  1. Bloodborne’s 700-Plus Page Official Guide Gets Best Discount Yet Bloodborne’s 700-Plus Page Official Guide Gets Best Discount Yet Bloodborne fans can get the official hardcover guidebook for as low as $42.74 at Amazon. The hardcover book is discounted to $57 for all shoppers, but you might be able to get it for $42.74. Amazon is offering an additional 25% off for select customers. Shoppers in the Midwest should be able to take advantage of this deal, and it may be available in other regions, too. If you don’t see a coupon box to click, the offer isn’t available in your region. This doorstopper of a book clocks in at 744 pages, which is roughly 200 pages more than the 2017 Collector’s Edition Guide. This is because the Complete Edition also includes The Old Hunters expansion, which received its own 224-page physical guide in 2015. Along with everything you need to know to 100% the base game and DLC, the guide includes concept art, a deep dive into the lore of Yharnam, an interview with director Hidetaka Miyazaki, and a reference index for in-game lore. Future Press reissued the expanded version of its comprehensive Bloodborne guide last October. The publisher sold out of its inventory months ago, and Amazon has sold out on multiple occasions, too. $42.74 (was $60) with 25% coupon The guide encompasses everything from beginner tips and tricks to a bestiary containing useful info and lore about enemies. It’ll also give you a walkthrough on how to explore every area in the game, including The Old Hunters DLC. The text is accompanied by work of From Software’s concept artists, making this the ultimate companion for fans of the game. Even if you don’t need a traditional “guide,” there’s enough here in terms of art and lore to make it a worthy addition to your shelf. Beyond the walkthrough and accompanying artwork throughout, you’ll get a “bonus chest” with the following content: The Bloodborne Complete Edition Guide also comes with a “bonus chest” that gets you the following goodies: Exclusive interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki The Story of Yharnam lore sections The Art of The Old Hunters: 20 pages of concept art Lore Index with important reference notes on Yharnam Note: This guidebook is technically called Bloodborne Complete Guide 25th Anniversary Edition. The anniversary it’s referring to is for Future Press. The publisher gave the reissue of Dark Souls Trilogy Compendium the same 25th Anniversary Edition moniker. From Software Official Guidebooks Physical guidebooks aren’t very common these days, so they sometimes become collector’s items. Previous editions of this guide have some rather ridiculous eBay listings, and it probably won’t be long before this one is marked up, too. But From Software is one of the few game studios that continues to regularly collaborate with book publishers on guides. Future Press published an official guide for the return of Armored Core in 2023, but unfortunately new copies of this hardcover and the first two volumes of Elden Ring’s Books of Knowledge guidebook series are sold out. Outside of a brief restock in December, Vol. 1 and 2 in Elden Ring’s strategy guide series have been sold out since early 2024. You can, however, still get Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’s official guide for $42 (was $45). It remains to be seen if Elden Ring: Nightreign, which is slated to release May 30, will receive an official guidebook. From Software Art Books Elden Ring Art Books Bloodborne Complete Edition Guide has a ton of official artwork from From Software artists, but for even more, you’ll want to check out Bloodborne Official Artworks, a 256-page paperback published by Udon Entertainment. The publisher has also released a pair of Elden Ring art books and three Dark Souls art books. From Software Graphic Novels From Software Graphic Novels Bloodborne also has an official graphic novel adaptation with six volumes. You can pick up the first three volumes in box set format for $29 at Amazon. Preorders for Bloodborne’s Slipcase Set with Volumes 4-6 are available for $50 at Amazon ahead of its October 14 release. Bloodborne Graphic Novels at Amazon Dark Souls Graphic Novels & Manga at Amazon From Software’s Dark Souls series also has an official graphic novel adaptation as well as a manga that debuted last year. Volume 2 of the Dark Souls: Redemption manga will be published on July 22. Elden Ring Manga at Amazon Speaking of From Software manga, Elden Ring has a manga adaptation, too, but it’s decidedly different from the game, as it’s a comedy. Volume 5 of The Road to the Erdtree was published in January, and Volume 6 releases July 22. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Manga at Amazon Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice hasn’t received as much love in terms of official books, but it did receive an excellent manga titled Sekiro Side Story: Hanbei the Undying. Published by Yen Press in 2020, Sekiro Side Story is discounted to $11 (was $15) at Amazon. 2. Asus RTX 5060 cards range between $340 and $410 in early Best Buy listings — That’s at least $40 above Nvidia’s MSRP Asus RTX 5060 cards range between $340 and $410 in early Best Buy listings — That’s at least $40 above Nvidia’s MSRP A trio of Asus GeForce RTX 5060 graphics cards has been listed at Best Buy in the U.S. (h/t momomo_us). These RTX 5060 retail pages appear to have been published a week too early. Perhaps more importantly, they are coming in at prices significantly above the touted $299 starting price, ranging between $340 and an eye-watering $410. The retailer listings, now deleted, provide prices and may confirm some key details of the yet-to-launch RTX 5060 graphics cards from the Asus Prime (regular and OC) and TUF (OC) families. Nvidia has officially stated it will launch the RTX 5060 exactly a week from now, so perhaps someone at Best Buy had a mix-up with their calendar. We were also expecting pricing at or very close to $299, but these 8GB VRAM cards are priced at up to $110 more for the Asus TUF OC model. The best price is $340 for what is usually Asus’s lowest-tier Prime effort, without any factory overclock applied. You may like Image 1 of 4 (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) A closer look at the Asus RTX 5060 models? After some closer scrutiny, we are sure that many of the details we see on Best Buy are placeholders. While the model names and pricing may very well be correct, details concerning the base/boost clocks (“1 / 2 GHz”) and power requirements (“250W TGP”) look erroneous or lifted from previously launched models. Also, in what would be an unfortunate modern trend, if correct, these graphics cards surely can’t all be 304mm in length, plus the TUF model is listed as 3.25 slots wide… Due to the unfortunate state of the specifications in the Best Buy listings, we can’t share any insightful details from these models. So, for example, we can’t let you know what kind of factory overclock is present with the Asus Prime RTX 5060 OC model. However, we are pretty sure the factory overclock won’t be worth the $40 premium Best Buy is asking. Just before finishing this report, we notice that Best Buy has pulled the listings, so thankfully we screen-grabbed the key details, except from the Prime RTX 5060 OC model retail page which mentioned the price of $380 (or $379.99 to be precise). As a reminder, Nvidia and its partners will officially roll out the RTX 5060 graphics cards a day ahead of Computex 2025, on Monday, May 19. Controversially, reviewers won’t have drivers until that same date, dashing hopes of thorough launch day reviews. This should also be taken as a warning not to buy any RTX 5060 on pre-order. 