Boomers hero and *********** Olympic legend Patty Mills left it all on the court after he sent the quarter-final clash against Serbia to overtime.

The Boomers led by as much as 24-points in the second quarter, but the heavy favourites Serbia marched back to take the lead.

Down by two points with seconds remaining, Australia put the ball in Mills’ hand to make magic happen, and thats exactly what he did.

Mills drained a shot over the Serbian giant Nikola Jokic to tie the game up, sending it to overtime.

“Olympics brings the best out of people, teams, countries. This is why you play for these moments,” Mills told channel nine after the loss.

“We threw everything at them, and it just wasn’t our day, full credit to Serbia, they’re one ***** of a team, great individuals on their, great competitors.

“They played a ***** of a game, and they grinded it out and got over the hump in the end.”

Australia looked in danger of being knocked out in the group stages after a ugly loss to Greece – but they ended up coming within inches of upsetting the powerhouse Serbia.

“Our guys man, we’ve had a blast, this journey’s been fun, we’ve stuck together,” Mills said.

“We’ve stayed connected as a group, we talked about stacking days and getting better as a group to move forward.

“But this is Olympic Games, this is the moment you want to be in and it was fun.”

The Olympic stalwart has moved up into the top five for all time scoring in the Olympics, he added another 26-points in the loss.

Mills continued to step up for his country in the biggest of moments.

“The support that’s been there through the thick and thin, ups and downs, it’s been a long ride,” he said.

“Learnt a lot about ourselves, learnt a lot about myself and what it means to be an *********** competing for your country.

“There’s nothing that I enjoy more than that, I love it.”
