Man on trial for setting fire to neighbour over noise
Man on trial for setting fire to neighbour over noise
Angered by loud music late at night, a man has been accused of pouring accelerant over his neighbour and setting her on fire with a blowtorch.
Michael Gauci, 45, faced the first day of a Supreme Court jury trial on Tuesday accused of the attempted ******* of his neighbour, Shari Gray, and injuring two other neighbours, in December 2022.
He was allegedly out and his wife called him several times over the evening after neighbours were singing and playing loud music over the fence, prosecutors told the jury.
When Gauci returned home, after 1am on December 28, prosecutor Angela Moran said he picked up a blowtorch from his kitchen bench.
She alleged Gauci then argued with the neighbours over the fence and told one of the women, Ms Gray, “come out the front to sort it out”.
Ms Moran said Ms Gray went to change and then confronted Gauci and his wife out the front, with two of Ms Gray’s family members and a friend standing on the nature strip.
An altercation then ensued between Ms Gray and Gauci’s wife.
Gauci grabbed a bucket from behind his front fence and then threw about one litre of liquid, which Ms Moran alleged was a “pre-wash accelerant”, onto Ms Gray’s face and upper body.
“After the liquid hit Ms Gray, the accused man – standing one metre away from her – ignites a blowtorch he was holding in his hand, causing it to emit a flame,” Ms Moran said.
“Ms Gray catches fire, her whole head and upper body were on fire.”
She said Ms Gray screamed and moved onto the grass, falling onto the ground, before police and paramedics were called.
Ms Moran said her injuries were “acute and life threatening” as 70 per cent of Ms Gray’s body was burned, from her face to her thighs.
Gauci is charged with Ms Gray’s attempted *******, but if the jury cannot find that beyond a reasonable doubt then they can find him guilty of an alternative charge of intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence.
He is also facing two reckless conduct causing serious injury and endangering life for injuring two others in the incident.
However, Gauci’s barrister John Korn said his client – who has pleaded not guilty to all charges – contested many of the facts put by the prosecution and alleged Ms Gray was the aggressor.
Gauci denied he knew there was anything flammable in the bucket or that he was holding a blowtorch. He was holding a rifle in the hopes it would “scare them away”, Mr Korn said.
“There was a blowtorch that was discarded, he didn’t pick it up at that time,” he told the jury.
He said Ms Gray was “spoiling for a fight” and Gauci just wanted to sort out the issue “civilly” without resorting to violence.
The trial before Justice Andrew Tinney continues.

