has around 500 customers on rolling monthly contracts and has offices in the US and the Netherlands.
Within its core offer it has Cloudlake Ransomware Recovery Vault (RRV), and it is here that it decided to offer services using Scality Artesca and SCSP. It was already a customer of Veeam’s pay-as-you-go programme.
RRV is based around the provision of on-site immutable storage for customers. Here, Autodata deploys Scality Artesca object storage as a backup target and pays only for what is used by its customers.
Scality launched version 2.0 of its Artesca platform in 2023, and built in a big emphasis on the ransomware protection inherent to object storage. Artesca is Scality’s object storage product aimed at single application use cases and is heavily targeted at data protection.
According to head of datacentre and cloud services Ant Bucknor, Autodata recommends customers keep a workable amount of critical data on-site so they can restore very quickly should a ransomware attack or other outage occur.
He said: “Our clients were restoring their data from the cloud. But that would often break their RTO policy because of the length of time it would take to get everything back up and running, then they would connect to the cloud location and then it would take them longer to bring the data back.”
So, how much data does Autodata recommend customers store on-site?
“I would suggest probably the last 30 days,” said Bucknor. “That would be my base guide, but obviously every client’s different. We’ve got clients where they have data they need to recover quickly from the last six months and others where if it’s over 48 hours old the data is completely worthless.
“The cloud will provide you with a full copy, and it will be immutable. But it isn’t necessarily going to be quick enough.”
Key to the benefits for Autodata are that it can supply ransomware recovery solutions that would have been out of reach of SME and mid-market customers previously, and that as it buys more product from Scality prices should decrease.
Bucknor said: “Traditionally, these solutions were in the hundreds of thousands of pounds. Whereas, because of the flexibility we have with Scality, we now have solutions that are suitable for SMB, mid-market, education, local government, etc, whereas these solutions just wouldn’t have been accessible to that market before.
“There’s a benefit from a profitability at scale point of view, as in the more of these we do over time, the ******* the benefit there is to Autodata as a business, with a knock-on effect in the better commercial terms for our customers.”
Pay-as-you-go is relatively new in storage purchasing, but it’s a rising trend. HPE offers pay-as-you-go storage as part of its Greenlake offer that stretches across its IT portfolio. NetApp, meanwhile, offers Keystone storage as-a-service, while Pure Storage has its Evergreen storage programmes.
“Pay-as-you-go is the future,” said Bucknor. “The reason is, people want to have a cloud-like purchasing model where they can buy what they want for as long as they want it, and when they don’t want it any more, they can stop paying for it. They want to know what their costs are. Not have bought something over five years and suddenly they want to buy an extra few terabytes of data and it’s three times the price because they’re locked in. People want a more flexible solution.”

Peter Somssich: Candidate for vice chair Portsmouth Democratic Committee
Feb, 13 — To the Editor:
The Portsmouth Democrats will hold an election caucus on Feb. 20, 6:30 p.m. by Zoom to elect the officers of the committee for the next two years. I am running for the position of vice-chair because I want to reactivate our committee and engage with our Portsmouth community. This is especially needed after the election of Donald Trump. We need to put up resistance against policies that attack our American values, but also just because he won the election, we cannot let the new President ***** the joy and fun out of our own lives.
I have political experience with Democratic committees in both a Republican town and a Democratic city. I moved to Portsmouth 25 years ago from Amherst (NH), where I served 4 years as party chair. After moving to Portsmouth, I served on the Democratic committee, including 4 years as its chair and served as State Representative for 6 years. Because the current committee was not organizing any significant events in 2024 (an election year), I joined with 5 others to form the Portsmouth Democratic Outreach Committee and helped to organize 4 events in addition to the monthly Democratic Roundtable and “Coffee and Dems” gatherings. We will need that kind of energy in our committee during the next 2 years.
If you are a registered Democratic voter in Portsmouth, you can register to vote and/or run for office by sending an email to: *****@*****.tld .
If you have questions please contact me: tel. 603-436-5382 or *****@*****.tld

The world sees our hypocrisy
Feb. 13 − To the Editor:
Trump says he is going to “acquire” Gaza. Not buy Gaza but acquire it (either idea is criminal regardless) because it is a demolition site. Why is it a demolition site? Because Biden sent every weapon imaginable—short of a nuclear bomb—to destroy Gaza and kill as many ************ children and civilians as possible without any serious stipulations on use of those weapons.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking these Presidents are different when it comes to caring about human rights. Don’t think that most of our Congressional representatives are proponents of human rights as the vast majority said little when it came to stopping a genocide or acknowledging that Israel is an apartheid state. How many of these “leaders” are speaking up re the Israeli oppression, *******, land grabbing and imprisonment (hostage taking really) of Palestinians that is occurring in the West Bank daily? How many of you are even paying attention? You care about America? Maybe start by caring about other people in the world. Maybe care that our taxpayer dollars are being used to continue oppression. The world sees our hypocrisy. Harris lost in large part because people saw through her hypocrisy as well.