3. Once under $4, this beaten-up car dealer stock is back from the dead and trending higher Once under $4, this beaten-up car dealer stock is back from the dead and trending higher (This is The Best Stocks in the Market , brought to you by Josh Brown and Sean Russo of Ritholtz Wealth Management.) Josh here — big winners in the stock market often come from unexpected places. Not many know, for example, that the biggest winner in the stock market over the 25 years ending December 2023 was not Apple or Amazon. It was Monster Beverage Corporation (MNST), which annualized at 37.1% per year throughout the ******* — a cumulative gain of more than 268,000%, beating every other continually-traded stock in the index over this timeframe. Monster took an existing category and completely flipped the way it was marketed, distributed and sold. When reading Sean’s portion of our write-up today, it reminded me about the need to be open-minded and follow the research, not give in to our pre-conceived notions about companies or industries. We’re featuring Carvana (CVNA) today, a stock that’s known its share of controversy during the relatively short ******* of time since its IPO in April 2017. The name hit our list of Best Stocks in the Market model and my immediate instinct was “maybe we should skip this one.” But then I realized that’s exactly why we’re keeping this model in the first place — to call attention to the trends that our biases might otherwise make us miss. Carvana may not be your cup of tea or make sense for your portfolio, but it’s a story worth getting to know as the stock approaches its 52-week high. But first, let’s do some sector leadership… Sector Leaderboard As of 5/12/2025 morning, there are 90 names on The Best Stocks in the Market model. The S & P Industrials are now leading the market by headcount, with 20 names from the sector powering ahead. Very few Best Stocks exist currently in materials, real estate and energy, three of the more economically sensitive areas of the market, as of the end of last week. Below we’re showing you the top stocks currently on our list ranked by relative strength. A glance tells you the aerospace names got a boost this week. New addition: Carvana (CVNA) Sean: Carvana’s long term chart literally looks like a roller coaster. The stock last made all time highs during the meme stock era of 2021, alongside names like Peloton, Lucid Motors and the like. When the SPAC bubble popped in 2021 and profitability again became a meaningful metric to Wall Street and retail investors alike, the share price of these companies tanked. Sentiment around these stocks followed. CVNA in particular, was ridiculed for its business model. The thought of putting cars in vending machines was laughable, and the story became a joke, along with its share price. CVNA hit $3.55 a share in December of 2022 after hitting $375 in August of 2022 — more than 99% off all time highs. Whispers of bankruptcy and mismanagement by the company’s founders were in the headlines. The difference between CVNA and everyone else is that they started executing. CVNA is 27% below its all time high and fighting higher. Cathie Wood’s ARK Innovation ETF is 67% below its 2021 high, while both Peloton and Lucid Motors are 96% below their respective highs. CVNA is the fastest growing used automotive retailer in U.S. history (via Carvana). It’s not because they sell cars in a gimmicky vending machine on the side of a highway — CVNA has become the most trusted customer-first e-commerce model for the automotive industry. According to a Gallup poll, 81% of car buyers do not enjoy the process. The auto market is incredibly fragmented. According to Automotive News, 2.3% of market share is taken by the top dealership brand, and 11.1% is the total market share taken by the top 100 dealerships. The fundamentals match the story here. CVNA reported earnings on May 7 — it beat on the top and bottom lines. Revenues were up 38% year-over-year. Net income was up a stunning 6x (from $49 million last year to $373 million this past quarter). Operating margin hit 9.3%, up from 4.4% last year. This is what management had to say on tariffs as it relates to their business: “As it relates to tariffs, I think we’ve heard reasonable arguments that I think are directionally correct that if tariffs drive up car prices, all else constant, that’s bad. And I think we’ve heard reasonable arguments that it would be more likely they would drive up new car prices by more than used car prices. And so it may be a directional benefit to used cars. And it may be a benefit to business models that are able to offer value to consumers, which is a business model that we think we fit in that box.” While CVNA was going over earnings, a closely-watched used car index saw its largest price increase since 2023. Cox Automotive’s Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index — which tracks prices of used vehicles sold at its U.S. wholesale auctions — increased 4.9% year-over-year in April. It’s also important to note this was a 2.7% month-over-month increase — which would be a 32% annualized increase. Automotive prices are going higher, and demand for a value-oriented service offering is in the midst of heating up. Everything is coming together for CVNA and price is reflecting that reality. CVNA is up 34% this year. It is 7% below 52-week highs, above both its 50- and 200-day moving average, and has an RSI of 65. Risk Management Josh: Short-term traders are going to want to watch out for the gap at $255 to make sure trend is intact. If it breaks below that, the 50-day moving average at $211 is in play. For long-term investors, the rising 200-day moving average is a great level for a stop loss, which is right at $205. Bear in mind that this would be a 25% drop so this entry may not be for everyone. 4. Trump’s willingness to accept a luxury jet from Qatar sparks criticism Trump’s willingness to accept a luxury jet from Qatar sparks criticism In this February 15, 2025 a Boeing 747 sits on the tarmac of Palm Beach International airport after US President Donald Trump toured the aircraft on February 15, 2025. Roberto Schmidt | Afp | Getty Images U.S. President Donald Trump’s willingness to accept a lavish jumbo jet from the royal family of Qatar has sparked criticism over the legalities of what would mark the largest foreign gift ever received by U.S. government. Trump is preparing to accept a Boeing 747-8 which he will then use as Air Force One, four sources familiar with the plan told NBC News. The ownership of the gift is expected to be transferred to the Trump presidential library foundation once Trump ends his second term, two of the sources said. A senior Justice Department official told NBC News that the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel prepared a memo, approved by Attorney General Pam Bondi, which approved the legality of the Department of Defense accepting the gift of a 747 from Qatar designed to be used as Air Force One — and then intended to be gifted to Trump after he leaves office. Such a memo has not been released publicly. Speaking to reporters in the White House on Monday, Trump said any acceptance of the aircraft would be due to delays at U.S. manufacturer Boeing, which makes the famed double-deck 