PlayStation’s Preference for Concord Over Another First-Party Exclusive Made to Look Even Sillier Now

Hero shooters have been all the rage in the gaming sector for a while now, and PlayStation’s Concord will be added to an already long list. It seems the fact is not lost on gamers, as many are feeling the fatigue brought about by titles that resemble each other a bit too much.

The disappointment is made worse when accounting for the resources that went into building an overdone type of game that could have grown a unique IP. Gamers have been expressing their annoyance at the fact that the company has skipped creating a sequel to one of its original projects.

Fans Demand Days Gone Sequel on Announcement of Concord Roadmap

When Days Gone was first released in 2019, it received mixed reviews. With a less-than-stellar storyline, the game wasn’t outstanding, but it was a fun experience. Concord is nowhere close to being the same kind of game, but this hasn’t stopped fans from speaking out for their title.

PlayStation is now trying its best to build hype for the title, which launches next week. The company is likely hoping the decline of Overwatch 2’s popularity due to its various issues may be the push Firewalk Studio’s new game needs to get off the ground.

The company has been ambitious enough to create an entire season roadmap for the title, but it’s not going well with the fans.

One fan is let down by the fact that the company has greenlighted this project instead of working on Days Gone 2.

Another agreed with the fan and was quite blunt regarding their opinion about Sony.

The fan is not alone in their opinion, as another has also requested a sequel to the title.

One fan calls into question Sony’s choice of project focus, as they feel the sequel to the title would have gone down better.

There’s a surprising amount of support for the title, which did not get too much fanfare on release. But it may be just what Bend Studios needs to start working on a PS5 sequel.

Open Beta Fails to Inspire Confidence or Interest in Players

As with many titles, the game wanted to test the waters before receiving a full launch, but this might have been the final nail in the coffin. The Concord open beta ******* to bring in substantial player numbers, leading to a downward spiral of public sentiment and confidence. However, Firewalk Studios may have an ace up its sleeve.

The team announced that the game would not feature the battle pass system, which is now common among live-service titles. Rather, players will get free post-launch content. This may be seen as a hail-mary attempt after the dismal open beta player numbers, but it ******** to be seen if it proves effective.

The game is on thin ice right now, and the developers have to hope their title lands well with the larger gaming community at launch. With public perception already so skewed, this might feel like an uphill battle, but one that could prove the game’s mettle if it comes out on top.
