One man still missing after boat capsized in Arkansas River on Sunday
PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – Pulaski County authorities said a man is still missing after a boat capsized in the Arkansas River on Sunday.
According to a report from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Terry Lock and Dam in response to a capsized boat on the river around 6:46 p.m.
New video shows multi-agency rescue at Arkansas River dam
Authorities said they were initially told by the caller that five people were on the boat when it flipped.
When authorities arrived, they found a man in the water near the dam. Officials said the Little Rock Fire Department rappelled down to secure the man until rescue boats could reach them.
After LRFD and PCSO crews were able to transport the man and the capsized boat to shore, the man was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
When they made contact with the man, authorities said he stated he was the only person aboard the boat but, due to a language barrier, they were unable to immediately get any further details.
PCSO deputies said the man later stated that a second person, identified as 35-year-old Rolando Pacheco, was on the boat when it capsized.
Rolando Pacheco
After this was learned, authorities said the PCSO Water Patrol, LRFD and Scott Fire Department responded to the scene to begin searching for Pacheco, but were unable to find him.

Study Finds Humans Age Faster at 2 Sharp Peaks – Here’s When
Study Finds Humans Age Faster at 2 Sharp Peaks – Here’s When
The progress of a human being through life might be thought of as a mostly gradual succession of changes from the ovum to the grave.
But if you wake up one morning, look in the mirror, and wonder when you suddenly grew so much older, you may not be imagining things.
According to recent research into the molecular changes associated with aging, humans experience two drastic lurches forward, one at the average age of 44 and the other at the average age of 60.
“We’re not just changing gradually over time; there are some really dramatic changes,” geneticist Michael Snyder of Stanford University explained in August 2024 when the study was published.
“It turns out the mid-40s is a time of dramatic change, as is the early 60s. And that’s true no matter what class of molecules you look at.”
Aging is complex, and associated with growing risks of diseases of all kinds.
Snyder and his colleagues have been investigating the biology of aging to better understand what changes occur and how, in order to better mitigate and treat these ailments.
To this end, they have been tracking a group of 108 adults, who have been donating biological samples every few months over several years.
They noticed that in some conditions, such as Alzheimer’s and cardiovascular disease, risk doesn’t rise gradually with time, it escalates sharply after a certain age.
So they wanted to take a closer look at the biomarkers of aging to see if they could identify related changes.
The molecular changes associated with aging show that humans experience two drastic lurches forward. (MixMedia/Canva)
Using the samples from their cohort, the researchers have been tracking different kinds of biomolecules. The different molecules studied include RNA, proteins, lipids, and gut, skin, nasal, and oral microbiome taxa, for a total of 135,239 biological features.
Each participant submitted an average of 47 samples over 626 days, with the longest-serving participant submitting 367 samples. This wealth of data resulted in more than 246 billion data points, which the researchers then processed, looking for patterns in the changes.
Several previous studies have found non-linear changes in molecular abundances that can be linked to aging in rats and humans.
Studies of fruit flies, mice, and zebrafish have also pointed to a stepwise aging process in those species.
Snyder and his colleagues noticed that there’s a very clear change in the abundance of many different kinds of molecules in the human body at two distinct stages.
Around 81 percent of all the molecules they studied showed changes during one or both of these stages. Changes peaked in the mid-40s, and again in the early 60s, with slightly different profiles.
The mid-40s peak showed changes in molecules related to the metabolism of lipids, caffeine, and alcohol, as well as cardiovascular disease, and dysfunctions in skin and muscle.
The early 60s peak was associated with carbohydrate and caffeine metabolism, cardiovascular disease, skin and muscle, immune regulation, and kidney function.
The first peak, the mid-40s, is typically when women start undergoing menopause or perimenopause, but the researchers ruled this out as a main factor: men, too, also underwent significant molecular changes at the same age.
“This suggests that while menopause or perimenopause may contribute to the changes observed in women in their mid-40s, there are likely other, more significant factors influencing these changes in both men and women,” explained metabolomicist and first author Xiaotao Shen, formerly of Stanford, now at Nanyang Technological University Singapore.
“Identifying and studying these factors should be a priority for future research.”
The researchers note that their sample size is pretty small, and they tested limited biological samples, from people between the ages of 25 and 70.
Future research could help delve further into this phenomenon, studying it in more granular detail, across a wider range of subjects, to better understand how the human body changes over time.
The research has been published in Nature Aging.
An earlier version of this article was published in August 2024.