Ruby Franke’s Husband Asked Her to Stop Contacting Him From Prison
Ruby Franke’s Husband Asked Her to Stop Contacting Him From Prison
Originally appeared on E! Online
Ruby Franke’s husband is setting boundaries.
A year after the YouTube family vlogger was sentenced to the minimum of four and maximum of 30 years in prison for four counts of aggravated child abuse alongside associate Jodi Hildebrandt, her estranged husband Kevin Franke shared where the couple—parents to six children—stand today.
“The last letter that I received from her from prison was maybe in March or April of last year,” Kevin—who married Ruby in 2000—told People in an interview published Feb. 25. “And then I requested the Department of Corrections to ask her to stop writing me.”
Kevin admitted, “I didn’t want to hear anymore. I didn’t like what she was saying.”
Although he wouldn’t disclose the exact contents of his estranged wife’s letters, Kevin detailed why he couldn’t continue correspondence with her.
“I’m very angry,” he shared. “I’m still very angry.”
As noted of his wife’s attempts to reach out, “It just didn’t feel right and it didn’t feel good.”
More from E! Online
Indeed, Kevin and Ruby are currently amid a divorce—with the father of six explaining that the couple are “close” to reaching a settlement. And while he admits he still has “love” for his wife, he cannot “excuse” how she hurt their children, and him.
“There are some bridges that you just can’t cross and then come back,” Kevin said. “She burned the bridges so I’m moving on. And I’m going to do what’s best for my children, for my family, and for myself, and that’s not going to include her.”
In the year since Ruby’s sentencing, Kevin is not the only one close to Ruby to speak out. Her eldest daughter Shari Franke, 21, recently published a memoir, The House of My Mother, and has detailed her upbringing in an abusive household—particularly in the aftermath of Jodi moving in.
Instagram
“I could for sure feel a shift,” Shari explained of Jodi’s entering the picture in a Jan. 7 Good Morning America interview. “It did become more psychological. And in a way, that was more damaging to me.”
Following her February 2024 sentencing, Ruby expressed remorse for her actions, claiming her behavior stemmed from a “dark delusion,” but her loved ones are understandably hesitant to forgive her.
“I don’t think she’ll ever fully comprehend or understand what she’s done,” Shari told People Jan. 2. “I just hope she can get the help that she needs.”
For a thorough dive into Ruby’s transgressions, keep reading…
Aug. 30, 2023: Children Found Malnourished
Utah police received a call about a starved child being found, they shared in a press release. The minor—who appeared “emaciated and malnourished” with “open wounds and duct tape around the extremities”—was taken to the hospital in “severe” condition.
He was later identified as YouTuber Ruby Franke’s 12-year-old son, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by NBC News. He had been at the home of Ruby’s business partner Jodi Hildebrant and had climbed out of a window before going to a neighbor’s house to ask for help, per the document.
Police then searched a nearby home, where another child was found “in a similar physical condition of malnourishment” and was also hospitalized, per the press release.
Authorities later explained that they discovered Ruby’s 9-year-old daughter “petrified” while sitting by herself in an empty closet in Jodi’s house, per evidence released by the Washington County Attorney’s Office.
Aug. 30, 2023: Arrest
Ruby was arrested for aggravated child abuse charges in Utah along with Jodi, who in 2007 established a life coaching service called ConneXions, which former clients described to NBC News as a “cult-like” program based on principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Aug. 31, 2023: Ruby’s Daughter Speaks Out
On Aug. 31, E! reported that Shari Franke, Ruby’s estranged adult daughter, reacted to the news on her Instagram Story.
“Me and my family are so glad justice is being served,” wrote Shari, who was born in 2003. “We’ve been trying to tell the police and CPS for years about this, and so glad they finally decided to step up. Kids are safe, but there’s a long road ahead.”
Aug. 31, 2023: Ruby’s Sisters React to Arrest
Ruby’s sisters Ellie Mecham, Bonnie Hoellein and Julie Deru spoke out as well, saying the YouTuber’s arrest “needed to happen.”
“For the last 3 years we have kept quiet on the subject of Ruby Franke for the sake of her children,” they wrote in a joint Instagram statement. “Behind the public scene, we have done everything to try and make sure the kids were safe. We wouldn’t feel right about moving forward with regular content without addressing the most recent events. Once we do, we will not be commenting on it any further.”
The siblings said Ruby’s kids are “now safe, which is the number one priority.”
Sept. 6, 2023: Charges Filed
The former 8 Passengers YouTuber and her business partner Jodi were each formally charged with six counts of felony child abuse by the Washington County Attorney in Utah.
Sept. 6, 2023: Kevin Franke Breaks Silence
Ruby’s husband Kevin Franke came forward to deny involvement in her alleged crimes. His lawyer ****** Kester told Good Morning America the spouses had been living apart for 13 months before the arrest.
“He is a good person, he’s very gentle,” the attorney said. “He’s a very gentle guy. And no one has ever made any allegations that he’s physically abused those kids or anyone else.”
Nov. 29, 2023: Kevin Files for Divorce
Kevin officially filed for divorce from the Utah influencer, according to a domestic relations injunction obtained by NBC News.
Dec. 18: Guilty Pleas
E! confirmed Dec. 18 that Ruby had entered a guilty plea for four of her charges. At the time, per the Associated Press, she stated, “With my deepest regret and sorrow for my family and my children, guilty.”
Jodi would also plead guilty to four counts of second-degree felony aggravated child abuse.
Feb. 20, 2024: Prison Sentencing
Both women were sentenced to four consecutive one to 15 year sentences, which will be capped at the 30-year max in Utah.
Feb. 20, 2024: Ruby Apologizes
The parent vlogger apologized during her sentencing to her six kids and estranged husband.
“For the past four years, I’ve chosen to follow counsel and guidance that has led me into a dark delusion,” she said in court. “My distorted version of reality went largely unchecked as I would isolate from anyone who challenged me.”
She continued, “To my babies, you are a part of me. I believed dark was light and right was wrong. I would do anything in this world for you. I took from you all that was soft, and safe, and good.”
March 25, 2024: Ruby’s Diary Revealed
Prosecutors released her chilling journal entries, in which she wrote about her mistreatment of her children, including her “Satanic” tween son.
“He slithers & sneaks around looking for opportunities when no one is watching & then he scurries,” she wrote in an entry from July 10, 2023, which was her son’s 12th birthday. “If he wants to emulate the savior, he needs to be 100% obedient with exactness. No wavering, no hiding.”
She wrote about punishing her children by beating them and withholding food and water.
March 25, 2024: Kevin’s Interview With Authorities Becomes Public
Prosecutors released audio footage of Kevin talking with investigators after Ruby was arrested, in which he spoke about alleged restrictions he faced in their house.
“There were all these rules now placed on me, like I can leave when I want but I couldn’t come back until Ruby gave me permission,” Kevin said in an audio clip obtained by E!. “I couldn’t come into the kitchen to eat until Ruby gave me permission and the upstairs where Jodi was was completely offline. I couldn’t go upstairs anymore in my own house. And Ruby would dictate all of the terms of how our interactions would be, when we would talk. And that was hard.”

