Moreso than just the graphics, I am actually blown away by how fluid Mario controls in Mario 64. It still feels good by modern standards. The camera though certainly didn’t age well.

To me, these are still best experienced on a CRT bc the blur really did give a more rounded edge illusion, as if they were actually higher poly than they really were. Playing then on sharp HD screens of today rob you of that, and really make things look like cardboard boxes. The consoles of that era were built around tvs of the time, so that’s why you see so many retroheads seeking out Trinitrons or other tvs of the time to fully get the most out of the games.
