OKLAHOMA CITY (

) – A man who received several charges for an armed robbery at a popular metro-area seafood restaurant now claims that he didn’t do it.

The armed robbery happened back in June at Trappers Fish Camp & Grill.

Court documents say that the manager on the night of June 19 was trying to close up at the time. She opened the back door and came face-to-face with a man in a gray mask who had a **** in his hand.

The suspect reportedly threatened the victim and demanded that she give him all of the money they had in the safe.

When he walked into the door he flipped the light switch, the victim told police it was almost as if he knew the back area of the restaurant.

The suspect demanded the victim open the safe and put the $4,000 that was inside it in a plastic bag.

He then demanded that she give him her phone and purse but she told him no. He attempted to grab her purse but she then pulled a ****** from it.

At one point a shot was fired near the victim’s head, the suspect then ran from the office and when he did, he fired a second round behind him and toward the victim. The bullet missed her and struck a computer monitor.

Oklahoma City Police arrived and took the report but there was no suspect in sight.

That was until another worker looked through surveillance footage and recognized the suspect involved. Court documents report that the worker believed it to be a former employee, Romeo Evans.

from April is used as evidence in the case. The victim claims to have heard his voice in the video and recognized it as the suspect in the ******.

Another piece of evidence alleged was that the mask seen in the video posted online was the same one used in the robbery.

Court documents also detailed that cellphone data put Evans in the area of the ****** at the time of the armed robbery.

“Nah, I didn’t do it,” said Evans over the phone.

KFOR went to Evans’ home to ask him about the incident.

Evans was in jail for a different ****** he was arrested at the end of July.

“I was over in that area, I was at Night Trips. I had a performance there,” said Evans.

Across the street from Trappers is the ****** entertainment venue Night Trips. Evans claimed that he had a show there around the same time and that’s why his phone was traced to that area.

“I had a performance there,” said Evans.

However, KFOR contacted Night Trips and the only performances they have are ones with ****** entertainment stars.

When asked about it, Evans said “I haven’t been stopped by police in two years. Maybe a year-and-a-half.”

Evans was talking to KFOR from jail over the phone. He had been arrested at the end of July for allegedly having methamphetamine and being a felon with a ****.

“Were you locked up because you were found with drugs though?” we asked Evans.

“They said I was caught with drugs. I have to look into that more,” said Evans.

He denied that charge as well.

“I’ll do whatever they want me to do to prove it. They can use my hair, I got the *******. They can do whatever they want to do. Whatever you need me to do, let me know, it’s not me,” said Evans.

For now, he is in jail with an over $850,000 bail for the alleged armed robbery.

Steve Griffin with Pearl’s Restaurant Group who owns Trappers said, “I’m happy with the police during this investigation and am happy that nobody was hurt during it all.”