747. “You look at some of the Arab countries and the planes they have parked alongside the United States of America plane, it’s like from a different planet,” Trump said. “I have a lot of respect for the leadership and for the leader of Qatar. They knew about [manufacturing delays] because they buy Boeings, they buy a lot of Boeings, and they knew about it and they said we would like to do something. And if we can get a 747 as a contribution to our defense department to use for a couple of years while they’re building the other ones, I think that was a very nice gesture,” Trump continued. ‘Foreign influence’ Democratic lawmakers and Trump allies have sharply criticized the reported move, saying the lavish nature of the gift raises serious legal and ethical concerns. “I don’t know who needs to hear this, but NO, Donald Trump cannot accept a $400 million flying palace from the royal family of Qatar,” U.S. Senator for Vermont Bernie Sanders said on social media platform X. “Not only is this farcically corrupt, it is blatantly unconstitutional. Congress must not allow this over-the-top kleptocracy to proceed,” Sanders said. Meanwhile, Laura Loomer, a far-right ally of Trump, said accepting Qatar’s plane would be a “stain” on the Trump administration. In a post on Truth Social, however, Trump appeared to defend the prospect of Qatar gifting his administration the plane. “So the fact that the Defense Department is getting a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE, of a 747 aircraft to replace the 40 year old Air Force One, temporarily, in a very public and transparent transaction, so bothers the Crooked Democrats that they insist we pay, TOP DOLLAR, for the plane,” Trump said. The news comes as Trump prepares to visit Qatar this week on what will be his first major foreign trip of his second term. Ali Al-Ansari, Qatar’s Media Attaché, told CNBC that any reports that the jet would be gifted during the trip were inaccurate. “The possible transfer of an aircraft for temporary use as Air Force One is currently under consideration between Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense, but the matter remains under review by the respective legal departments, and no decision has been made,” Al-Ansari said. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News she wasn’t worried about Qatar expecting something in return for the plane, saying that they know Trump “only works with the interests of the American public in mind.” In a statement provided to CNBC on Monday, Leavitt said: “Any gift given by a foreign government is always accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws. President Trump’s Administration is committed to full transparency.” The plane will not be presented to the president this week while Trump is in the region, according to a White House official who was granted anonymity to describe an evolving situation Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer argued that accepting such a gift welcomed “foreign influence.” “Nothing says ‘America First’ like Air Force One, brought to you by Qatar. It’s not just bribery, it’s premium foreign influence with extra legroom,” Schumer said on X. Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-Pa) told MSNBC’s The Weekend: **********, “I know that many people at this point might be numb to this, but we can never allow ourselves to get numb. And even if polls show its not the issue that’s top of mind for most voters, I’m sorry but right and wrong still matter,” Boyle said. “We have to pursue this legally in the courts, we have to raise public awareness. It is absolutely remarkable, the record levels of corruption that we’re seeing,” he added. – CNBC’s Emma Graham contributed reporting Source link #Trumps #willingness #accept #luxury #jet #Qatar #sparks #criticism Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  6. Intergalactic actor reveals Neil Druckmann’s coaching on overcoming online harassment Intergalactic actor reveals Neil Druckmann’s coaching on overcoming online harassment The star of Naughty Dog’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has said that Neil Druckmann has been “bootcamping” her on dealing with online backlash. Tati Gabrielle, who plays Jordan, the protagonist of Naughty Dog‘s next game, has said that Naughty Dog’s Druckmann has been coaching her on how to deal with online backlash, based on the experience of The Last of Us’s cast. “Neil’s been bootcamp-ing me,” she told EW. “I know Troy’s experience, I know Ashley’s experience…I know Laura Bailey’s experience. “I got a lot of love, but there was a lot of hate over me being a woman, me being a woman of color, me having my head shaved, all these things that I didn’t even actually initially see — I’m out of the social media zeitgeist for that reason — but once I did, Neil was like, ‘Ignore it. No matter what, me and you, we’re going to make something beautiful. We’re going to make something that we’re proud of.’” Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was announced during The Game Awards in 2024. The game features a sci-fi setting, and its debut trailer includes a Porsche spaceship. The game’s soundtrack is being composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. “Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago,” reads a synopsis for the game. Neil Druckmann has said that while The Last of Us series is about grief, the next game from Naughty Dog will be about faith and religion. Tati Gabrielle expanded on those themes as part of the same interview. “The question of faith is not ****** and white,” she explained. “When you initially think of faith, you think of religion, which is a part of it, but there’s also faith in oneself. There’s faith in your environment or your community. All that faith means is, What are your beliefs? What are the things that you hope for? Faith sounds flowery, but we all experience it day in and day out. What is your reason for waking up?” Druckmann said last July that numerous games, including “multiple single-player projects”, were in development at Naughty Dog, but stressed that while they won’t all be The Last of Us titles, they will have a similar goal. “We create experiences that are steeped in story and character, especially relationships,” he told the LA Times. “The stories have some sort of philosophical core that everything is going to revolve around and feed into.” It was claimed last year that Naughty Dog’s next game will have a significant focus on player freedom. One answer might be that these structures, known as Dyson spheres, will likely destroy themselves before we can spot one, according to new calculations. The idea of structures that can siphon off most of the energy from their stars was first proposed by physicist Freeman Dyson in the 1960s. 8. What is an emergency notification system? What is an emergency notification system? An emergency notification system is an automated approach to crisis communications that contacts people within an organization and distributes important information during a disruption. Following an outage or other disruptive event, an organization must determine the severity and potential impact of the incident, and then communicate with employees, management and other key stakeholders. Emergency notification systems relay corporate communications in real time, through phone messages, texts and emails. How does an emergency notification system work? An emergency notification system contains a database of