Let your voice be heard in Concord
Feb. 17 − To the Editor:
Let your VOICE be Heard in Concord!
Are you saturated with national news? Local government is important too! Our NH legislators are in their committees right now and are working on LOTS of bills that affect our communities. YOU can have a VOICE in these bills by attending in person OR using an online testimony tool to submit your opposition or your support. Be assured, there is no shortage of bills that you might be interested in. Here’s an important one to practice on right now!
HB 714, passage would ensure NH primaries provide voters access to all candidates regardless of party affiliation. All candidates would be listed on ONE inclusive primary ballot. The top 2 then advance to the general election. This system gives voters more choice, winners have a broader support of the electorate, and it would serve to reduce polarization. This bill is the result of a new Citizens Assembly think tank and lots of research, kudos to them! A single ballot primary would be hugely significant as NH is first in the nation to vote and we want our voice heard across the nation.
Can’t attend on the hearing date? Go remotely with this link! [Hidden Content] Here’s info you need: HB 714, House Election Law Committee, Feb 18 at 1pm. I encourage you to use this tool – you’ll love how easy it is and YOUR VOICE WILL BE HEARD Testimonies are accepted all day. Our legislators are elected to respond to what you want … let’s get ON IT!

We the people are the only defense
Feb. 13 − To the Editor:
Please wake up America! To the Republicans who voted for Trump while not believing he would do what he said he would do – were you fooled? Did you believe all the lies? Are you what I call willfully ignorant? You don’t want to know the truth? And to the Democrats – are you really paying attention? Are you reading beyond the legacy media? Do you realize how intimidated the legacy media is and continues to be?
Congress has bowed to the dictator – given up all its rights set forth in the Constitution, and is no longer functioning. This is an internal Coup – plan and simple. The president has NO right to abolish agencies contracted by Congress thru the normal process of governing. Again and again, laws are being broken and no action or even speaking out is going on by your elected representatives of both parties (with a very few late exceptions).
The Treasury is now controlled by Musk’s “muskrats” as they call themselves. These are kids who think code controls the world and they control code. They have handles like “Bad ****” and are encamped in the Treasury office gleefully rewriting the systems that dispense YOUR tax dollars. ******* research? No. Any health related research? No.FEMA help for disasters? Not any more. Free press? Nope – they have bowed to the dictator. The latest is cancelling the AP from the White House because they used the proper name – Gulf of Mexico. They are now going after NPR and PBS who have maintained some independence. For how long?
So far, Trump and Musk have ignored every single judicial order given by the courts. Even the American Bar has called this out – it’s the death knell of the rule of law. It’s one more fact that sustains the Coup.
So now having obliterated Congress, Justice and the rule of law at all levels, plus decimated the “4th Estate”, and taken over the Treasury, there is nothing but the army to stop them. And look who heads the Pentagon.
Add it all up – please! We are living in a coup – the ******** takeover of our government. This is not business as usual. This the most lawless administration in all history.
And did you notice who was the speaker at the press conference in the Oval Office? Not the President. Or not the elected President who was silent. Yes – you got it. The mastermind of the takeover. The one whose minions are shutting down everything we depend on for our health and our economic well being.
We need to speak out and speak truth – now. Check out everything in this letter for yourself. It’s all out there and more. We the people are the only defense – and we need to wake up and take action. NOW!
Linda Cunningham

