Despite its popularity, Gears of War is a video game series that ******* to keep up and had a terrible downfall. This happened when The Coalition took charge as series developers with Gears of War 4 and introduced a new storyline involving Kait and JD as central characters.

All of these, however, are just fan theories at this point. E-Day is a project in the Early Stages, so speculating about the titles in the series that would come after it might not be the best idea.

There must be a strong reason why the Gears of War series took a detour after Gears 5, and The Coalition seems to be working hard to ensure its revival. If the plan is successful, we might see titles coming after Gears of War: E-Day, too.

While it is pure speculation, it could have been that Xbox deemed it fit to take the series to its good old days because of its downfall and poor reception of titles since Gears of War 4. And only after that would The Coalition be allowed to complete their trilogy.

Understandably, fans were pleasantly surprised when E-Day was announced at the Xbox Game Showcase. However, some fans were waiting for the next installment in the Kait/JD trilogy so that it could be completed.
