****** Ops 6’s ‘Half measures’ Approach to 1 Feature Isn’t Winning Any Fans

Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 will be the first entry in the ****** Ops series for over four years, and fans are eager to see what they will get in October of this year. While we can expect some mainstays of the Call of Duty franchise in the title, Treyarch is also introducing some new mechanics.

Aside from new guns and maps, there is one entirely new mechanic that could change the way people play not only these games but first-person shooters as a genre. Omnimovement, the game’s new traversal system, could be a complete game changer, but some fans are not happy with what they have seen so far.

Fans Express Dissatisfaction with ****** Ops 6 Omnimovement

Some animation changes have been implemented to the Call of Duty games over the years, but there are still several aspects which have remained more or the less the same. Many thought this may be different for Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 with Omnimovement, but this doesn’t seem to be the case.

The new mechanic is designed to offer unparalleled flexibility during movement. Plagues can sprint and ***** in any direction, including backward! The team claims it has gone through existing documents and manuals of special forces to understand how some troops utilize this technique during real combat.

Sadly, it seems the first rendition of this new movement mechanic has not impressed everyone, especially the Tac Sprint feature. Double-tapping the spring button in Modern Warfare 3 allows the player to run faster. Some felt the animation of all movements would be refreshed, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

One reply to the tweet claims that the animation may be different for different guns depending on their size and weight, but it appears that even that is not consistent.

It might not sound like a big deal, and as long as the feature functions as intended, it would be fine, but the lack of new animations does make one wonder if they are reusing assets.

It seems even Treyarch is not free from having their content leaked, as several videos and images from Discord have given fans a look at what to expect in Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6. One of the new features allows players to use a human shield, and some are claiming this to be a reference to the Xbox franchise Gears of War.

The sentiment for the game is overall positive, but it is also in a bit of a tight spot, as some Modern Warfare fans would prefer a continuation of that series over ****** Ops. But, with other players saying they would like to trade in the previous games for a discount on the new one, there appears to be strong support for the title.

Treyarch’s innovative mindset will be put to the test in October once the game releases. If the feature works as intended, it could prompt other players in the genre to change mobility in their titles as well to match that of the latest ****** Ops game.