Flight Centre shares hit turbulence as post-COVID recovery fades and sugar hits from buybacks end
Flight Centre shares hit turbulence as post-COVID recovery fades and sugar hits from buybacks end
Flight Centre has hit turbulence as it tries to lift margins and revenue after enjoying a partial recovery from COVID-19 horrors.
Shares in the travel agent plunged more than 11 per cent on Wednesday after it disclosed modest 3 per cent revenue growth and a 31 per cent fall in net profit to $60.5 million.
Flight Centre was hit by lower margins on big supplier payments in the December half, as well as being deprived of a big sugar hit from buying back low-interest convertible notes issued in the depths of COVID-19 crisis.
Growth in cash outflows to employees and suppliers far outstripped receipts from customers in the December half as its management spoke of ongoing attempts to contain worker costs and boost productivity.
Flight Centre chief executive Graham Turner said it was a tale of two quarters, with the group’s transaction volume rebounding in the December quarter after a “challenging” September quarter.
Mr Turner said the group’s foundations were strong and it was well-placed to deliver a better second half profit as volumes increased during its busiest trading ******* of the financial year.
Flight Centre was “trading in a reasonably normal environment, after rapid recovery post-COVID,” he said.
Releasing its profit result, the company tried to highlight its measure of underlying profit before tax — which it said grew from $109.3m in the December 2023 half to $116.8m in the last half.
When unveiling its half-yearly results a year ago, Flight Centre said underlying profit before tax for the December 2023 half was 565 per cent higher at $106m.
In its celebration of its best start to a financial year since the December 2019 half, Flight Centre announced its statutory profit before tax was up 756 per cent to $120m for the December half of 2023.
The latest net profit before tax result was down more than one quarter to $88.24m as gains shrivelled from the group’s partial buyback of $800m in convertible notes issued in November 2021.
The December statutory pre-tax profit had included a $48m gain linked to its November 2023 buy-back of convertible notes, which were only partially offset by $15.9m by the ongoing amortisation of the debt instruments that expire in 2027 and 2028.
Its $75m buyback of low-interest convertible notes in November 2023 not only resulted in a $10.98m purchase gain, but also allowed for $37m pre-tax profit from the revaluation of the remaining debt-based instruments.
The latest statutory net profit before tax was down 27 per cent to $88.24m as just $11.5m of pre-tax gains were created by a $200m buyback of convertible notes in November 2024. There was $14m of ongoing note amortisation.
For the December half, the shopfront and gaming platforms’s own total transaction value measure increased by 3.2 per cent to $11.7 billion.
This was accompanied by group revenue also increasing 3.2 per cent, or $41m, to $1.33b.
In its result announcement, Flight Centre said pressure on its big supplier payments and revenue margins were easing as airfare price deflation eased in Australia.
After a 2.3 per cent increase in underlying profit margins in January, it predicted further improvements from “productivity and efficiency” initiatives in its leisure and consumer operations.

Scientists Announce Major Update About Earth-Threatening Asteroid
Scientists Announce Major Update About Earth-Threatening Asteroid
Well, that was a close one. Just a week after a potentially city-destroying asteroid was upgraded to a heart-palpitating 3 percent chance of colliding with the Earth, astronomers say that there is no longer a viable threat.
Scientists were in a crunch to learn as much as possible about asteroid 2024 YR4, which was first discovered in December 2024, before it disappeared behind the sun for three years in April. The asteroid, estimated to be between 130 feet to 300 feet across, orbits near the earth every four years, but there had been a 1 in 32 chance of it making impact with the Earth in 2032.
Now, European Space Agency puts those odds at a meager 0.001 percent while NASA estimates it to be a slightly higher 0.004 percent, after experts were able to calculate more precise models of the asteroid’s trajectory.
There is still a threat of the asteroid coming in contact with the moon on Dec. 22, 2032, but those odds are likewise very low at a 1.7 percent chance.
In the meantime, astronomers will continue to track the rock before it disappears until 2028, and are planning to zoom in using the Webb Space Telescope to pinpoint its exact size next month.
“While this asteroid no longer poses a significant impact hazard to Earth, 2024 YR4 provided an invaluable opportunity for experts at NASA and its partner institutions to test planetary defense science and notification processes,” the federal agency said in a blog post this week.