The earliest known North Americans used wooden “vehicles” to transport goods, and possibly even people, more than 20,000 years ago, a new study suggests.
Researchers discovered sled-like drag marks alongside ancient footprints at White Sands National Park in New Mexico — potentially the oldest human footprint site in North America.
Indigenous people consulted in the research suggested that the marks were left by some kind of travois, a wooden frame made from two poles bound together, according to the study, which was published in the January edition of the journal Quaternary Science Advances.
Indigenous groups of the Great Plains (which includes part of New Mexico) used travois pulled by dogs (and later horses) to transport their houses, furniture and other possessions at the time of early contact with European colonizers around 500 years ago. Children and older women also rode in them at that time, according to the study. Based on the size and positioning of the ancient footprints found next to the drag marks, adults likely pulled the travois while children followed, the researchers said.
“Many people will be familiar with pushing a shopping trolley around a supermarket, moving from location to location with children hanging on,” study lead author Matthew Bennett, a professor of environmental and geographical sciences at Bournemouth University in the U.K., said in a statement. “This appears to be the ancient equivalent, but without wheels.”
Related: The 1st Americans were not who we thought they were
Bennett noted that researchers know our ancestors must have used something to carry their possessions as they migrated around the world, but these wooden vehicles have since rotted away. The recently discovered drag marks provide the first indication of how prehistoric people moved heavy loads before wheels, he said.
Researchers began excavating the drag marks site in 2020. At White Sands, trackways are preserved in ancient dried mud buried beneath sediment. Many millennia ago, people trudged through this landscape alongside mammoths, giant ground sloths, camels and many other ice age creatures.
The drag marks consist of lines in the ground extending upward of 165 feet (50 meters). Some of the marks were single lines, which could have been made by two poles bound together at the end (A-shaped). In other cases, there were two parallel lines, likely made by two poles crossed in the middle (X-shaped), according to the statement.

Indigenous people of the Great Plains typically used an A-shaped wooden frame with a connection of bars or net-like baskets to hold objects in place, according to the study. The researchers suspected that ancient people in the region did the same. To test their theory, the team made their own travois out of wooden poles and dragged them along mudflats in the U.K. and along the coast of Maine.

“In our experiments, our footprints and lines in the mud from the poles had the same appearance as the fossilised examples that we found in New Mexico,” Bennett said.
Bennett and his colleagues previously dated the human footprints at White Sands to around 21,000 to 23,000 years ago — challenging the previous assumption that humans arrived in North America 13,000 to 16,000 years ago. Not all researchers agree on the site’s age, but the study authors noted that any dating debate shouldn’t distract from these newly identified features demonstrating ancient Indigenous practices, whatever their age.
“Every discovery that we uncover in White Sands adds to our understanding of the lives of the first people to settle in the Americas,” co-author of the new study Sally Reynolds, a mammalian paleontologist at Bournemouth University, said in the statement. “These people were the first migrants to travel to North America and understanding more about how they moved around is vital to being able to tell their story.”