HOOD 1Y mountain Robinhood shares over the last 12 months The company recently reported more than $1 billion in quarterly revenue during the fourth quarter , with the yearly total coming in at a record-breaking $3 billion. Robinhood saw a jump in trading following President Donald Trump’s victory in November on hopes for a more friendly regulatory stance toward cryptocurrencies, in addition to corporate deregulation that drove equities higher. 41-Year-Old Who Escaped 9-To-5, Became Rich Through Stocks Shares Portfolio – ‘The Best Thing in Life is Freedom’
Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below.
Investing in the stock market remains one of the most efficient ways to get rich over the long term. A TD Asset Management report showed a hypothetical portfolio of $10,000 invested in the broader market at the end of 1991 would have grown to $60,000 by the close of 2021. However, just missing 1% of the best market days slashes the final portfolio value to $3,750.
About six months ago, someone asked investors on r/Stocks — a Reddit community with more than 8 million followers — whether anyone in the community actually got rich just by equities investing. The question drew over 800 responses, with many investors sharing interesting success stories and advice.
Don’t Miss:
An investor said stock investing significantly added to his wealth over a ******* of two decades. However, he, 41, advised young investors to first work to increase their earning potential and then use the stock market to compound wealth.
“Investing is slow. It is a much better investment to hone a very good career or learn skills that are marketable and open a business or get a really good job. My portfolio could sustain a simpler lifestyle now (roughly 100k a year in dividends) but lifestyle creep is real and I do enjoy some of the finer things. So I will work and continue to let it compound for another 10 – 15 years. But the joy is having options, I made the choice to keep working and I have the option to not to if I want to make some changes. The best thing you can have in life is freedom, idle time is not my goal,” he said.
Trending: Warren Buffett once said, “If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.” Here’s how you can earn passive income with just $100.
The investor, who left his regular job to start a business years ago, said at one point he liquidated all his holdings but piled into the market again when it crashed in 2008. That’s when his wealth began to compound.
“2008 hit. Surprisingly the business was still moderately successful, it was small at the time and nimble. Not a lot of overhead, so that cash I had sitting there I reinvested at a very favorable point, that would be where the 500k became 1m+. More recently the Covid ****** provided a lot of opportunities because I sold a few rentals at the end of 2019 and had cash yet again… and it wasn’t an easy choice as I had probably 1m in paper losses at the time but I still reinvested most of that near the bottom.”
Story Continues
Let’s take a look at some of the stocks in the portfolio that helped the investor increase his wealth. We will also review some of his relatively newer picks that are not performing well as of today.
Advanced Micro Devices
The investor said his “biggest” gains came from Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) as he bought the stock when it was trading at around $8. Today, AMD shares are hovering around $111. However, the stock is under pressure as the company struggles to keep up with competitors in the AI race. Its latest data center numbers failed to impress Wall Street. Citi recently downgraded the stock to Neutral from Buy and slashed its price target to $110 from $170.
Trending: If there was a new fund backed by Jeff Bezos offering a 7-9% target yield with monthly dividends would you invest in it?
Nvidia
The investor said he first bought Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares they were trading at around $250, before stock splits. Wall Street is gearing up for Nvidia’s latest quarterly results scheduled to be released later this month. Evercore ISI recently added the stock to its Tactical Outperform list. The firm said its latest checks show the concerns regarding DeepSeek impacting chip demand are untrue as lower compute cost would boost token demand.
Broadcom
The investor who became rich by investing in stocks said he piled into Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) when the stock was trading at around $400, before stock splits. Last month, Oppenheimer called Broadcom one of its top semiconductor picks for 2025. The stock is up 85% over the past 12 months.
Texas Roadhouse
Steakhouse chain Texas Roadhouse (NASDAQ:TXRH) was one of the stocks that made the investor rich as he bought it when it was trading at around $35. Today, the stock price is around $170. TXRH has gained over 1,300% since its IPO in 2004.

Nike
Nike (NYSE:NKE) was one of the relatively recent additions to the investor’s portfolio. He said at the time that his Nike position was up 13%. However, Nike shares are under pressure lately, having lost over 3.6% since the start of 2025. Citi analyst Paul Lejuez recently downgraded the stock to Neutral from Buy, saying Nike’s turnaround plan may take longer than expected.
Kinsale Capital
Specialty-insurance company Kinsale Capital Group Inc (NYSE:KNSL) was an interesting, under-the-radar stock pick of the investor. The stock is up 15% over the past 12 months. At the time of his post, the investor said his KNSL position was up 23%. Earlier this month the company raised its quarterly dividend by over 13%.
Match Group
Dating apps company Match Group (NASDAQ:MTCH) was also a part of the investor’s portfolio. He said at the time of his post that his position in the company was up 10%. However, the stock recently plunged after the company gave first-quarter revenue guidance that missed Wall Street estimates and indicated an annual decline.
Zscaler
Cloud security company Zscaler Inc (NASDAQ:ZS) was also in the portfolio of the investor. The stock is down 17% over the past year. Recently, Scotiabank increased its price target on ZS to $225 from $205.

Nintendo is ending its My Nintendo Gold Points Switch eShop rewards scheme
Nintendo is ending its My Nintendo Gold Points Switch eShop rewards scheme
Nintendo is ending its Gold Points scheme on My Nintendo next month.
The company launched its My Nintendo rewards programme in 2016 alongside the new Nintendo Account system, allowing players to earn Gold and Platinum Points which could be exchanged for physical and digital goods.
While Platinum Points are earned by performing various tasks, Gold Points are earned by buying software, and can then be spent on discounts for future eShop purchases.
While Platinum Points will continue, Nintendo has now announced that Gold Points will end next month.
“On March 25, 2025, the ability to earn Gold Points will end,” it said in a statement on the My Nintendo website. After this date, players will no longer be able to earn Gold Points when purchasing digital software (either on the eShop or via a download code).
According to the statement, players who already have Gold Points after March 25 will still be able to use them before they expire (Gold Points are valid for 12 months from the date they were earned).
Gold Points can also be earned by registering a new physical game on a player’s Switch for the first time – this will still be possible, as long as the game was released before March 25, 2025, and the game is registered less than two years after it was originally released in Europe and South Africa (one year in other countries).
Players will still earn Gold Points for any pre-orders they made before March 25, even if the game releases after that date.
“We sincerely thank you for using the My Nintendo rewards programme, and apologise for any inconvenience,” Nintendo said.