Archaeologists Found Ancient Tools That Contradict the Timeline of Civilization
Archaeologists Found Ancient Tools That Contradict the Timeline of Civilization
Stone tool analysis of sites in Southeast Asia provided evidence that the area was a technological leader in seafaring.
Archaeology supports that, 40,000 years ago, the people living in Southeast Asia were well-versed in boatbuilding and open-sea fishing.
This research puts Southeast Asia ahead of Europe and Africa in technological process.
In the history of studying the proliferation of humanity across the globe, there has long been one question that has stumped researchers: How did the islands of Southeast Asia (ISEA) become so well-inhabited so long ago? It likely required technological seafaring advancements beyond what was considered likely during the Paleolithic era. But those experts may have a surprising new answer thanks to new research that shows the ancient people of the Philippines and ISEA may have mastered seafaring well before anyone else.
The pivotal archaeological evidence comes in the form of stone tools excavated at sites in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste, showing strong evidence that as far back as 40,000 years ago, there was a technological sophistication from these ancient seafarers that rivals much later civilizations. In a study published in the Journal of Archaeological Science, researchers from Ateneo de Manila University challenge the accepted belief that Paleolithic technical progress was centered in Africa and Europe.
Proving seafaring history represents a tricky endeavor, since organic wood and fiber that would have likely been used in constructing Paleolithic seacraft rarely survive in the archaeological record. These stone tools offer a new way in. The most recent discovery, according to the study, shows traces of plant processing that features the “extraction of fibers necessary for making ropes, nets, and bindings essential for boatbuilding and open-sea fishing.”
Add in the discovery of fishing hooks, gorges, net weights, and the remains of deep-ocean fish such as tuna and sharks, and these archeological sites are a rich exploration of what is obviously a robust seafaring culture.
“The remains of large predatory pelagic fish at these sites indicate the capacity for advanced seafaring and knowledge of the seasonality and migration routes of those fish species,” the study authors wrote. The collection of fish and tool remains “indicates the need for strong and well-crafted cordage for ropes and fishing lines to catch the marine fauna.”
As the archaeological finds point toward a sophisticated method of deep-ocean fishing, the study authors believe the ancient seafarers constructed boats from organic materials and held them together with plant-based ropes. That same rope technology was then adapted for the actual fishing.
While widely accepted that the presence of fossils and artifacts across a range of islands provides evidence that early modern humans moved across the open sea, the study’s authors fight against the prevailing theory that the prehistoric migrations were passive sea drifters on bamboo rafts. Rather, they posit that the movement came from highly skilled navigators equipped with the knowledge and technology to travel to remote locations over deep waters.
“The identification of boat-building materials through direct or indirect evidence is vital in understanding movements across and within island environments,” the authors wrote in the study.
“The presence of such advanced maritime technology in prehistoric ISEA highlights the ingenuity of early Philippine peoples and their neighbors,” the authors said in a statement from the university, “whose boat-building knowledge likely made the region a center for technological innovations tens of thousands of years ago and laid the foundations for the maritime traditions that still thrive in the region today.”

Varenje: Don’t Touch Berries sets you on a quest for normalcy after shrinking to the size of a bug, now in pre-registration
Solve puzzles to collect raspberries
Find your way back to human size
Quirky bug-sized world to explore
JoyBits Ltd. has opened pre-registration sign-ups for Varenje: Don’t Touch Berries, which, as you can probably tell from the title, is a firm lesson on doing as you’re told as a child in my opinion. I mean, with a narrative that shrank the protagonist to the size of a bug just because he ate a bunch of berries, it’s hard not to take this as a cautionary tale, isn’t it?
In Varenje: Don’t Touch Berries, you’ll navigate a miniature world where worms and spiders go about their day, all on a quest to get back to the life you once knew. There are plenty of mini-games to take on and puzzles to solve, from piecing together odd machinery to connecting wires and pipes to get things moving the way they should.
It’s all to find a cure to your particular predicament – a supposedly secret healing potion that will turn you back to regular human size by collecting enough raspberries for your grandma. The visuals have a quirky and very distinct art style too, so it all adds a bit of a Carroll-esque feel to me.
If you’re a fan of solving puzzles this way, why not take a look at our list of the best point-and-click adventures on Android to get your fill?
In the meantime, if you’re eager to join in on all the fun, you can do so by checking out Varenje: Don’t Touch Berries on Google Play. It doesn’t seem to be on the App Store at the moment.

