Ray Martin has done many things in his long and storied career as one of Australia’s most recognisable journalists. But for all the hard-hitting interviews he’s conducted and complex stories he’s covered, perhaps none have been quite as confronting as his latest investigation: his own mortality.

“It’s one of the last taboos,” Martin says of the topic of his new documentary series Ray Martin: The Last Goodbye. ******: and what to do when it happens to you. “Despite my age and my wife’s — she’s a few years younger — we hadn’t talked about it. And so if we hadn’t talked about it, then other people aren’t talking about it.”
