Man left with life-threatening injuries after police *********

A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after he was shot in the chest by police.

A 45-year-old man has been shot following an incident in North Toowoomba on Monday afternoon.

Police visited a residential property on Ruthven Street about 4.40pm on Monday related to a man wanted for questioning.

The man, armed with a ******, allegedly came towards police, who then shot him in the chest.

He was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with life-threatening injuries and ******** in critical condition.

Investigations are ongoing and a ****** scene has been established.

Two police officers were treated at hospital for minor injuries.

The investigation will be subject to oversight by the ****** and *********** Commission, while the Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident.