Activision Officially Confirms Use Of Generative AI In Call Of Duty Games
Activision Officially Confirms Use Of Generative AI In Call Of Duty Games
raWfodog24d ago
Since you obviously cherry-picked only the positive point in the article, I’ll provide the counterpoint to the debate.
“Microsoft’s latest financial results reveal that Xbox console sales are down a calamitous 29% over Christmas, with Call Of Duty boosting Game Pass by only a fraction.”
“But just as Starfield had little to no affect on Game Pass numbers neither did ****** Ops 6, with Microsoft’s results showing an increase of just 2%. At the same time hardware sales fell by 29% and overall gaming revenue was down 7%, over the vital October to December quarter of last year.”
“…the underlying problem is that console sales continue to freefall and without that Microsoft’s games business is little more than just Activision with a new hat on.”
“Microsoft boss Satya Nadella tried to make the best of the results in the company’s earnings call, with some very carefully cherry-picked stats, such as PC Game Pass subscriptions being up 30%.”
“…although it’s impossible to know for sure as Microsoft still refuses to provide figures for subscriber numbers or console sales, which tells its own story.”
“Nadella didn’t address any of the negative sales results or give any indication of what was going to be done about falling console sales and their impact on Game Pass subscriptions. Although it’s worth noting that the weak console sales results from 2023 are what precipitated the current attempts to embrace multiformat publishing.”
“The problem…is that the majority of Game Pass subscribers are Xbox console owners and with hardware sales bottoming out there is very little capacity for future growth.”

Aussie quick Behrendorff walks away from state cricket
Aussie quick Behrendorff walks away from state cricket
Jason Behrendorff has played his last game for Western Australia, with the former international quick retiring from all but Twenty20 cricket.
After knocking back a state contract this summer to free himself for the global T20 circuit, Behrendorff had remained available for Western Australia in short stints.
But he confirmed on Wednesday that would no longer be the case, the 34-year-old keen to walk away from anything beyond Twenty20 cricket.
A white-ball threat for Australia when on the field, Behrendorff’s call comes after he was not retained by Perth for next BBL season and let go to Melbourne Renegades.
With more time on the road ahead, Behrendorff confirmed an early-season fixture for Western Australia against NSW last September would be his last.
“It played a huge part in my decision to retire,” Behrendorff said.
“I know that I’m away with international commitments, franchise leagues and the like, but I want to be home and present for my kids.
“In particular, things like school pick-up and drop-off … to spend more quality time with my wife, Juvelle, and to be able to immerse myself more in family life.”
A Canberra product, Behrendorff played 12 ODIs and 17 T20s for Australia, taking 34 wickets across the two formats.
His ability to trouble batters with his left-arm quicks made him a staple of Australia’s team in the second half of the 2019 ODI World Cup.
But he was soon besieged by more back injuries, which had previously forced him to walk away from red-ball cricket at age 27 in 2017.
Before that he had taken 126 wickets in 30 Shield games, recording the best strike-rate (44.34) and third-best average (23.31) of any WA player with 100 wickets or more.
“It’s been no surprise to people who know me or a little bit about cricket that I’ve battled with quite a few injuries across the journey,” Behrendorff said. “To keep getting back up every time I had a setback, to continue to play good cricket, to be involved with each team and to win trophies.
“I didn’t think think my career at WA would end up like this in terms of the success I was able to have both personally and with the team, so for that I’m very proud and very grateful.”

