The First Descendant Hasn’t Treated One Character Right, and 250 Hours of Playtime Proves It

In The First Descendant, players end up spending countless hours mastering characters and optimizing their gameplay. Understandably, some characters receive more attention and development than others.

One player, after 250 hours of playtime, shared on

about the character Esiemo, and not seeing him much. They had only encountered him once in all that time, sparking a conversation about the character in the community.

Esiemo in The First Descendant Isn’t as Popular

The thread on the The First Descendant subreddit started a wave of comments from other players sharing their experiences and opinions on Esiemo. One player mentioned building and leveling him to 40, only to find his current state pretty laughable.

They felt he required a complete rework to be viable. Another player humorously noted that even after 500+ hours of gameplay, they were still unaware of his existence in the game. This just shows the character’s underwhelming presence and impact on the player base.

However, not all feedback was negative. One player praised his ultimate ability, finding joy in all the chaos it created. The thrill of running into enemies and exploding was a unique experience for them, even though the ultimate’s long animation could be problematic and not as fun.

This player said that while his ultimate dealt significant damage, it was risky due to the possibility of being ******* before executing it fully, especially in mob or crowded situations.

Esiemo Is the Explosive Expert in the Game

Esiemo’s gameplay revolves around attaching ****** to enemies and detonating them at optimal moments. This chain of explosions can lead to devastating results when ********* correctly. However, if not managed well, he can be frustrating to play. His role is similar to Lepic, another character in The First Descendant, but Esiemo lacks control over his ultimate ability compared to Lepic.

He specializes in burst damage per second (DPS) and explosive attacks. His skills are designed for area of effect damage, making him effective at pre-stacking damage. By placing mines at ****** spawn points, he can ***** enemies just as they appear. This strategy can ******** groups of foes but falls short against single targets. Hence, he’s best served by fighting groups.

Players looking for a character with explosive power might find him appealing. However, mastering him requires precise timing and strategic placement of these grenades and ******, which aren’t always easy. His unique features can be rewarding but also demanding, making him a challenging yet potentially powerful choice, if done right.

To unlock him via Research, players need 400,000 Gold and four specific Esiemo resources – one Enhanced Cell, one Stabilizer, one Spiral Catalyst, and one Code. This research process also takes 16 hours on top of that.

Alternatively, he can be purchased directly for 900 Caliber from the Shop, skipping the research entirely. This amount of Caliber is around 20$. His ultimate skill allows him to charge forward, explode, and knock back enemies.

This move also removes buffs from enemies, thanks to his madness state buff post-ultimate. Players who enjoy causing widespread destruction will appreciate his capabilities, but those seeking a balanced character with utility might prefer others like Lepic.