Top U.S., Russian diplomats meet on improving ties, ending Ukraine war — without any Ukrainians at the table
Top U.S., Russian diplomats meet on improving ties, ending Ukraine war — without any Ukrainians at the table
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Senior officials from Russia and the U.S. met in Saudi Arabia Tuesday to begin talks on improving ties and negotiating an end to the war in Ukraine. As CBS News correspondent Holly Williams reports, some feel the Trump administration has granted Vladimir Putin some degree of victory just by agreeing to hold a high-level meeting with his regime as the war he ignited with his full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022 grinds on.
That sentiment may be felt most acutely by the leaders of Ukraine, who were not invited to participate in the initial discussion about the fate of their nation.
Delegations led by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met Tuesday behind closed doors at the Diriyah Palace in Riyadh. The meeting marked another significant step in President Trump’s move to reverse three years of U.S. policy focused on isolating Russia over its war on Ukraine, and it is meant to pave the way for a likely meeting between Mr. Trump and Putin.
President Trump earlier this month upended U.S. policy toward Ukraine and Russia by saying he and Putin had agreed in a phone call to begin negotiations on ending the war, leaving many Ukrainians feeling betrayed as they seemingly had no say in the matter.
U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud, National Security Advisor Mosaad bin Mohammad al-Aiban, the Russian president’s foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting at Riyadh’s Diriyah Palace on Feb. 18, 2025

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that his country wouldn’t accept the outcome of any negotiations conducted without Kyiv’s involvement.
Rubio was accompanied by U.S. national security adviser Mike Waltz and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, while Lavrov sat next to the Kremlin’s foreign affairs adviser, Yuri Ushakov. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and national security adviser Musaed al Alban joined Rubio, Lavrov and others for the start of the meeting but were expected to leave early in the talks.
Ushakov said Monday the talks would be “purely bilateral” and wouldn’t include Ukrainian officials.
The talks mark a significant expansion of U.S.-Russian contacts nearly three years into a war that has seen relations fall to the lowest level in decades.
“The economic aspect of the discussions”
In a possible indication of how Russia might frame its discussions with the Trump administration, senior Russian businessman Kirill Dmitriev, a Western-educated banker who now heads a government-created investment fund, was also taking part in the talks on Tuesday, according to Russian media.
“I will be responsible for the economic aspect of the discussions,” Dmitriev was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency ahead of the talks in Riyadh. “The figure that we are voicing for the first time now is that American business has lost more than $300 billion by leaving the Russian market,” he said, apparently referring to the impact of sanctions imposed on Russia under former President Biden.
“Finding joint economic paths, positive solutions to issues, is extremely important, mainly for the U.S. and for many other countries that are beginning to understand that the Russian market is extremely attractive and that it is necessary to be present in it,” he said, adding that he hoped for “a positive dialogue.”
A pool photograph distributed by the Russian state news agency Sputnik shows President Vladimir Putin meeting with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev at the Kremlin in Moscow, Jan. 13, 2025.

“We see that President Trump is very actively solving a large number of problems in the world and we hope that the Russian Federation’s position will be heard very clearly and the dialogue will continue,” Dmitriev said, according to Interfax.
Dmitriev, who studied at Stanford and Harvard before working early in his career at Goldman Sachs, previously served as an interlocutor between Moscow and Washington during Mr. Trump’s first term in office.
Ukrainians, Europeans sidelined from talks
The recent U.S. diplomatic blitz on the war has sent Kyiv and key allies scrambling to ensure a seat at the table amid concerns that Washington and Moscow could press ahead with a deal that won’t be favorable to them.
France called an emergency meeting of European Union countries and the U.K. on Monday to decide how to respond. French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday said he spoke by phone to Mr. Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the meeting.
“We seek a strong and lasting peace in Ukraine,” Macron wrote on X. “To achieve this, Russia must end its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and credible security guarantees for the Ukrainians,” he said as he vowed to “work on this together with all Europeans, Americans, and Ukrainians.”
Before that meeting, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said for the first time Monday that the U.K. could deploy troops to Ukraine to help secure an eventual peace. Sweden also indicated a willingness Monday to deploy forces to Ukraine to keep an eventual peace.
While other European powers declined to make explicit commitments, calling discussions about deploying peacekeepers to Ukraine premature, Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk ruled out sending Polish troops to the neighboring nation.
Ahead of the meeting in France, Tusk did stress that European powers should immediately spend more on defense.
“If we, Europeans, fail to spend big on defense now, we will be forced to spend 10 times more if we don’t prevent a wider war,” Tusk said on social media.
A boost for “the status of Saudi Arabia”?
Ahead of the Riyadh talks, Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund who the Kremlin said might join the meeting, underscored their importance in comments to The Associated Press.
“Good U.S.-Russia relations are very important for the whole world. Only jointly can Russia and the U.S. address lots of world problems, resolve for global conflicts and offer solutions,” Dmitriev, who said he and his team would focus on economic issues at the talks, told the AP.
The Saudi-owned satellite channel Al Arabiya, citing the Russian delegation, described Moscow’s priority as “real normalization with Washington.”
Diriyah Palace sits across the street from Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter. It’s also just next to the Ritz Carlton hotel, which became famous in 2017 after de facto leader Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman detained other princes and the country’s elite there as part of what the royal court called a crackdown on corruption that also sidelined any potential challenge to his taking control of the kingdom.
Hosting the talks is a major step toward a goal Prince Mohammed has pursued throughout the war — putting the kingdom in the middle of diplomatic negotiations. The Saudis helped in prisoner negotiations and hosted Zelenskyy for an Arab League summit in the kingdom in 2023. Zelenskyy likely will travel to Saudi Arabia later this week.
For Prince Mohammed, once described as a “pariah” by former President Joe Biden over the 2018 killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, hosting such talks burnish the otherwise-tarnished image the West has of him.
Fiancée of slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi calls Biden’s trip to Saudi Arabia “a betrayal”
02:38
Ahead of the summit, the Saudi daily newspaper Okaz described the moment as the “world’s eye on Riyadh.”
Writing in the London-based but Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq Al Awsat, journalist Mishari al-Dhaidi described the summit as “a major step on the international political chess arena, revealing the status of Saudi Arabia and its positive influence for the benefit of all the people.”
The prince also has maintained close relations to Russia throughout its war on Ukraine, both through the OPEC+ oil cartel and diplomatically.
Hosting the summit also balances the harsh criticism recently levied by the kingdom’s tightly controlled media at Mr. Trump over his repeated comments that he wants the U.S. to “own” the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by the Israeli military offensive there since the Oct. 7, 2023, ****** attack. The Palestinians want Gaza and the West Bank for a future state, something backed by the wider Arab world and nearly all of the international community.

