analysed the earnings of gold medallists, factoring in the latest financial incentives for medal wins by country.

Busselton’s Kennedy came out on top for Australia.

Kennedy, 27, earned $95,383 after securing gold in the women’s pole vault marking her as the first *********** woman to achieve this at the Olympics.

The national pole vault record holder’s golden payout was due to her win in the athletes category meaning she received an additional $75,383 from the World Athletics Committee.

Australia’s performance in Paris was strong, with 18 gold medals across various sports, making it the country’s most successful Olympics ever.

However, *********** and New Zealand athletes are only eligible for one payment based on their best result.

New Zealand’s Hamish Kerr was the highest-earning medallist from his country after securing a gold medal in the men’s high jump.

Meanwhile, two Hong Kong fencing athletes emerged as the highest earners of the Olympics, each winning $1,245,782 despite taking home just one gold medal.

The mammoth incentive was thanks to Hong Kong’s cash reward which has increased by 20 per cent since the Tokyo Olympics.

In comparison, China’s Yufei Zhang, who claimed the most medals at the Games with six, earned only $342,000.

France’s champion swimmer Léon Marchand, who won the most gold medals, was the only athlete outside of Asia to rank in the top ten-earning athletes.

Despite winning five medals, he walked away with just $863,887.

MoneyMe chief executive Clayton Howe said while the Olympics was a celebration of global sportsmanship it also revealed significant disparities in financial rewards across different nations.

“While some countries, particularly those in Asia and parts of Europe, offer substantial financial incentives, others such as Great Britain, some Nordic countries, and Australia and New Zealand, offer more modest rewards.”