names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and social media contacts. When activated, the system can send thousands of messages within minutes. It can also receive and process incoming messages from recipients about their status. Systems can be in-house (non-hosted) or managed services (hosted). Traditional emergency notification functions took place on-site, with a database connected to the internet or telephone company to send out messages. A non-hosted emergency notification system uses an internal database to send and receive messages. With a hosted system, users access those resources through a phone or the internet, launch the notification process, and remotely manage successive activities. Some vendors have started to incorporate artificial intelligence and machine learning into emergency notification systems. Organizations of any size can implement an emergency communications plan. It is especially vital if there are multiple office locations to coordinate between or many employees and stakeholders to contact. Organizations that could affect nearby communities, such as those that deal with hazardous materials, must have these lines of communication in place to reach employees and local residents. In a hosted emergency notification system, an outside provider launches and manages emergency communications. Implementing an emergency notification system When planning an emergency notification system, organizations must do the following: Analyze anticipated requirements and determine if the number of employees is sufficient to justify the investment. Check if existing technology features can be used in the system. Confirm that the network infrastructure has sufficient bandwidth to handle such a system during an emergency. Allow enough time to develop the database and conduct user training. Determine how to integrate the system into a business continuity and disaster recovery plan. It is crucial to keep emergency notification systems up to date. Systems that use a combination of voice, text and email notifications are more likely to be successful than single notification methods, as it’s unlikely that an employee would change all their contact information at once. In addition, a cellphone network could go down during a disaster, while an email system could still be functional. The entire system should also be tested on a regular basis — for example, using calls and message blasts. While a call tree might have been a viable option in the past, it is no longer sustainable. A call tree is time-consuming, and if one person cannot be reached, the process can break down. It can still be used as a supplement to the notification system. Pricing and vendors Prices for a standalone emergency notification system can cost up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Managed offerings are available for a monthly fee that is typically based on the number of contacts, features in use and network services needed. There might also be setup fees when the database is built, as well as activation fees when the system is used in a disaster. Monthly fees can run more than $25,000. Vendors include AlertMedia, Alertus Technologies, Everbridge, F24, InformaCast Mobile, OnSolve, Rave Mobile Safety, Red Flag Alert, SwiftReach and Visiplex. 9. These 3 ETFs Are the Smartest Hedges Against S&P 500 Volatility These 3 ETFs Are the Smartest Hedges Against S&P 500 Volatility Markets go through different cycles, both taking on uptrends and downtrends as money needs to exchange hands from sellers to buyers and vice versa. However, there is another cycle that needs to be considered by both investors and traders, and this is the one that can often define the fate of portfolios and retirements moving forward. This cycle measurement is volatile. Through the widely known volatility index (), investors can benchmark how calm (or fearful) the market is currently. Not only does the VIX measure the psychological state of the market, but it also often dictates where capital flows in and out of, sort of in a systematic way that is becoming increasingly the normal operating mandate at investment banks and other entities in the market. Now that the index is starting to trend in a specific direction higher, capital might flow into (and out of) in the coming months. With this in mind, a few products and assets can act as a great hedge to the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust DRC (BCBA:), where most investors are likely exposed to the S&P 500 index. The first step that can be taken staying inside the world of stocks, can be the consumer defensive sector, where investors can consider the broader Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund as a great hedge to start, and before going over the rest, here’s why this one is a great beginning. 1. XLP: Capital Understands Cycles Better Over the past quarter, which has seen the VIX start to pick up a bit above the previous trends, investors can note that this consumer staples exchange-traded fund (ETF) outperformed the broader S&P 500 index by as much as 8% during this *******, signaling deeper underlying confidence that this area of the economy will be the one to outperform in the future. Zooming into the market activity behind this outperformance, the trends start to become a bit clearer as well, considering that up to $1.6 billion went into the ETF over the past quarter, with an additional $855 million in buying during the most recent quarter (which is only made up of April and May 2025 so far). This is another sign of confidence and higher expectations for the sector to keep outperforming the rest of the market in the coming months, and for good reason. As volatility goes higher in the broader market, capital seeks the safe havens typically found in this ETF and its holdings, which are mostly recession, tariff, and volatility-proof. 2. TLT: Fundamental Rotations Lead to Bonds Then there is another systematic rotation that usually takes place when the S&P 500 becomes too volatile to hold or keep investing in, and that is the world of bonds. Bonds are the “safe haven” of preference for institutions to start accumulating during times of uncertainty and volatility (such as today), due to their underlying safety and income. Today, looking into the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:), this theme becomes apparent, though more subtly. As the Federal Reserve (the Fed) waits to see additional inflation and employment data to decide the right time to cut interest rates, the price of these bonds remains compressed, but that might not be for long. Noticing that the dividend payout of $3.78 per share in this bond ETF translates into an annualized dividend yield of up to 4.35%, investors can see that the falling inflation rates and fears of a bear market continuing from here make bonds an asymmetrical place to be in, with much more upside potential. To understand this, investors must know that the yield on bonds (or, in this case, the ETF dividends) usually reflects the inflation outlook, and a 4.35% inflation rate is a thing of the past. Because of this, bonds and bond ETFs are attractive propositions to portfolios today, alongside their underlying stability and compressed volatility. This is why the bond ETF also outperformed the broader during the quarter, signaling that some capital might have gone into these products, with no signs of leaving them just yet. 3. Emerging Markets: Another Worthy Mention One macro belief to come out of