Rapper is ‘walking on the ceiling’ after Grammy dream
Rapper is ‘walking on the ceiling’ after Grammy dream

Doechii has enjoyed a dream run lately
A top 10 single, Grammy award and a breathing exercise that’s gone viral.
The last few weeks for American rapper Doechii have been quite something.
Or, in her words: “It’s like now my dreams aren’t dreams anymore. They’re reality.
“I just feel like I’m walking on the ceiling right now,” she tells Radio 1’s New Music Show.
The 26-year-old won this year’s best rap album Grammy for Alligator Bites Never Heal – only the third female artist to do so.
And the infectious “breathin’ exercise” outro from her hit single Denial is a River has got millions of people trying to emulate the “Uh-uh-ooh, uh-uh-ah, uh, uh, uh, ah…” lyric.
After all that, you could forgive her for wanting to take a step back and reflect, but she insists that’s not her style.
She says her first thought when she woke up, post-Grammy win, was that she “wants to work and get in the studio”.
‘Don’t let people stunt your growth’
Doechii considers making music like “working a muscle” in the gym.
“Some days you have days where you hit the gym and you’re sore and then you have those days where you’re really on fire.
“That’s what art is and that’s what pushing the pin is for me,” she says.
The Florida-born artist rose to prominence with the viral 2021 hit Yucky Blucky Fruitcake, after which she toured with SZA and Doja Cat.
And she says “at the front of everything” is thinking “a song a day”.
“It doesn’t need to be a good song, it just needs to be a song.
“And eventually, things will come out and I can make a project out of that.”
She adds taking “small risks” is important.
“And you try things little by little, and then eventually those risks get ******* and ******* and *******.
“And you trust yourself, you build a confidence and that’s kind of how you establish who you are,” Doechii says.
Getty Images
Doechii’s speech after winning her Grammy was praised
When Doechii does have a block in making music, she says it’s because “I’m criticising myself”.
“I’m critiquing the work. And it’s like, don’t critique the work. Just get the work done and move on.”
Dealing with criticism, whether it’s from herself or outside, is something she’s aware of.
Her speech after winning her Grammy was recognised for its message to ****** women.
“Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you,” she told the audience.
“To tell you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark, or that you’re not smart enough, or that you’re too dramatic, or you’re too loud. You are exactly who you need to be, to be right where you are, and I am a testimony right now.”
Speaking to 1Xtra’s Remi Burgz, she adds the intention was to tell people to trust “your inner voice”.
“And not allowing what other people say… to stunt your growth.”
While it has been a joyous past few months, there is a focus on the future.
There will be an album, Doechii says, but also dreams of a Super Bowl performance “inspired” by Kendrick Lamar.
She says his “story and messaging” was on another level and is “in awe of his ability to create a performance that has a story and message”.
“But it’s still digestible for people. He’s a master at that and I’m always inspired.”
But when she thinks back to a year ago and where she was in her career, she recalls the words of American rapper ScHoolboy Q as advice for anyone in a similar position.
“You’ll know an album is done when you have nothing left to say. You’ve bared everything.
“And I think that’s a powerful message, because you keep writing until you’ve gotten it all out,” she says.

