Duke of Sussex’s chief of staff ‘left after agreeing he was not the right fit’

The Duke of Sussex’s chief of staff left his role after just three months after mutually agreeing he was not the right fit, it was claimed yesterday.

The Mail’s Richard Eden revealed that Josh Kettler was no longer in his senior position, having only taken it up in May before the Sussexes’ tour to Nigeria.

His departure comes as Harry and Meghan prepare for their working trip to Colombia this week, which Mr Kettler was expected to be on. Now, US magazine People has reported that ‘hired on a trial basis, the decision to part ways was mutual, with both sides agreeing it ‘wasn’t the right fit’.

In May when he joined the Sussex team, the publication had claimed Mr Kettler was preparing to ‘guide’ Harry ‘through his next phase’.

Harry and Meghan are now thought to have lost at least 18 staff since they married in 2018.

Nine or more have left since they left Britain for California in 2020.

Mr Kettler, who was previously chief of staff at communication platform Cognition, travelled to London with the Duke in May to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Afterwards, he joined the Sussexes on their three-day tour of Nigeria. But a source in California told the Mail: ‘Josh Kettler is no longer working for them.’

A former member of staff commented: ‘‘The entire time I worked there, I don’t think I heard a single current or former employee say they would take the job again if given the chance.’’