Ruthless Bayern Munich extend Bundesliga lead
Ruthless Bayern Munich extend Bundesliga lead
Bayern Munich made the most of VfB Stuttgart’s mistakes to post a 3-1 comeback victory to go 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
Friday’s win was a perfect morale booster ahead of next week’s Champions League date with Bayer Leverkusen.
Michael Olise in the 45th, Leon Goretzka in the 64th and substitute Kingsley Coman in the 90th overturned Stuttgart’s lead from Angelo Stiller in the 34th.
Especially Bayern’s second and third were gifts of sorts as Stuttgart couldn’t follow up on a strong first half.
Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nübel first played the ball to Stiller whose pass attempt was intercepted by the lurking Goretzka, and Coman stole the ball from Josha Vagnoman and hit the empty net from a distance.
“It was a lot of work. We didn’t get into the game well but we stayed calm. We did better in the second half and got a deserved victory,” Goretzka told streaming portal DAZN.
Bayern increased their big lead over title holders Leverkusen, who can reduce it to eight points again if they win at third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Bayern host Leverkusen on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie, with the return leg six days later.
Last season’s runners-up Stuttgart remain seventh. They have garnered only four points from the last six games and lost at home for the third time in a row.
“We make it very easy for our opponents to score. It shouldn’t have happened,” Stiller said, and Nübel admitted his pass was “too risky” and “that we made too many mistakes.”
Bayern had striker Harry Kane and left back Alphonso Davies back in the starting 11 from injuries but Joshua Kimmich and Aleksander Pavlovic were missing, and it was Stuttgart who threatened first.
A long ball bounced between two Bayern players into the path of the unmarked Vagnoman who however only managed a tame effort into the arms of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
At the other end, Jamal Musiala aimed wide from a left angle after being set up by Leroy Sane.
Deniz Undav should have then opened the scoring for the hosts but the goal eventually came in the 34th when Stiller smashed into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.
Stuttgart beat Bayern 3-1 at home last season but Bayern were level on the stroke of half-time when Sane’s defence-splitting pass was converted by Olise into the far left corner – and then mainly controlled the action after the break.
Kane’s shot in the 64th was too harmless to beat Nübel, but the lead came a minute lead later when Goretzka pounced to steal the ball from Stiller and fire home.
Vagnoman then lost the ball in midfield to Coman who ran past Nübel who was far out of his penalty area and converted from the right into the empty net.

Zelenskyy leaves White House without signing minerals deal after Oval Office blowup
Zelenskyy leaves White House without signing minerals deal after Oval Office blowup
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump berated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for being “disrespectful” Friday in an extraordinary Oval Office meeting, then abruptly called off the signing of a minerals deal that Trump said would have moved Ukraine closer to ending its war with Russia.
The astonishing turn of events could scramble affairs in Europe and around the globe. During his visit with Trump, Zelenskyy was expected to sign the deal allowing the U.S. greater access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals and hold a joint news conference, but that plan was scrapped after the heated engagement between the leaders in front of the news media.
It’s unclear what the blowup could mean for the deal that Trump insisted was essential to repay the U.S. for the more than $180 billion in American aid sent to Kyiv since the start of the war. And it remains to be seen what, if anything, Trump wants Zelenskyy to do to get the deal back on track.

