Η Γκενκ κατάφερε να ανατρέψει το σκορ και να κερδίσει τη Μπριζ με 3-2 σε ένα εντυπωσιακό παιχνίδι ποδοσφαίρου. Η Μπριζ προηγήθηκε με 2-0 αλλά η Γκενκ κατάφερε να ισοφαρίσει και να πάρει τη νίκη στο 94′. Οι παίκτες και οι οπαδοί έζησαν μια συναρπαστική αναμέτρηση με πολλές συγκινήσεις και ανατροπές. Οι γκολ της Γκενκ πέτυχαν ο Σκοβ Όλσεν και ο Αροκοντάρε, ενώ το καθοριστικό γκολ σημειώθηκε από τον Χροσόβσκι. Οι αθλητικοί διευθυντές των εθνικών ομάδων παρακολούθησαν το παιχνίδι με ενδιαφέρον, ενώ παρατηρήθηκε η προσοχή στους νεαρούς ποδοσφαιριστές Καρέτσα και Τζόλη. Η νίκη αυτή για τη Γκενκ ήταν η πρώτη στο πρωτάθλημα, ενώ η Μπριζ συνεχίζει να αντιμετωπίζει δυσκολίες. Μετά το τέλος του αγώνα, υπήρξαν συζητήσεις για την επιλογή του Καρέτσα στην Εθνική Ελλάδος.