these trade tariffs is the potential for a weakening ahead, and that always makes room for upside in emerging markets. When it comes to rewards versus risk, looking into China’s stock market makes more sense than ever. When tariff deals are resolved and uncertainty is removed from the equation, those who left China’s investment arena will likely come back into it, though by the time that rotation becomes apparent, it will already be too late. This is why today is the best time to consider the iShares MSCI China ETF (NASDAQ:) for portfolio hedging. With names like Alibaba (NYSE:) Group and other big names in technology making up a large percentage of the ETF’s holdings, investors can expose themselves to serious upside potential when these deals are announced for trade agreements. Raducanu, ranked 49th in the world, lost 6-1 6-2 on the Rome clay to American Gauff. For the first time in her career, the British number two had won three clay-court matches in a row to reach the fourth round in the Italian capital. But any hopes she could cause a shock against 21-year-old Gauff were soon extinguished. Like Raducanu in 2021, Gauff’s sole major victory so far came on the hard courts of the US Open two years ago but on Monday she showed why she is also a force on the red dirt. Gauff, who reached the French Open final three years ago, returned superbly from the start and also dug deep in service games when required. More to follow. 11. Why Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Free-Roam Campaign Was Changed Why Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Free-Roam Campaign Was Changed The upcoming remake of the beloved Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is coming this summer, and it boasts a number of redone maps, new skate parks, and both new and returning skaters. However, developer Iron Galaxy is also changing THPS 4’s original campaign structure to standardize it with THPS 3. This decision has been controversial among fans, but Iron Galaxy recently explained that its goal is to produce a pair of remakes as compatible with one another as possible. In a preview of the remakes published by Game Informer, Iron Galaxy explained that it views its role as making the most cohesive package it can. Because it is selling THPS 3 and 4 as a single bundle, it is attempting to create something as integrated as the acclaimed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, which was developed by Vicarious Visions back in 2020. Design manager Mike Rossi explained, “Our goal here is to make the ultimate package of 3 and 4. So ultimately, we felt that taking it into feeling more towards the 3 format, as opposed to what 4 did originally, was a better representation for a cohesive package that we were making.” You need a javascript enabled browser to watch videos. As GameSpot reported back in March, the THPS 4 remake does away with the original campaign format of completing challenges at the player’s choosing, but it will have Free Skate, Speed Run, and Single Session modes. You’ll need to complete challenges within set time limits, as was standard in the first three games. Iron Galaxy appears to be letting players customize this timer in THPS 4 to complete things at their own pace, as reported by VGC. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 launches on July 15 essentially everywhere: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC. In addition to classic skaters like Tony Hawk and Bob Burnquist and skateparks like Alcatraz and Airport, the remakes will bring new content like a playable Doomslayer and a new Waterpark map. Texas Boy Made Secret Service Agent by Trump Unites Law Enforcement, Sets Record in St. Louis Texas Boy Made Secret Service Agent by Trump Unites Law Enforcement, Sets Record in St. Louis In a world often searching for heroes, 13-year-old DJ Daniel is proving that true courage comes not from strength, but from spirit and faith. Diagnosed with terminal brain ******* at age six, DJ is on a mission to be sworn into every law enforcement agency in the country. In St. Louis, Missouri, he made history in April when more than 203 departments swore him in simultaneously. The emotional ceremony, which set a world record, was the brainchild of Detective Steve Runge of the Berkeley Police Department, who was so moved by DJ’s story, he decided to act. What began as an idea to send DJ a small token of support turned into a massive event uniting officers from across Missouri and beyond. “The kid just captured my heart. At first, I thought maybe I’d send him some police swag,” Runge said. “I went home, and I thought, we can do better than that. I started making phone calls and it just exploded. I think the draw with DJ is love and hope.” ***Please sign up for CBN newsletters and download the CBN news app to ensure you receive the latest news.*** DJ’s goal of joining 1,000 agencies is more than a bucket list, it’s a lifeline. Despite enduring 13 brain surgeries and facing an aggressive, incurable *******, DJ credits his strength to divine intervention. “On my 13th brain surgery, God gave me my wings,” DJ said. “But he said, ‘I’m gonna take these back from you, because you don’t get these wings until you graduate the school of life.'” His father, Theodis Daniel, has been by his side every step of the way. “Every day is a good day as in it opens his eyes. He’s got another heartbeat. His feet hit the ground,” Theodis said. “Ain’t nothing he ain’t going to be able to accomplish.” DJ first captured the public’s heart when President Donald Trump recognized him during a 2025 speech to Congress. Since then, he has appeared in a Secret Service recruitment video, received thousands of invitations from departments nationwide, and even received a Cybertruck from Elon Musk to help him travel. “I know that I made America great again,” DJ said with a smile. “Usually that’s Trump’s job.” READ ******* Survivor Honored by Trump Now Sworn-In as State Trooper by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders At the St. Louis event, law enforcement officers from agencies all over the region came together not just to recognize DJ, but to stand for something greater. “To come together for a positive reason to honor such a young, courageous man is truly humbling for all of us,” said Chief Zim Schwartze of the Missouri Capitol Police. “Makes me think about the bad days that I think I’m having, and how really they’re not bad,” added Trooper Andrew Gadberry of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. “He’s very strong for what he’s going through,” said Brad Schwarberg of the University City Police. But DJ didn’t let the spotlight stop with him. He surprised nine other young ******* patients by making them honorary officers, too. “I have a friend that is DJ. He’s my person,” said Zephany Bolduc, who came to cheer DJ on. One of the most poignant moments came when Michael Brown Sr., whose son’s 2014 death in nearby Ferguson became a flashpoint in a national debate on policing, accepted Theo’s invitation to stand alongside law enforcement to badge DJ instead of him. “I’m a father too,” said Theodis Daniel. “And it’s just like, what can I do to make this a lot better for everybody?” DJ’s journey also brought him to the pitcher’s mound at Busch Stadium, where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch as a special guest of the St. Louis Cardinals. MORE Father of Honored ******* Survivor Says He Was Offered Money to Leave Spotlight, Demands Apology for Son’s Mistreatment When asked about the role of faith in their journey, Theodis said, “It’s been all of it.” Doctors say DJ will eventually lose his ability to walk. His father has already made peace with what comes next. “I’ll carry him to ceremonies,” Theodis said. “And if God decides to say, ‘I need what belongs to Me back,’ then I’ll carry him home.” With every badge, DJ Daniel isn’t just fulfilling a childhood dream, it’s his testimony – one that’s changing hearts, bridging divides, and reminding the nation that even the smallest officer can make the biggest impact. “Stay blessed. 