The Ukrainian leader was asked to leave the White House by top Trump advisers shortly after Trump shouted at him, showing open disdain.
“You’re gambling with World War III, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country that’s backed you far more than a lot of people say they should have,” Trump told Zelenskyy.
The last 10 minutes of the nearly 45-minute meeting devolved into a tense back and forth between Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Zelenskyy, who had urged skepticism about Russia’s commitment to diplomacy, citing Moscow’s years of broken commitments on the global stage.
Zelenskyy’s main objective going into the sit-down had been to press Trump not to abandon his country and to warn against moving too close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Instead he got shouted at while Trump appeared to play up the drama for the cameras.
At one point, Zelenskyy said Putin had broken “his own signature” 25 times on ceasefires and other agreements and could not be trusted. Trump responded that Putin had not broken agreements with him and ducked questions about offering security guarantees to Ukraine, saying he thought the minerals deal — which is now on-hold — would effectively end the fighting.
Things first got testy after Vance challenged Zelenskyy, telling him, “Mr. President, with respect, I think it’s disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media.” Zelensky tried to object, prompting Trump to raise his voice and say, “You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people.”
At another point, Trump declared himself “in the middle” and not on the side of either Ukraine or Russia in the conflict. He went on to deride Zelenskyy’s “hatred” for Putin as a roadblock to peace.
“You see the hatred he’s got for Putin,” Trump said. “That’s very tough for me to make a deal with that kind of hate.”
Trump later told reporters, shortly before departing for his Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida for the weekend, that he wanted an “immediate ceasefire” between Russia and Ukraine but expressed doubt that Zelenskyy was ready to make peace.
Zelenskyy made an appearance on Fox News on Friday evening in which he said his public spat with Trump and Vance was “not good for both sides.” But Zelenskyy said Trump — who insists Putin is ready to end the three-year grinding war — needs to understand that Ukraine can’t change its attitudes toward Russia on a dime.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine won’t enter peace talks with Russia until it has security guarantees against another offensive.
“It’s so sensitive for our people,” Zelenskyy said. “And they just want to hear that America (is) on our side, that America will stay with us. Not with Russia, with us. That’s it.”
Following the meeting, Trump posted on his social media site that he had “determined” that Zelenskyy “is not ready for Peace.”
“He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace,” Trump wrote.
Democrats immediately criticized the administration for the breakdown. Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer said Trump and Vance “are doing Putin’s dirty work.”
The testy discussion was especially surprising since it came a day after Trump struck a more conciliatory tone toward Ukraine, calling America’s support against Russia’s invasion “a very worthy thing to do” and disclaiming any memory that he had called the Ukrainian leader a “dictator.”
Trump and Zelenskyy spoke politely, even with admiration, of each other for the first half hour of the meeting. But, when the Ukrainian leader raised alarm about trusting any promises from Putin to end the fighting, Vance offered his strong rebuke for airing disagreements with Trump in public.
That instantly shifted the tenor of the conversation as Zelenskyy grew defensive and Trump and his vice president blasted him as ungrateful and issued stark warnings about future American support.
“It’s going to be a very hard thing to do business like this,” Trump said to Zelenskyy as the two leaders talked over each other about past international support for Ukraine.
Vance then interjected, “Again, just say thank you.”
Zelenskyy pushed back on Vance, telling him he’s offered his appreciation “a lot of times” to the American people and the president. The Ukrainian leader after leaving the White House expressed his gratitude on social media.
“Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit,” Zelenskyy wrote. “Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.”
But administration officials were not satisfied with Zelenskyy and perceived a “hostility” with him and his body language in the Oval Office, according to a White House official. Trump also objected to the Ukrainian leader bringing up the issue of security guarantees when Trump made clear he wanted to focus on the minerals deal, said the official, who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.
Former President Joe Biden had also grown frustrated at moments with Zelenskyy for being insufficiently grateful of American support, according to former administration officials. But unlike Trump, Biden expressed his displeasure with Zelenskyy privately.
Trump also suggested that Zelenskyy should not be demanding concessions.
“You’re not in a good position. You don’t have the cards right now,” Trump said pointing his finger toward Zelenskyy.
Shortly before the meeting ended, Trump said, “This is going to be great television.”
As Ukrainian forces hold out against slow but steady advances by Russia’s larger and better-equipped army, leaders in Kyiv have sought to ensure any potential U.S.-brokered peace plan would include guarantees for the country’s future security.
Many Ukrainians fear that a hastily negotiated peace — especially one that makes too many concessions to Russian demands — would allow Moscow to rearm and consolidate its forces for a future invasion.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Trump ally who has advocated to keep up American support for Ukraine, said he wasn’t confident that the Trump-Zelenskyy relationship could be repaired.
“I don’t know if you can ever do a deal with Zelenskyy anymore,” the South Carolina Republican said.
Fears that Trump could broker a peace deal with Russia that is unfavorable to Ukraine have been amplified by recent precedent-busting actions by his administration.
Trump held a lengthy phone call with Putin, and U.S. officials met with their Russian counterparts in Saudi Arabia without inviting European or Ukrainian leaders — both dramatic breaks with previous U.S. policy to isolate Putin over his invasion.
European leaders were quick to reinforce their support for Ukraine after the contentious Oval Office meeting.
In a post on X, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Zelenskyy’s “dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people.”
“Be strong, be brave, be fearless,” she added. “You are never alone, dear President.”
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni proposed “an immediate summit” between the United States and European allies “to speak frankly about how we intend to face today’s great challenges, starting with Ukraine.”
“Every division of the West makes us all weaker and favors those who would like to see the decline of our civilization,” she said. “A division would not benefit anyone.”