The child didn’t reach a hospital until the father’s friend stopped to pick up and deliver food to her boyfriend, an autopsy says. Karter Holloway, 5, might have survived if his father acted more quickly, the medical examiner concluded.
Karter was one of three Wake County children whose parents were charged with their murders in the last three months of 2023.
Amir Hines, 25, came into his son Karter’s life after being released from prison in mid-2023 following an armed robbery conviction. Karter’s grandmother Tiffani Holloway told The News & Observer that she and Karter’s mother, Madison Holloway, were thrilled when Hines asked to spend time with his son.
They started with visits at the Holloway home, gradually allowing Karter to join Hines, his girlfriend and her children on family outings, play dates and overnight visits, Holloway said. At Christmas, Karter left for his first multiple-day visit with his father, she said.
On New Year’s Eve, Tiffany Holloway got a call from her daughter. Karter — who she called “my bop-bop” — was bruised and breathing through a ventilator at UNC REX Hospital in Raleigh, she said.
On Tuesday, Holloway told the News & Observer that her family is living “moment by moment,” attending therapy and support groups, and trying to support each other as best they can through the court process.
Hines continues to deny he did anything wrong, she said.
“If he could admit to it, it would be some form of — not closure — but I just need him to take accountability,” Holloway said.
Tiffani Holloway holds up a print of her grandson, Karter, while at her home in Raleigh on Jan 26, 2024. Karter, 5, died in a hospital on Jan. 1 after being assaulted and abused. Karter’s father, Amir Hines, was arrested and charged with *******.
What happened to Karter?
Karter arrived at the hospital in a coma and showed multiple hemorrhages and blunt force injuries to both sides of his head and brain, the autopsy says. He also had multiple bruises, cuts and scrapes on his torso, arms and legs, it says.
Karter was airlifted to UNC Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill for emergency brain surgery, but died on Jan. 1, 2024, wrapped in a blanket covered in family photos that his grandmother brought.
Hines was charged with first-degree ******* and remains in the Wake County Detention Center, where he is awaiting a trial. He could face life in prison if convicted of first-degree *******, court documents show.
Hines told officials his son fell off his bike on Dec. 30, 2023, and hit his head on the pavement, the autopsy says. Karter did not lose consciousness and kept riding his bike, he told officials.
The next morning, Hines said he put Karter in the tub after he wet the bed, the autopsy says. Hines returned to the bathroom after hearing Karter fall, it says. Karter did not lose consciousness, but may have hit his head again, Hines reported.
He put Karter to bed, checking on him at 3:30 p.m., several hours later, it says. Hines told police Karter was “unresponsive and limp,” it says.
A friend arrived about an hour later to drive Hines and Karter to the hospital. They stopped to pick up food and drop it off with her boyfriend on the way, it says. They arrived at 5:10 p.m.
Hines changed parts of his story in subsequent interviews with a child abuse specialist who interviewed family at the hospital, the autopsy says.

Changing story, injuries questioned
Karter’s mother told the specialist that she was “shocked by the bruises,” it says. She also reported that Hines had been “frustrated” before with Karter, who was diagnosed with autism.
Other relatives said Karter had returned from a prior visit with a bruise on the side of his head, the autopsy says.
“His father said (it) was from hitting himself with a toy,” the autopsy reports.
The autopsy’s authors concluded that falling off a bike and in the tub — or even “autistic head ******** behaviors” — could have caused some injuries, but not all of them.
“Injuries affecting multiple planes of the head… are very uncommonly encountered in accidental scenarios unless involving a particularly complex, high-energy mechanism such as a car ****** with roll-over or a long fall down a tall set of stairs,” wrote staff with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh.
“Subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhage can be caused by accidental trauma such as falls in rare instances in children, but inflicted trauma is highly associated with these injuries,” they said.
But even more concerning, they said, is that Hines waited 90 to 130 minutes to get medical help for Karter and, even then, stopped to pick up and deliver food.
“A person with sound judgment should have recognized this as an emergency and called 911. A prompter response and/or closer monitoring by Karter’s caregivers could potentially have saved his life,” they said.

Hunt for Malaysia Airlines MH370 resumes decade after disappearance
The search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has resumed 11 years after the plane disappeared.
The Malaysian Transport Minister confirmed on Tuesday a private firm was again searching for the plane.
MH370 was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014. The plane, 227 passengers and 12 crew have never been found. Six Australians and a New Zealander living in Western Australia were on-board.
The mammoth search covered three million square kilometres above the water and more than 120,000 square kilometres under the sea.

According to a notice published on February 5, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recalling 4,246 cases of Feel Good Foods’ Three Cheese Mac & Cheese Bites due to the potential of contamination with a foreign material. Per the FDA, a Class II recall is the second-most severe risk level a recall event can receive. It indicates a situation in which “the use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