14. Aussies tipped to spend $80bn to save on power bills Aussies tipped to spend $80bn to save on power bills Households are spending billions in upgrading to more sustainable and energy-efficient products, but it is an investment to lower their electricity bills over environmental concerns. A report released by REA Group with Origin found that half of Australians are looking to make their homes more sustainable, as they see it as a way of saving on their electricity bills. When homeowners were asked the reasons why they would switch to more energy-efficient appliances, 68 per cent said it was due to cost of living and the price of energy, outweighing the 55 per cent who cited environmental concerns. But saving money on their power bills will come at a huge cost over the short term, with the average household planning to spend $7,50 on energy-efficient improvements over the next five years, signalling a potential spend of more than $80bn nationwide. Camera IconAustralians are tipped to spend $80bn on upgrading products in and around their homes. Picture Supplied Credit: Supplied REA Group senior economist Eleanor Creagh said the rising cost of living had placed affordability at the forefront of household concerns, with homeowners and renters seeking solutions to reduce energy bills. “Making the switch to all-electric appliances in the home could help save costs, reduce energy use and lower carbon emissions,” she said. “Yet, upfront costs and knowledge gaps are significant barriers preventing many from adopting energy-efficient features.” Just shy of two in three respondents said property owners should be responsible for improving energy efficiency in established homes, while about half put some of the onus on either the federal or state government. The findings follow the quarterly consumer price index data released by the *********** Bureau of Statistics that showed quarterly growth in housing was driven by a spike in electricity prices, which were up 16.3 per cent. Camera IconHouseholds want more bang for their buck. NewsWire / Luis Enrique Ascui Credit: News Corp Australia The rise was driven by increased electricity prices in Brisbane, where most households have used up the $1000 Queensland state government electricity rebate. resulting in higher out-of-pocket electricity costs. The report also found that only 34 per cent of respondents had a good understanding of the benefits of “electrification”, a term that those under the age of 35 knew least about. Origin retail executive general manager Jon Briskin said while saving money was a huge motivator for Australians, many didn’t know where to start. “Small changes to energy habits and upgrading to more efficient appliances within their budget is a good starting point for many households,” he said. Ms Creagh said Aussies with a greater understanding of energy-efficient appliances were more likely to convert their property to electricity compared with those with no knowledge. “It’s clear that people with a good understanding of energy efficiency are more likely to make upgrades to their home and alter their behaviour to reduce energy use. This indicates that wider education is crucial to improving energy efficiency across Australia,” she said. 15. U.S. inks bill to force geo-tracking tech for high-end gaming and AI GPUs U.S. inks bill to force geo-tracking tech for high-end gaming and AI GPUs Last week, a U.S. congressman announced a plan to introduce a bill that would mandate producers of high-performance AI processors to track them geographically in a bid to limit their usage by unauthorized foreign actors, such as China. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas then introduced a legislative measure later in the week. The bill covers hardware that goes way beyond just AI processors, and would give the Commerce Secretary power to verify the location of hardware, and put mandatory location controls on commercial companies. To make matters even more complicated, geo-tracking features would be required for high-performance graphics cards as well. The bill covers a wide range of products classified as 3A090, 4A090, 4A003.z, and 3A001.z export control classification numbers (ECCNs), so advanced processors for AI, AI servers (including rack-scale solutions), HPC servers, and general-purpose electronics of strategic concern due to potential military utility or dual-use risk. It should be noted that many high-end graphics cards (such as Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 5090) are also classified as a 3A090 product, so it looks like such add-in-boards will also have to add geo-tracking capabilities. The first and central provision of the bill is the requirement for tracking technology to be embedded in any high-end processor module or device that falls under the U.S. export restrictions. This condition would take effect six months after the legislation is enacted, which will make the lives of companies like AMD, Intel, and Nvidia harder, as adding a feature to already developed products is a tough task. The mechanism must allow verification of a chip’s or device’s physical location, enabling the U.S. government to confirm whether it remains at the approved endpoint. Yet, exporters would be obliged to keep track of their products. You may like The bill authorizes the Secretary of Commerce to verify the ownership and location of regulated processors and systems after export and maintain a centralized registry of current locations and end-users. Nvidia, as well as other exporters, would also be obligated to inform the Bureau of Industry and Security if there is evidence that a component has been redirected from its authorized destination. Additionally, any indications of tampering or manipulation must be reported. The bill, if supported by lawmakers, will mandate a one-year study to be conducted jointly by the Department of Commerce and the Department of Defense, which will identify additional protective measures that could be introduced in the future. Beyond the initial study, the same two departments are required to conduct yearly assessments for three consecutive years following the bill’s enactment. These reviews must evaluate the most current advancements in security technologies applicable to products under export control. Based on these assessments, the departments may determine whether new requirements should be imposed. If the assessment concludes that additional mechanisms are appropriate, the Commerce Department must finalize rules within two years requiring covered chips and systems to incorporate these secondary features. A detailed implementation roadmap must also be submitted to the relevant congressional committees. All development and deployment of these mechanisms must preserve the confidentiality of sensitive commercial technologies. Finally, the legislation emphasizes confidentiality in all stages of developing