China manufacturing activity hits three-month high
China manufacturing activity hits three-month high
China’s manufacturing activity returned to expansion in February, an official factory survey shows, indicating that Beijing’s stimulus measures are helping shore up a patchy recovery in the world’s second-largest economy.
The official purchasing managers’ index (PMI) was 50.2 in February, a three-month high, compared to 49.1 in January and above the 50-mark separating growth from contraction. It beat a median forecast of 49.9 in a Reuters poll.
China’s $US18 trillion ($A29 trillion) economy hit the government’s growth target of “around 5 per cent” in 2024 though in an uneven manner, with exports and industrial output far outpacing retail sales while unemployment remained stubbornly high.
Beijing is expected to maintain the same growth target this year, but analysts are uncertain over how quickly policymakers can revive sluggish demand, even as US President Donald Trump’s punitive trade curbs put more pressure on ******** exporters.
To sustain growth and counter rising external pressures, policymakers have pledged higher fiscal spending, increased debt issuance and further monetary easing.
Trump said on Thursday he would slap an extra 10 per cent duty on ******** goods on March 4, on top of the 10 per cent tariff that he levied on February 4 over the fentanyl opioid crisis, to push Beijing to do more to stop the trafficking of the deadly drug.
That would result in a cumulative 20 per cent tariff, which is still lower than the 60 per cent he threatened on the campaign trail.
The non-manufacturing PMI, which includes services and construction, rose to 50.4 from 50.2 in January.
Investors are looking to the annual parliament meeting that will begin on March 5, when the government is expected to unveil fresh stimulus measures, alongside economic targets.
Further support for the struggling property sector and indebted local developers could also be announced, which significantly impact domestic demand and local government finances.
Getting ******** consumers spending again would reduce producers’ exposure to Trump’s tariff threats.
Analysts polled by Reuters forecast the private sector Caixin PMI rose to 50.3, from 50.1 in January. The data will be released on March 3.

Citigroup mistakenly credits customer account with $81 trillion in “near miss”, FT reports
Citigroup mistakenly credits customer account with $81 trillion in “near miss”, FT reports
(Corrects to add dropped word “with” in headline)
(Reuters) – Citigroup erroneously credited $81 trillion, instead of $280, to a customer’s account and took hours to reverse the transaction, a “near miss” that shows up the bank’s operational issues it has sought to fix, the Financial Times reported on Friday.
The error, which occurred last April, was missed by a payments employee and a second official assigned to check the transaction before it was cleared to be processed the next day, FT said, citing an internal account and two people familiar with the event.
A third employee caught the error one-and-a-half hours after the payment was processed and the transaction was ultimately reversed several hours later, FT said.
No funds left Citi, which disclosed the near miss — when a bank processes the wrong amount but is able to recover the funds — to the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the report said.
Citi told FT its “detective controls” promptly identified the error and that it reversed the entry, adding the incident had no impact on the bank or the client.
There were 10 near misses of $1 billion or more at Citi last year, down from 13 the year before, according to an internal report seen by the FT.
Citi declined to comment to FT on this report. It did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Last month Citi CFO Mark Mason said the bank is investing more to address its compliance issues, referring to regulatory penalties for risk management and data governance.
“We saw the need to invest more in the transformation on data, on technology, on improving the quality of the information coming out of our regulatory reporting,” Mason said.
Last July, Citi was fined $136 million for insufficient progress in tackling those issues and in 2020, it was fined $400 million for some risk and data failures.

Asensio double lifts Aston Villa into FA Cup quarters
Asensio double lifts Aston Villa into FA Cup quarters
A clinical second-half double from Marco Asensio has steered Aston Villa into the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time in a decade after a 2-0 win over Cardiff City.
Cardiff’s last win at Villa Park was in 1954 and the visitors never looked like ending that long drought on Friday.
The home side was on top from the start and Cardiff goalkeeper Ethan Horvath was one of the busiest men on the park.
However, the Welsh club defended stoutly and it took Villa until the middle of the second half to finally get the goal their superiority deserved.
Asensio, the Spanish striker who signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window, scored twice in Villa’s 2-1 win over Chelsea last week and he continued to justify the faith of coach Unai Emery in only his third start for the club.
The striker took a cut back from the left from Marcus Rashford, another on-loan signing, and slotted home with his left foot.
Twelve minutes later, he did the same but this time from the right, steadying himself to take an Ollie Watkins pass and side-foot home.
“It was not an easy game,” Asensio told ITV. “We knew it was a difficult game. (I’m) very happy for the goals, for the win. We’re in the next round, that’s the most important.”
The other fifth-round ties will be played on Saturday and Sunday, followed by the draw for the quarter-finals.

