Ο ισραηλινός πρωθυπουργός, Μπενιαμίν Νετανιάχου, δήλωσε βαθύτατα λυπημένος για την επίθεση που δέχτηκε η χώρα του από τη Χαμάς στις 7 Οκτωβρίου, αλλά δεν ανέλαβε ευθύνη γι’ αυτήν. Σε συνέντευξη προς το περιοδικό Time, αρνήθηκε να ζητήσει συγγνώμη για την αποτυχία της κυβέρνησής του να αποτρέψει το συμβάν. Αν και παραδέχθηκε το βάθος της λύπης του, δεν ανέλαβε ευθύνη, επισημαίνοντας την ανάγκη νίκης στον τρέχοντα πόλεμο. Επιπλέον, αναφέρθηκε στις επικρίσεις που δέχεται από τον πρώην πρόεδρο των ΗΠΑ, Ντόναλντ Τραμπ, και αναρωτήθηκε εάν η επίθεση θα ήταν διαφορετική αν είχε ενεργήσει κάποιος άλλος στη θέση του. Σε μια κρίσιμη περίοδο για το Ισραήλ, ο Νετανιάχου επιμένει στην ανάγκη νίκης και ασφάλειας για τη χώρα του.
