Aptly supported by Perth-based Rok Riley, New Zealand producer Messie and the ***’s Joy Anonymous, the globetrotter played a collaborative set early before returning for a three-hour ascension to sonic euphoria. Where some artists have snubbed Perth for larger cities, the EDM sensation’s smoke-and-mirrors approach held local fans ******** during the week in anticipation of securing one of 35,000 tickets to experience him live. A letter by Aussie promoter TEG Live was then dropped to nearby Langley Park residents during the week announcing plans of a “single-stage music event” for March 30, where construction of the make-shift precinct began immediately. Tickets to his long-awaited show were snapped up in no more than two hours on Wednesday. Ryan Clarke accompanied his British mates to the show but admitted scoring tickets was a challenge. “It was a scramble, because there was a ticket limit and we had eight devices on it,” Mr Clarke said. Playing certified bangers Turn on the Lights and Jungle, the entertainer even brought out British MC Flowdan to perform their signature track Rumble in yet another surprise to fans. Bouncing at times, and singing at others, the musical phenomenon was acutely in tune with his audience’s melodic appetite and was able to serve them exactly what they ordered. Rolling and lighting a ********** on stage, however, may have the City of Perth questioning whether they invite him back — although he did thank them for having him.
