) — Toyota recently announced a recall of 22 vehicle models for equipment issues and says customers will be notified in September.

On July 22, Toyota inquired about a potential safety recall on various Toyota models. The initial report stated that the number of cars recalled would be determined by cars with GST accessories that display ‘inaccurate added weight values on a load carrying capacity modification label.’

describes the safety risk: “On the affected vehicles, the weight listed on the load carrying capacity modification label may be higher or lower than the actual total weight of accessories installed. In the worst case, a driver may unknowingly overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of ******.”

The recall document says around 33,484 vehicles are affected by this and the estimated percentage of cars with the defect is 100%.

Toyota said to fix this issue, owners will be notified of the issue by mail. The letter to owners willinclude a replacement load-carrying capacity modification label for their car and detailed replacement instructions.

You can also get the replacement label put on your car at any Toyota dealer free of charge.

Toyota said the company notified dealers on or before August 9 about the recall. Customers of the affected vehicles should expect letters to show up beginning on or around September 16 through September 20.
