Missing teen, Krishank “Krish” Karthik found by police and reunited with loved ones

A Melbourne teen who disappeared from his home nearly a week ago has been found by police in a different state.

Krishank “Krish” Karthik, 16, was last seen leaving his Truganina home in Melbourne’s west about 7.30am on Monday carrying spare clothes, a backpack and a suitcase.

The same day, the year 11 student reportedly caught a train from Tarneit station to Melbourne Central before stopping at a 7-Eleven to purchase two doughnuts and withdraw money.

About 1pm the owner of a phone store on Swanston St claimed the missing boy had sold his iPhone 14 pro at his store.

Nearly a week after his disappearance, Krishank was located in Penrith, Sydney in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Authorities had received information that the teenager had attended emergency accommodation in the area several days prior and his family travelled to NSW following the discovery.

Police confirmed he has since been reunited with his family.

It comes after Krishank’s mother Shobana Karthik suggested her son’s recent break up could be why the teenager went missing.

“We found out on Tuesday that he had a girlfriend and they broke up on Friday, and we have given all those chat messages to the police,” she told 7NEWS

While pleading with her son to return home, Ms Karthik offered some harsh words about son’s former girlfriend.

“She’s the ******, not you, baby,” she said.

“Come back, you’ll get a better girl than her.”

Krishank’s family previously revealed the Suzanne Cory High School student had not been attending classes for the past two weeks and had instead logged into his school’s parent portal to mark himself as absent.