‘I had no choice’: Shuhei Yoshida says he had to take PlayStation’s indie role or leave
‘I had no choice’: Shuhei Yoshida says he had to take PlayStation’s indie role or leave
Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida claims he was made to lead PlayStation’s new indie initiative, because he would have had to “leave the company” if he hadn’t.
The popular executive quit Sony last month, after 31 years at the company, where he helped launch the original PlayStation, and served as its president of SIE Worldwide Studios between 2008 and 2019.
In 2019 it was announced that Yoshida had stepped down to work on a new initiative focusing on building relationships with indie developers, with Hermen Hulst replacing him as president.
In a new interview, Yoshida says he essentially “had no choice” but to take the new indies role, because the alternative would have been leaving PlayStation altogether.
Yoshida explained that while he enjoyed his time working with indie developers and will continue to do so now that he has actually left Sony, it was a role that was essentially forced on him, but one he took regardless because of his love for indie games.
“Moving from first-party to indies? Well, I had no choice,” Yoshida explained to VentureBeat. “When Jim asked me to do the indie job, the choice was to do that or leave the company. But I felt very strongly about the state of PlayStation and indies. I really wanted to do this. I believed I could do something unique for that purpose.
Yoshida says he was made to either step down as SIE president and take on the new indie role, or leave the company.
“That was the ******* change for me personally – moving from first-party to indies – than leaving the company this year. I’m very lucky that the indie community, the publishers and developers I work closely with, they believed that they could use my help.
“I became an advisor for some of these companies. I’m continuing to work with some of the indie publishers and developers I respect. The transition out of Sony to becoming an independent advisor is less of a change than moving out of first-party.”
Yoshida left Sony in January, marking the end of a three-decade-long career with the platform holder. When asked by VentureBeat why he had retired, Yoshida noted that he hadn’t actually decided to retire, just to leave Sony. He also noted that his aim was to improve Sony’s relationship with indies to the extent that he would no longer be needed.
“My personal goal, when I started the indie job, was to make my position obsolete,” he explained. “The company would be doing so well that there was no need for someone like me to tell everyone that this was important. I feel like we’ve achieved that pretty well.
“There’s still a lot we can do, but people are working on it. You had the combination of Jim leaving and Nishino and Hermen stepping up, and I felt good about the state of our support for indies. I decided to leave.”
Yoshida joked last month that he had been removed as SIE Worldwide Studios boss because he would have resisted the company’s push into live service games.
Speaking to Kinda Funny, he said: “Luckily, Helldivers 2 did so well… nobody expected that. So you can’t plan a success in this industry, that’s the most fun part of this business. I hope that this strategy will work in the end. If I was in Hermen’s position, I probably would have tried to resist that direction. Maybe that’s one of the reasons they removed me from first-party!”

Adelaide mother to face court after threatening to “slit” student’s throat
Adelaide mother to face court after threatening to “slit” student’s throat
An Adelaide mother who threatened to “slit” a student’s throat multiple times in a violent tirade at her daughter’s private school is set to face court for assault.
The alleged incident occurred on February 3 where the 31-year-old woman was filmed in a heated confrontation with a student in a Year 8 classroom.
“You ever f***ing mess with my daughter again I’ll slit your f***ing throat,” the woman yelled in the video.
Camera IconThe parent confronted a school student accusing them of bullying her child. 7NEWS Credit: Channel 7Camera IconThe mother has alleged the outburst was in response to “relentless” bullying experienced by her daughter. 7NEWS Credit: Channel 7
Premier Peter Malinauskas said the incident was “indefensible” on February 5.
“I don’t know what the circumstances were that led the parent to say those things, but whatever they were, they do not condone or justify those remarks in any circumstance whatsoever,” Mr Malinauskas said.
The unnamed mother later told7Newsher actions were wrong, but said the outburst was a consequence of being at “breaking point.”
She alleged her 13-year-old daughter had experienced “relentless” bullying.
On the day of the incident, she claims her daughter came home from school early, upset after a student had told her to go kill herself.
Camera IconThe woman told 7News she had done “everything in her power” as a parent to help her daughter leading up to the incident. 7News Credit: Channel 7
“I don’t want my daughter to be another statistic. I don’t want to have to bury my child.
“That is a breaking point for any parent … I went into survival mode, and protective mode.”
Police will allege the woman entered a classroom and verbally threatened a teenage girl.
She said she had tried everything to stop the bullying and begged for help from the school.
“I did everything in my power as a parent and so did my husband to make sure our daughter was safe, especially dropping her off at school,” she said.
“I have stated time and time again to the school that we are begging. We begged for help. We begged.”
The woman will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers offer won’t count for Switch 2 games, Nintendo says
Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers offer won’t count for Switch 2 games, Nintendo says
Nintendo has stated that its Switch Game Vouchers promotion won’t count when it comes to Switch 2 games.
Nintendo started the Game Vouchers programme in May 2019, allowing players to buy a pair of Switch games at a cheaper combined price.
Players buy a pair of two vouchers for $100 / £84, and can then redeem them for almost any full-price first-party Switch game released over the course of the console’s life, including pre-orders of upcoming titles such as Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.
Because most first-party Switch games cost $60 / £50 (with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costing $70 / £60), players can usually save around $20 / £16 by purchasing Game Vouchers instead of buying the games directly.
However, Nintendo has now updated its Switch Game Vouchers page to make it clear that when Switch 2 games start releasing, they won’t be part of the Game Vouchers deal.
“Please note that Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers cannot be redeemed for Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games,” a message on the page reads.
The Game Vouchers deal lets players buy two first-party Switch games at a discounted price.
It’s not entirely clear whether this decision has been made because Switch 2 games will be more expensive, because Nintendo doesn’t see the need to incentivise Switch 2 software sales during its launch *******, or for some other reason.
Nintendo also announced today that as of next month players will no longer be able to earn Gold Points on game purchases made through the Nintendo eShop as part of its My Nintendo programme.
It should be noted, then, that while the Switch Game Vouchers programme will not be eligible for Switch 2 games, there appear to be no plans to end the current service for Switch games.