Experts track razor-toothed predator as it moves through state’s hidden passages — here’s how it could torpedo the local economy
Alaska’s pristine waterways have long been a sanctuary for native fish — but now, an unexpected threat lurks in these waters, silently disrupting the balance that has existed for generations, reported The Travel.
What’s happening?
Alaska’s waterways are under attack by an unexpected invader: the northern pike.
This razor-toothed predator is secretly moving between freshwater ecosystems, decimating native fish populations. Scientists have discovered the pike can now travel through brackish water, breaking previous assumptions about their movement.
Researchers first traced the fish’s movement by analyzing strontium in their ear stones, a method that provides indisputable evidence of their migration. As Matthew Wooler, lead author of the study, explained: “Strontium varies according to geology and location. If pike are moving between watersheds, you can pick it up by analyzing strontium in the otoliths.”
Why is the northern pike concerning?
The northern pike’s invasion threatens Alaska’s delicate aquatic ecosystems.
Since the 1950s, these fish have illegally populated 150 different water bodies, targeting juvenile salmon and trout. They were introduced by people seeking more sport fishing opportunities, but the consequences have been devastating. As The Travel wrote, the northern pike’s expansion is “causing fish native to the region to dwindle exponentially” — which can have a massive impact on the local fishing and seafood restaurant industries.

Chinook salmon, coho salmon, and rainbow trout populations have dramatically declined. These native fish are being devoured before adulthood, which may push them toward extinction. The northern pike consumes juvenile fish so quickly that entire generations are at risk.
“These populations never have an opportunity to increase as so many never make it to adulthood,” per The Travel, which is a serious concern “for both the freshwater ecosystems as well as the local economy.”
What’s being done about the northern pike?
Alaska’s Division of Sport and Fish is fighting back. Using methods like gill nets, it’s successfully removed northern pike from over 25 waterways — though gill nets have been known to harm other species.
One commenter suggested an innovative approach: “Cash incentives for fishermen, combined with other programs,” could help offset costs and engage the community.
But challenges remain. Chemical treatments are limited because of concerns about drinking water and completely removing the pike seems nearly impossible. With 150 locations still inhabited by these predators, time is running out for Alaska’s native fish.

Palantir’s stock plunge sends its biggest fans to the exits
Palantir’s stock plunge sends its biggest fans to the exits
With Palantir’s stock (PLTR) tanking, its biggest fans — retail investors — are taking a pause.
Retail investor purchases of Palantir’s stock have fallen off a cliff since early February, according to new data from Vanda Research (see chart below). The peak in retail purchases of Palantir came in mid-January as momentum traders rode one of their favorite stocks.
Palantir shares hit a record high on Feb. 18 and have since plunged 32%.
The Palantir retail exodus. · Vanda Research
“Among the top retail-traded stocks, Palantir could be the most vulnerable to a loss of retail momentum. if I were to pick a single name that could be most at risk of an unwind, PLTR would be it,” Vanda Research senior vice president Marco Iachini said.
The Palantir sell-off reflects several factors.
The company revealed this month that outspoken co-founder and CEO Alex Karp — who often takes retail investor questions on earnings calls — adopted a 10b5-1 trading plan for the maximum ***** of 9.975 million shares of Class A common stock. The trading arrangement will last until Sept. 12, 2025.
A plan of this kind allows insiders of public companies to set up a schedule to sell shares in the company over a ******* of time.