and applying these new technical requirements. Any proposed safeguards or tracking features must be designed and implemented in a way that protects the proprietary information and trade secrets of American developers, such as AMD, Intel, and Nvidia. This condition ensures that while national security is strengthened, industrial competitiveness is not undermined. Get Tom’s Hardware’s best news and in-depth reviews, straight to your inbox. Also, the senator takes into account the lengthy development cycle of AI and HPC processors. While the goal is to tighten security (which is why chip developers will be obliged to add location tracking to their products six months after the bill’s enactment), the structure of the bill deliberately stretches out decision-making and compliance timelines to accommodate industry realities. The call for gradual adoption of future safeguards acknowledges the slow pace of chip development cycles, meaning that full compliance could take years depending on what mechanisms are eventually required. Meanwhile, annual export control reform recommendations may introduce further changes or exceptions over time, adding to the complexity. 16. Analyst-Favorite Bitcoin Miner CleanSpark: Worth the Hype? Analyst-Favorite Bitcoin Miner CleanSpark: Worth the Hype? CleanSpark Inc (NASDAQ:) is a mining firm with operations throughout the Southeastern and Southwestern United States. While many companies focus on cryptocurrency mining, CleanSpark’s unique background, which was an energy resource firm and then a clean microgrid energy company for many years before entering the crypto space, makes it stand out. The firm has no shortage of enthusiasts. Despite shares declining about 15% so far in 2025, it is the recipient of seven Buy ratings from analysts across Wall Street. These include ratings provided in recent weeks by firms including Chardan Capital and Needham & Co. Further, analysts have set a consensus price target of $21.57 for CLSK shares, approaching triple the current share price. Investors will want to know if CleanSpark can live up to the hype amid the latest Bitcoin rally, particularly those investors reluctant to enter a position in a firm linked with the volatile cryptocurrency space. While CleanSpark does exist in a turbulent and ever-changing industry, it has noted numerous achievements that help to set it apart from other firms attempting similar operations. Bitcoin and No HPC or AI CleanSpark’s advantage over some of its competitors is that it has focused primarily on Bitcoin mining for the last several years, forgoing a broader approach that might also include high-performance computing (HPC) or AI applications. This is evidenced by CleanSpark’s modest decline YTD compared to that of other competitors, even mining operations like MARA Holdings Inc., which has fallen by about 23% in the same *******. This efficiency of operations is reflected in CleanSpark’s costs associated with mining. The company said its costs to mine a Bitcoin in the final quarter of 2024 were roughly $34,000, lower than those of many competitors with a broader range of operations and services. Growing Capacity While Maintaining Energy Efficiency CleanSpark has grown its computing capacity to allow it to maintain or even grow its mining rates. For April 2025, the company achieved an average hash rate of over 40 EH/s, or exahash per second (reflecting one quintillion hashes per second). The higher a miner’s hash rate, the greater the number of computations they complete per second, and the better their chances of successfully mining Bitcoin become. This growth has been possible thanks to CleanSpark’s background as a clean energy firm, allowing it to improve its mining capacity while maintaining efficiency. The company mined 633 Bitcoin in April 2025, reaching a total Bitcoin holding of more than 12,000 by the end of the month. In March, the company set a record production of more than 700 Bitcoin. It plans to continue increasing output by close to 20% this year. Financials Provide Stability Despite Coin Fluctuations Even as Bitcoin’s price swings up and down, sometimes wildly, CleanSpark’s financial standing provides it with some key stability. First, its low costs-to-mine give it an advantage over competitors in terms of gross margin. As production levels increase, this should only help to strengthen CleanSpark’s position. The company has been largely successful in maintaining market discipline regarding its Bitcoin sales. In April, CleanSpark sold more than 401 Bitcoin at an average price above $90,000, even as Bitcoin’s price hovered below that figure for more than two-thirds of the month. CleanSpark has also taken steps to ensure its budget remains viable, recently securing a $200-million revolving credit facility with Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:) Inc., which should allow it to continue successfully managing its liquidity and operational expenses. At current price levels, CleanSpark’s Bitcoin reserves total about $1.2 billion, while its total market capitalization is $2.3 billion. The company is not the best value prospect among Bitcoin miners—its price-to-sales ratio of 4.86 is not as compelling, for example, as that of Hut 8 Corp (NASDAQ:)., as the latter firm comes in at 1.98. However, CleanSpark’s unique efficiency, its savvy handling of its Bitcoin reserves and sales, and the prospect of increased production going forward all lend credence to widespread analyst optimism around this company. 20. Apple Said to be Considering Hiking iPhone Prices Apple Said to be Considering Hiking iPhone Prices Apple is weighing price hikes for its upcoming fall iPhone lineup but is keen to avoid linking any increases to US tariffs on imports from China, where most of its devices are assembled, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The technology giant’s shares were up seven percent in premarket trading, tracking gains in the wider market after Washington and Beijing agreed to temporarily slash the reciprocal tariffs on Monday. But ******** imports will still be subject to a 30 percent levy in the US. Apple is among the most prominent firms caught in US-China trade tensions, which intensified in recent months after a series of tariffs initiated by President Donald Trump. The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on the WSJ report, which cited people familiar with the matter. Raising prices could help Apple cushion higher costs stemming from the tariffs that have hampered global supply chains and forced the company to shift more production to India. Apple said earlier this month that tariffs were expected to add about $900 million (roughly Rs. 7,638 crore) in costs during the April-June quarter and that it would source a majority of the iPhones sold in the US in the ******* from India. Analysts have for months speculated about a price increase from Apple, but warned that such a move could cost it market share, especially as rivals such as Samsung try to attract consumers with AI features that Apple has been slow to roll out. The cheapest iPhone 16 model was launched in the US with a sticker price of $799, but could cost as much as $1,142 (roughly Rs. 96,918) due to tariffs, per projections last month from Rosenblatt Securities, which say the cost could rise by 43 percent. The WSJ report said Apple was planning on coupling the price hikes with new features and design changes including an ultrathin design, which could help justify the increases. Amazon.com