Residents and crews gear up for heavy snowfall expected Wednesday across Hampton Roads
Residents and crews gear up for heavy snowfall expected Wednesday across Hampton Roads
NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Residents, road crews, and power crews in Hampton Roads are preparing for another round of possible snow.
Several inches of snowfall are expected across the region on Wednesday.
Norfolk resident Marc Odom took action upon hearing about the forecast, heading out to gather supplies for his family.
“Waterproof gloves— we learned that last time. Waterproof gloves, lots of socks, soups, hot chocolate, the whole deal— preparing for a few days, ideally,” Odom said.
A Norfolk man went to Taylor’s Do It Center looking for salt, but the store was sold out by late afternoon, according to keyholder Andrew Lopus.
“We sold five pallets; I think that’s about 250 bags, maybe a little bit more,” Lopus said.
Lopus said the store is expected to receive more bags of salt Tuesday afternoon.
“We’re just making sure we’re stocked and bringing enough supplies for when everybody comes,” Lopus added.
A spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Transportation confirmed that the department has been pre-treating roads across the region in preparation for the weather.
“Crews have also replenished materials, including salt, sand, and brine, since the last winter weather event to address the road impacts anticipated from the forecasted snowfall and freezing temperatures once the storm begins during the day on Wednesday,” a spokesperson said in an email to 10 On Your Side.
Cherise Newsome, a spokesperson for Dominion Energy, added that the company will have all hands on deck.
“Staff members who may typically be designing parts of the grid will become storm patrollers, helping with inventory and serving as scalps,” Newsome said.

British conductor Edward Gardner sorry for calling Italian opera singers ******
A British conductor has apologised for likening singers at one of Italy’s leading opera houses to warring ****** families.
Edward Gardner, who is principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, was threatened with a defamation action for his comments about chorus members at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
Speaking to the Times last month about a recent appearance at the venue, Gardner said: “The chorus is made up of two rival ****** families – who after one performance put each other in A&E.”
In a statement issued by the opera house, he said he wanted to “sincerely apologise to the members of the chorus of the San Carlo Opera House”.
Gardner explained: “Shortly before my arrival in Naples I was informed that two members of the chorus had a public fight just outside the theatre resulting in one person being hospitalised. I was very surprised by this.
“However I did not intend to suggest that the choir were members of the ******, and I am more than happy to retract that allegation.”
Gardner said he had “deep respect and appreciation for the choir and its members”, and his appearance in Naples last summer was “a meaningful experience that highlighted the talent, dedication, and hard work of this group”.
“I regret that anything I said may have suggested otherwise because I have experienced firsthand the professionalism and excellence of this choir and I want to make it clear how much I value and respect everyone involved,” he continued.
His original comments angered the mayor of Naples, who said they were “very serious allegations that are completely unfounded”.

Kylie Kelce says there are 3 things a man should do for his pregnant wife
Kylie Kelce says there are 3 things a man should do for his pregnant wife
Kylie Kelce is expecting her fourth child with her husband, former NFL player Jason Kelce.
Her advice includes extending patience and providing postpartum support.
“Remember that your wife is growing a human,” Kelce said.
Kylie Kelce is expecting her fourth child with retired NFL player Jason Kelce — and she knows a thing or two about dealing with pregnancy.
During an interview with Alex Cooper on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on Wednesday, Kelce shared three things that men should do for their pregnant wives.
“Remember that your wife is growing a human,” Kelce, 32, told Cooper. “Sometimes I think guys are like, ‘Oh, she’s fine.’ And I’m like, no. You’re actively building a human being, so, like, just give her some grace.”
It’s also important for men to adopt a “this, too, shall pass” attitude, and remember that the challenges of pregnancy — such as mood swings — are temporary, she said.
“I’ve had pregnancies where I’ve been really, really emotional, and after the pregnancy, I’m like, ‘Jason, I don’t know how you did that. Jesus, thank you for sticking with me,” Kelce said.
The couple has been married since 2018, and they share three daughters — Wyatt Elizabeth, Elliotte Ray, and Bennett Llewellyn — with a fourth daughter on the way.
Lastly, Kelce says new mothers need their husbands’ support during the postpartum *******, too — perhaps even more than during the pregnancy.
“Postpartum is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my whole life. Labor is like a drop in the bucket compared to postpartum,” Kelce said.
She added that she didn’t feel immediately connected to her eldest daughter, Wyatt, the first time she brought her home.
“I did not feel that immediate, like, ‘This is my baby,'” Kelce said. “I didn’t have that sensationalized, like, ‘I’m a mother now.’ It was like a slow ease in.”
The first few weeks postpartum were difficult on her body as well, she said.
“We’re both in diapers. I have a cooling pad on my lady bits. I am afraid to sit down at any given point because it hurts so bad, and at the same time, every two hours, I’m supposed to connect you to my boob and something’s going to happen,” Kelce said.
Postpartum typically refers to the first six to eight weeks after delivery. During this *******, many changes — both physical and emotional — occur in a woman’s body.
Physical symptoms that new mothers may experience include breast engorgement, cramps, and ******** bleeding. Some women also experience emotional symptoms, such as postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety.
“Postnatal depression and anxiety are incredibly common and it is so important that it is identified early to help you receive the support and treatment that you may need,” Dr. Brooke Vandermolen, an OB/GYN, previously told Business Insider.
“Communicating your feelings can really help so others around you know how you are feeling,” she said.
In addition to getting enough rest, new mothers should also pay attention to their diet, stay hydrated, and limit their physical activity at least until their doctors give them the go-ahead, per Cleveland Clinic.
A representative for Kelce did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by *** outside regular hours.

