Ο Πέτρος Γκικουρίας δήλωσε ότι έχασε τις δημοτικές εκλογές στη Χειμάρρα λόγω της επιρροής του κρατικού οργανισμού του Ράμα και των πιέσεων προς τους ψηφοφόρους. Κατηγόρησε τον αντίπαλό του Βαγγέλη Τάβο για τρομοκράτηση και αγοραία διαδικασία ψηφοδέλτιο. Αναφέρθηκε σε πληρωμές ποσού 300 ευρώ σε αντάλλαγμα για ψήφους, ενώ επισήμανε επιχειρήματα μερικών ψηφοφόρων να μην ψηφίσουν καν. Παρά την προσπάθειά του να κατέβει σε όλα τα χωριά και να ενθαρρύνει τους κατοίκους να ψηφίσουν το πρόγραμμά του, απέτυχε να κερδίσει το Δήμο. Τονίζει όμως πως η Χειμάρρα και ορισμένα χωριά του επέλεξαν το πρόγραμμά του, που είχε υποστηρικτική βάση από τον προηγούμενο δήμαρχο και νικητή των εκλογών, Φρέντι Μπελέρη.
