Η επιχείρηση για τον περιορισμό και την εκρίζωση της πανώλης των μικρών μηρυκαστικών στην Περιφέρεια Δυτικής Ελλάδας βρίσκεται σε πλήρη εξέλιξη. Συνολικά, στην περιοχή της Αιτωλοακαρνανίας και της Ηλείας λειτουργούν 38 κλιμάκια επί του παρόντος, ενώ από αύριο αναμένεται να αυξηθούν σε 44 κλιμάκια. Η επιχείρηση συντονίζεται από τον Γενικό Γραμματέα Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Τροφίμων, Γιώργο Στρατάκο, κατόπιν εντολής του υπουργού Κώστα Τσιάρα. Το Υπουργείο χαρακτηρίζει την επιχείρηση ως τη μεγαλύτερη κτηνιατρική επιχείρηση που έχει ποτέ πραγματοποιηθεί στην Ελλάδα. Σύμφωνα με πηγές από το euro2day και το ΑΠΕ, επίσης ανακοινώθηκαν ειδήσεις υγείας, όπως συνάντηση Τ.Ε.Α.Υ.Φ.Ε με εκπροσώπους από τον Σ.Φ.Ε.Ε. και την Π.Ε.Φ., επιπτώσεις νέων φαρμάκων αδυνατίσματος στην όραση και συμβουλές ταξιδιωτικής ιατρικής.