Jefferies upgrades Wynn Resorts, says casino giant can rally more than 30%
Jefferies thinks Wynn Resorts is well positioned to go higher thanks to its stable core business and development pipeline. Analyst David Katz upgraded the casino and resorts stock to buy from hold. He also increased his price target to $118 from $105, implying 33% upside potential from Friday’s close. Shares ticked slightly higher after the rating change. According to Katz, Wynn Al Marjan Island — which is being built in the United Arab Emirates — is one of the upcoming positive catalysts for the stock. The development is slated to become the first casino within the UAE. WYNN 5D mountain WYNN 5-day chart “Street confidence in Al Marjan Island is growing,” the analyst wrote in a note on Monday. “The key issue surrounding Al Marjan Island is the opening and actualization of the property. However, given Wynn received a casino license for the property and construction is progressing on schedule, concerns are falling.” In addition, Wynn Resorts is expected to see another tailwind from a recovering Macao market. The company is well-exposed to a stable VIP and premium consumer base in Macao, which helped power a 23% year-over-year growth in EBITDAR last year, per Katz. “We expect stability in 2025 on macro and market,” Katz said. The upgrade comes after Wynn Resort shares soared 10.4% on fourth-quarter results that came above consensus estimates. The company posted stronger-than-expected net revenue in Macao and Las Vegas. To be sure, the stock still remains lower by 15.5% over the last 12 months. Most analysts are bullish on Wynn Resorts. According to LSEG, 16 of the 19 who cover the casino and resort operator have a buy or strong buy rating. The average analyst price target also signals more than 26% upside ahead.

Alfie, from Newry, County Down, was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) when he was four years old.
His dad Jamie Pentony said the new drug, Givinostat, could slow his son’s incurable condition down, but the Belfast Trust did “not have the capacity” to offer it.
The Belfast Trust said it was not in a position to proceed with the implementation of Givinostat as “additional staffing resources would be required to ensure the treatment could be provided safely”.

Alfie said the drug would really help him and others with the genetic condition
There are many types of muscular dystrophy.
They are inherited genetic conditions that gradually cause the muscles to weaken, leading to an increasing level of disability.
DMD is one of the most common and severe forms – it usually affects boys in early childhood and many people with the condition will only live into their 20s or 30s.
Speaking on BBC Radio Ulster’s Nolan Show, Mr Pentony said there were 13 boys in Northern Ireland who could benefit from the drug.
“Who is going to tell the 13 kids that could avail of this that some of them might not be walking next year?
“Time is muscle when it comes to Duchenne. Your lung is a muscle, your heart is a muscle and most of the boys die from heart failure.
“They [the Belfast Trust] are telling us they do not have the capacity, they do not have the nurses to take the tests, that they do not have the neurologists to look after the boys whilst on this drug.”
Alfie said people needed access to the drug now
Alfie said his condition could stop him from walking, but doctors have told him that because he was “doing so well, it will take a while for that to happen”.
“The drug would really help me, it would help me a lot, but there are other children that will stop walking before me, so it’s important for them to get it as well,” he said.
“It’s cruel they are not giving this drug to kids in Northern Ireland with this disability. We all have the right to have something that could help.”
The anti-inflammatory drug, Givinostat, has been approved for use in the *** by the medicines regulator and is available early for people who meet strict criteria, on the NHS.
Individual trusts must apply to take part in the Early Access Programme (EAP).
The Belfast Trust said: “The drug is available for an Early Access Programme (EAP) for eligible patients, pending decisions about wider access following the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommendations.
“Currently, Belfast Trust is not in a position to proceed under the EAP. We recognise this will be very disappointing for families and the Belfast Trust sincerely apologises to them.”
‘Time is muscle’
Una Farrell, from the charity Duchenne ***, said: “It’s just hard to understand with a disease that is so cruel and progressive, and time is muscle, why children cannot be given access to it now.
“We understand that resources are a huge issue, but it’s been known for several years that this drug was on its way.
“There is no cure for muscular dystrophy – finally there is a treatment that the data suggests can slow down the progression.”
Routine health service access to Givinostat will depend on guidance from health assessment body NICE.
Northern Ireland’s Department of Health said it fully understood that patients and families want to access the best available health service treatments and drugs.
“The department maintains a formal link with NICE. In practice, this means that treatments that have been recommended by NICE for routine use in the NHS in England are also routinely available in Northern Ireland.
“NICE are developing guidance on the clinical and cost effectiveness of Givinostat for the treatment of DMD in people six years and over, with a committee meeting scheduled for May 2025.”
