LaGuardia Airport issued the ground stop at 2:10 p.m., followed by John F. Kennedy Airport and Newark Airport at 2:15 p.m.

Current delay times:

Newark Airport grounded until 9:30 p.m.

JFK Airport grounded until 9:30 p.m.

LaGuardia Airport grounded until 9:30 p.m.

However, ground delays are likely to last into the overnight hours, officials said.

New York City officials have also issued flash flood and travel advisories for Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. Thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to drench the city starting Tuesday night.