The disclosure sent a signal to the bulls that Karp may view the stock as overvalued following a blistering 248% run-up over the past year.
Other Palantir insiders have also been aggressively selling stock, according to Yahoo Finance data.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that new Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered an 8% annual cut in defense spending for the next five years. This is a potential blow to Palantir, which relies heavily on government contracts. The stock’s surge had been driven, in part, by expectations that the Trump administration would ramp up defense spending.
But amid all the buzz, Palantir quietly raised fresh red flags in its annual report — the same day Karp unveiled his new stock trading plan.
For one, Palantir’s headcount grew by just 5% in 2024 after declining 3% in 2023. Over the past two years, the company has added only 98 employees, according to Jefferies tech analyst Brent Thill.

Second, on Feb. 12, the company’s chief accounting officer, Heather Planishek, announced her decision to step down effective Feb. 24. The company’s CFO, David Glazer, will assume her responsibilities on an interim basis.
And third, Palantir continues to overly rely on its biggest customers for business — its top three customers accounted for 17% of revenue in 2024.
Watch: Inside Robinhood CEO’s big vision
“The last time we saw such high magnitudes of [valuation] multiple expansion was during the COVID bubble when many of the high growth names (Snowflake, Crowdstrike, DataDog) benefited from multiple expansion. However, we are now in a more normalized macro environment, and we think any negative factors (decelerating growth, changing interest rates, AI hype turns, insider selling, etc.) may cause Palantir’s multiple to further compress,” Thill explained.

Knapp holds lead in Classic, Aussie Vilips on the rise
Knapp holds lead in Classic, Aussie Vilips on the rise
Jake Knapp finished 11 shots worse than his opening round at the Cognizant Classic but still managed to cling onto the lead halfway through the tournament.
The American made a 15-foot birdie putt on his final hole Friday for a one-under 70 and 13-under-par 129, a one-shot lead over Matthieu Pavon.
Knapp, who made 12 birdies the day before for the 15th round of 59 or lower on the PGA Tour, went 10 holes without a birdie. He had a double bogey when his tee shot found the water. One of his better shots hit a sprinkler cap and bounced 40 yards away.
Knapp wasn’t sure what to expect. It was close to perfect one day and a struggle the next.
“I’ve never had to follow up a 59 at a tournament before. It’s all new to me,” Knapp said. “Yesterday, everything was just clicking ball-striking wise, distance control felt really good, was able to control flight and windows. All that was perfect.”
There was more wind at PGA National. Putts that found the centre of the cup managed to burn the edge.
“A couple of wayward shots, but nothing too concerning,” he said.
One player enjoying a good run is *********** Karl Vilips, who followed his 68 with a 67 to reach seven under in the tournament.
The Jakarta-born player, who only turned professional last year, has jumped 23 spots to be tied 25th.
With only $14,000 ($A22,500) prizemoney earned from two tournaments, Knapp is six behind the lead and in contention for a healthy pay cheque.
Vilips is one ahead of compatriot Min Woo Lee (65), whose brilliant six-under round enabled him to beat the five-under cut by one.
Pavon, the Frenchman who won at Torrey Pines last year, had a 64 and briefly had the lead until narrowly missing a birdie on his last hole to finish one behind.
Daniel Berger went out in 31 to share the lead and didn’t make another birdie the rest of the way. He fell back with a bogey in which he gouged one shot out of the muck and weeds on No.11 and did well to limit the damage.
Berger had a 68 and was at 11-under 131, along with Michael Kim (66), Doug Ghim (63) and Jesper Svensson (67), a rookie who earned his card through the European tour last year.
“I just kind of lost a little steam on the back nine,” Berger said. “I don’t know if I didn’t eat enough food and started to feel a little bit off there. But hit a bad nine-iron, plugged it in the hazard, and I actually got away with one just to make a bogey there.”
Former Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson showed enough game at age 49 to post a 66 and joined Rickie Fowler (68) and Taylor Montgomery at 132.
Jordan Spieth was right there with them, holing a 50-foot birdie putt on the 16th hole. But a day after he birdied all three holes of the “Bear Trap,” the par-3 17th had him for lunch.
Spieth pulled his tee shot into the hazard. His 25-foot par putt drifted four feet by the hole, and he missed the comeback to make triple bogey. A birdie at the 18th gave him a 70, but he was six shots behind going into the weekend.