was in the crosshairs of the White House last month after its low-cost Haul unit weighed listing import charges due to US tariffs, prompting the Trump administration to accuse the company of engaging in a hostile political act. © Thomson Reuters 2025 (This story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is auto-generated from a syndicated feed.) 22. It is a primary tool in your kit “It is a primary tool in your kit” The Doom franchise doesn’t need an introduction, as it has successfully established itself as one of the most popular video game series of all time. The early games in the series have played a key role in popularising the first-person shooter genre, and with each video game, id Software has pushed the boundaries. The franchise’s track record isn’t exactly perfect, but the revival of the franchise in 2016 repopularised the series once again. At the 2024 Xbox Showcase, id Software revealed the next chapter in the Doom series, Doom: The Dark Ages. The game will be the third installment in the modern series and will serve as a prequel to Doom (2016). The game’s director, Hugo Martin, has shared some interesting information about the game, revealing some key gameplay elements. The shield in Doom: The Dark Ages can be upgraded Players are extremely excited to try out all the crazy weapons in Doom: The Dark Ages; however, the Shield Saw has managed to steal the show. The previous installment focused on speed, but The Dark Ages‘ primary focus is on “stand and fight,” and the shield is perfect for this. In a recent interview with GameRant, Hugo Martin, the game’s director, revealed that the shield can be upgraded. He said, [The shield] feels really strong, and you can upgrade it and make it even stronger. You can also throw the shield and kill as many demons as you can hit with it, so it is a primary tool in your kit. It’s in your left hand and up on the screen the whole time you’re dual-wielding. The blade addition to the shield is due to these upgrades, and similarly, there are many more upgrades for the shield that will make it stronger. Plus, being able to use it as an offensive weapon also makes it quite versatile. Martin explained that the shield is like “web-slinging in a Spider-Man game.” It is a crucial part of the combat, and players will definitely find themselves engaging in combats with it. The gameplay in Doom: The Dark Ages is more grounded Doom: The Dark Ages is inspired by the original Doom game (Image via id Software) Further in the interview, Martin explained what players can expect from the game. As compared to Doom Eternal, the gameplay in The Dark Ages is much more grounded. He explained that players were an F22 fighter jet in Doom Eternal, but in Dark Ages, they are going to be an Abrams tank. The game is inspired by the original Doom, so players should expect a very grounded experience. With the shield, players can use new weapons like the Skull Crusher, a gun that fires bone fragments at enemies, and melee weapons such as a gauntlet, an iron mace, and a flail. As for the storyline, the game will deep dive into the Doom Slayer’s origins. Doom: The Dark Ages is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on May 15, 2025. Hollie Pearne-Webb: Great Britain’s Olympic champion and captain retires from hockey Hollie Pearne-Webb: Great Britain’s Olympic champion and captain retires from hockey “It’s hard to put into words just how much this sport has given me,” Pearne-Webb said. “What started as a dream when I was just eight years old – to one day play for my country at the Olympics – became a journey that’s been greater than anything I could have imagined. “One of the greatest honours has been leading England and Great Britain over the past six years. Captaining this team at two Olympic Games and a home Commonwealth Games has been an immense privilege. “Walking the team out last summer in Paris, in front of friends and family, was a truly special moment and one I’ll never forget.” Pearne-Webb amassed 274 combined caps, including appearances at three Olympic Games. Five years after scoring the gold medal-winning goal in Rio, Pearne-Webb captained GB to another Olympic podium when they beat India 4-3 to win bronze in Tokyo. One year later she led England’s women to a first Commonwealth Games gold, beating Australia in the final in Birmingham. Great Britain reached the quarter-finals at the Paris Games last year, losing to eventual champions the Netherlands. “I’ll always be proud to have worn the shirt, and I’ll always be a supporter of the incredible players coming through,” said Pearne-Webb. “Hockey has shown me that anything is possible – and I’ll forever be thankful for that. “Thank you, hockey. This special-edition printing of Akira released on March 4 for $35, and if previous editions in the same vein are any indication, it probably won’t be available indefinitely. The regular 4K Blu-ray edition of Akira costs $18.64 (was $30) at the moment, so the deal on the Steelbook Edition likely won’t be up for grabs for long. Widely regarded as one of the best anime films of all time, Akira debuted in 1988 and remains popular nearly three decades later. The steelbook case is emblazoned with Katsuhiro Otomo’s incredible art against a striking red backdrop. $20 (was $35) Like previous 4K releases, Akira’s Limited Edition Steelbook is loaded with special features that go behind the scenes of the movie, like documentaries focused on the groundbreaking animation, a closer look at Akira’s soundtrack, and several other archival materials. Akira is set in an alternate and dystopian future version of Tokyo that is still reeling from a mysterious event that destroyed most of the city and triggered a new world war. From the ashes rose Neo-Tokyo, but with the metropolis plagued by corruption and gang violence, it’s not the best place to call home. The film focuses on Shotaro Kaneda, leader of a motorcycle gang, who finds himself at odds with his childhood friend Tetsuo after gaining psychic powers and evolving into a new being who threatens all of Neo-Tokyo. $126.47 (was $220) Akira fans should also check out Amazon’s deal on the Akira 35th Anniversary Manga Box Set, which drops the price from $220 down to $126.47. This beautiful collection includes Katsuhiro Otomo’s complete series across six hardcover volumes. Originally published from 1982 to 1990, the Akira manga naturally has much more story to offer than what could possibly be told in a single film. If you love the film but haven’t read the source material, it’s definitely worth reading. The manga also helps contextualize plot threads and the world of Neo-Tokyo in general. The 35th Anniversary Box Set comes with a hardcover Akira Club art book and an exclusive pill patch. All told, the box set clocks in at 2,532 pages. The books are stored inside a clamshell display box with double doors. The artwork on outside and inside of the display box depicts the world of Neo-Tokyo and characters from the manga/anime. If you aren’t ready to commit to the complete box set, you can save on individual paperback volumes of the Akira manga at Amazon. Just keep in mind that if you were to buy all six volumes at current prices, you’d spend roughly the same amount as you would on the hardcover collection and its bonus content. In the video game industry, Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann cited the anime as one of major influences on the upcoming game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
